Apostle is up on Audible

A 5 star review was posted on Audible: "What an amazing experience of a book. Getting to witness something so rarely seen in the Warhammer universe, the slow gradual corruption of a group, then of a populous and then finally of a world. Narrator out here doing the true God‘s work too, fantastic choice for the story. My favourite legion getting the spotlight they deserve and the main character on the cover is probably one of the best and most charismatic representations of a corrupting influence I’ve ever seen." (Wordbearers fans eating good)

I am getting my physical copy tomorrow in Alberta, Canada. Looking forward to it! I have decided that when it comes to Chaos, I will only buy books about those factions which embrace Chaos instead of opposing or rejecting it. So, I will not pre-order the Ghost Legion book by Mike Brooks tomorrow because I know that the Alpha Legion reject Chaos worship. I bought the hardcover copy of the Remnant Blade by Mike Vincent and found out that the Night Lords also do not see Chaos in a positive light and do not embrace its pantheon. That means for CSM, I will only buy books on the specific god aligned factions (World Eaters, Death Guard, Emperors Children, Thousand Sons) and the Word Bearers and perhaps the Black Legion because although Abaddon personally rejects Chaos worship, some of his lieutenants and comrades in the Black Legion have embraced a specific Chaos god. I think maybe most Iron Warriors also reject Chaos, except for some legionaries embracing Khorne and now they will introduce Vashtorr who is mostly for machines and does not represent humanity.

I mean unless they listened to it on ultra-fast speed or got up at midnight, think I am going to take that review with a grain of salt. The book is 10 hours long so I doubt they got through it that fast. Who knows though

For the record, there were chaos worshipping Alpha Legion warbands in Harrowmaster, most notably a Khorne one but also a Dark Mech aligned one, and I think one or two others along with a chemical weapons warband that might as well have been dedicated to Nurgle

Well it will seem like the BL Celebration here (Oz) as we haven’t had a BL release for awhile due to shipping delays.  I notice none of this week’s pre-orders are marked as  delayed.  If we get the delayed books (as well as the new stuff & the Maelstrom box) next Saturday it will be an expensive day for all, just like the BL celebration week of old.

Well, I picked that right.  We just got every preorder from Apostle onwards released locally in one hit.  Throw in the Maelstrom release as well and that is almost AUD500 if you were after it all!

I feel like the scary aspect of religious fanatiscm doesn't really get explored enough in Soritas books.

So it looks unlikely BL celebration is happening. Or perhaps it's just going to be moved to a different time of the year?

Either way it is a shame. With Horus Primarch novel seemingly dead, the horror series having just been left in limbo and with BL evenys/interactions being so scaled back it almost feels like GW has stopped caring about BL altogether.

Hopefully they haven't and we see some cracking books this year

Friends in Canada and fellow Canadians, PLEASE buy this book: https://www.warhammer.com/en-CA/shop/hb-apostle-eng-2026?queryID=63968ad91b4762509dce7d28dea0011f

It is still available for purchase. I got the hardcover from a mall Warhammer store in Alberta today. And I also got access to the audiobook. It is a really good book. You will not be disappointed. It is also getting good Goodreads reviews. It will be a very worthy purchase. It is not :cuss: like Annandale's Horus Heresy books. Actually Apostle might be David Annandale's BEST book yet. A true gem. You will not regret my recommendation. Please strongly consider purchasing a legal copy either on the Audible audiobook or the physical hardcover on Warhammer.com. I have listened to about 70% of the audiobook till now and it is truly amazing!

WarCom post about a Black Library app, the site closure and confirming the Celebration is coming again.

TLDR:

App launches 18th March.

In the first month you can get a bunch of eBooks free (to keep).

Black Library website closes August 31st, you'll have until then to link it to the app (or presumably lose your ebooks).

Edited by Lord Marshal

Also at the bottom we got a "Date Coming Soontm" for Celebration

Zero interest in the app. If they charged the same that Audible did, fine, but they average $30-40 for an audiobook where credits are ~$15. I don't think they would take their things off of Audible (because it would be insanely stupid of them, but it's GW so who knows), but if they do, I'm out.

I'm still very much a physical book lover, but most of those free books they're offering I don't own in any format so will be signing up for those.

And yay BL celebration isn't dead! Sounds like its changing a bit though.

Can I upload an ebook I've bought to the ereader I already have? (Kindle, Kobo, Apple iPad etc.)
No but the great thing about the new Black Library App is that it provides everything you need for exploring, reading and listening, all within the App. You can still purchase Black Library eBooks and Audiobooks through alternative vendors to use with your preferred eReader.

