Sume
Greetings. It's been a long while I think since I posted under the orks section. I really wanted to make an ork army around 2016ish. It never materialized due to me doing other projects, money and life and so on getting in the way. Now I have a chance to fix that. A friend of mine has invited me to several 40k narrative events this year and plan for next year. Even got different armies for if something I actually enjoy gets hit so hard with the nerf hammer, its not enjoyable. As I been a long term Sister player and fan of the Inquisition you can tell what I mean. Anyway this year we did the LVO doubles in January with Space Marines, and my Sisters of Battle. They where my first games of 10th. Then we decided it be fun to do Necron/Tyranid combos. I am still finding my feet with Necrons but my friend loves his bugs. He, also found enough for me to make a decent or what I think is decent enough Grey Knights list and we started talking about Orks. As he's a long time player of Orks. I told him my only requirements for Orks was to have Ork bikers on Harlequin bikes. Keep this in mind as this is going to be a theme for the ork armies in doubles or single events. Well I was set to start painting in on the orks but then he surprised me with the release of Emperor's Children and since I am a big sucker for Slaanesh. I went all in for it. Painted a 1500 point force of it for the Dallas 40k narrative. Was a little discouraged so went with some Necrons for Tacoma' narrative. Then I was like for the Grand Narrative I'll do my Sisters of Battle. Summer dragged on, and those models have so much, and I sold my old metal army right before the pandemic that I been slowly painting the new ones. That I was like nah I'll finish the Emperors Children. If you like to know more about the Emperor's Children you can find my blog there. Anyway to dig into the orks here. My favorite faction of Orks is Blood Axes. I was telling my friend I thought it be funny to have ork bikers on harlequin bikes. Since, I really want to have a harlequin army and I painting all the diamonds is a challenge I been wanting to tackle now for a while. With each new army I always try and do something new. I honestly dont know much about Eldarcraft worlds and more about the Harlequins, even bought that how to paint Harlequin book when they got a release way back in 6th or was it 7th? My plan is to just pick my favorite color scheme from that book for the bikes. My actual looted eldar stuff is going to be a bright turquoise color from pro acryl with the soul gems being hot pink. I'll include the first painted model as when my friend converted it. I was like I so have to paint this right away. For my Blood Axes. I am going to primarily do urban camo a blue/grey and Armageddon steel legion. From the picture I'll post you can tell we decided upon a fallout like wasteland type of base. Which I think will clash very ork like. If your interested in how I have done any of the bases let me know if I dont end up explaining. This model got painted back in April and it was also my first attempts at zenithal priming with an airbrush and my other first attempts at an airbrush. I used the airbrush to zenithal prime the model and then paint the durkhari venom I think it is. When we got it, thought it was a harlequin starweaver or whatever but the two vehicles are pretty close and doubt anyone besides a very dedicated eldar player would notice. It worked out better for the conversion in the end anyways due to the opening for the front wheel. Well the plan is to take Orks this year to the Dallas, TX narrative, Tacoma, Wa, narrative and Grand Narrative again in Atlanta, Georgia. Of course assuming we get tickets. This year the ones for Tacoma sold out so fast, but we got in on the 2nd round when they expanded. We both live in the Pacific North West and our area is really heavy on narrative play. If the narrative events for 2026 follow what we saw for 2025. I expect the first two to be at 1k points, and the Grand Narrative at 2k, With the options off bringing 2k/3k respectively for an extra reserve pool. As they ran the events with crusade rules. List of units I know that have been build or that can be build. As my friend designed most of the lists but I am not sure how I want to run this. So, have permission to dig into units he wanted to use for his orks as long as its not the savage boys. Narrative wise he was telling me it wouldnt feel right and I am okay with that. I am aware points will probably fluctuate from now and to each event. At least I can make a goal of units to get painted by each event and or deadline. 1 deftrike - painted 1 warboss - might have more, but they been kitbashed from nobs too 6 bikers - harlequin bikes on mechanicus treads 1 stompa - needs some more tender loving converting as its being built from a wraith knight frame 1 mork/gork - still in box. Want to use or try a double 30 boyz - boyz are boys 20 nobs - unbuilt but hey easy to fix right? 30 kommandos 30 lootas - I can safely use like 10 and not feel bad due to the hunt for these 4 boxes of grots 10 burnas 1 trukk - think we have a 2nd but not 100% sure. Converted from a falcon 6 mega nobz with dual saws 2 deff dreads - forgot exact load out. Think 2 rockets, 2 claws have to go look. Looted eldar walker parts. Think we have parts for a third or just go basic ork 10 stormboys - looted swooping hawk parts for the rockets 1 mega nob boss 1 or 2 meks - not entirely sure tbh 1 burna bomber - it needs to be converted and still in the box 1 unit of tank busters Possibly add in 1 or 2 battlewagons but those will not be converted. As, we both cant figure out a good design using the main single eldar tank. I really like the 1k point list we came up with. I been trying to figure out a 2k list that I like. Well several at 1k and 2k if I can swap around in a narrative. While trying to make sure I save half the grots, and most of the lootas for my friends army too. Since they're not going to be Blood Axes but Snakebites I think it was. So, I listed what I was told was available to use. For his army. his orks looted dark eldar stuff. So, he has a kill rig, both squiggoths, and a trukk using dark eldar stuff. The giant squiggoth is one very expensive model. As he got the the giant squiggoth while we where at Dallas from the warhammer store and he found a tantulus to use as its hoodah.
