Alright, that’s two War Dogs primed, one sub assembled and one assembled, both primed and base coats started.
hoping to shade some good today and layer the second.
Aside from some fiddly small bits, these were much easier to build than I expected. A large amount of pieces was offset by the sheer size of them.

I have been eyeballing that battle force box, they have one at a local game store tucked back on a shelf and I can’t justify the expense, YET.
It would cut down on the magnetizing to be done hahaha.

I am thinking of a Dreadblade squad instead of a house. Lots of gold, some purples and muted colors with a metallic black trim. Keeping the horns a bone white too, I think.
Going with ‘Sons of Mammon’ for the name. Mentally thinking of them as a style of biker gang mercenary team pledged to Chaos Undivided.

@Brother Anderson I guess Nurglings are the way to go for Chaos Knights to have some tough small help, but I think I want to paint up some traitor guard as little footmen. Little purple or gold armored schmucks dodging around hahaha. That would be above mid pack palate cleanse.

@mini_painting_mike Me too usually. I tried it with my stingwings and ended up just not painting them for like six months as they sat subassembled.
I’m gonna try and knock out the assembled one today and we’ll see how much harder it is to do parts of it. Will report back.

REALLLLLLLLY gotta work on a lighting set up. One War Dog Brigand closer to completion.
also, my DeLaque box came in so that’ll be a nice set to paint on here next.

Love the scorch marks on the melta!

I totally understand the dislike of bad lighting. All my pictures come out terrible.

But I do have a solution.

When I complete my 2,000 point army (based, decaled, etc.), I am going to get somebody with a real camera to take some quality photos of my army on display.

Whist I am no expert in lighting or photography, over the years I have learned a thing of two...

I use a strip of high powered LEDs (daylight) stuck to the shelf above my painting desk, and a little clip on lamp with yellow light. That gives me sufficient lighting to paint.

As for photographing minis, since I switched to an Android phone I still use my old iPhone for photographing my models because *whatever* I do, I cannot get a decent photo of my minis on an Android phone...

I have some of GW's hard cardboard game boards I use as a backdrop, these are great as they collapse down to A4 size but also expand to 8x that. These help as a less jumbled backdrop makes it easier to focus on the right thing. Another tip is to add a small torn corner of a white piece of paper the the edge of your pic. This can be cropped out later, but will provide a solid reference for colour balance / correction.
