Appreciate the effort, I've given up on it. It's something that seems ham fisted and a weak excuse for an extra stat/test value that is utterly removed from the setting. I can make peace with "it's a game number for game things and nothing to do with the horus heresy".

I still stand by it's your ability to use tech, not just your actual intelligence and someone who has fingers bigger than a person's head makes you a poor typist. A knight may have other ways to interact with tech (like a noosphere) that Dreadnoughts don't have since a knight isn't a walking life support system with guns.

Dreadnoughts have low intelligence because only the dumbest :cuss:s are stupid enough to let themselves put into one of those coffins, damming themselves to an possible infinite live of pain and suffering.

You wanna be a big stompy robot?

Ooooh I wanna. Make me big and stroooong, boss.

Yeah like I say, technical ability might have been a better name for it, but it's less traditional RPG sounding I suppose.

I'll have to go back to the reveal's page, but I'm pretty sure that's how they worded it then. Tech Marines repairing and units using auspex via this stat is, I think, the examples they gave.

Yeah it is, but intelligence relates to a personal attribute beyond the ability to use tech. It's just poor naming and the whole thing is very game mechanics first for me.

It has to be called “intelligence” to work as a call-back to Rogue Trader and 3rd edition Fantasy Battle (where it was mostly used for spellcasting).  Maybe it’s the constant rage that our venerable ancients feel that’s denting their ability? I’m glad they brought them back with those same names and can live with some rough edges. But then I have little skin in this game…

It's a hold over from Rogue Trader. The four attributes were consolidated because only one check would use the extended attributes rendering them superflous.

Personally I rather think we could use 2, not necessarily 4. Intelligence and Willpower (maybe call it something more generic, such as fortitude?) and use intelligence for repair, maintenance, ranging, demolitions and willpower for leadership, pinning, psychic tests.

I appreciate the intent to create variation between roles - a Chaplain could have absurd levels of leadership and will power but lesser cool, or a sorceror very high will power but lower leadership. That works in an RPG and, on paper it adds flavour to heroes but as with Rogue Trader I think it'll just slow the game down as rules are checked to determine the statistic to use

A Dreadnought would either have mechadendrites concealed in armour hatches or use directly the noosphere to interact with electronic equipment such as doors or terminals (e.g. R2D2 from Star Wars) because using a wrecking ball aka Dreadnought melee weapon is unsuitable for the task. But hey they have INT 5 and are too dumb to use  any of those options.

Dear Omnissiah, it's just game abstraction, don't you guys know how to separete gameplay from lore?

This obsession over it reached absurd (in the dumb way) levels.

Don't tell anyone space marines can take exactly as many wounds as a regular human in the game.

A knight has a singular pilot, they'd have to get out of it and turn it off/leave it undefended to do so.

True, though the current Knight Questoris kit does allow for that.

"This kit also builds one Household Scion on foot, and the Knight itself can be built with an open carapace showing the Scion piloting his mechanical steed.

This kit comprises 250 plastic components and is supplied with a Citadel 170x109mm Oval Base and a Citadel 25mm Round Base..."

What time does the preview normal drop? 5pm UK time? Who is running the book on if it’s just the starter/liners or if we get a wave of characters they’ve been sitting on.

6pm British Summer Time (so in three hours).

Can only imagine it's Saturnine + books. Usually they want these sets to take the spotlight for a bit. Though I'm happy to be surprised.

Absolutely.

Quite ironic when I think about it. ;)

So 19:00 for middle of europe.

Let's wait and see.

As was foretold, pre-orders for Saturnine next week.

In addition: standalone rulebook, Dropsite Journal, all the Libers, standalone MkII box, the Carta Galactica map, a Vengeful Spirit map, and the paperback of TE&TD P2.

They've historically been a lot better about getting standalone Heresy kits out of the door within a week or three of their respective 'big box' than 40k and AoS. I'd be surprised if we're waiting long for the rest of the contents to be separate.

That is painful since it means coughing up mid month as opposed to doing so after payday. Oh well.
