laurelesthardi
Hello B&C I'm new here, I'm french, and it's been a while since the last time I wrote in english... so try to be indulgent ( for my english and my minis!) So, I started a few years ago to collect and assemble orks. They are so funny and give a lot of opportunities to kitbash and convert, it's like a "grown up" Lego version. And since I don't play W40k, I let myself do what comes in my head... I prefer to convert/kitbash then paint and I'm a slow painter, so there are a lot of grey minis at the moment. I also have issues when it comes to make choises, so there are also some variations in the color scheme or bases. The project is an ork army in... a desertic environnement... yes, I know, not very original, but what the hell, I like that, and I am writing (in french for the moment...) some lore to explain. The other idea in the project is to use almost all orks/grot from Stormbringer mag, they are gonna be used to figure orks/grots from deep desert that joined the klan. So enough talking, let's go for the presentations... First of all, Machkran himsemf...all the lore about all the characters will come later... I loved the mini the first time I saw it, I knew I wanted to convert him for W40k... This is my orkish "Leonardo Da Vinci"... He is a swiss knife caracter, big mek, shaman and medic... A jumping around DeffDread... I had a lot of fun doing it, but it got hurt when I moved in... Jamal al-Rockay, a shaman from the desert. Some nobz... The boyz! A grot test... That's all for today (it's late...). Don't hesitate to comment! I will post later some example of desert ork/grot! Magos Takatus
Great work, though I'm ashamed to admit I giggled at the Nob yelling angrily at his arm falling off... "Oi!, what yoo fink yer doin', arm, git back on that stump!" Your Warboss in particular is very imposing, and the paintjob on the Nobz is wonderful. laurelesthardi
Hello B&C, long tome no see! Still working on my desert orks, althought painting is still not my cup of tea... The idea is to convert Hachette Stormbringers models to w40k... Some orks, maybe count as Nobz A big Mek, made from the WarChanter, a model that I really didn't like, si I had to convert it... with his little assistant... Some desert grots... since they were made fo Warhammer regiment, they don't have a lot of variety and lack of dynamism, I try to make their equipment unique... Some are just in project right now... A big mek with his KFC and his chopper... I saw that conversion on the net, I just wanted to have it... And my last (crazy) project... my giant lightning rod for a grot weyrdo... maybe count-as Deffdread? Thank you for reading, don't be afraid to comment! Dr_Ruminahui
Personally, I like the 40K orks more than the AoS ones, but for anyone who doesn't (or just in regards to having a force that is distinctly your own) these kitbashes are brilliant. laurelesthardi
Thank you! I agree with you, I also prefer the 40k orks, they bring a little bit of humour and, ironacally, a little bit of gentelness in this brutal univers where there is only war... I love to kitbash, it's like when I was kid with my Legos: mix everything and have fun... exept that I never cut my thumbs by the time...
