Help with balancing out my 2000 point armies please.

Guys,

being new to all this, I’m looking at finishing up my Tyranid and Exorcist armies.  I’ve really just bought what I fancied so far and aimed for more of a melee style for both (I started out thinking Crour blades but Exorcists it is).

I’m aware I don’t have any transports or big guns on either side.

So far they are just for beerhammer but even so what will give me the best bang for buck points wise and financially?

1715 for the Marines and 1560 for the nids.

Id get a big guy for both armies; probably a tank for the Marines and either a couple more big guys or something like a Norn.

I'd suggest a Dreadnought for the marines as it's both a truly iconic unit and a good visual match up with the Tyranid monsters.

Great a Gladiator valiant and a Dreadnaught take me to 2k.  A norm emissary and a tervigon pretty much round the Nids up.

The norns definitely gonna be the big scary on the battlefield, but a giant insectoid monster probably should be!

If you ever decide to strip out some of those heroes, you could grab some drop pods or Transports for your Infernus Marines.

 Thanks Lathe, I’ll bare that in mind. I do favour troops walking across the battlefield but that’s a bit old fashioned. 
I worked out getting rid of the 2 ripper swarms for a lictor brings me to exactly 2k. Fair trade?
