Vassakov
They're baiting at this stage, right? I am genuinely perplexed as to what has happened with Padaemonium - Dan's indicated that it's been done for a while, but it seems to be being held back for lore-related reasons. Antarius
This seems like the kind of 40k book I might actually buy. The concept sounds quite interesting and it seems like the kind of thing Abnett’s talents are well suited to. I am down for a self-contained novel set like this. Hope the Arbites get some time in the spotlight! Common speculation is that it is somehow related to Henry Cavil's 40K series for Amazon. The artwork for the latest Eisenhorn omnibus does look very familiar.... skylerboodie and DemonGSides 2 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/387681-hive-by-dan-abnett/#findComment-6160813 Share on other sites
ggergnayr
I mean, it’s not Bolter/SM fare, but dang Eisenhorn into Ravenor into Bequin would be a great series order, especially if Cavill wants the lead, as he could step back after a few seasons and still run/produce as we get Ravenor‘s arc. Plus, dang Enuncia on screen? Take my money. Firedrake Cordova
They sound like the kind of Black Library that I enjoy the most (I much prefer the novels which explore the setting - e.g. the Warhammer Crime series - to those which are more action-heavy, Ciaphas Cain and Gaunt's Ghosts excepted). Hopefully they'll come out with an audiobook version, too. Also, insert "where's pandaemonium?" grumble here ... Ayatollah_of_Rock_n_Rolla
Quote What goes on beneath the smog and sprawl of an Imperial hive city? They’re as varied as the worlds on which they’re built Oh, are they? Quote The planetary governor has fallen amidst scandal and treachery, and the city chokes under the oppressive austerity of Imperial life while roving Adeptus Arbites patrols enforce the Lex Imperialis without so much as a hint of pity. The newly crowned replacement has a lot to contend with – not least that they are an outsider to this rough and dogmatic city – and already whispers of rebellion reach the upper spires. He confirmed at his Waterstones event earlier this year it hadn't been written yet and it was on hold until GW asked him to write it (due to not being clear how amazon deal would go with stories). skylerboodie and Subtleknife 1 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/387681-hive-by-dan-abnett/#findComment-6160843 Share on other sites

Lord_Ikka
I'll read it, as I like Abnett's work and giving him a hive city to work with sounds like fun and he can go to town on new/original characters/storylines (probably also why it is a duology instead of just a single book). I am annoyed that Pandemonium is yet again not coming out or any new info on it, but can see GW using it as a spring-board for potential new units/characters in 11th ed so they are waiting for the edition to come out before the book. I think we boycott BL until we get pandemonium I kind of have a semi boycott of BL for precisely this reason. I now refuse to buy anything that’s meant to be a series until all the parts of it are released. I feel like I’ve been burned too many times by BL starting a series then essentially abandoning it. They did it with the Sandy Mitchell dark heresy books, the Black Legion series by ADB and now the Bequin trilogy by Abnett. Those last two are by their A-tier writers too so nothing is safe from abandonment Antarius and Firedrake Cordova 1 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/387681-hive-by-dan-abnett/#findComment-6160879 Share on other sites
Antarius
Yeah, I'm trying not to buy into their series until they're done (or at the very least, each installment has a real ending, so the series can effectively just stop whereever they choes to end it). Ironically, if everybody did this, all series would be abandoned due to no sales, so it's a bit of a double edged sword. Development timescales are long! But I do wish we soon had something more concrete on the FW/Amazon slate. Reason for raising that is that we know Pandaemonium cannot be released until they have ensured all the lore lines up for the Amazon slate and (I suppose) the next edition of the TT game. What started out as a fun bit of lore progression in a single book series in the Abnettverse has seemingly been decided to have such ramifications (which GW like and are planning to adopt widely) that it all now needs to align. Shame for us awaiting the novel (for years) but interesting to see what happens. One fear I have is when they eventually do release part 3 it is in a new edition style forcing me to buy a third copy of Pariah and a second copy of Penitent grrrr I totally expect the first Amazon project to be Eisenhorn but that will have tentacles into other spin off series so that it all ties back to what happens in Pandaemonium. So…I will be surprised if there are no easter eggs in HIVE.
