Jolemai
Welcome to part three of the Blood Angels Unit of the Week series! Following the release of the 10th edition Codex Supplement, there is no better time to discuss all the units we have access to. Each week a different unit will appear, with the idea being that we discuss how best to use that model on the battlefield. Where part one will discuss the units from the units found within Codex Supplement: Blood Angels, parts two to four will discuss Codex: Space Marines, part five will be Imperial Armour, and part six will be Legends. Note, this isn't to lament any nerfs, etc, from previous editions; the rules are as they are so try to unlock its potential for those who wish to use them all the same. Similarly, this thread is only for using the option being discussed; it matters not if you feel something is a better choice as such comments aren't constructive to the topic and shall be removed. Without further ado, here's this week's entry: Inceptor Squad What are you thoughts here folks? How best would you use an Inceptor Squad? To compliment a list, or to build a list around? Are you taking multiple units? MSU or full sized squads? What wargear options are you taking? Which Detachment are you using? What delivery options are you using? What deployment options are you using? Stratagem synergy of note? Over to you. Jolemai
Should you want your model on display here (or on another thread), then submit a photo here please. (Once I work out how best to float it!) *** As an aside, the thread setup may change over the coming weeks until I'm happy with them. This includes the photos. Karhedron
Personally I love my Inceptors (although the design is not the highlight of the Primaris range) and I usually take them with a plasma loadout. The weight of fire from the Bolter variants are tempting but similar firepower can be found elsewhere in the list. When overcharging, the 3 Damage and AP-3 of the plasma solves a lot of problems in the elite infantry bracket. These will one-shot Terminators, Victrix, Custodians etc while the Twin-Linked means they can punch up into heavy armour if needed. A full squad will put 9 wounds on a big Knight on average which is not too shabby at all. Thematically they are very Blood Angelish bring some mobility as well as firepower. Dropping within 6" means they are harder to screen out than Deep Strike infantry which can catch an unwary opponent out or make a wary play over-cautiously. They have no Leader options and don't synergise particularly with most of our Detachments but they are still a solid unit. Probably running them in 2x3 is best for flexibility. The one Detachment where they do work well is Angelic Inheritors. Strike Now for Glory gives them Sustained Hits on those plasma blasters which will normally net you a couple of extra hits (or more when shooting at your OOM target). On Wings of Fire is also really good for Uppy-Downy tricks and can let you snag an Objective late game or get into a different part of the table for Secondaries like EOAF. In AI, a 6-man squad might be better than 2x3, particularly if you want to buff them with SNFG. Helbrechts_Sword_Servitor
Black Templar Player here - Inceptors where the first unit I bought to solve a problem, and they delivered. Unfortunately I bought them when weapons had points costs, so they all pack bolters. However, they still excel in a role that has thrown off many battle plans: killing scorers. Scouts, Lt. with Combi-Weapons, Callidus Assassins? They're gone by turn 2, no questions asked.
