Hey folks, thought I would start a conversation here and away from the madding crowds in the N&R section.

With Heresy v3 on the horizon, what are your plans?

I know an event near me that had fairly reduced numbers and I think a lot of that is players waiting for the new edition and dust to settle. It does cause an impact on existing communities, even as it will bring in new blood.

I will be honest the three year lifespan of HH v2 has meant I'm most likely not going to invest in the rules for this one. I have read supposition that the quick turnaround to a new edition is an acknowledgement by GW that 2.0 was a wrong turn, but we don't know this for sure (this is their MO for other games) and three years, whilst feeling long a long time - young guys on the forum, when you get to a certain age there will be a new edition in what feels like next week!

Having said this the new minis look lovely. I'll most likely get some to either use with a skirmish-level game (KT or OPR) or even a previous version of 30k/40k. Anyway, just wondered what people's plans are for the new edition & ruleset?

I already started my Militia. 500 Points is my goal until 3.0 lands if I can get to 1000 that would be really cool. They will be the infantry to my knights.

After that it's the knights. They are all built an primed in Boltgun Metal. It's 'just' the armor that has to be painted.

I'm really trying to finish the projects I already have going but I always get caught up in the excitement of a new big box and am very tempted to jump straight in.

It doesn't help that the models I want (need!) to finish those projects are FW resin and constantly sold out.

Then I just tell myself I will work on this new thing and pick up the straggling kits as they become available.

Unfortunately new edition always equals new army for me and I want to start some World Eaters.

I have some ideas I am enthusiastic about but currently the hobby idea reach is exceeding financial reality grasp - getting chainaxes on all those shiny new MKII is expensive!

Hoping that the one on the assault marine kit previewed is part of a seperate weapons kit.

I've recently cleared out & sold practically everything except my EC, and despite this, weirdly, for the first time ever in this hobby I don't feel that magpie-like attraction to starting a new force. I am actually just going to keep growing the EC - starting with the new edition boxset.

I've got some conversion bitz ordered to make ten Mk2 into Kakophoni, I'll make another ten as Tacticals too and probably order a pair of Rhinos as well. The Saturnine termies are top priority though - will see their rules and have a think how to run them, I'm inclined to deep strike five with disintegrators and fists though!

Finish my SoH, slowly working through the first tactical squad of my 2k army which I would like to expand up to maybe 3k. Then it will be moving to my Terran Ultras now that Mk2 is a thing again, but I'd also like to work on some mechanicum and 'tech-militia' for the SoH's friends as well as rounding out my Cthonian Headhunters to 2k.

With Mk2 I've also a interest in getting my Grey Legion Blackshields going but they and my other Blackshields idea is on hold until I know what 3.0 brings.

I sold all my armies before moving halfway across the globe and was about to start a fresh new mechanicum army with the 2.0 rules in mind.

But now everything is on hold until I know how good / bad / whatever the 3.0 rules will be, and depending on what version of the game the majority of people end up playing.

I'll pick up the box and the bad guy marine book. Im a sucker for new minis. As I havent even finished my 2.0 night Lords since I can never decide on a good Drop Pod HQ and still havent gotten around to painting the actual drop pods more than a blue primer, I still have some work. Knocking out an assault squad now(for reasons...?) no really, I have no idea why I am painting up a squad since I dont have one in my current list. Especially when I need to be building a HW squad with autocannons I bought the parts to a year ago. Then again everyone in my area that was playing HH is now playing Old World, myself included so its not like there are a lot of games going on.

Also printing up a pair of Sicaran Punishers for my Iron Warriors with Shrapnel bolters all around. Got a new plan for the direction of that, my oldest army that I have had well over a decade. I need some basic infantry dude bros to update the old ones I had back in 1e, many of which are the BaC models and look small.

Also looking at doing another Alpha legion army based on speeders and fast moving units. I havent built one since contrast paints became a thing and I sold my old all rhino and land raider mounted mechanized force back in late 40k 8th edition.

Yes I think I will also sit out the rules for 3.0. I really like some of the ideas but I feel like @Pacific81 said - 2.0 was just last week!? So the armies never got complete.

My aim is to play SquadHammer with Heresy models. Armies will be typically 25 - 30 marines plus one bigger model like a dread or a speeder.

I’m sure box splitters will let me finish off my World Eaters in Mk II and my bits box may help get Blood Angels and Alpha Legion to those levels.

I've decided to turn 10 of the mk2 into Space Wolves. Gonna work on my sculpting to do some beards and hair.

I am working through a Thousand Sons army and have nearly painted the models equivalent to the Burning of Prospero boardgame.

I painted the entire contents of the boardgame as Iron Warriors so have promised myself that when the Thousand Sons are done I will paint some Space Wolves to play it with the correct Legions.

Still have to paint up the Sisters as well though...

Ah, so you're the guy that bought the Saturnine box on eBay.

Ha ha....no.  I'm torn on whether to get one, actually.  I'll probably do it, but the box on its way now is old Iron Tenth FW models that sat in a pile of shame for years.
