I'm very much enjoying following your chapter's lore and development. Thanks for the compliment. If I had the time and the mood to draw, I would like to draw some war art like in the official codex books. Because I would like to create my own Codex Book. I am currently professionally preparing books for a publishing house in my country. But I don't have time for that anymore creating 2d art for the web, coming up with texts and coloring miniatures, takes a lot of time. Wookiee2122
Today I want to show you the Apothecarion, ruled by an ancient veteran from Isstvan V. The Apothecarions of the Nineteen Red Ravens are a combination of cold-blooded scientists and fanatical guardians of genetic purity. I would be extremely grateful for any opinions and constructive criticism (C&C welcome!) Apothecarion Morr CaldarPhantom Chief Apothecary Apothecaries Chapter Serfs Medical Servitors The Apothecarion of theNineteen Red Ravens Chapter is a place dedicated to the preservation of the life, gene heritage and memory of their fallen brethren. Under the guidance of the Phantom Chief Apothecary, they oversee the health of Astartes, perform gene seed implantations and ensure their collection and preservation. In addition, apothecaries play a key role in rituals of death and transition, preserving not only genetic material from the bodies of the fallen, but also personal relics for sealing in tombs. Their work is a combination of science, faith and reverence for legacy, and their chambers are silent, shadowy sanctuaries of life between wars. Chief Apothecary: Morr Caldar The first Phantom Chief Apothecary A veteran of the 74th Company of the XIX Legion and a survivor of Istvaan V, he played a key role in saving his unit's geneseed. His expertise and discipline earned him the trust of the Raven Guard upon his return from the Warp, allowing him to oversee the purity of the survivors' geneseed. It was his unwavering work that later led to the founding of the Shadow Fears unit - and eventually the entire Chapter of Nineteen Red Ravens, of which he became the first Phantom Chief Apothecary. In this role, Caldar leads the entire Chapter's Apothecarion. He oversees the harvesting, testing, and preservation of the geneseed, insisting on strict adherence to both ritual and scientific protocols. He has built isolated crypts to store samples, personally oversees the training of each new Apothecary, and instituted a system of "gene memory" that links the physical heritage of the brothers to their actions. Morr believes that every sample carries a story - and that every brother is a continuation of a chain that began in the dust of Istvaan. His cold logic and almost religious devotion to the geneseed make him an almost mythical figure – a silent guardian of the chapter's future. Notable Apothecaries: Jareth Sorn (KIA) Legion Apothecary in Assault Squad - Positions in the Raven Guard Legion of the 31th Millennium. Apothecary in Command sguad 3. Company - Positions in chapter Nineteen Red Ravens. He came from 77th Company of the XIXth Legion. Apothecary Jareth Sorn came from 77th Company of the XIXth Legion, where he served as a combat medic in the assault unit. He was distinguished by his extraordinary diligence and calm, which he was able to maintain even in the harshest battles. On Istvan V, he became the last surviving Apothecary of his platoon. As the remaining brothers fell one by one, Jareth treated the wounded with unwavering calm, often working in the mud and blood. Aboard the Silent Omen, Sorn became the main authority on medical care and geneseed supervision. His dedication bordered on fanaticism - records indicate that he refused to regenerate his own physical damage until the geneseed of all his fallen brothers had been secured. The laboratory aboard the Silent Omen was transformed into a silent sanctuary; above each geneseed box hung the name of the fallen and a piece of their armor. Jareth was said to speak to these relics, as if he could still hear their voices. After returning from the Warp, he joined the Shadow Fears organization, where he became the chief protector of the gene heritage and symbolic guardian of memory. He was at the service of the chief apothecary, Morr Caldar. When the Nineteen Red Ravens Chapter was founded. His obsession with the purity of the Corax geneline deepened - he saw it as a sacred task and constantly warned against the possibility of "blood tainting". He died (009.M40) during the first days of fighting on Planet Guarion 12, defending the gene pool of his fallen brothers from an attack by Drukhr raiders. He refused to retreat and remained in the pits. His brothers found only charred armor and intact boxes of geneseed samples after the battle - proof that Jareth Sorn had fulfilled his promise. Gene-seed: After the Thunderhawk landed on Deliverance, each of the 33 Astartes was subjected to intensive genetic and psychological testing. The Raven Guard initially strongly suspected that these Astartes might have been seduced into Chaos in the warp. So the Raven Guard Apothecaries conducted detailed analyses of the geneseed. They compared it to the current Raven Guard gene. They checked for mutations, possible degeneration, and signs of Chaos contamination. Techmarines closely examined the ship's black box data, weapons, armor, and personal records of the surviving marines. Chaplains subjected the survivors to thorough psychological and loyalty tests. All tests ultimately confirmed the purity of their geneseed and, most importantly, their loyalty to the Empire and the Raven Guard. Their geneseed was declared a relic from the time of Corax - a treasure that can no longer be replaced. The then Chapter Master and Librarian decided on the need to isolate and protect this precious geneseed. He decided that this line of seed would never be connected to the main Chapter geneseed pool. It was stored separately, as the "Ancestral Strain". Access to it has since been limited to a limited circle of Apothecaries and Librarians, and of course the Mechanics. It was also decided that these 33 marines would be deployed within the Chapter as a separate unit – the Shadow Fears – an experiment to show whether it was possible to function with this genetic foundation in the long term. As time went on, the experiment proved to be successful. The Apothecarium slowly began to collect and cultivate the geneseed. And thanks to successful combat actions, the decision was finally made to found a successor Chapter with its own line of this refined geneseed. The Adeptus Mechanica showed great interest in such pure and ancient geneseed. For this reason, the Mechanics have maintained close and firm contact with the Nineteen Red Ravens Chapter for centuries. The Ordo Hereticus also has a vested interest in the Chapter, fearing that there may be a demonic mutation or warp contamination in the gene. If there is any sign of heresy, the Chapter will be purged. Genetic Flaws: Primarch's Curse: Lure of the Shadows The Raven Guard also suffer from certain genetic flaws inherited from the very nature of their primarch. The same flaws are also evident in the Nineteen Red Ravens. As a result, the behavior and general personality of these Space Marines, like their primarchs, also strongly reflects their combat doctrine. The Nineteen Red Ravens are also generally reserved, remaining in the shadows until the time is right to speak. When they do speak, they tend to be very defiant and terse, often denouncing the more direct combat tactics of their fellow Chapter members. When they become unstable, they also begin to mimic the sullen nature of their primarch before his mysterious disappearance. When this Chapter genetic curse manifests itself in an afflicted Battle Brother, it manifests itself in three phases: Phase 1 - The Battle Brother is accustomed to working in his small strike team and finds the direct tactics used by other Chapters brutal and ineffective. When given the order to make a direct attack, which he considers foolish, the Battle Brother is resistant, almost to the point of insubordination. Phase 2 - The Battle Brother becomes increasingly unmanageable and is quiet and brooding. He remains in the shadows during mission briefings, speaking only when absolutely necessary. For example, as with the Raven Guard, members of the Death Watch assassin team would feel uneasy around a moody Battle Brother and would tend to avoid him when possible. Phase 3 - Like the Raven Guard's battle brother, the Nineteen Red Ravens' brother despises the battle tactics of his fellow brothers, knowing that his more intelligent approach is the best path to victory. Gene-seed stock: The Chapter's main geneseed