Very cool to see these guys in plastic.  The jump pack and axe look really oversized to me though.  Hopefully it's just the angle, but I have not been liking the semi recent trend of gigantic melee weapons

This was the biggest surprise of the preview for me, he looks absolutely fantastic.

Wasn't expecting to see them do assault marines in alternative armour, gives me hope that we'll see Mark IV Tacticals & Assault in the (not too distant?) future.

Massive chainaxe aside (which sadly follows the oversizing pattern of the power axes in the melee weapons set), this is a very welcome suprise. I should definitely not add more to my pile of gray, but this design is making me want to revive the jump-pack heavy Imperial Heralds project in the back of my head. Looking forward to seeing the whole squad for more dynamic poses.

I did buy the mark 6 assualt marines for Blood Angels wich are super cool but man are these great. I have the old resin ones as well but I do believe it's time to update my old Ultramarines. Mk 2 as far as the eye can see. Glorious.

-Edit: I also hope this means chain axes are less restrictive. Unless thats like a heavy chainaxe or something.

This guy looks amazing, I hope that's a special chainaxe, I wouldn't want them all to be that size, but it's a lovely model. So chunky.

Agreed I thought the khorne berserker axes were a great scale they look menacing but actually usable

Honestly most of the new 30k melee weapons have been ridiculously oversized. Really throws off the silhouette of the models imho.

Highly disagree. OVER THE TOP is how the 40k setting should be, and the bigger weapons lend to that spectacle.

Yes, 40K.

30K was more refined.

I'm going to have to disagree with you on 40K. A lot of the Book 1 stuff corresponded with the release of models made to go along with the Badab War books that came out a year earlier. I don't like oversized weapons in either format.

I was thinking on that earlier and this is pretty much why I dislike a bunch of the style choices in new Horus Heresy models. They veer to much towards 40k in silly over the topness. To the detriment of both eras.

We already have 40k!The charm for me was to see the before in Horus Heresy aesthetics so you can see how far humanity has fallen into deterioration and superstition. Instead now we get 30k with 40k new flavour! Giant character models and ditto weapons and bling.

As is tradition I blame the introduction of primaris as they broke the fallen empire style in 40k. (this is a joke... Kinda)
