Idoneth had 2 weeks of previews

Yeah I honestly wouldn’t be shocked to see Templars get something else as well.

that said, I also wouldn’t be shocked if they didn’t

Still nothing about the new combat patrol? Hasn't Valrak said anything about that yet?

I've just seen that Auspex Tactics said this in his video about this ancient model:

I've heard it'll contain Sword Brethren and Bladeguard Veterans this time around and contain only infantry.

That looks incredible. The Templars really did well out of their Primarisification.

Templars and Space Wolves got pretty lucky. F in chat for Blood Angels.

Lol everyone who thought the Templars were getting a special Chaplain.

As long as they get a detachment that focuses on Chaplains and Judiciars I'll be content.

I'm more just annoyed that I already know he's just gonna be Ancient-But-Better.

Big gif inbound from Valrak. He mentioned this ancient before the inital primaris release wave.

The ancient mentioned was just a conversion by a GW employee.

It was never a part of the initial wave of rumours.

I had solid info back then for the release and no ancient was part of it.

It did get to meme status, which makes it funny that it happened now.

To be honest, I wouldn't be surprised if the Chaplain rumour pans out as well. As pointed out elsewhere Idoneth had two weeks of reveals pop up; it wouldn't be a huge stretch to see that apply to Warhammer 40,000 as well.

Do dig the new model. I've been sat on my Black Templars launch box and still haven't done anything with them.

Is the cover art partially AI created?

I think Ai could do better at this point. The proportions are just where the problems start the armour doesnt look like power armour - looks like someone has taken some artwork of a knight from the crusades added some gubbins to it and replaced the head badly. Chaplain in the background looks motionless the neophyte in the front is the only element where some attention was spent.

The ancient was blatantly done at the same time as the 2021 templar stuff and was held back from release.  It happens.

Like I said. No such ancient existed at time.

It was the conversion by maxime corbeil that got confused for a new model.

It is very possible two people are giving true information that contradicts other true information. Especially since Val has a much better and longer track record than you.

For starters I don't do rumours, so i don't have a record. In this instance I was the first one to bring to his attention about the BT release, and then he has his sources that confirmed it. And in this case, that was the ancient that was mixed up for a new model.

Anyway, it's a new model and I'm happy, and hopefully not the only one.

That's a lovely conversion of some classic artwork (shame it's not Mk V.). The models are definitely better than the Codex cover, although I don't think the perspective or the pose helps there; marine armour often doesn't look quite so convincing in that position, but the proportions definitely seem off in this piece. I would have thought you should also be able to see more of the backpack. The scout and terminator seem fine, but somehow the central figure has just gone wrong and I am not sure why given the rest of the piece.

From a design perspective, it's interesting that GW are now leaning in on the high-medieval bucket/great helms. They look nice, but I think they could perhaps have been realised more subtly and still looked cool. Perhaps they are trying to differentiate the Templars more from the later medieval stylings of other Chapters, by leaning more on the crusader-iconography of tabards and great helms. Personally, I think a little more chainmail might also work (and has been done on marines before) as it ties nicely into the aesthetic, but that's just me.

Signs point to a nice range and I will be interested in what they come out with.

Like my issue now, is how far the next ed is, so if anyone in the backend of this ed gets a codex early on in the coming cycle, its not a great:ermm:

How many dexs are left now:ermm:

If it's a small update edition, which is what all rumors and experience and precedent point to, the Codexes will be usable for years still.

They index every other edition, at current precedent. This is an unfounded fear.