supply is stored deep beneath the fortress monastery on Guranion 12, in a subterranean crypt known as the Purifying Circle of Blood. This chamber is carved into the bare rock beneath the mountains and protected by multiple layers of security—including biometric seals, genetic keys that respond only to selected Apothecaries, and ancient mechanical locks designed by Elor Vex. Access is only possible in the presence of two high-ranking members of the Apothecarion and at least one chaplain, as each entry is accompanied by a ritual of oath and purification. The crypt is also completely isolated from the main power core, so that in the event of an attack or infiltration, the samples cannot be easily destroyed or taken away. Each geneseed sample is kept in a cryogenic unit with a connection to autonomous backup sources. The units are individually marked with the donor's name, date of death, and notes on their mental state—Morr Caldar believes that the seed also carries a memory. In addition to the main supply, there are also two portable capsules with 25 samples each - designed for rapid evacuation of samples in the event of the destruction of the monastery. These relics are constantly guarded by an armed servitor, sworn to secrecy and prepared to die before the seed falls into the wrong hands. Some of the seed samples are also entrusted to the Raven Guard and other Adeptus Mechanicus, to whom the chapter sends additional samples for safekeeping from time to time. Access to these samples is highly guarded to prevent any unauthorized intervention. For the Nineteen Red Ravens, the geneseed is not just a biological heritage - it is the spiritual foundation of the chapter, the living memory of Istvaan. Gene-seed purity: The geneseed of the Nineteen Red Ravens Chapter is considered to be of extraordinary value, as it comes from the 33 Astartes of the XIXth Legion, (and several other samples preserved in portable capsules) who survived and were brought back after the massacre on Isstvaan V – and were recruited before that event. This means that the Chapter's genetic material is derived from a relatively stable Raven Guard line from M31, which has not yet been disrupted by extreme experimentation or the genetic collapse caused by Istvaan. However, it carries several minor but permanent mutations that were characteristic of the XIXth Legion during the Great Crusade – such as the dysfunctional Betcher's Gland and the defective Melanochromatic Gland. Unlike the newer Raven Guard lines, which suffer from more severe degenerations after the failed cloning program and the long-term depletion of the gene pool, the Nineteen Red Ravens geneseed is significantly more stable and pure. This allows the Chapter to more safely create new brothers without the high risk of physical or mental mutation. However, the Chapter's apothecaries still maintain a strict protocol for monitoring deviations, believing that with each generation the hereditary burden can manifest itself again. This caution, coupled with a deep respect for the memory of the fallen, makes each new Astarte not only a warrior, but also a bearer of the legacy of an ancient, almost uncorrupted lineage. Gene-seed retrieval: Geneseed retrieval is a ritual as sacred as it is necessary in the Nineteen Red Ravens Chapter. When a brother falls, the Apothecary approaches the body as a relic, not a tool. Using his narthecium and a reducing needle, he carefully extracts the seed from the progenoid glands—one in the neck, the other in the chest cavity. The process is accompanied by a silent litany of the “Last Whisper,” recited by the Apothecary and the brothers present. Each seed is immediately sealed in a black metal vial and placed in a sanctum casket, protecting it from Warp contamination, physical, and other influences. The bodies of the fallen are often left at the scene of death, as Nineteen Red Ravens belief dictates—but the seed is always brought back, for “the memory of the brother must be preserved.” Upon return to the fortress, each seed cartridge is carefully cleansed, decontaminated, and re-cataloged under the Bloodline Code, maintained by the Chapter's Apothecarion. The samples are then stored in the Pure Circle of Blood enclosures—either as a reserve for the future or ready to be implanted into new recruits. Each sample is thoroughly tested for genetic stability and potential aberrations before use, with the Apothecary also examining the historical context of the originator—his or her actions, company, and manner of death. This information is considered important in selecting a suitable recruit, so that the new bearer is as true to the tradition and character of their predecessor as possible. This approach reflects the Chapter's belief that geneseed is not just biological material, but a living thread connecting generations of warriors, deserving of respect and responsibility. Organ characteristics: The Nineteen Red Ravens Chapter inherited most of the Raven Guard's genetic organs from before the Isstvaan V massacre, and most of them function properly. There are two known exceptions, however. Melanochromatic Gland: The Nineteen Red Ravens Chapter's gene seed exhibits the same defect as their parent Raven Guard legion. The gland, which is normally supposed to control skin pigmentation and protect the body from radiation, is either nonfunctional or severely weakened. The result is an extremely pale to ashen complexion for the Chapter's brothers, sometimes accompanied by hair loss or increased sensitivity to light. This appearance, while not physically serious, reinforces their symbolism as "shadow warriors" and terrifies many of their enemies, who view them as inanimate specters. Betcher's Gland: This organ is supposed to produce a corrosive saliva capable of dissolving metal and allowing for a poisonous discharge. It is completely nonfunctional within the Chapter, as it is within the parent Raven Guard Chapter. The Nineteen Red Ravens lack this ability, thus losing one of the less commonly used but useful features of the Space Marines. However, given the Chapter's fighting style - focused on precision, infiltration and surgical strikes - this loss does not limit their effectiveness in the field, and is considered more of a curiosity than a weakness. Chemicals: Silent Thorn: A special chemical. A microdose of neurotoxin injected directly into the spinal cord of brothers before they are deployed on particularly dangerous missions, particularly against the forces of Chaos. The substance suppresses instinctive reactions of fear and panic, calming breathing and heart rate while sharpening the senses. Astartes under the influence of Silent Thorn react with icy calm even in environments where others would go mad – such as near the Warp, in combat with demons or during interrogations. The effects wear off within an hour, but in more sensitive individuals they can induce brief memory-type hallucinations – this is considered by the Chapter to be a favorable sign of connection with the past. Raven Caustic: A dense black aerosol with microscopic crystals, it is a chemical weapon. Released through modified grenades. The substance is designed to attach to organic and metal surfaces, where it immediately begins to break down molecular bonds. It is particularly effective against xenos with chitinous shells or against heretics in armor without full sealing. Raven's caustic also blinds, irritating the nerve endings of the eyes. Before the chemical penetrates the enemy's organism in the space where it has spread, it also absorbs light, creating a shadow effect and causing disorientation in space. It is used only exceptionally when cleansing areas where direct contact is not desired. Other: The 33 Astartes, who entered the Warp in the 31st millennium and did not return until the early 39th millennium, differ from their kind in another disturbing way: since their re-emergence in reality, they have aged noticeably more slowly. Their long imprisonment in the Warp has left a subtle but permanent mark on their physiology - as if time has passed differently for them even after they have escaped the warp currents. The Apothecaries have noted that their cellular regeneration and geneseed stability exhibit anomalies that cannot be attributed to any known mutation or heresy, but nevertheless defy even the standards of their parent chapter, the Raven Guard. Of the 33 survivors, several are still alive in M42. Their vitality defies all medical expectations. They do not appear to have been corrupted by the warp—more like they carry a subtle “warp of time” that has slowed their aging without granting them true immortality. Although the Nineteen Red Ravens Chapter has drawn its gene seed directly from these original 33 survivors since its inception, the question remains whether this warp anomaly is passed down through the generations. No younger brother has yet shown similar signs of extended vitality—but both Apothecaries and Librarius admit that it will take time to answer. Some believe it was a unique consequence of long wandering through the Warp that cannot be passed on… while others argue that such a legacy can only manifest after centuries of service. Wookiee2122
