I like the miniatures, specially the combat shields, a very curious design. I see some interesting references or at least things that reminds others, like video games or films.

The main "but" is the lack of chain swords in this set. If you want this unit with chain swords, you need another box. A pity because I wanted some "Thunder edge" models. And yes, the chain axes look a little bit over sized.

I've been a bit bewildered by the HH releases in general and I am a little disappointed by the lack of chainswords, but I understand there may not be room if they put both axes and shields in the box.   If they had to choose between another box with chainswords and introducing plastic axes and shields I think they made the right call.

Also I think the mk2 jump marines may actually be my favourite unit desgn so far, so I'll end up getting them anyway.   They really do look cool.

For me they've already gone massively overboard with the shields with them being on the MKVI and the command squad sprues, I really don't need them taking up more sprue space.

The axes are to big as several people already pointed out. If they made them smaller they still had the space for chainswords. Aimilar to the ccw kit where they had the brilliant idea to make room for aeveral heads nobody wanted instead of putting more weapons in the weapon kit.

Nonetheless those Assmarines look great and I want them.

Armour is perfect, no notes. Axes I'm not so keen on, but I was going to swap most of them for swords anyway since it's mentioned several times that the 1st particularly favour those over other melee weapons. Nice that there's a disintegrator pistol in there. Do I now want to make a Master of Descent and some Firewing-ordained jump veterans? Probably yes.

I do like these alot, just makes me wish World Eaters had a jump unit. Have been considering a Vashtorr pivot later this year though... so maybe one day in place of Raptors (though I could/should just refurbish the ones i have first probably).

Cheers,

The Good Doctor.

Love seeing these getting released in plastic.  The turbine jump packs are my favorite visually.  This is going to be a rough time on the bank account with all these new releases, not to mention addressing the questions from the wife on why I need new stuff when I already have other old stuff.

The chain axes look maybe a 1/4 larger than I would like.  I’ll need to see them in person to really tell if the size bothers me too much. Fortunately I have enough chain swords left over from the mk VI assault squads and melee upgrade kits that it won’t matter for me.  I know others won’t be as fortunate.  I am slightly surprised (and very grateful) they didn’t do something like give you half chain swords and half chain axes.

Not for a while. They're not in the libers so presumably not a priority :(

I think they will make the mk4 Destroyers in plastic. In their own box. The question is, in box of 10  with just jump packs, like Assault squads, or 5 with, options like jump pack or power backpack and special weapons. In my opinion both can be possible.

Red Hand Destroyers are jump troops with chain axes and Bolt Pistols for World Eaters. And they look cool.

There is even a cool Red Hand Destroyer Captain in Skane who has some cool lore and would be easy to convert. Him and most of his destroyers were ok turning traitor, but tried to leave once all the weird Deamon stuff started, as they were not down with the ruinious powers, they just hated Khorne, even if they were the consumate Bezerkers. Hes killed by Lotara when him and his Destroyers try and flee the conqueror.

I don't mean to dismiss your opinion, but I think they're fine. It's all for effect. If they were smaller they wouldn't look anywhere nearly as brutal and thus not fit the armour and the model would look unbalanced.

I'm more miffed that the 'preview' showed off one unit that we already knew was coming.

I think the balance issue stems from the oversized jump pack. A normal sized chain axe would look fine if the jump pack was more proportional to the model. The original resin Mk 2 jump pack was more compact.

I respectfully disagree.

Neither do I think they look brutal nor do I think it would unbalance the models. To me those weapons look like the equivalent of those foam fingers people use at sport events and not like functioning weapons.

It's the 40k aesthetic which I got bored of years ago imho but as usual in cases of taste there is no correct answer. Just different kind of opinions.

I think these are excellent and I’ll probably “have to” get some. I just have to decide whether to use them as destroyers for my RGs or to put them towards a whole new legion. They’d be perfect for the sons of Horus I’m thinking of doing, or perhaps for revenant blood angels.
