Inquisitor_Lensoven
As someone who knows very little about the iron hands my perception of them has always been heavy armor brute force attacks, and defense. I’ve never viewed them as duelists, or as favoring highly refined and intricate tactics and strategies. so to me a big ‘smash ‘em up techno-club’ seems very appropriate to me. Rhavien
Have to say I don't like Vulkan Hestaan's flamerfist design. It's basically the same as before, but I think it's a missed opportunity. He can only throw backhands around, otherwise he would just trash the nozzle. It also doesn't look retractable. Yeah I was never a fan of that design myself, but when you have a flamethrower on your hand, you don’t really need to be punching people with that hand. if you’re out of fuel doesn’t matter much if you damage the nozzle. Nephaston
It's also not a melee weapon at all. He'stan can only use the spear in melee. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/386297-first-founding-champions-combat-patrols/page/6/#findComment-6123818 Share on other sites
Brother Tyler
For those who wish to pursue the discussion about the thematic influences on the Iron Hands and whether or not Caanok Var's club/maul is appropriate to that theme, I've created this discussion in the + ADEPTUS ASTARTES + forum so that we don't disrupt this discussion further. ggergnayr, Marshal Reinhard and Iron Father Ferrum 1 2 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/386297-first-founding-champions-combat-patrols/page/6/#findComment-6123854 Share on other sites
beefeb
Khan is amazing, hestan and Lysander too. Iron hands is fantastic. Im going to go against the general trend here over the Raven Guard though....I think its awful. Far too busy, and while the mk6 style head is excellent...the other two are awful...particularly emo-crow! RG is wild for people either loving it or hating it, I don't think you're against the grain at all. I gotta say for five space marine characters they all get wildly different reactions and that is in my mind a sign they actually managed to distinguish them a lot. ggergnayr, DemonGSides, HolyPestilience and 3 others 4 2 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/386297-first-founding-champions-combat-patrols/page/6/#findComment-6124171 Share on other sites
LSM
With the Raven Guard, I wonder if it's a result of people strongly liking one of their two themes over the other. Y'know: the "tactical precision", sneaky, guerilla warfare specialists, versus the Emo, "Nevermore", our-unstable-geneseed-turns-us-goth motifs. Shaan definitely leans into the latter. skylerboodie 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/386297-first-founding-champions-combat-patrols/page/6/#findComment-6124227 Share on other sites

Borbarad
I expected those to be published alongside a new SM codex later this year. I hope they realised a second SM codex so late into the edition would've not been received well and so they dropped it. If rumours are to be believed, we're less than a year away from 11th edition and the obligatory SM codex to launch it. Tastyfish
I thought the second codex was Valrak speculating, based on there being a interim marine release for the first foundings? Between Hive Fleet Typhon brining Tyranid terrain, raveners and NPO stats for all the little bugs from Leviathan, and this recent range of new marine characters - I wonder if the plan is more to have a little boost to keep those that were brought into 40K with Leviathan interested, so that they are invested when the next edition hype begins early next year. Kind of surprising that these guys didn't count out for the next set of narrative books - but that might be to allow room for something else. Books have been printed a long time ago and are sitting in a warehouse. GW doesn’t change releases because of some forum being negative about something Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/386297-first-founding-champions-combat-patrols/page/6/#findComment-6125938 Share on other sites
jimbo1701
Interesting that they put out the salamanders one on its own first. I wonder if the rest will be drip fed with the fists one being next (as was also on the roadmap).