Today I want to introduce you to the Phantom Forge armory of the Nineteen Red Ravens chapter. Below you will find a complete overview of the functioning of the workshops, descriptions of unique relics, Dreadnoughts, the fleet and also a short text about the fleet. I will be extremely grateful for any of your opinions, comments and constructive criticism (C&C welcome!). Forge and Armory Elor Vex “The Screw” Phantom Maste of the Forge Jarek Thuun Phantom Guard of the Death Forge-Wrights Forge Servitors Nineteen Red Ravens Chapter Armory, known as the Phantom Forge, is the heart of the Chapter’s technological might and the place where all war equipment is created and repaired, from simple bolters to thunderous Dreadnoughts. Led by Phantom Master of the Forge Elor Vex, nicknamed “The Screw,” and his faithful Morrificator Jarek Thuun, the Armory serves not only as a workshop but also as a sanctuary where machines come to life in the hands of the red-armed brothers of the Mechanica. This techno-sanctuary carries the deep legacy of the XIX Legion. The Legion reflects the ingenuity and independence of the Chapter, which is not afraid of innovation as long as it serves the Emperor faithfully. Used Titles in the Forge Phantom Master of the Forge - the Master of the Forge guardian of the technical heritage of the Chapter. Phantom Guard of the Death - the supreme administrator and maintainer of the walking war machines of the Dreadnoughts. Phantom Guard of Wheels – a title that symbolized the supreme administrator and maintainer who oversees all of the Chapter's ground-based machinery, such as tanks and motorbikes. Masters of Forge and Armory. Elor Vex “The Screw” Phantom Master of the Forge After the founding of the Nineteen Red Ravens Chapter, Elor Vex quickly became its first Forgemaster – not only due to his abilities, but also due to the trust placed in him by all the brothers who had survived the horrors of Istvaan. He took his place within the Chapter as an indispensable guardian of the technological heritage – not only as a maintainer of the machines, but as their interpreter, translator and protector of their “souls”. Unlike the orthodox members of the Adeptus Mechanicus, Elor maintained a personal, almost familial relationship with the machines – often speaking to them, joking with them or scolding them as needed. His private workshop, deep in the bowels of the fortress monastery, is filled with strange relics, debris and parts, which he transforms into new tools, weapons and monuments. Vex has always been a man of action. While he honors the traditions of Mars, he is known for his principled disregard for approval – if a machine serves a purpose, he will improve, reshape, or merge it with another, regardless of the strict rules of the Mechanicus. As a result, the Chapter possesses several unique relics and variants of technology not seen elsewhere: such as hybrid power batteries created from remnants of xenos technology, servo-automatons adapted for silent movement in swampy terrain, or silent chain blades. Some of these inventions are frowned upon by the Adeptus Mechanicus – but the Chapter’s successes in the field and Elor’s meticulous documentation keep tensions within bounds for now. Despite his age, graying beard, and the emergence of a bionic eye, Elor Vex remains the living spirit of the Chapter. His nickname “The Screw” has survived the decades as a symbol of tenacity and ingenuity – and every young Tech Marine knows that there is no shame in being tasked by the Vex to “take it apart again.” In addition to weapons and machines, he maintains a memory record of every piece of equipment the Chapter has ever possessed, from relics to fallen servitor wings. When a brother falls, Elor is often the one who creates a silent memorial from his equipment—a bracelet, a shield plate, or a modified motorcycle exhaust. At the heart of the Chapter's armory, his name is etched deep—not as a commander's, but as one that never left the workshop, even in its darkest hours. Jarek Thuun Phantom Guard of the Death After the founding of the Nineteen Red Ravens Chapter, Jarek Thuun took his place of honor alongside Elor Vex as the supreme steward of the death-breathing war machines, the Dreadnoughts. His title of Phantom Guard of the Death is more than a formality—it is an expression of a deep commitment to serving his fallen brethren, whose minds and souls reside within their adamantium sarcophagi. Thuun's workshops, immersed in perpetual twilight, are filled with incense, silent prayers, and the sound of heavy hydraulics—a place between life and death where the heroes of the Legion sleep. Jarek is known for his unwavering devotion. Each new Dreadnought is consecrated before his eyes, each repaired anew blessed with oil and rhythmic hymns. He treats his brothers imprisoned in eternal coffins with quiet respect, speaking to them, consulting with them – and sometimes even sitting at their pedestals, as if conversing with old friends. He keeps detailed records of each of them: their sins, their deeds, their words before their transfer and their last fight in a mortal body. He believes that as long as they are remembered and their machines serve, they have not fallen in vain. Within the structures of the Chapter's armory, Thuun is a voice of restraint – unlike Elor, he does not desire innovation, but preservation. He is a guardian of tradition, the one who warns against too wildly modifying ancient chassis. It is thanks to him that the Chapter has retained several functional machines from the old era – most notably Contemptors with partially preserved 19th Legion insignia. The oldest of them, named Kalvus Mortem, holds within itself the heroic soul of the first Chapter Master – and Thuun personally oversees every maintenance, every awakening, and every putting to sleep. His work is not just technical – it is spiritual, symbolic, and deeply rooted in the memory of Istvaan. Relic Wargear: Shadow Whisper – Elor Vex’s Chainblade: This unique chainblade was created during the Chapter’s early missions. Elor Vex designed it as an attempt to combine the brutal power of a chain weapon with the need for silent movement and rapid action. The tempered ceramite alloy blades are balanced so that vibrations are not transmitted to the handle upon impact, minimizing noise. The blade is completely silent at rest and only activates upon full contact with its target. The “Shadow Whisper” has become a symbol of the Chapter’s inventive spirit – a weapon that combines lethal efficiency with the silence of a predator. There are not many of these weapons in the Chapter. It is used exclusively on select missions by Phantom Blades specialists, where stealth and silent death are the key to success. The Adeptus Mechanicus looks down on it due to its unconventional silent drive technology, but its performance in the service of the Emperor is unquestionable. Silent Thunder: Bolter Silentus-Mod V.2. This is a bolter adapted to suppress the noise of the shot, equipped with a special damping mechanism and a recoil stabilizer. This development began as a secret project of Elor Vex and Jarek Thuun, when they were looking for a way to expand the operational capabilities of the Shadow Fears in combat behind enemy lines. The weapon operates on the basis of a hybrid ventilation system that absorbs the overpressure created by the shot, and in addition, it contains a sacred resonance converter, partly derived from pre-Imperial plans. This relic is not widespread in the Chapter - there are only 2 pieces, and both are owned by two experienced Phantom Scouts. Despite its silence, it does not lose its destructive effect, and the projectiles are able to penetrate even Terminator Armor. Although the Adeptus Mechanicus protested against “unofficial modifications to weapon formulas”, no Magos have yet been able to achieve a similar result in the laboratory. Thunderheart Module: One Hybrid-type energy battery. This relic is the result of an unorthodox attempt to reactivate destroyed weapons during one of the campaigns against the xenos on the Outer Rim. Here, Elor Vex discovered fragments of a power core of