That is hilarious. I know there are crazy people who read on their phones/tables but not being able to move the ebook to dedicated ereader is top customer experience. GW/BL is really taking all necessary steps for me to just move on and completely forget about this hobby.

That is at least something! (Had been in a foul mood ever since they announced a celebration day for the frecking merchandise instead of Black Library :furious:)
Lets see another year without the Horus book I guess

So they're shutting down the BL website with its user-friendly digital content formats and downloads to go to a proprietary siloed app incompatible with e-readers and removing the ability to locally store the content that I purchased.

Dear GW, I cannot express enough my most sincere wishes for you to :cuss: RIGHT THE HELL OFF WITH THAT NONSENSE.

Im here for the first complaint about there not being Black Legion 3. And I will lodge it

WHERE IS BLACK LEGION 3

On the app thing, I think ultimately its going to depend on the implementation for me. If they treat it like the existing app (in that its there) and leave everything else, fine. But I get the creeping feeling that GW wouldnt invest in developing it, if they didn't have a plan to coerce people onto the app. I doubt the free stuff is it, so I wonder if this is more how we saw them launch WH+ or their merch, where we saw an announcement of an official GW product, and then they slowly started withdrawing from other spaces

I have always purchased ebook editions from the BL site.  As someone who was constantly travelling for work reasons, my ebook reader was an essential item to keep me sane and/or entertained while far from my beloved dead tree collection.

This siloing of their ebooks behind the new app is not just a deal breaker for me; it almost feels like a betrayal in some way.  All they are doing imho is killing a part of their profits, as I can’t see many switching over to it.  I avoid Amazon’s Kindle site because of some of their dodgy practices but now will have to go that way if I can’t find another source.  I read elsewhere (news section?) that even if you sign on they will only transfer over what is still available for sale, so you lose whatever you may have purchased previously  but is no longer up for sale.  If true, they will create another bunch of dissatisfied customers to a growing list.

One thing is for sure, this will add to even more piracy of their ebooks (and there is plenty already if you know where to look).

The funny thing is, that this is probably their attempt to prevent some of the piracy..

Yeah this screams upper management 'solution' to a problem 'its pretty simple when you think about it'.

I have 0 interest in a gw app that sells me things that i can only use on that app FOR NO REASON. Its a ebook not a GWappbook.

Serving under Ghazghkull Mag Uruk Thraka, the prophet of the Waaagh! and mightiest Ork warlord for ten millennia, can be a hazardous affair – as the newly minted Blood Axe warboss Slitta da Stabba is finding out. The momentum of Ghazghkull’s conquests is unstoppable, and when he chooses a Blood Axe world as the site of a climactic showdown with the Black Templars, even his own Orks start to entertain thoughts of taking down the Beast of Armageddon.

Caught in a mire of treacherous allies and vengeful crusaders, Slitta will need to choose which side he’s on, and fast. Join the Orks for another hellraising adventure in Ghazghkull Thraka: Warlord of Warlords by Denny Flowers, author of Grotsnik: Da Mad Dok and many more.

The beloved Necrons novel starring Trazyn the Infinite and Orikan the Diviner – The Infinite and the Divine by Robert Rath – is back like you’ve never seen it before, with a glorious illustrated and annotated edition. This epic tale of two Necrons holding a grudge over thousands of years is an incredible adventure with hair-raising fights, courtroom drama, and witty banter aplenty. Now cut with author insights and new illustrations, this edition offers a fresh take on the story even if you’ve read it a dozen times (like us).

The Savlar Chem-Dogs are a notorious regiment of penal legion troopers who earn absolution for their misdeeds only in death – a far cry from the glorious Imperial Guardsmen that Commissar Bastun Hasp was hoping to lead. Lumped with insubordinate and unruly troops that he views as little more than mongrels, Hasp must nevertheless lead his kill team through enemy-infested terrain to secure vital intelligence. But there’s a catch, he needs them far more than they need him, and eventually he’s going to have to start trusting the Chem-Dogs if any of them are going to survive.

Chem Dog is the first full-length Black Library novel from author Callum Davis, whose short story ‘Those Without Mercy’ also stars Commissar Hasp and the penal legions of Savlar. Check it out if you want a taste of what’s to come!

All of these books will be available to pre-order soon, and if you need any more impetus to whip out your copy of Horus Rising and get back into a reading mood, make sure to swing by the Black Library Celebration week, which is just around the corner and will be detailed right here at Warhammer Community.

Love that we’re getting more orks. Maybe I’ll finally connect with a Flowers’ novel. Not sure why, but I haven’t enjoyed his work as much as everyone else despite its obvious quality.

Also very excited for a Chem Dogs novel. I’ve wanted one for years and years and had given up hope at this point. Fingers crossed Davis does a good job.
