Interesting.  My take aways:

- Warhounds are all T -1, W +2, OC -2 from the index.  Weapons are mostly the same except they all hit on a 3+ (or, in other words, the Brigand and Karnivore lost their 2+ BS/WS respectively).

- Warhound abilities have been tweaked (note - all assumptions on change in power level are ignoring point costs, as we don't have those yet for the codex):

   - Brigand lost -1 AP against closest for Ignores Cover on objectives.  Between this and BS changes, codex version is definitely worse.

   - Huntsman lost reroll 1s to wound and damage vs Vehicle/Monster for reroll all wounds against same.  This seems like a sidegrade, though I probably prefer the index.

   - Karnivore's reroll charges gained reroll advances as well.  Melee weapons gained Sustained 1, WS is -1 as noted.  Again, kind of a sidegrade, though I probably prefer the codex.

   - Executioner's reroll 1s vs below 1/2 strength gained force battleshocks on enemies within 3" of unit it destroyed.  So, codex is better, if barely - any points will likely matter more, IMHO.

Ruinator I haven't gotten a gauge on yet - its an interesting mix of anti-infantry and anti-vehicles, though I do feel too many things have D2 these days.  I'll probably buy one, but put the armpit missiles on top of its carapace (like terminator cyclone missiles) so that I can give it a tilting shield and a sensor (tilting shields are important to me for knights  ).

Randumb mechanic, huzzah. Just off quick glance I'd probably choose Dominion for the first round immediately (simply because everything is so reliant on an aura to begin with) and then just randomly roll it for the rest of the game. Battleshock still isn't a great rule though.

The Dreadblades (allying) rule is the same as the index rule of the same name.  So that didn't change.

The Harbingers of Dread rule is a new implementation of the same theme as in the index.  Don't know what I think about it - didn't much like the old rule (though, battleshock can have relevance if you can force enough tests with penalties, as I did in my last game vs orks with the Knights + mini friends grotmas detachment), and I don't expect to much like this one either, but need time to compare the two to determine which I prefer.

I'd have thought Darkness was the clear first choice - making it a bit of a pain to focus on one knight turn 1 as you close, then perhaps go for Dismay after that to get a chance for short ranged stealth (on basically a 5+ against marines and elites, or a 3+ against hordes).

I had misread and thought the unit had to be both battleshocked and 18" away.

I am pretty sure IKs will match so there is consistency. Knights are rumoured to be getting a significant price drop with the new codices so I guess the balance is that you get more units but they are less durable.

One rumour was that the big Knights would be getting a permanent 4++ to partially offset the reduction in toughness and to allow RIS to be got rid of since it was the only strat used 90% of the time. However the Ruinator still has a 3+/5++ so maybe that rumour was wrong.

Do we have a price for the battleforce at all please?

According to SpikeyBits, the RRPs for the Houndpack Lance Battleforce (7 Wardogs) are £150, €190, $240 and CA$290 respectively. I believe this does not include the Codex but I could be wrong.

Should just be a box of plastic, no codex since they're selling it under the battle force title and not army box.

Thank you kindly.

That's a fraction higher than the EC army box but for the amount of dogs in it, I ain't complaining.
