=] EVENT: Call to Arms 2026: Heretic Astartes [=

Greetings Lords, Ladies, Sorcerers, Apostles, Champions, Warp Smiths, Masters, Mistresses, Princes, Princesses and Other Entities Favoured by the Warp

 

Call to Arms is back this year, with @Dr_Ruminahui running it again.  For those new to B&C or simply unaware, Call to Arms is a Forum wide event that this year runs from June 15th until September 15th!

 

The forum is split up into 5 Strongholds: Imperium, loyal Astartes, Chaos, Xenos and Heresy with all 5 factions competing against one another to paint the most in the 3 months time limit. There will be a Central hub thread for each of the Strongholds in the Work in Progress section of the Forge forum which will be linked once it's live. We can use thread to cross post in and track/give motivation to those participating.  For those of you familiar with previous Call to Arms events, the rules are exactly the same this year except for the new Rapid Deployment vow.

Note: Custom/Scratchbuilt terrain- use this list as a guide as to how many points tour terrain is worth, but please make sure to mention your terrain is custom when Vowing.

 

 

All points are per model. For example if you pledge 20 Legionaires (1ptx20), 3 Obliterators (2ptsx3), a Bloat Drone (4pts), and a Terminator Lord (5pts), your vow would be worth 35pts

 

Please feel free use this thread as a place to share your thoughts, ideas, and WIPs prior to the Event to motivate and inspire the Heretic Astartes and Chaos to Victory!!!  After June 15th, please do the same in the Chaos Stronghold!

For those who haven't done so already and are able, please consider donating to Bolter and Chainsword, as the current fundraising drive has not yet met B+C's yearly financial needs.  All the mods and event organizers do their work out of love for the site, and the funds being raised are to keep the servers running and the software up to date.

Really looking forward to this as always 

This year, I'm definitely going to be focusing my (chaotic) energies on a Word Bearers/Iron Warriors force, maybe a couple of Fallen too (still unsure whether to assemble my Red Corsairs as Fallen or IW). In any case, it'll be nice to get a lot of stuff done in a short burst of time (relative to The Long War) and hopefully sweep everything and everyone before us.

I know the odds may seem to favour the imperial lapdogs, but the arc of the universe bends ever towards Chaos!

Myself, I'll most likely be splitting my efforts between my chaos knights and my emperor's children - I have 2 big knights to paint and a whole swack of EC including Fulgrim.  I also have a few CSM models to throw in, in the form of my vindicator and abomination (chaos ogrynn stand in).

 

Spoiled with choices of what to paint, the question becomes what subfaction will I be supporting this year?  Probably EC, though if the weather doesn't get a lot drier soon to allow me to airbrush them, my main focus will be the 2 knights... so maybe Chaos Knights?

I dug out my 2nd edition Chaos codex (first 40K book I ever bought, by the way) yesterday after hearing the news of John Blanche's passing. I think I'll try incorporating some elements from his beautiful concept art of the different legions into my Word Bearers and Iron Warriors (interestingly enough, his IW illustration doesn't actually have hazard stripes on the armour, so much as "regular" stripes, although they do have them on their guns).

Finally got some decent weather when I also had the day free, so manage to air brush the base coat on a bunch of my Emperor's Children stuff, so that's the sub-faction I'll be vowing for.
