Kill Team Dead Silence. Tau vs Space Wolves

Wasn't expecting to see this on a friday afternoon. New Kill Team box set featuring Tau Stealth Suits and Wolf Scouts.

Is this one going to come with the wall terrain? Or is it just the two squads? Typically, these follow-up boxes would feature some new accessory piece that expanded the terrain rules, but there was no picture or explanation of that in the write-up. The new scouts look amazing. The Tau suits are also there...

Those are some fine looking wolf scout models.

 

The tau ones look nice enough but they're definitely being overshadowed here

Scouts look awesome! And I will say I'm impressed by the stealth suit update. They actually look mobile now.

Yeah, it doesn't mention any terrain. It does refer to an earlier article where the volkus terrain and the necron terrain is combined in gameplay. That would make the dossier, etc. a bit niche/specific, wouldn't it?

 

Having said that: both teams look awesome...this might just end up under the Christmas tree for me and my kid

Updating the stealth suits (and drones) to be in line with the Ghostkeel style is the right move. Nice one GW.

Personally I'm not a fan of those T'au stealth updates - I don't think the dirty paintjob is helping either.

 

SW Scouts a bit better, but the repeat poses on only seven marines (unless they are alternate builds and you get less?) is disappointing.

 

And no new terrain incentive?

 

Probably the least excited I've been for a Kill Team box in a while, but Tomb World and forthcoming Shadowhunt are both great; can't all be bangers.

You have to love how the Space Wolves give 0 :cuss:s about the codex and instead just go "here Phobos guys, just use everything you can carry"

 

Also, is the Tau side just an upgrade sprue for the current Stealth Team or are they new as well?

Wolf Scouts and the Stealthsuits look good! It's a bit of a shame the Wolf Scouts are in Phobos armour as opposed to Scouts' carapace armour, but the bits are excellent. I really like the heads.

I'm sure Valrak will be along shortly to take his credit for the SW kill team rumors proving accurate.  Personally, I wish they'd held off a little longer on them - I've already spent my hobby budget for the year, but as a Space Wolves and now Kill Team player I really don't want to skip out on this set.

Love the sculpts of both teams here, but its really continuing to undermine the purpose of physical codex releases when 3 months after there's a new unit that wasn't included.

 

Also two back to back Marine focused Kill Team releases, with the third being Chaos Marines is ... a lot of astartes.

Genuinely shocked that this box isn't Ordo Malleus adjacent. Kits look cool though, thankfully as I'm not interested in either faction I'm comfortable giving it a miss.

Best we got is the Chapter that publically humiliated the Ordo Malleus and cost the GK more resources than most Daemonic incursions.

 

So hyped for these, the Scouts look especially great.

Nice, glad to see GW is using KT to give updates to units that really needed them. Mandrakes, Raveners, Stealth Suits, Vespids... And there's the future release of a brand new Nightbringer too.

Yeah I was hoping for an upgrade sprue for the new Primaris scouts. Never liked this armor style. Missed opportunity imo.

Agreed. Unless more information is forthcoming, the Wolf Scout team is just SW specific alternative sculpts for Phobos Librarian and Infiltrators and/or Reivers.

The Space Wolves look really excellent, continuing the trend of having the best designs of all the marine factions. But yeah, it is bonkers that they release the new unit so soon after the codex. They should have coordinated these releases so that this unit could have been included in the book.  

 

I'm not sold on the new stealth suit design. Whilst the models look more detailed, I actually prefer the helmet being integrated to the torso like in the old design.

Can your infiltrators/reivers take power weapons and plasma guns?
