crimsondave
I really like these. I don't know why, but I'm surprised so many people don't like them. Now we wait to see what the new Defiler will look like. As with the mutilators, the bar is not high. ursvamp, Ming the Merciless, FabiusV4lcoran and 2 others 5 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/387525-new-mutilators/page/4/#findComment-6154923 Share on other sites
Antarius
My initial reaction is that I could take them or leave them. I suspect I might grow to like them more if I see them in person and the colour scheme might. be part of it, but they just aren't very exciting. marspeople
A the very least they are way better than the old ones. Which imo are some of the ugliest models GW has ever produced. Honestly I quite like these. I like that they aren't too over the top, skylerboodie, ZeroWolf and Bouargh 1 2 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/387525-new-mutilators/page/4/#findComment-6154935 Share on other sites
ZeroWolf
I'm honestly fine with these. If I collected undivided chaos, I'd pick a unit up. Rules and the like don't bother me as I rarely get chance to play these days so it'd mainly be rule of cool. As for Mr Defiler (who I expected as well but I suppose in hindsight, would have been a better reveal after these instead of before), that will probably get shown off along side the eye of terror book, especially since we need the other players in that one shown off... (Also I highly doubt GW will break their pattern with chaos primarchs and release Perturabo now, gotta wait till 11th for that). Personally I suspect not. The new Mutilators look like they have been designed to match the existing Obliterators in both size and style so I am not expecting to see any changes there. Orange Knight
I like the models well enough. Looking forward to the rules. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/387525-new-mutilators/page/4/#findComment-6154947 Share on other sites
Sarges
Hopefully it'll be a dual-kit, they have a potential to look quite good as obliterators, IMO: MadEdric and Sir Clausel 2 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/387525-new-mutilators/page/4/#findComment-6154951 Share on other sites

Nephaston
I can see them staying as mutilators for the EoT box release, with maybe a gun sprue being added or replacing the melee weapons. DeadFingers
I just had my two braincells collide and form a singular thought. I just realized why I find these so endearing, particularly this guy. The body shape, the claws, the toothy maw, the pose. It's my baby boy. This reminds me, as cool as Boltgun looks (I really need to play it!) I kinda wish they had gone with a Quake vibe with low-poly 3D models instead of the Doom-style sprites. But I may be biased, love me some Quake. LSM
3 hours ago, Agrest_IW said: Conversion potential Yeah. Basically, if one wants Obliterators they can pick up a box of Mutilators and raid the bits box for leftover Heavy Bolters and Missile Launchers and whatever Helbrute guns one may have been too lazy to magnetise (ahem). // Like the look of the kit, though not perfectly in line with my tastes (a couple bits are more fleshy than I'd go with, but there appears to be options and I also have a million chainswords in my bits box that I can used to make some extra hands more along those lines). I'm interested in seeing their backsides (hush) - I hope they don't have the the "briefs" that the Obliterators have (not my picture): // It's a little bit of an odd release - I'd have been perfectly fine with Mutilators just being rolled (conceptually) back into Obliterators all together. If this remains a heavy assault unit with a 4" Movement then I hope their ability focusses on survival against ranged attacks. The sort of unit that drops in near an objective and stomps towards it unrelentingly. The enemy can easily run away if they don't want to die, or be forced into melee if they want to try to hold the point; but if Mutilators can be shot down then they'll be a bit useless. Dr. Clock
I want to like these, but they feel a tad undercooked. They do cry out for some converting to pump them up just a tad... the silhouette is a little bare for ultimate chaos gribblies, though I appreciate the constraints on the kit and the desire to not make any of them so gribbly that they can't really even be converted. Still, the 'opening' at the end of some of the 3-claw arms makes it look unfinished. Just slap an extra chainblade in there and you're likely golden, though... I do think they'll end up as the basis for some awesome projects though, and especially when bedecked in god-specific weirdness. Do I buy some and make them Khorney? Maybe... I have been eyeing Vashtorr for a minute, and maybe it's time to come back to CSM Daemonforge vibes from my sojourn in WE. Cheers, The Good Doctor.
