What is or are most overpriced kits in your opinion?

Sure warlord and manta and such are huge papers weights, but something like Ballistus dreadnought, that´s easy to build mind you. Shouldn´t cost 60€? Other examples are suppressors and Outriders.

Suppressors never got their stand alone kit and are only obtained from bigger box and Outriders are 3 easy to build models for 50€

Most of the single character packs, in my opinion. The Primaris Chaplain, for instance, is a monopose model with no options and no customization and costs $42 USD.

That's a bonkers price for a piece of extruded plastic.

And let's not get into the Forgeworld resin characters...

Yeah anything with a squad side of 3 and any singular named Character are insanely over priced.  The whole of 40k is brutal right now but those are the big 'problems', tho there is something equally perverted about the idea of a Leman Russ tank being more than $50.

The true answer is probably the Impulsor, which sells in a $80 box while effectively being a worse rhino.  Double :cuss: with the Gladiator being $5 more but being a usable vehicle, AND containing an Impulsor as it's base frame (and then only really missing a few bits to make it WYSIWYG in a way no one would ever care about).

Honoured of the Chapter, Heroes of the Chapter and Heroes of the Dark Imperium before it are pretty bad. If you do want melta Eradicators AND Bladeguard, AND all the characters I guess it could be worse, but being the only place to get the Judiciar while also being Online Only (so no LFGS discount) has got to sting. Same with the Apothecary Biologis from Heroes.

The Scout Squad is pretty eyewatering for 10-models at £49.50 RRP without the 'eliteness' of other similarly priced units, but at least you can get those third party.

Tempestus Scions being £29.50 for 5 in a Guard army still makes me wince, even after they've been out for a decade (and started at £25 iirc?) - especially with the Start Collecting long gone and no Combat Patrol replacing it.

Acolyte Hybrids are even worse, being the same price as Scions and not even having the good grace to be an elite unit, but a core Troop of Genestealer Cults. GSC not being an especially popular army also means finding them second hand for decent prices is rarer.

Any single model plastic kit, especially non special characters/epic heroes for over £20. Age of Sigmar is pretty egregious for this, with a tiny skaven engineer costing like £24. The harlequin solitaire is pretty bad for it for such an old model these days.

Anything in resin. The cost for FW stuff is simply insane now. It doesn’t affect 40k as much but in 30k a Legion specific 5 man squad can set you back between £60 and £80. So at the top end about £16 for an individual, non character marine model. Just insane!

Adeptus Mechanicus Ironstrider Ballistarius - view 4

$40 on the GW website, 55 points in game. A model with a huge footprint that has a piddly little precision rifle. I think it's a cool concept, but I have no idea how they would make it feel worth it. The Marshal also gets a severe case of Character Tax considering how small the model is. He has ultimate aura in my opinion though, so I can't stay mad at him.

On the left Storm Speeder, which at the time I took the photo costed ca 60 EUR. On the right Takom's exterior only Tiger I kit number 2199, with metal barrel, some photoetched parts, link and length tracks and very nice zimmerit, which at the time had sugested price of ca 40 EUR. Somehow the speeder went up and is currently 64 EUR.

The Psychophage might not be the most overpriced model GW sells, even if it's definitely up there (and utterly farcical that it costs as much as it does considering what a small and simple kit it is next to, say, the Tyrannofex) but what gets me is GW had the gall to sell it for £40 when you can very, very easily get it on eBay new on sprue for as low as £12! That's not a one-off thing by the way, those things are all over eBay for absolute pennies. A shame as had it been even £25 I'd consider it a reasonably priced deal by GW's standards, and well within impulse buy territory. As it is, no.

They've managed to completely price me out of the "screw it, why not?" Price tier, even with the reductions you can get from a good store. It's insane that they think it can keep going on like this forever.  But apparently it can!

The £12 on eBay is almost certainly as a result of the Combat Patrol magazine having one on the cover at £10.

Great for converting into an LI scale Heirophant

I hadn't been able to bring myself to buy a single character model even in the early 2k's, with the exception of the original plastic SM captain, but that's because he came with a huge amount of options that could be used in kitbashing, and a metal techmarine because kitbashing their servo arm is difficult . The only other ones I have came in box set deals or used minis. The situation is even worse now, and so few come with any meaningful options or spare parts to use for other figures that they aren't even really worth it for kitbashing purposes.

Apart from that, the 3 and 5 man kits are also starting to get very pricey for what they offer. I may still pick one up from time to time, but it is not a satisfying purchase.

I can, to a point, understand it with character models, I imagine most of the cost come from paying the sculptor, and that it's not that much more if you're doing a single model single spew, than if you're doing a squad, and characters, especially named ones, sell less so they "need" to charge more for them. (I'm talking comparatively, they are all super overpriced.)

However, I can't imagine there's a worse non-character point for point than the Krootox Rider. 30 points in game, cost is $57.00 CAD, $48.00 USD, or 29.50 pounds from GW. It also happens to be the strongest model in the (admittedly strong) range, so if you want a competitive list, you want to run 9 of them. I'm lucky that I already had 6 of the old ones from years of collecting back in the day.

The new Red Corsairs unit is far too expensive for five minis. A real shame too, because they're some of my favourite CSM they're done so far and if they have released them in a box of 10 I'd have got at least a few boxes.

I don't think points costs matter when it comes to price for me, as I don't play the game and points scaling can always change. I collect AoS as well , and my Morbhrg Knights are comparable in terms of size and cost to my Krootox Rampagers, yet the Morbheg are twice the cost on AoS points. Does that mean I value my Morbheg knights more? No

What matters to me his how much plastic I'm gonna get and how impressive the minis are. And thats why I think the Flayed Ones are the WORST kit. You have fairly diminutive chaff infantry with no real variety and only five come in a box. Arco-Flagallents are very similar units and they come in a box of 10 WITH options. At least GSC Hybrids are a dual kit with a ton of spare bits.
