Inquisitor_Lensoven
The anti-star fighter, boarding craft type weapons. i can’t remember any specifics being given about any of those weapons in any of the novels I’ve read. so are they generally just things like autocannons, lascannons and heavy bolters, or do they mention specific weapon heavier than what might be used and moved by infantry, but smaller than titan class main weapons? like maybe Vulcan mega bolters maybe? Karhedron
Several novels mention point defense weapons on starship but I don't recall then being specified. Lascannons would make sense as they are more or less instantaneous and work better in the void than in atmosphere. Not sure if Bolter rounds would work in the absence of oxygen (although Marines are described as fighting in vacuum on some occasions). Yeah I do recall one of the BA books Dante is telling the story of how he became the chapter master and he was fighting in the vacuum with a bolter of some sort. Brian_Sisk
I’d say think of them as bridging the gap between infantry-portable weapons and full-on capital ship guns. So, something like Vulcan mega bolters could definitely fit heavy, rapid, and designed for sustained fire against small, fast targets. They’re too big for a single soldier but not massive like a titan’s main gun. Casual Heresy
In everything I've read, the Navy's point defence weaponry is not really defined. The only 'small' weapon in a ship's armament I recall being named are lascannons. If I recall correctly, Garro orders a lascannon emplacement on Eisenstein to shoot down Tarvitz's pursuers in either Galaxy in Flames or Flight of the Eisenstein (might be both).
