Allegiance: Chaos-aligned (Bloodspeakers Coven)

Date of Founding: As the Grey Regulars (M37) As The Bloody Greys (998.M41)

Homeworld:  Dengamar Prime (Greygar Sub-Sector)

Strength: 500,000 troops

Commander: Gul Dumir

Stronghold: The Palace of Glass

Regimental Colours: Grey and Red

Origins & History

Pre-fall into chaos, the Grey Regulars were a typical PDF army. Conditions on Dengamar Prime are harsh, consisting of a large desert super continent and a vast ocean. Soil was non-existent and the coast was battered by hurricanes while the interior suffered from large sandstorms and high temperatures. During the early history of the regiment, they would defend against pirates and ork raiders that would come across the isolated Dengamar system.

In M38, the construction of the Palace of Glass was commissioned. This coincided with the founding of the Palace Guard units of the Grey Regulars. These were highly trained elite corps of Grey Regulars similar in vein to the Cadian Kasrkin, although due to Dengmar’s location and resource availability were not as well equipped.

The Fall to Chaos

Throughout the millennium the Greygar Sub-Sector would become more and more unstable with the Octarius War. Sometime in late M41 the Palace Guard would fall under the command of Gul Dumir. Gul Dumir was a capable military leader, but would later be corrupted by the influence of a witch coven known as the “Bloodspeakers”. With unnatural charisma, he was able to influence the Lord Governor to vastly expand the weapon infrastructure of the Palace of Glass, as well as increasing the armoured assets of the palace guard.

In 998.M41, Gul Dumir would enact his coup upon the Dengamar government. He would anoint The Grey Regulars as Bloody Greys and start a systemic purge of the planet’s forces and administration. Most of the noble houses either were in league with the Dumir coup or were caught so unaware by the plot that they were destroyed with very little resistance. Loyalist forces put up a valiant fight against the Bloody Greys but most were driven to the wastes of the super continent.

Combat Doctrine

The Blood Greys are urban siege specialists due to their training as a palace guard force. Preferring close quarters and brutal assaults. While using armour assets as suppression units. The Bloody Greys also use Bloodspeakers acolytes, psykers who ensure command and control through psychic coercion and domination. The regiment also use creatures known as “Blood Brutes”. These are individuals that have been infused by the warp to gain giant strength and proportions.Usually standing 3 meters tall and utterly insane. They are typically used as shock assault troops

Always good to see another traitor guard collector, love what you've written!

Thanks!

I have been working on this project since 2010. Finished models will eventually appear in my blog. I'm just currently on my World Eaters right now

(I thought about making another thread regarding the commander of the Bloody Grey, but chose just to post it here)

Gul Dumir: The Glass Dragon of Dengamar

Designation: Lord-Governor (Renegade) Commander of the Bloody Grey’s

Former Rank: Commander of the Palace Guard, House Dumir

Affiliation: Chaos-aligned (Bloodspeakers Coven)

Threat Classification: Hereticus / Malleus

Status: Active planetary control (Dengamar Prime)

Origins

Born the second son of High Castellan Benjamin Dumir, House Dumir, one of Dengamar’s oldest noble lines, held sway over the Dengamar’s political and military elite. His elder brother Alistair trained in diplomacy and governance, Gul Dumir was never meant to rule. Gul was shaped into a weapon. Educated in strategy and the art of command.

He rose quickly through the ranks of the Palace Guard, Dengamar Prime’s elite defense force The Grey Regulars. Known for his silver tongue and surgical cruelty, Gul was both admired and feared.

History

Gul Dumir was a capable military leader with dispatching the pirates and the Ork raiders that harass the outer fridges of the Dengamar system during the early years of his career. But as the stability of the Dengamar faltered with the refugee crisis grabbing Dengamar by the throat, the glory to be had dried up. Gul Dumir would then receive a fateful mission. Sent to a region known as Ashen Reaches,  to apprehend a renegade PDF commander suspected of harboring xenos sympathies. What he found instead was a coven of warp-touched psykers known as the “Bloodspeakers”. Through ritual and revelation, Gul was shown visions of a future where he ruled Dengamar not as a servant of the Imperium, but as its liberator. The Bloodspeakers fed his ambition, twisted his loyalty, and awakened latent psychic potential buried deep in his bloodline.

Upon returning to Hydris City, Dumir would push Markgraf in giving the palace guard personnel and equipment due to the increasing civil disorder. With public strife at an all time high, Lord Markgraf gave more and more control over to Dumir. Gul enacted a swift and brutal coup. His elite Palace Guard, already loyal to him, turned on the planetary government. The orbital defense cannons were seized. Loyalist forces were scattered into the Sand Wastes.

He declared himself Lord-Governor of Dengamar, claiming the Imperium had abandoned the planet and that only he could protect it from the coming darkness.

Personality

Gul Dumir is a master manipulator. He blends charm with cruelty, often disarming his enemies with wit before delivering the killing blow. He views loyalty as a currency, not a virtue. His charisma is almost supernatural. He is not a raving cultist. He is calm, calculating, and terrifyingly sane. That makes him far more dangerous.

Appearance

Gul Dumir is a man in his mid-30s, tall and broad-shouldered, with a scar running jaggedly down the left side of his face from temple to jaw. He has dark, french cropped hair with streaks of grey at the temples and his complexion is pale, almost sickly. His lips are often cracked, and his voice is low and gravelly, carrying both charisma and menace. He's equipped with a corrupted power sword that drips with ichor when swung. His laspistol named "Red Fang" is modified for rapid fire. He wears grey and red artificer carapace armour that has a glass skull said to connect him to the Choir’s psychic resonance.
