So far the "Minor" Chaos factions we have on the tabletop (Lesser CSM, Traitor Guard and Chaos Beastmen) have all been rolled into the base CSM codex.

For the lesser CSM Legions this makes sense as they lack enough unique units to really be their own thing (Nightlords seem to be making an effort against their as of late) but for the other minor factions it feels like a stopgap solution in a way.

Traitor Guard are lorewise the most common form of Chaos faction faced besides Cultists but there's simply not enough avaliable now for them to be a full army. Likewise for the Chaos Beastmen as the Fellgors are our only representatives for that group (Tzaangors don't count).

If (or when) GW decide to add DarkMech to the tabletop, they will probably also end up in CSM alongside the above units but unless they're released as their own brand new army from the jump I doubt there'll be enough DarkMech for them to not be in CSM.

Unless they take all the other Damned units with them.

CSM already has rules for poaching other Factions units, so it stands to reason they could just be given the ability to poach units from a spun-off Chaos Mortals codex.

On the other hand it could end up being something like the IA codex where it's primary function is letting every other Chaos faction steal units from it which would give the Cult Marines the ability to take things like Traitor Guard.

You ask excellent questions…sadly I don’t know the answers. There are some good fan Traitor Guard codices on the internet. I plan on asking my next opponent if I can use one of them.   But it would be nice if we had more official rulesets.

If this was previous editions (like 5th through 7th), I think we'd already have a LatD supplement that encompasses rules for armies of Chaos mortals. Ideally it would be an extension of the forge world rules

Given how 10th edition is detachment focused and GW is "no model, no rules"  focused, the best I can see is getting is a Brood Brothers style detachment to take guard vehicles in CSM.

I'd love a standalone LatD codex that works kind of like Drukhari, with distinct subfactions completing one army: Cultists/Mutants, Traitor Guard, and Dark Mech. I just don't see it happening

No idea. I stick to 2nd and 5th ed because I can't be bothered buying the same book every three years. Much easier. I'd love it if GW did release a full range for traitor guard, but knowing them they'd probably do it three months before the new edition then write them back out again.

Meanwhile, in 5th you get the vraks army lists and the good chaos codex and in 2nd you just use the regular guard rules and ally with chaos codex units. Lazy is a very good word for my attitude, but at least it's easy

I guess we can hold out hope for Grotmas for that maybe?

Tho it'd basically be Chaos Cult +50% Guard.