unknown origin, apparently of xenos construction, and managed to integrate them into backup power modules. The resulting hybrid battery produces a constant flow of energy with exceptional stability and resistance to overload - ideal for reactivating weapons in battle. The "Thunderheart" allows heavy weapons to be recharged without the need to return to base, greatly increasing the combat effectiveness of forward units. The Adeptus Mechanicus responded with a sharp protest and demanded the relic be destroyed immediately. However, the Chapter responded by declaring it a "sacred adaptive link of war doctrine", buying time to quietly begin building more prototypes in the future. Mirror Skin: Adaptive Plate Cloak Mk.Omniflex. The Chapter's armory also houses an experimental armor relic - an adaptive cloak that can adjust its surface to the surrounding environment. Based on pre-Imperial research into optical scattering, it is composed of thousands of micro-reflective cells controlled by an artificial neural network. The cloak can adapt to both the color and heat signature of the terrain, providing near-invisibility in both swampy and urban environments. This cloak is worn by only one brother of the Chapter - an intelligence specialist known only as "The Twelfth Raven", who serves as the mysterious shadow of the Chapter. The relic is unstable, requires regular servicing in deep layers of code and material, and has rejected several other users. However, its abilities make the wearer an almost legendary shadow, appearing only in the dying moments of enemies. Torn Voice: Sanguinal Echo Helmet. This relic is a relic from the days when the Chapter was just a small unit called the Shadow Fears. It is a modified Mk.VI helmet, which has been integrated with a recording unit that captures the death scream of the fallen brother Tarsius. The scream recorded during the final battle against the Word Bearers is quantum encoded and can be played back through a modulator directly into the enemy’s vox fields. The effect? Panic, confusion, flashes of hallucinations and often a complete loss of combat concentration. The use of the “Torn Voice” is considered an almost sacred ritual – the helmet is only deployed in the darkest battles, when it is necessary to break the enemy’s morale without firing a shot. Chaplains participate in a ceremony of silence when using it, as the helmet contains a literal imprint of the last scream of a brother who hated the traitor so much that his voice resonates through the Warp. "Nail Eyes" Vex-Thuun Σ1 Multispectral Optics Set: Originally created as a replacement optical sensor for a damaged Dreadnought, this relic has become a key component of the helmet assemblies of the Chapter’s three elite snipers. The “Nail Eyes” contain spectral lenses capable of analyzing thermal, electromagnetic, energy, and warp signatures at medium range. Thanks to them, the shooter can locate even hidden or cloaked targets, and even predict the trajectory of projectiles at extreme distances. Their construction is so complex that Jarek Thuun himself described them as “The unique luck of a creative rite. A union of metal and faith.” The Armory protects all three sets of the set as sacred artifacts, only the best snipers have the right to use them during the most important campaigns. Chapter specific wargear: As a Chapter with deep roots in the lore of the XIXth Legion, the Nineteen Red Ravens maintain an armor that reflects both ancient lineage and adaptations that have emerged from their specific style of fighting. Most brothers wear the iconic Mk VI Corvus Armour, often modified for silent movement and camouflage. These modifications include sound-absorbing layers, matte anti-glare finishes, and in some cases the integration of passive cooling modules to reduce infrared signature. A smaller number of brothers wear Mk VII and Mk VIII armour, usually in specialized roles or as a result of long service deployments and the need to replace armour components. In terms of heavy equipment, the Chapter favours fast and flexible vehicles. They often deploy Storm-type Land Speeders and motorbikes, including older designs from the Horus Heresy era, Outrider Bikes. Armored support is dominated by Whirlwinds and Vengeance Land Speeders, their striking power concealed beneath a deceptively quiet profile. In keeping with the Raven Guard's heritage and its own penchant for ambush warfare, the Chapter also retains the rare Lucius Pattern Drop Pods, with their modified, quieter drop pods that launch the Brotherhood directly into the heart of enemy lines. The Chapter's equipment thus becomes a manifestation of their shadow warfare - precise, sudden, and unstoppable. Servitors: The Nineteen Red Ravens Chapter employs about 100 servitors, mostly in the forges, hangars, and apothecaries. Many of them have been modified by Techmarines to be quieter and better suited to the harsh environment of Guranion 12. They often have enhanced sensors and a silent gait. In combat, servitors are used only very rarely, in the form of heavily armed Combat Servitors. Armed servitors serve primarily as guards at important points in the fortress monastery. Forge servitors work in the armory with several mechanical arms, while Med servitors assist the Apothecarion with geneseed and care for the wounded. Equipment: The Nineteen Red Ravens Chapter has an extensive arsenal of support equipment, reflecting their Raven Guard origins and their emphasis on mobility, precision, and stealth. Standard equipment includes Jump Packs for ambush attacks, camouflage cloaks woven from fibers that absorb both light and heat signatures, and sensor readers capable of detecting even the slightest movement or biometric anomalies. Commonly deployed tools include communications jammers, portable vox receivers, silent thermal charges, and gravity anchors for securing in difficult terrain. Due to the frequent fighting in swamps, ruins, and underground chambers, the Chapter often uses terrain scanners and folding bridge plates to overcome obstacles. The Chapter's manufacturing capabilities are based around a forge in the main fortress on Guranion 12. Although not a full-fledged Forge World, the Chapter manages to regularly repair and produce basic technical equipment - primarily jump packs, explosives and sensors - thanks to the leadership of Elor Vex and Morrificators like Jarek Thuun. Special orders, such as higher-grade cloaking fields or silent chain blades, are created in limited series and considered valuable relics. All technologies are carefully documented to maintain the Chapter's tense but tolerable relationship with the Adeptus Mechanicus. Sting of Vranak - a modified bolter with a suppressed shot and a higher rate of fire, designed for infiltration operations. Corvid-pattern Lightning Claws - lighter and faster versions of the lightning claws with magnetic hinges for carrying on the forearm. Grav-shard Grenades - silent disintegrating ammunition made from repurified graviton cells, used for sabotage and terrain disruption Spectral Targeter - a compact optical sight capable of tracking both thermal and chemical traces, mounted on sniper rifles. Ravenwing Smoke Canisters - chemical grenades that create black dense smoke with an auspex signal absorber. Talon-pattern Chainswords - lightweight chainswords with sound insulation and stabilization for precise silent strikes in tight spaces. Silentus Ammo - special subsonic bolter ammunition with controlled core disintegration, designed for minimal recoil and noise. Mk.VI Corvus "Whisper" Pack – an improved jump pack unit with a reduced thermal signature and silent launch Weaponry: The Nineteen Red Ravens Chapter, based on the Raven Guard doctrines of war, emphasizes precision strikes, silent movement, and rapid target destruction. Their arsenal reflects this - their standard armament consists of modified Sting of Vranak bolters, which have a muffled shot and an increased rate of fire, allowing infiltration squads to conduct effective fire without revealing their position. Members of reconnaissance and strike units commonly carry Silentus Ammo, a subsonic bolter ammunition with a collapsible core. In tight spaces or during night operations, Talon-pattern Chainswords are often used - soundproofed chain swords designed for precise and deadly strikes without disturbing noise. For close combat, selected veterans appear with Corvid-pattern Lightning Claws, light and fast variants of the classic lightning claws with magnetic hinges for easy access during combat. Chapter specialists are equipped with advanced systems such as the Spectral Targeter, a compact sight capable of tracking even weak chemical