Both Thulia Ghuld and her legions of Hastarii will be joining Warhammer 40,000 alongside the terrifying new Defiler, Mutilators, and Iron Warriors. Believe it or not, that’s still not all that will be joining us for the next big expansion, so come back next week and bask in the shadow of armoured glory.

The Magos looks really cool but the skitarii look kind of wonky, they are not bad just weird  but not good weird. 30k Ad Mech keeps winning!

Either Knights or Guard.. Interesting..

Is it a bit odd that the admech character is from Mars and not Agripinaa, given that it is that forge world being invaded? I like the new models though, good to see the skitarii side of admech being expanded.

Didn't want a character rolling around who wasn't in the 'Eavy Metal Mars-scheme I suppose, or Lil Timmy's brain might exploded.

I'll go against the grain here, I like the new troops, but the admech character seems pretty... Meh? To me. Just looks like they copy pasted a ton of ad mech assets, rotated some and threw them all together.

For a faction where idiosyncracy is a defining factor for a lot of its big names being able to tell from which kit they used which part feels a bit disappointing.

I hadn't realized we needed a shot of the techpriest lifecycle in between the "Dominus" and "Belisarius Cawl" stages, but I can see the point now.

The heavy gunner troops also feel like something they were missing up til now

This all looks brilliant to me. I'm so glad to see more Mechanicus units and a second named character.

Will be adding these to my army as soon as they drop. They appear to be a unit of 5 models. I wonder if they can be run as a 10.

I'm not a big fan of flying or mounted units, so these appeal to me greatly.

Really like the new mini-Cawl-Archmagos. I might actually pick it up, which I cannot say for most of the recent Mechanicus releases (no stilts for me, thank you)

The Heavy Skitarii are ok, I'm not sure that I love the hunched/bulky upper look, but that's just a personal preference, the sculpts themselves are fine

It does make me really want heavier variants for other factions, like Heavy Fire Warriors or bulky breachers or something

We live in a world whereby boxes have "open box before eating pizza" on them so can we blame them? Lol

The Hastarii are presumably the units originally referred to as "Hephaestons" (Haephestons?) in the excerpts from Jes Goodwin's sketchbook.

Wish they'd explore the studio space a bit more. Every AdMech HQ is just a red drop cloth over a hat rack holding a laser gun, iPad, and servo skull. Give us a full-on spidery jorogumo robot, a more streamlined profile that reflects a minimalist strain in mechanicus thought, or maybe a character whose physical body is incorrupt – like a saint under glass - not out of reverence for the human form, but as a test to see if the human decomposition of the elder magii leads to subpar cognition or communion with the machine god. The Mechanicum has some nice weird flourishes, but this feels like a temu techpriest.

Admech were my first 2000 point army. I think they’re awesome. I like the models. I’m a bit over the “hero hammer” focus on named characters for 40K right now though.

I’m sure some love it and I respect that. But a Lion or Angron or Prince Yriel etc in every army is meh to me. Guess I’m just a little on the old school narrative side.

Also… baby got back?

I feel crazy, I can't be the only one who think the plastification of Mechanicum infantry in 30k has been disappointing. Idk if it's studio paint jobs or what, but I vastly prefer the 40k designs to the Heresy stuff, and I loved the old resin  Heresy designs. Something about the plastic Heresy ranges seems off to me, like everything is too bulky and thick now.

The one exception for me is the Myrmidons, they came out real well. I wonder if their size is comparable to these new Hastarii for those who want to use them as counts-as units. I really like both TBH. I kinda of wonder what role the Hastarii would serve in a world of Kataphron servitors.

You're not the only one. I vastly prefer the whacky mechanicus units of 40k. They are so much more inventive

I do miss the larger Robots from the 30k range however, I feel they need something like those in 40k.

It looks like my AdMech will keep on growing. The Character is probably not going to be my top priority asset, but the HW Skitarii certainly do fill a slot in the army list that was missing. I would have however preferred an Ogryn sized Skitarii unit but I can make my day with these bulky cyborgs.
