Service to the Imperial House nets these brainwashed bodyguards first dibs on the Palanite armouries, which means they all get a disintegration gun… That’s right, those very same weapons that were considered too lethal for common use in the Horus Heresy. Here’s our advice, don’t get caught holding up signs saying “Down with Helmawr” if you enjoy having all your molecules bonded together.

This pair of Forge World resin miniatures come as they are, with rules in the box that you can also find in the upcoming Bastions of Law book.

....Wait the Imperium still has Disintegrators for mid-level hive elite bodyguards?

I am 90% sure there are more people who would rate these guards in the Imperium than there are Astartes. Necromunda feels actively toxic to the setting at times for the stuff they just casually distort.

Yup they're finding their way into my Solar Auxilia army, especially as it seems I'll need a couple more command models now.

Also increasingly feeling the pull of an Enforcers gang. Always liked the core models but all these new additions might be enough for me to jump in.

I do get the "raised eyebrow" response to the guns though. I know disintegrators are flavour of the week but I'm not sure they're quite the right fit here.

I guess there's an argument that these sort of Necromundan hijinks are the edge case - a world with a concentration of all sorts of crazy stuff that is atypical of the Imperium at large.

You're right, it does feel super weird though.

There are always going to be a some large hiveworlds with small examples of archaeotech in use that is not common in the imperial armed forces at large.  Its part of the paradox of the imperium.

These are fantastic models.  The enforcer range keeps getting better!

Good proxies for Solar Auxillia or Leagues of Votaan with those jackets! Disintegration guns are such an odd choice for these guys. How are the local Ad-Mech going to react to seeing non-sanctified weapons (whatever about random gangers, these guys are supposed to be the cream of the pananites representing House Helmawr).

Necromunda does as it wants, and really abuses the fact that it is one of the Imperial Fists recruiting worlds. That involves pulling stunts that normally would have a mechanicus gorce tearing the place apart if they caught even a whiff of a percent of what it has to offer

I sort of agree, in the sense that I really like the general lawlessness of the setting and I don't find that to be a problem at all, despite the Imperium being a tyrannical dystopia - I mean, the Imperium is simply too inefficient to effectively crack down on everything that's not kosher in the high lords' book. However, I also tend to frown upon some of the "high sci-fi" tech that abounds, because I think the setting is much more charming when it's about lowlifes with guns that are duct taped together, than when it's about elite squads with jetpacks and hoverboards.

First thing that came to mind for me too. These things used to be like: a single special character from the HH Dark Angels know for esoteric tech gets one. Now everyone and their brother has one laying around.

That doesn't actually work.

These guys aren't Helmawr's guards, they are guards and lifewards for enforcers still down in the ranks enough to be in a gang scuffle. Crest or not, you don't matter that much if your boss can still order you to go fight the lunatics with with candle-rats.

Scale that to Necromunda as a whole and there are probably enough of these buggers running around to outfit entire regiments of Guardsmen, much less every Veteran Astartes in existence (which is about 100k tops).

I know the meme about GW being bad at math but its pretty egregious when you recall there are as many Planetary Governors as there Astartes... their personal armies should not be better equipped than literal angels or the Guard would never be able to quell a Hiveworld that goes rogue.

I think the Disintegrators make sense (besides the fact that we've had stats for these guys for about 2ish years now anyway) since they were banned from the Astartes Arsenal and had to go somewhere after that, right?

Necromunda is a Marine Recruitment World, maybe the Imperial Fists just put the Disintergrators into a warehouse somewhere in the spire and told Lord Helmwar that those were his problem now.

Just now, Captain Idaho said:

Don't like these. Fully enclosed armoured suits complete with a coat, you know, in case it rains out.

The coat is probably to give them an air of authority in a part of the Hive where their armoured suit doesn't cut it due to the occasional Imperial Fist going for a stroll.

Yeah, a big armoured dude with an ancient, archaic firearm won't scare those shoplifters... he needs a coat.

:teehee:

(Being cheeky with my youngest son here)

Less scaring shoplifters, more not embarrassing the VIP you've been assigned.

Judging by production timelines these guys have had Disintergrators for at least a year before the HH3.0 disintegrators were designed.

It's just that now they have a modern design for a disintergrator they can finally put out an official model for these 2.

I don't really see the problem. It's not as if these are being given to just random budget level guards as if they're unimportant trinkets. These are specifically the elite, highest tier guards who are being furnished with equipment by the ruling house of the hive world, getting access to the best stuff because they're going around with them. If anyone is going to have access to absurdly rare, irreplacable, long-lost tech then I think the ruling house of Necromunda is a pretty likely choice.

There's a difference in space marines not using disintegrators (because they are too archaic, hard to maintain and dangerous to the valuable user to equip each marine with one - that's about 2million+ disintegrators) and a hundred or so special arms officers in one city on one planet who might have them, especially as my van saars are wandering around with rad cannons and grav guns.
