I hope when this version of the Deathwatch Vets gets rules they go in both the IA Codex and the DW Index.

That'd be a good sign that DW might survive as a "Divergent Chapter" Marine Faction in 11th.

Love the terrain but it looks like soooo much work to paint.

I dunno, I painted a set of the Gallowdark/Boarding Actions terrain, that really took some doing - so many little details  I think these could be done with various sprays, some masking tape, and washes, for a lot less effort

This set is fantastic  I can't help but feel a little sad that GW release this a few months after the finale of a campaign for which I scratch built a load of Necron Tomb World terrain

Will I still get it though?

...yeah, absolutely :biggrin::laugh:

For the (now) inevitable sequel campaign, right?

Between the two archetypes: the first being homogenous, best possible combination of war gear applied to every member of the KT, and the alternative old school Repulsor style with eclectic mix of wargear options, I think the second is way more interesting and flavourful.

Yeah it's interesting until you actually put it on the table and need to roll ten different weapons on a single squad.

What chapters on the shoulder pads?

Red Scorpion, Flesh Tearers, Raptors, Ultramarines, White Scars, Salamanders, Imperial Fists, a Space Wolves successors who I've forgotten the name of and a Dark Angels Successor I've forgotten the name of.

There's also a few who you can't see the Paldron of.

Cheers. Wolfspears and guardian of the covenant with crossed swords I think.

I hope there are a few more. Wanted some void tridents one lol (pipedream)

Oh Indy, you mad evil genius, you made my day! I never even thought of this, but there's even precedent: the Sanctifiers got cards for both Sisters and Hereticus.

Now, temper my expectations... Have to remember that GW has missed brilliant opportunities like this before.

Dare I dream that GK get a KT that does the same thing?

Okay, now back to this box: I love the DW models. I've never really engaged with Necrons- I've never had anything against them, just other collecting/ modelling projects in the way. But this terrain makes me want to rock a full-on Pariah Nexus campaign. It's fabulous! I didn't get Typhon, but I loved the tyranid terrain, and it had the same co-op vibe. I want to support this trend so that GW keeps it up- I want Eldar terrain SO much!

But this stuff? Just awesome. I need to finish my Watchmaster, Kyria Draxus and Corvus Blackstar.. I've got two units of Aggressors (five built and basecoated) and three Outriders, though those will require conversion for the shoulderpads. But even just Draxus + this DW Team in a Blackstar is a wicked little starter force. I loves me the small game!

scenery is awesome.

I absolutely love the deathwatch... like, a huge amount. Very nice indeed. The unique heads are great and I love the blend of the previous killteam style and the various mkX armours. Lots of character and variety to be had there as a result.

Very interesting to see what this means for the future of deathwatch in 40k though. They'll get added as allies to my blood angels for sure. If i need to include an inquisitor, I have the one from warhammer+

Deathwatch look nice, though I'm sad this means the inevitable retirement of the older DW kits (especially as IIRC they're pretty decently scaled) and that this particular loadout will be the only option available 'cuz no-model-no-rules. But as sculpts they are very good. I like the heavy bolter with the combi-flamer, that's a very nice weapon. Necrons look cool, I like the weird scuttly floaty Warriors. Also the terrain is very good.

tbf, it looks like it covers pretty much all the old sets loadout, and actually has somewhat more options? I guess massed power swords wont be a thing now...

The necron side feels very disappointing.

I would of liked Pariah team more, but I think expanding the Canopteks is a great thing. We now have a nice in-between of the scarabs and Wraiths/Spyders

So weapons not seen in the Deathwatch team so far are the Shotguns and I think the Heavy Bolter/Flamer Hybrid gun.

Everything else is there.

Here's the Infernus Heavy Bolter:

Thanks.

Can't believe I missed that.

Heavy combi weapons? Be still my beating heart

Minor minor quibble for me of no frag cannon

Isn't that the Frag Cannon?

Even if they include almost every weapon from the previous kit it’s a bit meaningless if we can only equip one of them per squad as there is only one in the kit. I’ll buy this to play purely for kill team but I’m not too hopeful for the Deathwatch rules in 40K, I can see it being a bit of a car crash of a unit.
Even if it’s point costed aggressively it will be a pain to play and roll for every weapon. Shields will likely be locked to the maul, and other combos squatted from the profile. Combi weapons also seem to he gone.

Honestly it would have been best to release multiple kill team kits with a focus on different weapons i.e. melee vs ranged so the units can have coherent loadouts. I don’t think it’s possible to make good DW rules for 40K with GW’s current rules policies regarding kits.
