Hi folks :happy:

 

I've got a doubles tournament coming up in the next few weeks and am currently trying to figure out what to give my good old box Naught ranged weapons wise.

 

At the moment he is currently armed with an assault cannon (that looks like a hurricane bolter because no legends choices in tournament) but I'm curious if anyone has any advice on what ranged weapons my old box boy should have?

 

As always, any advice would be appreciated and if you want the list I'll be bringing then please let me know and I'll post it in the thread :happy:

What is your list short on? Whats your teamates list short on? Antitank? Anti elite? Volume fire? These are the big considerations. Also Current edition box boyz give infantry rerolls so who he's gonna hang out with might change his best loadout. I like to put assault cannons on my guys and have them hang with big intercessor squads that move around in the mid field or make them rifleman style and let em kick it with devastators if I'm feeling particularly old school.

Swap the Box Naught's Assault Cannon to the MultiMelta?  Its thematic, and potentially a better choice.

 

That's a lot of Heavy Intercessors that don't fit your theme.

 

Adrax with the BGV is a nice combo - and I'm tempted to make the lieutenant also BGV, but rerolling the fist is probably better.   Especially as I'm checking his options and both fist options also includes a MC Power weapon.   I'm not sure if Adrax and the Lieutenant overlap too much.  Not that it removes hits/wounds but that you're paying for similar buffs.   I get he's also there to carry the Enhancement.  Meh I dunno, I dont see much better either.  If the Judiciar or the regular Ancient could join a Captain in the BGV I'd be all over that. 

If I can scrounge a multi-melta and missile launcher somehow I'll definitely use that, I recently managed to procure lascannon & plasma cannon arms which I'm painting at the moment so I have them there ready :biggrin:

Well their thing is Fire, Melta, and Master Crated (Usually Thunderhammers).  I still think the "biggest" change I'd make is swapping out at least one of the HINTS probably two for power armored Intercessors of some kind, and a something else - maybe TH/SS Terminators. Maybe a Brutalis with the Melta Chest, maybe He'Stan and an infernus squad.  I get not wanting to overdose on flame, but some flame isn't bad. 

 

Edit to Add:  In fact I really like He'Stan in an infernus squad with an Acient attached - doubly so with your Eradicators and a Melta Brutalis.  You're so overloaded on "Reroll the wound roll" between Adrax in the BGV, and He'stan around the melta plus his squad's flamers AND it is OC3, and FNP 4+++ in the center or on objectives which can even be a little call-back to OG Vulkan's perpetual status.