or thermal signatures. This system is often mounted on sniper rifles to eliminate key targets from a distance. To support movement in combat, the Chapter makes extensive use of the Mk.VI Corvus "Whisper" Pack, a modified jump pack unit with a reduced thermal signature and muffled operation, allowing for silent attacks from above or rapid retreat. Sabotage units have Grav-shard Grenades, silent disintegrating munitions derived from graviton cells, ideal for disrupting structures and technology without large explosions. In addition, Ravenwing Smoke Canisters are commonly used, grenades that create a chemical black smoke capable of blocking not only visibility, but also basic sensors and auspexes. The Chapter has its own limited production capacity, overseen by the Silent Fire Forge and its master, Elor Vex. This is where specialized ammunition is manufactured, common weapons modified, and unique modifications developed – particularly for bolters, chain guns, and jump systems. Larger heavy weapons and vehicle weapons (e.g. lascannons, plasma cannons, rocket launchers) are of standard Codex Astartes standard and are used primarily in ravager squads and defensive positions. Although the Chapter keeps some technical procedures secret, most of its equipment is compatible with Imperial weapons standards, ensuring operability even outside their own supply network. Vehicles: The Nineteen Red Ravens Chapter, as the successors to the Raven Guard, maintains an arsenal of vehicles adapted for rapid movement, infiltration operations and support in inaccessible terrain. The most frequently deployed vehicles are the Rhino and its subspecies – Razorbacks and Whirlwinds – providing transport and fire support to the front lines. The Chapter also possesses a limited number of Land Speeders, used for reconnaissance, ambushes and disruption of enemy lines. Given their specialization, the Nineteen Red Ravens place an emphasis on air mobility – Thunderhawks, Stormravens and lighter Stormtalonys remain in service, some of these machines being relics of many centuries old. These machines are carefully maintained in Techmarine doctrines and entrusted only to experienced crews and veterans. Heavy armored vehicles, such as Land Raiders, are less common in the Chapter and are used only in siege operations. However, the arsenal includes several Vindicators and one unique Relic Predator Destructor, known as the Ash-Eater, modified for urban combat. Since the Nineteen Red Ravens are unable to produce new combat vehicles and depend on the Mechanicum for supplies, they place great emphasis on maintenance, renovation, and recycling of components. Their Techmarines and Servitors are able to keep even damaged equipment in combat condition well beyond their normal service life. The Chapter's choice of vehicles is thus a reflection of their tactical flexibility, loyalty to the Raven Guard, which prefers rapid movement, covert approach, and strike from an unexpected direction. The Chapter's manufacturing capacity is concentrated in secret workshops on Guranion 12. Although they are unable to mass-produce new vehicles, their Techmarines and Servitors are able to maintain and repair most of their machines using preserved schematics, rituals, and reverse engineering. The Chapter prides itself on refurbishing and recycling components, often creating hybrid designs from available parts and preserving functional relics from ancient times. The production of spare parts, ammunition, and minor equipment is self-sufficient, but for larger repairs or major construction, they cooperate with the loyal faction of the Adeptus Mechanicus. Fleet: The Nineteen Red Ravens Chapter fleet is designed for rapid movement, precision strikes, and independent operations—just like its parent legion, the Raven Guard. The heart of the fleet is a pair of Battle Barge-class battleships, serving as mobile fortresses, command centers, and bases for mass troop landings. Each of these ships has hangars for Thunderhawks, Drop Pods, and support engineering forces, and features its own crypts, libraries, and temple spaces. One is typically on active duty in the field, while the other provides protection for Guranion 12 and serves as a backup command post. The fleet’s main combat force is made up of seven Strike Cruisers, the most prominent of which is the Silent Omen—the historic ship of the original Shadow Fears unit and today the personal flagship of the Chapter Master. Strike Cruisers are used for landing smaller forces, ambushes, and operations in enemy territory. Each is equipped with fast hangars, powerful yet accurate armament, and relics or equipment specific to their role, from transport to intelligence. The fleet is rounded out by 13 escort ships, consisting of frigates and destroyers. These smaller vessels perform a variety of support roles: reconnaissance, electronic warfare, communications jamming, defense of the capital ships, and supply transfers. They are fast, agile, and often equipped with cloaking panels or silent engines. Combined with ambush, escape, and strike back tactics, the Nineteen Red Ravens fleet is a compact, effective force that appears without warning—and disappears without a trace. Dreadnoughts: The Dreadnoughts of the Nineteen Red Ravens Chapter are revered as living witnesses of war, relics of the brotherhood, and the last voice of the past. They preserve their wounded heroes in the bodies of Castaferum and, rarely, the Contemptor Leviathan Dreadnoughts, which they regard as temples of adamantium. For the Chapter, placing a brother in a Dreadnought is not a matter of pragmatism, but a sacred act—it is performed only when the warrior has not only survived the impossible, but whose mind and spirit are strong enough to endure an eternity of vigil. The transfer to the sarcophagus is always accompanied by a ritual led by Morrificator Jarek Thuun, who, as the Phantom Guard of the Death, watches over these warlike souls, keeping their machines pure and balanced. The records preserved by the Librarians of the Nineteen Red Ravens, drawn from the 33 survivors of the XIXth Legion, contain knowledge of the long-lost battlefields where the wreckage of fallen Dreadnoughts rested. The Chapter has occasionally recovered and reverently restored these relics of war—particularly the rare Contemptor and Leviathan. Each find is conducted by the Techmarines in strict observance of the rituals of the Omnissiah, and is considered an act of service to the Empire and a tribute to the memory of the fallen. Dreadnoughts are never awakened lightly. Their spirits are fickle, burdened by centuries of battle and memory. Awakening is accompanied by the chanting of their brothers, the consecrated oil of the Morrificator, and the presence of the Chaplain, who anchors the warrior’s mind in the present. Each Dreadnought has its own name, niche, and votive decoration—and the silence in the monastery hangar is almost sacred. The Chapter’s manufacturing capacity does not allow for the construction of new units—each new Dreadnought is a precious gift, a sacred obligation, and a bearer of the past. Within their bodies live the shadows of Istvaan, echoes of memory, and a spirit of vengeance that never sleeps. Notable Dreadnoughts: "Shadow Eagle" Contemptor-Incaendius Dreadnought The most revered of the Chapter's metal heroes is Seraphon Krol "Shadow Eagle", the first Chapter Master and now housed in a jump-equipped Contemptor-Incaendius Dreadnought equipped with an Incaendius Booster Pack. This type of Dreadnought was used exclusively by the Blood Angels Legion during the Great Crusade and the Horus Heresy of the 30th and 31st millennia. The Nineteen Red Ravens, using old war records, found and recovered the destroyed machine from the battlefield of Vorxos 18. In the decades that followed, Jarek Thuun reconstructed and repaired the destroyed machine. "Shadow Eagle" Sleeps in deep stasis hibernation, only awakened in the most difficult times - as a warrior, advisor, and living witness to Istvaan. My real miniature "Shadow Eagle" Contemptor-Incaendius Dreadnought. "The Unsleeping" Contemptor Dreadnought Beside "Shadow Eagle" in the corridors of the monastery hangar, Kyros "The Sleepless" is found. The Contemptor Dreadnought's metal body was discovered on an ancient battlefield and Jarek Thuun has respectfully reconstructed and repaired it. Kyros' unyielding will gives strength to the rhythm of the gunfire and silence between the screams. Kyros still serves in his Contemptor as a protector of his brothers and a vigilant guardian of the rituals of memory. My real miniature "The Unsleeping" Contemptor Dreadnought “Thunder of Vengeance” Leviathan Dreadnought The third most revered of the metal warriors is Brakiel Dornan, a former Devastator who is now anchored in the mighty Leviathan. His metal body was also discovered on an ancient battlefield and Jarek Thuun has respectfully reconstructed and repaired it. Brakiel’s metal body is equipped with devastating heavy weapons – a symbol of unyielding determination and iron will. My real miniature “Thunder of Vengeance” Leviathan Dreadnought These three most revered metal warriors are not only the Chapter's weapons, but also the bearers of its roots, a direct line to the Chapter's bloody beginnings dating back to Istvaan V. Wookiee2122
