First post here, was wondering on some thoughs, comments and criticism for m 1000 point list

Hey Algzilla, welcome to B&C. 

 

Looking at your list, if you're going up against a lot of elite infantry armies in your local meta, I think you'll do pretty well. Outside of that though, I think this list will struggle a lot. 

 

How do you figure you'll take on a horde list that can put 80+ bodies on the table? Tyranid Gaunts, Chaos Cultists, Kroot, Guard Infantry, ect... I do not see any path to victory for your list against any of these, you just don't have the volume output. Anyone sporting vehicles with decent invuls will be a challenge too, however, at 1k, I don't think you'll see too much of that. Worst case scenario you just ignore the thing that's hard to kill and go for everything else. Even so, I think you'll struggle against things like a C'Tan shard from Necrons. 

 

The other issue is that you only have a handful of units in the list itself. While they are all solid combatants, you're going to have a lot of issues trying to do actions as each done will chew up a lot of your firepower. 

 

Here's how I would revise the list:

1. Swap the Enforcer for Commander Farsight. It provides a big damage buff in +1 to wound, making the unit not only a far stronger anti-elite threat, but also allowing them to punch up into larger threats much better. He also generates a free strat usage every turn. You also get at least one punchy unit to swing with in case the enemy managed to close on you. This saves you 15 points once you factor in the enhancement.

2. Swap 1 unit of Fireknives for Starscythes with Flamers. Attaching the Coldstar to this for Assault Flamers and the chip to refund the overwatch you can continue to throw around, this should be all you need as a strong anti-horde part of the army. Even outside of dedicated hordes, Ap-1 Flamers will still chew through MEQ's reasonably well too (especially if you throw 4 Flamers on that Coldstar, 10 D6 auto hitting attacks that you can fire twice per round because you're drowning in CP will clean a lot of things up fast.) This will also save you 10 points. 

3. I'd swap the riptide for a second Ghostkeel with the Cyclical Iron Raker. The punching power of these two intoo Elite infantry is pretty similar, but the Ghostkeel is more flexible, arguably more durable, and saves you 40 points. (If you were to keep the Riptide, I'd run the Ion Accelerator instead, especially now that you've got the anti-infantry angle covered.)

 

4. With the 65 points that we've freed up I'd run either Darkstrider or 10 Kroot Carnivores to just run around doing actions, screening, or holding objectives. Alternatively, if you find you've got plenty of CP, you could cut the Coldstar enhancement to go up to 90 points and run either a unit of breachers or a Pathfinder team, again just as a general support/objective unit. 

 

(I was trying to find a way to free up 100 points to keep it 100% suits, but it just didn't work out with the way the points come together. I suppose you could swap out the Fusion Ghostkeel for Sunforge suits to free up 20 more points.)
