I was looking at the Vulkan datasheet download again, and it got stealth updated to still be D6+3 shots. Pretty mighty range weapon.

85 PTS is pretty insane for Shaan, definitely some RG loving going on. Am I right in thinking he has no way to join a unit?

Imperial fist patrol found its way to the store. And another gorgeous addition to the array of transfer sheets available. Especially with the addition of Crimson Fists, or rather, the addition of successor chapters to transfer sheets in general.

 

Also, while generally less useable for anyone else on average the Salamanders sheet has some nice additions in the form of golden veteran markings, lines of text, and campaign badges, though sadly they omit any successors. (Though Covenant of Fire icons can be found in the Chaos Marine Sheet, weird that)

They should sell all those transfer sheets on their own, as a regular product, even if it's just online only direct from GW like the HH sheets.

They would make a pretty penny but I guess it's better to force people to pay stupid prices on ebay and such or buy an entire box of miniature you don't need?

Definitely hope there's another way to get those transfers down the line. How many Company Heroes kits does a Fists player need? Or how many copies of Suboden Khan will a White Scars player want?

 

As for the Fists Combat Patrol, that's still not up on the New Zealand site, so I assume it's yet another supply issue that I missed the announcement for.

 

I also didn't realize that the space given over to the Knights of the Raven on the RG transfer sheet is actually a little bit of a trojan horse. For those players who still go with the white shoulder pauldrons for veterans, that "successor chapter" section is where they'll be able to source all of their black chapter icons.

 

I also remember thinking it was weird that Raven Guard were frozen out of getting Scout iconography when the Kill Team set dropped even though they were being used as the exemplar chapter. I guess anyone who followed the suggestion to stick squad markings on the shoulder instead (even though it made zero sense with the current 10th company setup for a Scout Squad to be 7th squad) can now peel those off and replace them with the proper Scout markings they should have had all along.

While I don't think he is bad looking, I do have a couple issues with Shaan. The feathery boa gone wild for a start. I also would have given him a different weapon other than lightning claws (although in the Uriel Ventris novel that he is in, does he have claws in that too?). I think it would have been cool to have him wield some sort of chapter relic thunder hammer or two handed sword, or even Nykona Sharrowkin's paired relic power swords, versus another RG jump pack character with claws. ... /yawn. It's getting too cookie cutter, and I'm a big fan of the Raven Guard. 

 

The Iron Hands Terminator character is great except ... for the Tetsubo looking power club? I would have gone with a chapter relic thunder hammer, or large sword.

 

Lysander looks great. The White Scar character looks great. The new Ultramarines look great and I'm so glad Calgar went back to his terminator armor! His gravis armored model and Frick and Frack, were not very well done especially compared to what is out now for named characters and elites (except Sanguinary Guard lol). 

 

On that note I'm REALLY looking forward to the new Pedro Kantor, and the Dark Angels Ezekiel and Sammael models.

IMO buying GW faction themed dice for 40k is a rip off these days. 

 

At 16 dice per pack, and here in the states they're $29.99 (but price may be going up this month for them, IDK for sure?), you realistically need 3 packs for a full set to play 40k with. So that's $90 not including tax. You're looking at right under $100 with tax.

 

Feh! For that amount of money for dice you can do a big 50 count set from Baron of Dice at $60 + shipping, or go to one of your favorite 40k YouTube channels such as Tabletop Tactics, Art of War, Auspex Tactics, or Play on Tabletop for example, and rep them with their dice for 40k! Several of those sets are also made by Baron of Dice so you're looking at that same price point which is a good one imo. I have 60 Tabletop Tactics dice of their OOP Jade set, I love them, and have had them for two years now, sure at 60 count they were around $110 USD incl shipping to the states,  but I could have done 40, which is fully functional for 40k, at under $70 USD incl. shipping. And they're cooler (and better quality) imo that most of what GW makes ;) ...

 

I've seen GW continually reduce the number of their faction dice per set each edition, some not looking very good to be honest, and keeping the same price point. Heck with that nonsense! Especially given the competition out there! I've closed the door on buying GW faction themed dice, in previous editions I loved them, bought tons, but nah I'll pass now.

I've been playing Iron Hands for 20 years, and the only makers of dice I've ever encountered that manufacture anything with an Iron Hands sigil on them. . . was GW.  So yeah, I've got Baron's dice for other games, for my Alpha Legionnaires, but I'll probably pick up some GW Iron Hands dice because I'm a sucker for bespoke stuff.

I get it, when you're in that sorta squeeze. 

 

I've always seen the 8th edition Iron Hands dice go cheap on eBay. Sets of 20 too. Some people say they hated the 8th edition dice for space marine chapters but man I had 60 for my Dark Angels and they rolled like champs! I loved them! However I did originally get 4 sets and literally between 4 sets there were nearly 20 that had weird lumps under the surface and I tossed 'em.

I'm really looking forward to the rules reveals for the new Iron Hands and White Scars characters.

 

Fingers crossed the jetbike is a precursor to a full unit. It looks so much better than the Outriders and has far better firepower. Imagine full squads of them.

I like the new data sheets, models and detachments. I picked up two of the RG models. I will get around to posting pics on my respective threads, but I did some slight conversions to make one for my Red Scorpion Angstrom army to try and get a little bit away from my typical armored fist style Vanguard detachment. The other I did a bunch more conversion and got rid of the Imperial stuff, added different shoulder pads, jet pack, head and so on and made a Night Lord Talon Master. Overall its a great model for conversions for jump characters.

 

The Emperor's Shield and Raven's claw(?) detachments are pretty fun detachments. Im looking forward to using them especially the Shield one as I love terminators and this gives me an excuse to use 20+ of them.

Today’s article on the new Khan makes a lot of mentions of veteran Outriders. I’m guessing some sort of Outrider bonus if Khan is leading the special detachment.

Why would I need three packs of dice to play 40k? I don't get it. I agree that GW dice are really pricey, but why do you need 48 dice to play warhammer?

Theoretical: for my Intercessor shooting. Practical: I tend to just roll 20 dice twice.

Rolling 40 dice feels awesome but you don't NEED to buy GW dice for any real reason.

 

And anecdotally, GW dice always roll poorly. I haven't used any of mine for more than a few games before they got relegated to being wound counters.

Yep, Chessex basic dice are good enough for me. I have a few fancier dice I got on clearance when their game (Robotech) went OOB.
