Minicompare quick with it again; They are a smidsge shorter than Oblits who have shoulder cannons. Also Saturnines mnatch nicely in size so violently hacking the two kits together will probably work.

In other news, my dreams of an easy Terminator Daemon Prince that isn't built from Horus Ascended is dashed once again.

How can they know the sizes if they don’t have the mini or even pics of the

with mini with minis of known size?

As someone who isn’t a huge chaos fan, I think they look good.

No clue the lore behind them so I don’t know if they fill that out well or not.

I quite like these. I wasn't keen on the Obliterators and their speedos. I get what people are saying about them looking a bit too clean-cut, but it's probably easier to convert mutation onto them than try to "un-mutate" them if you don't want identical mutations, so there is that to consider. If I were to ever consider Chaos marines I'd probably go with an Iron Warriors style force so I wouldn't want them to look too juicy either. I don't think this is knocking it out of the part, but I don't think they are an abysmal failure either. If anything, I'd be tempted to use them as a basis for some Obliterators so I didn't have to have guys in underpants running about everywhere.

I think they're just making the probably reasonable assumption they'll be the same size as Obliterators, since they're an in-universe spin-off of them.

Big miss for me. It's already been said, but they don't look like those weapons are morphing from their flesh, they kind of look like a marine in an ogryn suit.

The more I look at them the less I like them.

Meh, I don't think I'll be first in line to pick up a set of these. Not terrible but not my favourite chaos design.

I do wonder what these will add to a chaos army. Obliterators are pretty hard hitting in melee as well as ranged. If these are just going to just remove the shooting profile from the obliterators without adding something special I don't think we'll see many on the tabletop.

I'm adding my voice to the chorus of "they look... fine." I'm not particularly inspired by them, but even if the mutilators looked better, I don't think I'd be interested. I remember back when mutilators were in the game and I never found a situation where they seemed worthwhile. They are (historically) a very slow unit that can't embark on transports and wants to get into melee. Rules change all the time, but I struggle to imagine any iteration of mutilator rules filling any gaps in my CSM army.

They'll likely have 3 different profiles for melee and be reasonably tougher per model than Terminators. There's a CERTAIN niche somewhere (tough Rapid Ingress target) but it'll be limited. The true problem is if they’ll lack character support.

I like them, but I think the paint scheme is too clean. Bit of dirtying up and they'll look much better!

That was my problem too; thankfully that's the part we get 100% control over.  I like to break blades off sometimes and cut into the ceramite for battle damage too.

Base sizes. You can guesstimate the base size and just align it with the standard used on the site, which is 10 pixels per 1 mm. In the case of Mutilators it is quite simple to estimate these are 50mm bases as bases above 28mm are all the same thickness and will differ noticeably in the ratios until we reach excess of 100mm.

At this point unless, it is something below 32mm (where the proportion might match with a bigger size), without a base (like many vehicles which also frequently are pictured from a high angle), badly photoshopped onto a base (like many MTO older miniatures), or revealed on 32mm and then later sold at 28mm sowing confusion like the 30k skitarii) minicompare will be fairly accurate.

Me too! Might try out for that stringy blood effect on those claws too, make them look a bit gruesome

Rather like Assault Centurions, they have a few niche uses such as special characters who can put them in Deep Strike or play uppy-downy tricks but they are not ideal for general use. Having said that, I am sure that they will get a new datasheet so anything is possible.

I think that they use the bases for scaling as these are always a fixed size. Once you have a fixed point of reference, the rest becomes easy.

I can’t believe so many people don’t like these! I think they’re awesome! They’re like chunky Terminators or baby Helbrutes with some awesome looking poses, armour, and weapons!
I hope we get an updated 3 man unit of Obliterators with multiple options like these guys.
These are a solid 9/10 for me.

Lets hope they have alternatiive heads not only this three

Yeah I mean the X-files Flukeman face is about my only criticism.  I like that they went different with faces, but I'm always gonna prefer angular fanged maws to lamprey.

Ah, so it was Mutilators after all and not the Defiler. Not the kit I'd have described as "classic" but here we are. I'm sure the crab will follow suit soon enough, maybe even next Monday.

Really liking these. I see some interchangeable hands/weapons already, not just between bodies but also between left and right, which is nice. The fact that they've built and painted two sets of three and the head and torso combos are all the same is odd. Even the most monopose of models tend to have heads that are at the very least separate from the torso, so three bodies with no head options would be rather sad. Then again it wouldn't be the first time GW's studio models fail to show off options in the kit, so I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Might just have been easier and faster to build and paint 3 sets of identical models.

Also I think the nubby axe hand is the worst looking weapon they gave them.

I like the nubby axe hand though. Reminds me of something like a bladed cestus. Seems like a brutal wapon to just slam down on someone.

Meanwhile, I'm not the biggest fan of the flail.

Flail superiority for lyfe fam.

I never really liked the fleshy bits, Obliterators and Mutilators are meant to be fleshmetal, like the Warpsmith. Though at least these don't have the somewhat comical-looking feet bursting out of the armour like the current Obliterators have.

They're okay. But as many have said, the bar wasn't very high for Mutilator models.
