Very... odd choice of coloring.

I appreciate the attempt to render them as more strange, more alien, but it's hard to divorce the design from the motivation behind. Someone pointed to the normal Skitarii and said "Okay, so we've made the insane decision to draw a hard line between these two factions even though they're literally the same faction, so you need to make a knock-off of these models. Legally distinct. So we won't, like, sue ourselves."

"Alright team how do we ensure no one purchases these skitarii to proxy for 40k?"
"we make them taller, almost like stilts thats original right?"
"genius!"
"And they'll come in boxes of 8 instead of 10"
:teehee:

Edit: beat me by a minute haha

I feel like this may be a hot take, but I generally have disliked all the Mechanicum stuff bar the Automata, and these Skitarii take the cake. Maybe it's a bad paint job, but I feel like AdMech Skitarii just look so much better

This was my big watchpoint for the show. I'm midway through kitbashing a Mechanicum/Salamanders force that uses 40k Skits bashed up with 30k Auxilia, so these could really change the course of my project.

I don't think these are particularly hot. The silhouettes are incredibly odd, as if they're all missing machinator/auspex arrays and shoulder pads. 30k AdMech has had pretty clean designs so far so it's weird that these guys look so crumpled and worn. It's not necessarily inaccurate but it's just weird to have these look to be in worse shape than both 30k Thralls and 40k Skits. Without context I'd guess these were 40k Darkmech scouts.  I was excited to check these out but I think the design only really works for the marshall. I'm bummed but I think you could do a really cool Secutarii upgrade kit for these and accommodating that might be why these look so wonky.

Very strange. They did the stilt-guy thing with 40K Mechanicus and it was generally derided (in my experience).

They must have decided that making the stilts a bit shorter was the solution.

Vulturax, on the other hand, looks great and will definitely be getting added to my Mechanicum.

Beside design of the skitarii which is... different, this is the most exciting part of the reveal for so far. At least for 30/40k. The Vulturax is a kit I have been waiting for a long time.

I gues the skitarii will reinstall a kind of flex we lost when mitralock thrall passed away. Plus a, let s hope, scouting hability in addition. My only question mark would be if the extension book will bring other things. A publication with a single unit inside and rest recycled would be frustrating.

Stilt fetish guy needs to go. 8 per box too...normal skitarii existed they are on bloody book covers for the HH

Hard hard pass, gw needs to let this mania of no cross system minis go. Perfect chance to update the skitarii box wasted.

I don't mind them, I just don't seem a need for their existing beyond internal politics.

I was initially all "those are an interesting alternative take on skitarii, that's nice to see".

Then 30 seconds later I remembered that GW already make skitarii and that half the mechanicum range is still in resin. So 3/10 for me.

I like the new Skitarii for the most part, though i am not sold on the heads. It was actually Skitarii in the Admech and Necron battleforce box that introduced Armiger knights that brought me back into the hobby after leaving in the end of 5th. So I have a special love for Skitarii. I will probably get some, though my back log is long.

I'm surprised how much flak they're getting. The 40k Skitarii always felt kind of 'off' to me in a slightly goofy way (albeit less than most of the range), whereas these feel like they stepped right out of a Blanche piece.
