Who is this nobody? We got years of loved main protagonists characters, fell enemies and supporting characters, so we can have this irrelevant spod?

Amazing

I was so disappointed when the White Consuls finally got a character sculpt, and instead of the White Angel we got Captain Who Cares. Would have been a perfect opportunity to release Marduk for the heretics too!

He's getting a series of novels, apparently.

I'm sure we'll soon find out that he was instrumental in many Imperium victories and political accomplishments lol

Isn't Uriel Ventris a Black Library character as well? He's stuck around and his rules seem to be a permanent fixture now.

I was a bit surprised that Titus doesn't seem to be a permanent inclusion and is not available on the official GW website.

I think these famous and popular characters shouldn't be limited in any way.

I have no issue with another character for the Ultras, but in my opinion all of the codex chapters should have a minimum of 3 unique characters, or 2 characters and a unique infantry/vehicle unit.

I agree and would like to add: every craft world, kabal, cult, coven, ork clan, forge world, chaos legion, sept, etc etc etc

Bring on more variation in each army!

Uriel Ventris got a model long after he became popular in BL novels (not counting the very poor BL diorama version of course).

This guy seems to be getting one before he gets any significant popularity or profile.  Bit like the Minka Lesk models.  Nice models, but the main reaction is - Who?

All company colours have an acceptable metallic alternative (like gold for the 2nd's correct yellow). That's what they've done here, compare the trims to the gold on the various decorative bits, it's clearly more orangey.

yes indeedy....my first company use silver trim....looks far better to me personally!

i am however still waiting on a Cato Sicarius model....hes been waiting far longer than any other and has a multitude of books he appears in.

Shouldn't he have orange shoulder trim if he's 6th Company Captain?

In Insignium Astartes the 6th Co is more of a coppery color than true orange. Although there is an image of a shoulder pauldron later in the book that is hard orange.

Decent enough model but I have to echo the sentiment that, with the many, many, many BL characters people actually want to get models (Ciaphas Cain, Jurgen and Amberly Vail for starters) this seems like a very strange choice.

My guess is 11th edition Ultramarine release.

It’s pushing Dawn of Fire, and someone at BL really wants DoF to be more than it was, in my opinion.

DoF was wasted as a weak retcon of Psychic Awakening’s purpose.

The position of Master of Rites is part of the 6th captaincy, that's why he has it.

Right, my point was more of, why 6th Company/Master of the Rites specifically

Master of Rites is supposed to be a senior Captain that almost serves as a pseudo Chaplain, who is consulted on making sure the members of the chapter fight and act in accordance with Chapter doctrine and tradition

So GW made the guy that didn't even want to be part of the Ultramarines, has no real connection with the chapter, etc, the Master of Rites, rather than one of the other companies that doesn't have that much lore (so barring the 1st, 2nd, and 4th) like the 8th, where he'd fit the role more as the Lord Executioner who's supposed to be a little more withdrawn/likes close combat and not being super over the top heroic/would ultimately make him more interesting given that he's supposed to be watching the rest of the chapter that he didn't even want to be a part of

40K Ultramarines haven't felt like Ultramarines for a while now. This bloke doesn't even want be one, by some din of choice?

I remember when Ultramarines were Greco-Roman in theme and proud warriors. Now they're petulant, ungrateful recruits who feel entitled to service gratitude from the institutions of the mysterious and aloof Chapters?

Yuk.
