Yeah no, you miss a huge part of the appeal of early HH (v1) and honestly much of what FW was doing back in the day.

Could the seemingly large axe just be a case of forced perspective?

 

It's the closest part of the model in the picture, and the angle could just be making it look oversized - a full 360 and other :cuss:s will really help.

 

Either way, I'll still go with swords as a true Knight of Caliban

Could be, worse it could be a Sgt axe and therefore a larger one-off (I hope this is not the case, I'd really appreciate seeing 1 chainaxe per marine, they really don't need to be gatekeeping them at this point).

They were making a point in the article and during the preview about how huge the axe was, so I don't think it's accidental.

I thought, with how much they were talking about it, it might be a shot across the bow at a specific 30k youtuber who has frequently criticized the overly large size of more recent releases melee weapons.

 

Anyway I personally like these, even if the axe is a bit big, and I think they will be great for SoH Reavers, WE Red Hand Destroyers, etc.