Today I'm starting a series of posts about all ten companies. First, we'll take a look at the elite themselves - the 1st company of the Nineteen Red Ravens chapter. I'd be extremely grateful for any of your opinions, comments, and constructive criticism (C&C welcome!). Nineteen Red Ravens 1st Company "Keepers of Silence" Keepers of Silence an elite unit made up of the most powerful warriors of the Nineteen Red Ravens, renowned for their mastery of infiltration combat. In addition to standard Terminator armor, they have access to the best stealth armor in the Chapter, which is why many of them wear modified Mk6 and MK7 armor. Terminators are only deployed against the most tenacious enemies. In times of war, they are deployed where it is necessary to break resistance, stabilize the front line, or strike a decisive blow to the heart of the enemy. Company Oath: „We are the silence between heartbeats — and in that silence, we endure." Basic description The First Company of the Nineteen Red Ravens Chapter represents the very heart of the Chapter — an elite unit that embodies a combination of discipline, silence, and unwavering courage. They are veterans of centuries of combat, their names whispered with reverence and respect. These Astartes are not just warriors, but living symbols of the memory of Istvaan, the 19th Legion of the Raven Guard, and the legacy of the Shadow Fears. While most of the Chapter's companies specialize in infiltration warfare or swift strikes, the First Company represents its "Phantom Shield" — the force that enters battle when all else fails. Each member of the company has undergone long years of service and introspection before being promoted to their ranks. Their oath is not to win, but to maintain a balance - between anger and humility - in the Chapter. Hence they are called Kror's Keepers of Silence; their presence on the battlefield is ominously calm, yet all the more relentless. In battle, the Keepers of Silence move with surgical precision. They master the art of both infiltration and defense, moving from the shadows to the frontline, and their formations adapt to the situation with an almost inhuman coherence. Members of the 1st Company have access to the Chapter’s most precious equipment – Tartaros-type Terminator armor, relics from the 19th Legion era, as well as personally maintained Mk VI and Mk VII, modified for silent movement and enhanced camouflage. They only deploy their Terminator armor in the most difficult of engagements, when they need to stand as an immobile fortress against demonic forces or as a crushing force in the conquest of key worlds. For most missions, however, they prefer lighter armor configurations that allow them to fully utilize their tradition of speed, precision, and silent killing. Each member of the company is equipped with a personally customized weapon – from ornately decorated bolters to ceremonial chainswords bearing the names of their fallen brothers. In battle, the 1st Company acts as a moving wedge of shadows – combining the Raven Guard’s infiltration doctrine with the tactical resolve of units designed for direct engagements. They always attack in coordinated, precisely timed waves, aiming not only to destroy but also to break the enemy’s morale. They often appear where the battle seems lost – their arrival is accompanied by whispers of “ravens from the ashes”. When they enter the fray, their arrival means only one thing: the inevitable end of any battle. In times of peace, the company serves as the protection of the fortress-monastery on Guranion 12, where it provides training for officers and recruits destined to command higher formations. When the Chapter Master leaves the world, Anorn and his brothers assume command of the entire fleet. Veterans Squads Strike Cruiser for deployment of 1st Company Captain: Dorono Anorn “Silent Shield” Second Phantom Master of the Keep, Captain of the 1st Company. Anorn was one of the first Astartes to be recruited into the Shadow Fears after the Raven Guard was formally accepted as an experimental formation. He hailed from an unnamed world that had been completely destroyed during the crusade against the pirates. Even as a recruit, he was distinguished by his unwavering calm, strong sense of discipline, and ability to listen - qualities that earned him the nickname Silent Shield. He initially served as a Devastator in the Shadow Fears, but quickly rose to become a trusted confidant of the command circle, and his ability to hold the unit together in times of crisis became legendary. He survived dozens of missions, and his name became synonymous with unwavering stability among his brothers. After the death of First Captain Vaedran Koror in M39.892 during the defense of Citadel Kuthren on the planet Sibiss 7, it was almost inevitable that he would succeed him and Dorono would lead the 1st Company - not only as a commander, but as a spiritual support and pillar of balance. His deep understanding of the structure of the Chapter and his devotion to the legacy of the fallen of Istvaan led to his being bestowed the title of Phantom Master of the Keep and the post of Deputy Chapter Master. He is not a passionate speaker or an aggressive strategist, but his decisions carry the weight of a hammer, and his presence brings order to chaos. In times of uncertainty, the brothers often turn to him - for they know that Dorono Anorn will never back down, never waver, and always stand as a fortress in the heart of shadow. Duties as Captain: He serves not only as the commander of the 1st Company, but also as the administrator of the fortress-monastery on Guranion 12 and the regent of the entire Chapter homeworld. When the Chapter Master is absent or unable to command, Dorono assumes all responsibility for the Chapter's operations, defending the world, and overseeing the recruitment of new recruits. It is also his duty to maintain a balance between military command and the spiritual shadow that permeates the culture Chapters. In peacetime, he oversees the training of the most elite veterans, in wartime, he leads the attack where unyielding strength and centuries of experience are needed. Notable Campaigns Defense of Kuthren Citadel on the planet Sibiss 7 (892. M39) Notable Space Marines Vaedran Koror (KIA) First Phantom Master of the Keep. Captain of 1. Company - Positions in chapter Nineteen Red Ravens. Hailing from Company 99 of the XIX Legion, Korr was known for his unyielding loyalty to Corax and his ability to maintain order even when the fight seemed lost. He was among the lucky few who evacuated with Corax from Istvan 5. A few months later, he personally volunteered for a mission aboard the Light Cruiser Silent Omen. He considered this mission a duty to his fallen brothers who remained on the surface. Korr was quiet, direct, and deeply disciplined. Aboard the Silent Omen, he served as a commander, his authority among his brothers unshakable. After returning from the Warp, Vaedran Korr was one of those who had the hardest time adjusting to the changed times and world. Everything he knew—the brothers, the legions, the Emperor's Dream—had crumbled to dust long before they arrived. Yet he had become one of the pillars of the newly formed Shadow Fears. His discipline and sense of duty helped hold the unit together when others were falling into doubt. He was unyielding, stern, but fair. For him, there was no "giving up"—only "holding on." Korr became a natural deputy to Captain Seraphon Krol, often leading the unit's smaller strike operations, during which he became renowned as a master of coordinated ambushes and encirclements. After the founding of the Nineteen Red Ravens Chapter, Vaedran Korr was appointed First Phantom Master of the Keep, captain of the 1st Company. His company became a symbol of steadfastness and brotherhood. Korr reshaped the Chapter's fortress doctrine—he saw defense not as a static position, but as a network of living points capable of immediate counterattack. In his eyes, defense was a form of patient offense—and his