German Amazon gives new information about possible release dates of new BL novels:

https://amzn.eu/d/0fdtIF50 Hive 1 shown in Black Library Celebration

https://amzn.eu/d/02YXhDzc Hive 2

One releasing in August, one in September: German versions. Maybe this indicates that the English version will release in either June or July?

https://amzn.eu/d/0erYkBwa Brand new book, author is TBC. No description.

Lords of Silence by Chris Wraight finally releasing in paperback. Did the original hardcover ever get a mass market paperback release? This is the German version releasing in January next year, so the English version is probably releasing in December 2026.

I had thought both books were coming out simultaneously. More fool me.

Hive is coming out later this year as a two-book set

The Hive and the Death.

I'm surprised there's been no Iron Warriors book to tie in. I'd have thought they would have had a novel with the new fella Kravek.

a) If this Kravek-come-lately gets a book before Haarken Worldclaimer, I'll spew, b) never mind the new hotness, where's Honsou, who we literally last saw sitting down and getting the four-one-one from Perturabo, and c) I'm still salty about Perturabo in Ashes so I won't read it anyway harrumph.

Where's the next Scouring book, anyway?

Makropole actually sounds like a word Dan Abnett would invent for Hive City.

German aside its literal Greeklish for longcity.  Like pig latin and the rest of the setting haha GW loves that kind of wordplay.

English paperback was released in 2019.

First chance to get both volumes of Hive by Abnett will be on Saturday with a limited edition slipcase set.

Meanwhile, I'm weeping over my wallet because I did not expect City of Ash to drop *this soon* after the reveal. Gonna be a real struggle to fit it in somewhere...

Cool to see Hive not getting milked with separate releases (though the price will be set high enough to milk extra hard anyway), but I won't bother with limited stuff, so whenever it comes around for the regular folks...

Try waiting for MKIV for the Heresy. I have developed endless bitterness

And agree, not going to bother with the LE of Hive and Hiive. Because its an Abnett book and a LE in general its just going to be a nightmare. Ill wait for audible like a peasant

....and now GW on Instagram or sth apparently stated that City of Ash is going to be a limited release despite Warcom making it very much look like a long-term new starter set. Gdubs, this better not cost half as much as the new laundry machine I'm obligated to buy today :V

Kinda funny that they got two City-releases at once, tho. But yeah, Audible down the line it is.

Has anybody actually checked out the new Black Library app for the latest set of releases, by the by? How bad is the user experience really? I absolutely hate that I now have to go to 3rd party stores / Audible even just to see the book's narrator or plot synopsis, because the publisher themselves turned its own web presence to ashes and GW's physical store pages get nuked from high orbit within weeks at most, erasing the backlog from public access.

They're literally forcing people to check Kobo or Amazon to get info about their books, unless they wade into their app....

I downloaded the app to continue having access to my digital purchases (ebook & audio) but won’t be using it for new purchases.  One of the good things about the old website was you could download the files and use them via whatever device you preferred.  That is over, with the app being a locked system with no way to access the files you purchased.  I downloaded a couple of the freebies they offered to see if I could jailbreak them, but I couldn’t find a way.

The app itself isn’t too bad, although it insists on showing two pages at a time which I find annoying.  YVMV.  I also find it a pain that new releases don’t get released on the app until they hit the official release date, so can’t preorder at same time as the hard copy.  I mainly used the old site for the eshorts but they seem to have dried up which makes it easier to ignore.  Since amazon has now also become a closed system I don’t see a way to make any future ebook purchases from BL.  Their loss not mine.

Does this new book tie into anything in particular or is it just a free standing Abnett novel?

It's the shadow drop of Pandemonium, trust the plan. (I haven't seen anything to suggest it's anything but Warhammer Crime wearing a different skin).

Let's be real. If we were to get a second Scouring novel before the Holiday season, we'd have seen it leaked by now. After Era of Ruin, and then Ashes, and knowing the very long production cycle, and keeping things on warehouse shelves to hit arbitrary miniature release dates, this would've leaked out already.

I just cannot see them announcing it anytime soon, and if they do, the release will be a while yet. Chances are it won't happen until the rumored Scouring expansion to the Horus Heresy game gets officially promoted.

I would be surprised if we see it prior to fall at the earliest. Typically they don't announce many big things (as I assume they might classify the Scouring series as) during the run-up to a new edition to clear the way, shortly followed by a preview stream in Julyish for everything else. The rumors have been that the Heresy is due a bunch of things, so I could see a box for that (I hope for another armor mark in the same fashion that they did for the MK3 box but who knows), along with rumored primarchs, squad types, etc. So I could see them holding a Scouring novel until then to tie-in to whatever the Heresy release is.

Or next year for BL Celebration, who knows. Neither would surprise me at this point. It is weird that it's been so long though, even with Dawn of Fire they at least mentioned the next book in the series.

actually you see they have to tie it in to previews and new editions and boxes and armour marks and squad types and celebrations and

Casual reminder that they dropped the opening HH trilogy within a six-month period, and the first six books of the HH came within a twelve-month period.

I was very hype for Ashes and, though I personally found it CONTENTIOUS, I'm still quite excited to see where we go from here. It's a bit hard to really 'get hype' (or sustain hype) without even a crumb of a tease for the next book in the pipe.

Felix puts it well.

BL lost me too. The print runs are too small to pick up hardbacks. I used to buy from bl website ao I could put them on my kobo, not now. The amount of short stories missing is insane.

That was before GW execs discovered the magic moving picture boxes. Now they only give BL electricity to use the lights once a fiscal quarter
