I really like it! It would have been nice to have the flail (?) in a more dynamic pose but I really like the head options. The head options make me wonder if they'll be available to the Cult Legions and not just Codex Chaos Space Marines as they follow the design, especially the Thousand Sons one.

On one hand, I like that they've leaned far more into the horror aspect. Really looks like an horrific beast of a machine in a literal sense.

 

On the other, I really liked the design of the old one (even if it was showing it's age) and this feels very different overall.

I loved the old one. This one doesn’t scream “defiler” to me because of that but it is a glorious miniature all the same.

Looking at all the photos, it's got a ludicrous amount of options for weapons, posing, and looks easily workable for conversions. We'd have to see the sprues, but it has potential to be the best big kit since Knights appeared.

the OG defiler used to be one of the worst model imo

 

now I absolutely need one, the IW version is perfection.

 

There seem to be a lot of options, also nice that it's for all legions

The article does have paint schemes for all four legions. Unless someone at WarCom made a huge mistake, it looks like it is in

Okay, I really love this guy. Horrifying and just a little bit goofy. 

 

It's clear that the god legions can use them. The Tzeentch variant head uses Egyptian imagery, which is specific to the Thousand Sons and not shared with generic Tzeentch CSM. It would be a wild design mistake for TSons to not be able to use it.

Oh great, they made it fleshy.

 

This doesn't really read as a Defiler to me, rather a Soul Grinder wearing armour.

Which is cool, but not a Defiler.