brothers learned to fight and die accordingly. Vaedran Korr fell in M39.892 during the defense of Citadel Kuthren on the planet Sibiss 7 when a fleet of Word Bearers attempted an invasion. He personally led the final counterattack in the outer tunnels of the citadel, where he encountered the dark apostle Neplehan Draknor. Though gravely wounded, he activated the citadel's self-destruct sequence, burying the entire assault force beneath the rubble. His final words, transmitted via vox, became a legend of the Chapter: "The shadows of the fortress will not fall while the last Raven breathes." In memory of his sacrifice, the First Company is nicknamed Korr's Guard—the Chapter's elite shield and a symbol of boundless loyalty. Varek “Nameless” (KIA) Veteran Comnd Squd 1st Company. Assault Marine - Positions in chapter Nineteen Red Ravens He was a member of the 55th Company Assault Formation of the XIX Legion. His past before the battle of Istvan V remains shrouded in mystery – during the fighting on the planet’s surface, he suffered a severe head injury, which resulted in the loss of part of his memory, including his own name. Yet his body remembered what his mind had forgotten. He instinctively mastered tactics, movement, and combat – evidence of years of training and countless battles. Despite his injuries, he never lagged behind his brothers and continued to fight with unwavering ferocity. Varek received his new name from his brothers in the hell of Isstvan V. After returning from the Warp, he served as a veteran in the Shadow Fears unit, where he demonstrated his unwavering loyalty and tenacity. He fell in the year M40.009 during an operation on Guranion 12 – unknown by his original name, but forever remembered for his later actions. "The Twelfth Raven" Veteran Sergeant Honor Guard 1st Company. The Shadow That Listens. No one knows his real name – in the Chapter archives he is only identified as Task Force XII, nicknamed “The Twelfth Raven” by his brothers. He was born into the Fenmath clan in the misty mountains of Guranion 12, where as a boy he would disappear into the mist for days, hunting silently in the silence of the mountain passes. During his selection for the Chapter, he demonstrated exceptional spatial orientation and the ability to “disappear” – literally melting into the shadow of a rock. He survived his initiation silently, without complaint, and never spoke of his visions. His training in the Scouting Unit developed into a silent mastery of surveillance, infiltration, and intelligence operations – he became the Chapter’s eyes in the dark. His skills led to him being entrusted with the Mirror Skin relic – an adaptive cloak that had rejected several other users whose minds were not quiet enough or whose bodies were too coarse. Raven accepted the cloak without a word. From that moment on, he became a legend—his brothers spoke of him in whispers, saying he was present in every traitor’s premortal vision, that he would appear on the battlefield only once, silently, to bring news or death. His voice echoed from vox recordings like a shadow—never in real time. His messages came unsigned, but their accuracy was impeccable. Today, the Twelfth Raven serves directly under the Chapter Master—part of the Honor Guard, yet he rarely appears in the brotherhood. It is believed that he knows the paths of the enemy before they take them, that he gathers words from the breath of the dead, and that the Chamber of Memories bears his traces. Some say he never sleeps. Others say he speaks to the spirits of the fallen in the mists of Guranion. Whatever the truth, one thing is certain: when the Raven steps forward, no one notices his presence—only a shadow, only silence… and then death. “Thunder of Vengeance” Leviathan Dreadnought The third most revered of the metal warriors is Brakiel Dornan, a former Devastator who is now anchored in the mighty Leviathan. His metal body was also discovered on an ancient battlefield and Jarek Thuun has respectfully reconstructed and repaired it. Brakiel’s metal body is equipped with devastating heavy weapons – a symbol of unyielding determination and iron will. Wookiee2122
Today take a look at the 2nd company of the Nineteen Red Ravens chapter. I'd be extremely grateful for any of your opinions, comments, and constructive criticism (C&C welcome!). Nineteen Red Ravens 2nd Company "Watchful eyes" Watchful eyes the 2nd Company of the Nineteen Red Ravens, known as Watchful Eye, is the Chapter's first line of warning and last line of defense. Its brothers are masters of observation, infiltration, and silent intervention - detecting threats before they strike and eliminating them with surgical precision. Under the leadership of Phantom Master Dith Kallendus, they have become the invisible shield of Guranion 12, a force that watches even when others sleep. Company Oath: "Our steel is the shield of the Emperor's will, and our loyalty will never fade." Basic description The 2nd Company of the Nineteen Red Ravens, known as the “Watching Eyes,” is a unit specialized in long-term infiltration operations, covert reconnaissance, and asymmetric defense. It excels in its ability to operate independently, without direct support from the fleet or higher headquarters. Each member of the company is trained not only as a fighter, but also as a tracker, saboteur, and observer. They use silence, deception, and precise coordination — their presence on the battlefield often remains undetected until the mission is completed. The 2nd Company is often deployed first into a conflict to map the situation and prepare the ground for the intervention of heavier units. It operates as an independent shadow force — moving deep into enemy territory, disrupting logistics, destroying supply lines, and eliminating command centers. Its tactics combine classic Raven Guard elements — infiltration, lightning strikes, and silent retreat — with a strict patrol structure that operates in cells of three to five. These small groups can operate in isolation for weeks, gathering data and carrying out surgically precise sabotage before reuniting with the rest of the company. In open combat, the 2nd Company serves as the Chapter's defensive backbone. They can create a fortress system from complex terrain, ruins and underground complexes - a dynamic defense that constantly moves, deceives and lures the enemy into traps. Their defensive lines are not static - they are alive, changing and deadly. Captain Kallendus teaches his men that defense is not waiting, but a silent counterattack: every position they hold is just bait for a strike from another direction. For example, in the battles for the Gathan Sector or in the defense of the ruins of the Varrash Citadel, the 2nd Company became famous for its ability to stop many times stronger enemy forces without ever engaging in direct combat. Instead of frontal clashes, they destroy command centers, communication nodes and supply lines. When the enemy finally arrives to fight, they find only rubble and silence. Devstator Squads form mobile fireteams, while Tactical Squads and Assault Squads conduct precisely coordinated ambushes and attacks from unexpected directions. Each of their strikes is the result of patient observation—and each victory a reminder that the raven strikes only once, but always fatally. In addition to their combat role, 2nd Company is responsible for strategic patrols and internal security for the Chapter. They monitor warp anomalies, guard genetic supplies, patrol perimeters, and provide communications between companies in the field. This combination of duties makes them considered the most disciplined and reliable unit of the Nineteen Red Ravens. Where other companies attack, the Watchful Eyes remain—silent, invisible, and ready to strike when no one is looking. Squads Strike Cruiser for deployment of 2nd Company Captain Dith Kallendus Second Phantom Master of the Watch, Captain of the 2nd Company. He was one of the first recruits to the Nineteen Red Ravens Chapter after its official founding, and comes from the Terval tribe, who have guarded the passes in the misty mountains of Guranion 12 for generations. Even as a young warrior, he was known for his tenacity and ability to spot a threat before it strikes. After being accepted into the Astartes, he excelled in tactical drills and position defense - and above all, in his ability to maintain composure in the midst of chaos. His service in the 2nd Company brought him to the command staff, where he proved himself not only as a soldier, but as a thoughtful strategist and reliable organizer. His appointment as Captain and Phantom Master of the Watch came as a natural progression