The thing I like about that front cover is you have a space marine, biologically enginererd and armed with (by our real world standards) advanced weaponry and armour yet he has a candle on his backpack. The contrast between advanced science/tech (to us) and archaic brutal religious fanaticism is peak 40k.

This x100!

I feel this is something we all "know", but enough isn't made of it. Mike Brooks could do with a reminder of this in some of his books... the Lion Son of the Forest was awful and lacked any sense or feel of "40k". It featured a bunch of Chad Marines hanging out in a flat, like an episode of Friends...

Carnage Unending looks interesting just given the names ("hope is the first step" and all that), jokes about the cover aside, I will take ones like that every day as long as it means an end to covers like Elemental Council and a bunch of others that we got last year

And it's good to see that BL are such cowards about me asking for Black Legion 3 and @wecanhaveallthree asking about the Horus Primarch novel that they didn't even mention the traditional December book announcement thing that they skipped this year

I know I'm late complaining about that, I needed a break from social media so I'm making up for lost time by complaining now

The longer the Horus book goes without information, the more I suspect he's coming to 40K.

Sure Abbadon killed one Horus clone, but how about TWO Horus clones?

The twist nobody saw coming

I think the Horus novel should actually be about the clone

Scene 1

"Ah, what a nice day of my birthing from the gestation pod, oh look my favorite son, Abbadon, Im sure we will have many good talks. And he even brought me my Talon. Swell egg that Abbadon"

With all of this buildup, I'm now betting on the Horus book being a safe, bland recounting of some forgeworld GC campaign/battle. At the end of it Horus will be mildly frustrated at the increasingly inefficiency of Imperial bureaucracy.

If it's not McNeill writing a (necessarily truncated) Horus odyssey inside the gate on Molech, I'd be fine with this. It'd be nice to have a novel account of the Battle of Gate 42.

Next week has the Farsight: Blade of Truth paperback, alongside the long-needed Vaults of Terra omnibus, a Siege of Terra omnibus combining Sons of the Selenar and Fury of Magnus, plus the paperback of Fulgrim: The Perfect Son.

Isn't it the first time we've got an omnibus with a completely new cover drawn specifically for it and not with some reused art (looking at you, twice dead king omni)?

That the McNeill omnibus comprises only the two released books, I’m now sure the 3rd book was either an unfounded rumour or has been consigned to Kyme’s file cabinet bottom drawer.  Annoyed the Vault of Terra omni is only a MMPB.

Why are BL publishing an omnibus in MMPB instead of regular trade paperback?

That book will be unwieldy!

Actually looking at WarCom, it just says paperback. No mention of MMPB.

I'm assuming it will be trade paperback, rather than mmpb, and so the same size as the Ahriman omnibus et al.

Just FYI, Omnibuses are NEVER in the Mass-Market Paperback format. That was completely ditched by Black Library a decade ago, with the sole exception being for Horus Heresy releases, often a year after their original release.

Omnibuses are TRADE paperbacks, in the standard format. Yes, the font size is often reduced compared to novels, but that depends on how much content they need to squeeze in there with the 600-900 pages they got before the thing falls apart.

I'm also not aware of BL ever putting out an omnibus in hardback; even when they do trilogy hardbacks, it's usually box sets with each book being bound separately.
