His language is appalling, the swearing utterly unnecessary. His grammar and spelling are atrocious too.

How can I point my son to this and say 'what do you think?' when some yob has scrawled abuse all over it? Off topic I know, I'm just tired of the foulness and people thinking it is acceptable.

Not to defend it, but it is an unintended consequence of most of the big platforms not permitting any leaked material itself so the leakers inevitably find themselves either on some minor forum, or on 4chan where the tone is way cruder. At least it's an improvement over the 2.0 leaks where it was watermarked racial slurs across the whole page, where any blocking or removal attempts would render the page illegible.

These will inevitably be cleaned and then reposted, and then you can point to the obvious smudges/stikeouts and also turn it into a lesson that people can be awful to each other, especially if they feel justified, and doubly so about inconsequential things like rules for dress up dolls aimed at children, neurodivergent adults, and inevitably the occasional societal reject.

But as someone completely new to Heresy (I was thinking of trying 3rd, but reading this forum has kinda worked against that interest)

by all means, try it out. A new edition is a good moment to start a new army.

as someone new you're actually in a much better position than some more experienced heresy folks here who might just get a bit worked up when they see their beloved units no longer usable (which is justified)...  So we may air grievances and level criticism but this shouldn't discourage you too much (I hope)

So I know everything is kind of on fire with the disappointing leaks.

But as someone completely new to Heresy (I was thinking of trying 3rd, but reading this forum has kinda worked against that interest) I like the Iron Hands and some of those rule seem really neat (Sire of the Iron Hands is cool especially) I hope once the edition is out, things cool off and I can give it a shot, cause 10th ed 40K is getting a little boring.

Also why dont Gorgon Terminators have a ranged options in the new rules? Their models literally all have Combi Boltors. I guess that means they must be getting a new kit soon?

Hate to break it, but iron hands used to get that feel no pain from Ferrus for the entire game lol

They're going to have to try really hard to make the Traitor EC rules worse than they currently are. Based on what we've seen so far though, I bet they manage it.

Wasn't there some early, early scuttlebutt that Kakophoni were really good? Maybe... there's a chance...

Removing the ability to kitbash and customize is a bad thing. If they’ve knocked the flavor out of HH, then why bother? It felt to me that last edition the HH 2.0 was for the old school players or those who liked the crunch of points and customization, and the narrative aspect of gaming. Feels like the push towards “tournament style streamlined” 40K 10th edition.

I’ll hold out for more info but as a guy who was about to drop almost $400 USD on Saturday it’s given me pause and a couple days time to reconsider.

Wait wait. The scars prime advantage, the thing all prime slots will gain....is the sagyar mazan. So one of the defining aspects of the white scars lists in heresy 3.0 will be everyone's on a redemptive death crusade. And then the primarchs sire of the legion allows for....more land raiders? You just get an armoured column with jaghatai now lol. So weird.

Oh don’t worry, no one will take that Prime Benefit when it’s competing with an extra slot

Someone on the design team got ptsd from 1.0 Brotherhood rite and Glaives.

I'm gonna try it, and then wait for the first Journal release before investing into it. I think what they release for Legion Journals will make or break 3.0 for me.

I will wait until the first two Journals were released.

Until then I will stay with 2.0 as will two of my Heresy guys.

Yeah after careful consideration, I’ve decided I’m out. Not investing into 3rd will just finish all my to do list and leave them in the display case.

Don't want to have the negativity of the community and company decisions impacting on my day to day life and hobbies, it sucks but after the continued polarisation of the community I’m definitely just to old to care about all of this stuff.

will still live and watch from the shadows but fml I’ve never seen so many local gaming groups go nuclear in a 12 hour window

I just find it slightly amusing that y’all thought you would be exempt from GW policies on models and rules, that everyone else have to deal with.

Just read the Engine Kill mission overview and titan rules. That sounds like a super fun time.

Why don’t you all just play another edition of the game?

Because locally it was hard enough to find an active 30k community and the majority of the people have all decided to hang in the towel.

possibly this can all be fixed and rectified but to have so many decisions finalised prior to release and having to wait with abated breath for possible rectifications at a later date and having a fair bit of my collection made either unusable wargear option wise at this stage of life, I just expect a little more in regards to quality control.

theres also better avenues to have energy directed towards then seeing full grown adults ultimately act like internet goblins. In the past I’d have tried to justify the visceral reactions but now I just go….

I can’t be bothered investing my energy into it

That only works if people are playing another edition.

It also means you lose out on anything new in 3.0 but presumably if there's a large enough support group for 2.0 still someone will backport the new stuff eventually.

Tartaros Terminators allegedly losing access to power fists, chain fists and thunder hammers. They'll only be able to take power weapons, a lightning claw or two lightning claws.

Ok, that makes no sense at all. The kit comes with a load of Power and Chain Fists.

Is it too late to revise my previous position and come to the conclusion they have no idea what they're doing...?

I'm still picking up the Saturnine box because the models look great and I'm looking forward to building them.

However I'm losing enthusiasm for the rules with the options seemingly being stripped out so won't be picking up any of the books at launch.

I moved away from 40K in 10th because of things like army rules being stripped back and granularity disappearing. I know it was heading that way anyway from 8th, but at least in 9th you still had warlord traits, relics, and army specific stuff (RIP Fist of Balthus). I focussed on Heresy because it felt the way I wanted my Warhammer to feel. Getting worried that 3ed simply won't "feel right". (To me anyway. I'm sure it'll be someone's cup of tea and if so, I'm happy for them)

I need to see what the Old World scene is like near me.....

That HAS to mean a new kit is coming, right?

Inb4 it's a preview what the eventual kit refresh comes with natively.

I think you missed the point, GhostMalone said nobody liked 3rd so just packed up, put it on the shelf and gave up. The entire group. It's a literal one liner of "shall we carry on with what we have?" And everyone who liked 2nd enough to play it can keep playing it.

Don’t buy now, give it a month or two to see how the launch goes, any FAQs/erratas, and if people report good things. The core rules look good. It seems the army rules are the major area of complaint. The army rules are basically a brand new game compared to 1.0 and 2.0 so you’d be starting on the ground floor with no baggage. Additionally, there are lot of themes missing in overall composition for factions which are prime material for future Journals. The slow roll out of what people need to replace the old options which made their army composition work is another point of contention for 1.0 and 2.0 players. The 3rd ed launch definitely promotes starting collecting an army based on the Crusade Primary detachment. If you decide to hop in to 3rd HH, I recommend a 1000 points to start, based on Crusade detachment. By the time it is done and you’ve a few 1000 point games under the belt, you’ll have an idea of how you want to grow the army, and GW will have released more models and rules.
