New novel announcement over on WarComm for 'Hive' by Dan Abnett.

Revealed: Dan Abnett’s latest novel sees a hive city teetering on the brink

Article is a little light on detail but looks like it comes in two volumes that will be sold as one set.

They're baiting at this stage, right?

I am genuinely perplexed as to what has happened with Padaemonium - Dan's indicated that it's been done for a while, but it seems to be being held back for lore-related reasons.

Neat. I am down for a self-contained novel set like this. Hope the Arbites get some time in the spotlight!

We may get Winds of Winter for GoT before Pandemonium.

Common speculation is that it is somehow related to Henry Cavil's 40K series for Amazon. The artwork for the latest Eisenhorn omnibus does look very familiar....

I mean, it’s not Bolter/SM fare, but dang Eisenhorn into Ravenor into Bequin would be a great series order, especially if Cavill wants the lead, as he could step back after a few seasons and still run/produce as we get Ravenor‘s arc.
Plus, dang Enuncia on screen? Take my money.

They sound like the kind of Black Library that I enjoy the most (I much prefer the novels which explore the setting - e.g. the Warhammer Crime series - to those which are more action-heavy, Ciaphas Cain and Gaunt's Ghosts excepted).

Hopefully they'll come out with an audiobook version, too.

Also, insert "where's pandaemonium?" grumble here ...

I will die on the hill that Henry Cavill should not play Eisenhorn - he should play Ciaphas Cain.

What goes on beneath the smog and sprawl of an Imperial hive city? They’re as varied as the worlds on which they’re built

Oh, are they?

Quote

The planetary governor has fallen amidst scandal and treachery, and the city chokes under the oppressive austerity of Imperial life while roving Adeptus Arbites patrols enforce the Lex Imperialis without so much as a hint of pity. The newly crowned replacement has a lot to contend with – not least that they are an outsider to this rough and dogmatic city – and already whispers of rebellion reach the upper spires.

So basically a 40k version of The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare?

He confirmed at his Waterstones event earlier this year it hadn't been written yet and it was on hold until GW asked him to write it (due to not being clear how amazon deal would go with stories).

I'll read it, as I like Abnett's work and giving him a hive city to work with sounds like fun and he can go to town on new/original characters/storylines (probably also why it is a duology instead of just a single book).

I am annoyed that Pandemonium is yet again not coming out or any new info on it, but can see GW using it as a spring-board for potential new units/characters in 11th ed so they are waiting for the edition to come out before the book.

Alan Ritchson is basic the same size as an Astartes…

Gotta say I do think he’s gotten too big.

I think we boycott BL until we get pandemonium
