To be fair, the gentlemen at Goonhammer were pretty upset when the lore for Horus Heresy said Space Marines come from boys because that made it "hard to punch fascists."

So there are things that will get them fired up, just not anything related to how the game actually plays.

That was the most ridiculous thing I've ever read with regards to this hobby, and is in the top ten list of most ridiculous things I've ever read at all ever, and I've read Dan Brown.

In order to provide some positivity, I have been watching several YouTube vids, and while most are upset because of what has already been mentioned, the ones that have actually played the game, say it plays a lot better and faster than the previous ones. The have managed several games in one day, that weren’t just 2 turn affairs. They are also positive about the change to vehicles.

This is what I felt when 40k 2nd edition went to 3rd. They gutted a ton of rules and options while at the same time streamlined them, in a positive way,  so that games didn't take all day. I hated 3rd for a long time for losing all the options but it grew on me that I could play faster with more models. This edition from what's been leaked doesn't have me wanting to buy it as it seems more complicated and more inclined with current 40k ethos of standard load outs. Thank you for giving me a little positive thought on this.

I'm not going to bother reading the rest of this. I got to the Iron Hands part and they call these glaring omissions or errors in the book "a few odd design choices". I expect the rest of their write up to be sugarcoated to all hell. Now I find out the Grave Wardens lost the flamer option that they come with when you buy the set. Did the sergeant lose his combi weapon options as well? Those are in the box too.

It's all a bit of a laugh, isn't it?

Grave Wardens lost the death cloud projectors according to the leaks.  The alchem heavy flamer and combo-weapon option are still there.

I couldn't find their entry anywhere in the leaks. The Goonhammer article had this line:

"The Grave Wardens might have lost their flamers, but still feel like pure upside from regular cataphractii for the same cost, with their Poison (3+) Assault Grenade Launchers spitting out a hateful amount of volley fire and their Death Cloud rule dealing additional Poisoned hits in melee. "

Surely they have a copy of the book and they aren't just making stuff up. Are they just being silly and calling the death cloud projector profile a flamer?

Oh no, the low hanging Nipple Projectors are now just low hanging Armor Nipples?

Makes me wonder what to do with my conversions which actually looked like they had some sort of gas-projection weapon....

I guess it's comforting to know that grossly misunderstanding the purpose of "Actual dystopian caricature soldier" is such a universal experience. Truly what unites the world.

Yes (re:silly).  Won’t link to the leaked photo of the unit entry but it’s out there…until the location gets nuked (again).

What do you mean sorry?

I mean, for example, I can't put a jump pack on my SoH Praetor or in a Chaplain, or in a Command Squad. Just in Raven Guard or Night Lord's

You need to think outside the box and try the White Scars´ "Arachnophobia" detachment. All WS units receive +2 movement. This means your Tarantula gun platforms will be hopping around the board like crazy. Take a swarm of them and paint them orange/black to pay homage to Brachypelma boehmei.

Do you mean just the flamer profile they could attack with? Grave Wardens still have Death Cloud under their Special Rules instead of as wargear, as does Typhon, and Mortarion.

Tarantulas have unit type Vehicle, so they're excluded from benefiting from the bonus under the WS legion tactica.

Updated Mark V art now as well. Guess we'll be seeing a push to get Mark IV and V into plastic then this edition.

Might be a LOT of stuff coming out then, maybe they'll try to get all the generic infantry and vehicles transferred to plastics.

Yes, the flamer profile was the death cloud projector.  The death cloud causing wounds when in melee combat is still there.

I think there is still passion. GW is just a different company now. It is much, much bigger in terms of money, and that brings with it a certain level of demand from shareholders.

But as usual vote with your vallet. Don’t buy anything from GW. Explore third party minis and rules.

And it has been 10 years or so since the Black Books stopped. Time to move on.

Different company with different design ethos and goals. I admit I've been struggling with 40k proper because of that shift drastically moving the game away from what I got into, but I'm starting to get it, even if I wish they'd still leave an avenue for people who want to get into the weeds to still have options. 30k lost a fair bit this edition but it's still way closer to the kind of stuff I want from Warhammer than 40k currently is.

All generic Praetors not in Terminator armor have access to a jump pack. It's literally on their datasheet.

Sent a email, cc'ed GW's customer service email as well so hopefully it will get to someone. Pretty sure I forgot stuff but lack of sleep will do that. Message below if anyone wants to use for ideas.

Spoiler
Good afternoon,

I apologise if this is to the wrong emails but I was hoping to get this to the right teams and thought this would be the best way for me to go about it.

To begin with, I would like to thank the Heresy Team for the effort they put into the core rules of 3rd Edition. It seems a lot better and cut down, without being cut back, than 1st or 2nd edition. In with 1st was a evolution of 6th and 7th edition of 40k and 2nd edition was a evolution from 1st. So I can understand the team wanting to bring about a edition without any amalgamations, the rules seem solid though a bit wordy (though I assume that is because some people will use any interpretation to work the rule to their advantage, which goes against the spirit of the hobby).

That said, the rest of 3rd edition I am not a fan of, to say the least. As you may be aware, much of the rule books have leaked on the Internet and has not been well received and I am one of those who are largely disappointed in what the Age of Darkness has become. I was able to tolerate the changing in Force Organisation chart, as long as points changed to allow me to buy extra HQs to gain the detachments needed to make my 1st and 2nd edition army usable in 3rd edition. Having read the leaks, it's clear this is not the case.
I have lost two units and my terminators can no longer have the weapons they are equipped with, weapons that the current box comes with by default I will add, but it largely seems that I was one of the lucky ones. Others have lost nearly entire armies as certain Legion specific units have lost various weapon options, such as the Raven Guard Mor Deythan who have lost access to weapons they have had since 1st edition or the Ultramarines Invictarus Suzerains who gained access to Thunder Hammers in 2nd edition. What is more frustrating to players is that some other Legion units, such as the Lernaean Terminators gained options.
What makes it worse is that even generic units were hit. Veteran squads can no longer have any melee weapons, -again- despite having access to them since 1st edition, Consuls now come with set weapons despite having access to all of the Centurion weapon options previously and some units - namely destroyers - were removed despite still being sold on the website. Tartaros Terminators cannot have power fists or chain fists, despite their current box set coming with them, something that no doubt a FAQ or 'Legacies' PDF will cover but that's not really the point. A product is being sold that cannot be used with the options given.

I was going to put in a order, which would cover the books and two boxes, but now I'm not since my Sons of Horus and my Ultramarines have lost units and my planned Blackshields forces are no longer valid at all. It is madness that this was a option that was taken, to willingly and knowingly invalidate people's armies, a sizeable portion of which have existed for over a decade! This is something I don't think even the best FAQs or Legacies documents is going to sooth given the state of the Legacies in 2nd and the lack of FAQs in 2nd as well.
As you have no doubt seen from the Facebook and Youtube comments as well as various forum responses to the leaks (such as reddit, DakkaDakka and the Bolter and Chainsword) there is only a handful going 'wait and see' while the rest are less than pleased to say the least. The Age of Darkness has always been about 'You Dudes' and building Your Legion the way You Want to. But with 3rd? That's just not possible.

I apologise if the tone of my email comes across as aggressive, that was not my intention. I am just frustrated as someone who has been playing since 4th edition and joined 30k at the start and dove deep after my Firstborn Astral Claws slowly lost their options in 40k. (as well as hot and tired, this heat can bugger off) I was optimistic about 3rd edition but the leaks have killed my interest in it and so myself, and my gaming group, will be staying in second for the foreseeable future.

Many thanks and regards,
