I don't understand the purpose now of the siege tartaros with the previous errata. They can all have heavy ranged weapon and that's it ?

I may have missed something, but I don't see any indication that all consuls can have their old equipment.

Read the Siege Terminators’ blurb.

Clearly the original plan was to have Tartaros terminators with “lighter” power weapons only, and then have the siege terminators be legacy entry with the heavier melee weapons. The backlash prompted them to amend the main entry in the errata, and my theory is the siege terminators were given the option to just take all heavy weapons as a justification for the unit existing. The first part is clear from the blurb (which I have put in the legacy pdf discussion), the second part is my supposition.

Also, looks like I owe the Omnissiah a Mk VI pauldron!

BS5 and WS4 now, not as good for melee. No more power weapons, charnabal blades, or lightning claws for the squad. If you built them that way James will sell you a nice new box of models…

We had the same discussion in my Group with Tactical Squads, they could take Chainswords too. But for the rules it doesnt make any difference.

Splitting Veterans into tactical and assault variants doesnt feel bad for me, tehy got rid of the "can do it all" Budget Units and Weapons, which helps game balance in my eyes.

@Loishy

The Siege Tartaros cant take Power Fists, only Chainfists as only the Sergeant has acces to the Terminator Melee List.

Basically it's a kind of "devastator" Tartaros unit. They lack lighting claws, power fists and thunder hammers(Except the sarge) but they can all be loaded with chain fists, plasmablasters and heavy weapons.

A bit weird unit, in my opinion, but not totally bad.

Veteran Tactical Squads have access to the legion special weapons list and the legion heavy weapons list for 1per5 models

Nice one you're right thanks, I missed the heavy weapons option in the profile. That's much better from my plans

Just saw Wayland have put their prices up on the starter to £156 from £126 and showing zero stock, Dark Sphere have removed it completely, no idea what is going on there.

They sold a bunch. They priced aggressively to move it on and now that they have cleared the stock they have popped it up to a more normal price point and will likely order in a standard stock weight moving forward. My FLGS has done the exact same thing.

I've nearly finished my run through of the Astartes units. Here's an article looking at both types of Transports, Armour and Lords of War. It's a long one: https://www.goonhammer.com/horus-heresy-tactica-transports-heavy-transports-armour-and-lords-of-war-in-third-edition/

Just Dreadnoughts, Fast Attack and Recon to go. Oh and all the Legions and the new Legacy doc I guess.

The only thing you missed are the Heavy Bolter Sponsons for the Spartan which seem quite fun.

Fair point, I should add something on those. To be honest I don't think I'd ever take them but they're worth considering.

Might stick in something on the Whirlwind Hyperios too.

And wow, I'm going to have to write a bunch of stuff about the Legacies document at some point.

Will probably end up being as long as the actual Legacies document...!

Well I like to do my reading after the kids have gone to bed so if you could have your legacies article ready for about 8pm this evening that would be appreciated

Honestly i co nsider them more and more.

Its 2 Gravis Heavy Bolter Batteries which come with Suppression 2 and as you want to drive your Spartan into the throat of your opponent they may be more usefull than the laser weapons.

Siege Tartaros = Bizzare

think the intent is that they want the two flavors of Terminator to feel more distinct and when they get a new kit we'll see that changed so the Cataphractii are the heavy fortified position breakers, while the Tarataros are the faster blitzers who smash into enemy infantry instead. Of course they still want to support people with the current kit, hence the Siege Tartaros.

At least that's how it makes sense in my smooth brain.

The Night Lords armory update of chainblades seems pointless, they are the same profile and point cost now. Am I missing something?

Looks like it's just to support unit modelling more than anything. Sure it's identical in stats and cost to chainglaives but visually they're different and I think that's what they're supporting.

Where's my lightning, James? Where's the multi melta on my Javlin, James?? Where's my primarch's bike, James???

Erebus took them.

Basically yes, but with bigger Heavy Bolters and no Reserve Sheananigans.

Yeah, no command features. I did wonder if the two would be cross-compatible when I saw them on the Fellblade, since the alternative is the same quad lascannon arrangement as the Spartan, and the idea of making a Proteus Prometheus and Spartan Prometheus occurred to me.
