One of the reasons that I enjoy collecting Ultramarines is the challenge of making them more interesting than their reputation suggests that they are. With that in mind, I killed off Marneus calgar within my head cannon and promoted Severus Agemman capatin of the 1st company.

No doubt Marneus died a very heroic death, unfortunately the right Gauntlet of Ultramar was destroyed so Agemman carries a huge ancient Legatine axe.

Obviously based on the leviathan terminator captain, I've added a few details from the Horus Heresy Ultramarines Cataphractii Praetor acquired by making some blue stuff moulds. I used the axe from that model because I think it looks amazing. I replaced the bolter with a plasma weapon as a nod to Agemman's predecessor Saul Invictus who carried a plasma plaster. I also chose to put the Tyrannic War veteran symbol on one of the tilt plates to reference his connection to them post 1st Tyrannic War.

I'm reasonably happy with how this turned out, I'm not sure the pose fits the belt buckle thing very well, and I think I may repaint the marble skull on the left shoulder pad red.

The marble paint effect isn't that great, it was my first attempt.

He looks great - the face and seals are really nicely done, and the weathering adds a lot to the model. The axe looks genuinely hot too.

I really like the base, too, with the tyranid skulls and flowers

Excellent work.

RE: Blue marble- for me, I consider leaving the U, and repainting the skull in the marble, but specifically making sure that the lines are finer and don't match the U so it looks like it's own piece of marble?

Exactly, the skull needs to stand out more. I was thinking red because red skulls often represent command. I think I can achieve finer lines, I painted this with old synthetic brushes which weren't really the right tool for the job.

you could also add a darker colour to add those finer lines.

For the skull to stand out I think the eye sockets should be a tad darker, that should give it a bit more definition.

As it stands, I still think you've pulled off the marble look, the adjustments are merely needed to make it a bit more readable due to the small scale of the miniature
