Shouldn't we go with more recent example, like Dorn Heavy Tank?

Dorn Heavy Tank need to finish cooking first, when we get a version with a bloody floor then we can use it as a example of a FINISHED model.

People bashing open topped vehicles when GW rolled out a open bottom one.

This is without a doubt one of the most over-blown complaints I have come across.

Unless it's a Flinstone tank in the lore, they are literally selling us an incomplete kit. For €82.50. I am not OK with that. And this is not a kit, which just sits on a lower shelf in your gabinet, but a miniature you will frequently manipulate.

You frequently tip it over to look under it?

You think that little panel is bad?

I was going to pick the Leman Russ Demolisher as my first go-to example, some some people on this board probably weren't born when that mas magicked into the setting.

No bottom Dorns are awesome and only perennial complainers think otherwise.

Perfect place to store all the extra bits and bobs that come with it, as well as alternate weapons. Missing bottom may sound crazy at first, but I wish more of my tanks were hollow and easily accessed to store bits in. It would cut down on my clutter by a lot.

See, I prefer the hinged door on the rhino and land raider- that way you can store stuff in it AND the model doesn't suck.

I miss that about the current Leman Russ. The turret hole is so small now you can't throw in spare weapons.

The hollow Dorn sucks, though it is at least easy enough to fill in with styrene or a printed part. I have mixed feelings on the Dorn as it is; overall it feels a bit too much of a mashup of different ideas and influences, which in separation work great but all together looks a bit disjointed. It's not an unsalvageable design though, and the basic shape is quite nice. Offbeat Builds did a very nice rework that shaved most of the details off to make it look like something out of a 50s issue of Popular Mechanics, and in general I think denoising it a bit would do it the world of favours; emphasis on the curved elements to look like a weird postwar heavy tank with complex cast parts would do it a lot of good IMO.

As for the new Guard stuff, whilst they certainly could make something totally new, I feel like a lot of theoretical niches for new tanks are already filled by existing models. A light tank would be very nice but it would be tricky to make one that doesn't step on the steel toes of the Sentinel. I suppose they could build off the "cruiser tank" idea from British armour doctrine and make a small and very fast but lightly armoured vehicle armed with short-range weapons suited for quick hit-and-run attacks. Perhaps some kind of rocket launcher (ala the Sheridan and its... temperamental main gun/missile launcher combo).

In this context, what is the multimelta hellhound variant? It seems like it fills the role described, but I don’t know a lot about tanks in real life or the game.

Land raider hinged door is cool, but the insides aren't hollow so it works less good for the use case of storing bits.  Combined with the Sponson situation also not really fitting in there, it's less useful.  The rhino I agree does have some use for the extra stuff, but also same situation wrt to stuff you would want to throw in there not really fitting; can't get a whirlwind array inside it plus anything else so it's just overall less useful for that regard, but I always love it when a vehicle can convey it's own bits and bobs.

The Dorn had the benefit of being both large enough the parts that interchange being small enough that it's perfect for that type of thing.  I also sneak some other things in mine when storing stuff; plenty of LR barrels can fit inside them alongside the other stuff.

If you don't like the look of it, that's a personal thing (And easily changed if you actually play the army and want to run it; it's a modelling hobby, have some fun with it, there's tons of good conversions out there) and not worth really debating about.  But I think on a modelling basis, it's got great bits and bobs, it's got good modularity, and it's got a self storage option for it's extra stuff you may want to switch in and out.  Those are all wins.  I've never looked at the bottom of mine except to pull stuff in and out of it so I'm not sure why everyone's so worried about a big blank piece of plastic.

The Devil Dog (and the rest of the Hellhound gang) are built on the Chimera chassis; it sort of fits the bill if you squint but presumably a light tank would be a bit smaller.

Accidentally hit post too soon.

When has GW been worried about units stepping on each other’s toes?

just for guard, we currently have 3 different infantry squads that step on each others’ toes

3 HWSes that step on each others’ toes

hell hound variants and sentinels, etc.

lets not even get into space marines.

I mean sure, doesn't mean we can't wish for better.

I really dont want any more t3 trash that cant compete with the never ending stat hikes:ermm:

All I'm hearing is:
"As a guard player, I don't want more guard"

Also for those saying the Centaur is a russ variant, What's next? The Dorn being a "Chimera variant" because it has mud chutes?

I'm more bothered by the lack of base on the space marine atv (which also lacks a bottom?)

But really this isn't the thread to rehash this again. Can we keep it to the rumors, please?

When do we think we could learn if there's any stock to the rumors

Curious about the new Knight and what that might bring for Chaos Knights. Hoping we see something relating to Dark Mech at some point too. Also curious to see what comes out for the Khorne vs Grey Knight KT set. Wonder if it will be demon related or if we'll get a new power armor squad for a new type of Berserker. As for the GK side, I wonder if they'll be an upscaled version of what is out now or a new squad entirely?

So, on the subject of Kill Team, should there be a release coming up soon-ish? Before 11th edition drops? I've kinda lost track of the quarterly timing with the whole business of Raptors and Sisters being revealed months in advance due to the leak, but there should be at least another release coming in Q2, right?

And if so, should we except to see such a release to be shown at AdeptiCon?

I think we are due at least one more, perhaps two (if it's the same as a the Gallowdark season) - perhaps with an April and/or June release ahead of the new edition (with the following season delayed from the traditional September slot).

But that's also it as far as the Tombworld trilogy goes, the next boxes would presumably be stand alone or something that combines with one of the other sets.
