Bunker Bingo 2026 - Bolter and Chainsword League - Idea?

"Bunker Bingo" is the scorecard that allocates points to a participant for specific painting and gaming accomplishments in every given month, culminating in increases of rank throughout the league and culminating in a table of winners at the end of the year - for those unfamiliar. It's a creation of The White Dwarf's and looks like loads of fun.

In the most recent issue of The White Dwarf (December 2025) they have included at the back a hard-card copy of the bunker bingo card for the upcoming year, and I thought it might be a fun idea to run a 'Bolter and Chainsword' Bunker Bingo league using the card as a template, and points being verified with proofs posted.

I've included pictures of the cards here so you guys can get an idea of what I mean.

I chuckled as I read it, knowing that I've got big life changes coming next year I don't know how consistent I'll be - but I thought giving it a go during that might make for the beginnings of a good story!

What do you all think, would that be fun?

Amazing!

Right - @Valkyrion and @Brother Carpenter - three of us is a good start!

I'll put something together and send it to you guys tomorrow evening

Well, I’m looking to get out of only skirmish games and into the wider world of 40k so this sounds fun and accomplishable, at least as build/painting goes.
I’m in.
Now do I go World Eaters or Black Templars, hmmmmmm

Let's see if we can't help make a decision for you today.

Do you like melee combat or... uh... melee combat?

Do you like painting the color red or the color black better?

Wanna build and paint Angron, or 463 bazillion purity seals?

I really think I like melee combat more than melee combat. Honestly, the templars looked a little simpler to paint up a whole combat patrol of, but the angry wolf demon fella of the WE looks pretty tight.

Hi all.

Great to see such a good reception to this!

Welcome @Lathe Biosas and @ggergnayr !

I've created a blog here on The Bolter and Chainsword to keep track of our challenge, I think this is going to be loads of fun. I've messaged you all on this thread who have expressed an interest - let's smash those hobby goals and see how this grows!

Looks great! Definitely interested, but how far I’ll get I don’t know. Question:

What constitutes a god of war? Largest models I have currently are a Kratos, a Spartan and a Fire prism, but are these just machines and are we talking knight size for that box? Lords of war used to be a thing but aren’t any more. Don’t want to start a line I can’t finish.

Count me in too

A point of clarification, for the painting sheet, all boxes are "Units" as in, datasheets, and not single models (unless the unit is a single), correct?

I'd also like to participate in the Gaming one too, but I don't play big 40k, I just play the boxed games with Family meaning I'll never complete a line

Don't worry about completing lines. Each box is worth 10 points. I saw a guy at the shop last year who won and his sheet looked like a checkerboard.

I'm definitely going to be involved, but I need some sort of bits advice as I have a 'can do this' and a 'want to do this' option.

I want to do a Badab War chapter, and I want to do either Red Scorpions (preferred) or Minotaurs (2nd choice).

I can not, will not and refuse to use transfers, so I need sculpted shoulder pads of all types - gravis, terminators, traditional, phobos etc. Some are easier to find than others.

But as a follow on to that, I also want vehicle icons or doors or something.

I can't 3D print things myself, but I'm happy to buy them, UK based.

If those options aren't really viable I'll find something else, something more like Dark Angels, Blood Angels or Black Templars, because there are loads of winged sword, malteses crosses and blood drops out there!

I'd check fiverr.com for people with 3D printers. Make sure to filter by location so you get someone local vs. International.

You'll need to purchase / supply the file for them, but you should be able to find reasonable prices and time frames on there.

For the files themselves cults is probably the most likely place to find free and paid files for shoulder pads.

Have you heard of 'decal stamps'?

I've never used them personally but I have seen them being used to great effect! They are literally stamps you dip into the paint and then stamp onto the mini. They're made from glass, so you can see where you are stamping.

They're made by a company called 'Goblin Hobbies' - have a look at these:

For those interested in joining the challenge

Hi everyone!

It's so great to see such interest!

Please can you all follow my instructions in the B+C Blog (link above) I have started to chart our Bunker Bingo Challenge - looking forward to kicking it off on New Year's Day!

I'm going to publish the first post on New Year's Day as a 'getting started' post, so in anticipation of that could you please let me know (message me in forum):

  • What project you plan to start with
  • What you're hoping to accomplish this year in the hobby
  • And anything related that you've started working on since the start of any Christmas Break you've had (anything from the release of December's WD counts for the start of the challenge!)

Fraternally,

Mike

Hi Grotsmasha! Great to have you aboard!

To keep things simple I'll clarify that for the scorecard a 'unit' will need to comprise of more than one model (common sense application) because ever datasheet that is an individual piece will be covered by a different square on the bingo card.

Hope that makes sense?

Great challenge. @mini_painting_mike have you considered running it as a club instead? It would save you work and make it easier to any participant to enlist and manage his entries... just a though

Thanks!

This is a good idea... I will take a look at this tonight and update accordingly...!

Hi all!

I wish I could change the 'mark solution' - thanks so much @Bouargh for the really helpful suggestion of running this as a club!

I've created a club for this challenge that I will flesh out over the next couple of days, and I have sent invitations to join the club to everyone in this thread so far.

Thanks everyone for baring with me as this project has slightly evolved...

To those who wish to join our Bunker Bingo Challenge!

Check out the club here!

Hopefully it's all self-explanatory!

My goal is to round up all the scores and release them on a monthly basis, crowning a winner for each month as well as keeping overall scores to crown one winner at the end of the year with the most points amassed during the year!

To score, we will use the bingo card, in addition to a few 'bonus awards' that you will find in the 'guide' that is on the 'files' section of the club.

(At this time of writing, that's not finished yet, keep checking back!)

You could check out a company called March of War Ltd on eBay. They do “3d decals” ie it’s a curved 3d print that you stick to the shoulder - so can use it on a range of size and shapes. I’ve seen Minotaurs. They do some flat ones for vehicles too, for some chapters at least.