when First Captain Erios Maen died in 226,M40 during Operation "Silent Mercy" on the ruins of the moon of Kaharis. VKallendus is a man who seeks not glory but strength; he does not call for an attack, but protects that which must not fall. His brothers see him as a living wall – a silent, unyielding defender who watches even when others sleep. His determination is unwavering and his belief in duty absolute – making him a role model for future generations of Chapter defenders. Duties as Captain: He is the ultimate commander of the Chapter Fortress defenses and oversees the security of the homeworld of Guranion 12. When the Chapter Master is off-planet, he assumes full responsibility for coordinating defense systems, standbys, and forces. He has the authority to call defense units, activate reserve armories, and direct defenses in cooperation with the fleet and Techmarines. He also ensures that all access to genetic resources, libraries, and relics is protected according to Chapter protocols. Notable Campaigns Defense of Kuthren Citadel on the planet Sibiss 7 (292. M40) Notable Space Marines Erios Maen (KIA) First Phantom Master of the Watch, Captain of the 2. Company - Positions in chapter Nineteen Red Ravens. Erios Maen hailed from the 71st Company of the XIX Legion and was already known as a master of infiltration and silent killing during the Great Crusade. On Istvan V, he led a small squad of legionnaires who remained behind enemy lines for weeks after being betrayed. He ambushed supply convoys, laid traps and dismantled fortifications, and killed traitors one by one. As Corax's forces withdrew, Maen remained behind to cover their retreat. His people no longer saw him as human - he became a shadow, moving among the rubble and blood, unseen and unheard. After returning to Delivrance, he volunteered for the Silent Omen mission, acting as the infiltration operations commander aboard the ship. After returning from the Warp, he became a pillar of the Shadow Fears unit, where he led training in silent operations and infiltration. His fighting style was surgical and emotionless, his presence commanding respect even among his officers. Maen was a man who considered silence the highest form of devotion - he used to say that "In the dark, there are no words, only deeds." When the Nineteen Red Ravens Chapter was founded, Maen was appointed the first Phantom Master of the Watch, taking over the chapter's defenses, its warning systems. Under his leadership, the 2nd Company became an elite force in the defense of fortresses, night raids. His brothers said of him that he "never sleeps - he just waits until darkness comes." He died in M40.226 during Operation "Silent Mercy" on the ruins of the moon Kaharis V. In the final stages of the battle, he faced the mad World Eaters champion Gorovath Boron - a giant warrior who wore the bones of his victims attached to his armor. Maen faced him with cold precision, dodging his blows and delivering the blows like a surgeon. When severely wounded, he did not retreat. With his last strength, he stabbed Gorvath with his own chainsword and then bled to death. His death was not noisy - just quiet, dignified and wordless, just as he had been all his life. Wookiee2122
Today take a look at the 3rd company of the Nineteen Red Ravens chapter. I'd be extremely grateful for any of your opinions, comments, and constructive criticism (C&C welcome!). Nineteen Red Ravens 3rd Company "Ash Wings" 3rd Company of the Nineteen Red Ravens, is the backbone of the Chapter's overwhelming firepower - a disciplined and precise network of brothers who have mastered the art of both concentrated attack and calm waiting. They are masters of coordination, able to combine devastating firepower with precise maneuver, transforming the battlefield into controlled chaos where every shot has a purpose. Their strength lies in raw brutality - in the calculated cadence of fire, in the precise timing of support, and in absolute loyalty to command. In peacetime, they are the pillars of the Chapter's logistical and technical support, in wartime they become a storm of controlled fire. Third Company embodies the balance between reason and fury - between the calm before the storm and the thunder itself that strikes when the time comes. Company Oath: „Every blow is a judgment, every wound an oath — never to be forgotten." Basic description 3. Battle Company Nineteen Red Ravens is the heart of the Chapter's overwhelming strike force - a unit that embodies the lightning-fast, decisive blow. If the first company represents patience and the second firmness, the third is pure storm. Its brothers believe that speed and precision are the highest forms of courage - to strike before the enemy can draw breath and disappear before they can respond. Their every attack is a symphony of movement, explosions and precisely timed fire, reflecting years of training and the spirit of Istvaan - relentless, silent and deadly. The company operates in smaller, highly mobile squads that operate independently but are subject to strict coordination from a central command. They use a combination of drop pods, Rhino transports and air support to strike from where the enemy least expects it. Each Marine of the third company is trained in multiple combat roles - they can function as a marksman, assaulter and technical specialist. This principle of adaptability makes the company an extraordinarily flexible force, able to respond to changing situations in a matter of minutes. Under the command of the Phantom Master of the Arsenal, Kosse Rushia, the company focuses on perfect coordination of fire and the use of weapons in all their forms - from heavy bolters and plasma cannons to precisely guided salvo attacks by Devastators. Kosse's approach is technically sophisticated - every hit has its purpose, every explosion its place. He sees war not as chaos, but as geometry. This discipline is also reflected in the tactics of his subordinates: they attack in rhythm, in a series of deliberate steps that dismantle the enemy's defenses before they even realize that the battle has begun. The Third Company has become a symbol of power in motion - the striking fist of a Chapter that is not afraid of conflict, but never leads it unnecessarily. Their battle motto, “When the thunder sings, shadows fall,” reminds us that even in the noise of war, they remain true to their essence—warriors of darkness who strike with precision and depart in silence. Where other Marines see combat as a storm, they see music; and their song is the destruction of those who stand against the Nineteen Red Ravens. When the Nineteen Red Ravens Chapter is not fighting, the 3rd Company plays a key role in the maintenance and management of the Chapter’s arsenal. Under the supervision of the Phantom Master of the Arsenal, they oversee the functionality of all equipment, conduct weapons system tests, manage ammunition supplies, and replace worn components. Their Marines are also the chief instructors in marksmanship and are responsible for training their younger brothers in combined-fire strategy and coordinated strikes. On Guranion 12, they work with the Techmarines to improve their weapons. Squads Strike Cruiser for deployment of 3rd Company Captain: Koss Rushius “Singing Thunder” Phantom Master of the Arsenal, Captain of the 3rd Company He was one of the last recruits to be inducted into the Shadow Fears unit before it was transformed into a separate chapter. Coming from an overpopulated technoworld devastated by the orc invasion, he already as a novice showed extraordinary technical intuition and a fascination with weapons in all their forms. It was he who, during one of the missions, restored a broken energy battery under enemy fire and turned the tide of the conflict. He quickly gained a reputation as a tireless practitioner - he studied designs, analyzed, and tested. He was known for knowing more about every weapon he carried than its manufacturer. Following the death of Brann Kelvos, the first captain of the 3rd Company, in 312.M 40 during the siege of Fort Varakonn on the edge of the Gathan sector, Koss Rushius became the natural candidate to succeed him as the Chapter's leader, a company that relied on precise, coordinated firepower - the 3rd Company. His ability to optimize weapons systems and effectively manage the distribution of ammunition was crucial in many operations where supplies determined the survival of units in the field. He earned the nickname Singing Thunder, for his attacks were not only devastating, but also precise and timed with almost orchestral precision. As Phantom Master of the Arsenal, he combines practical experience with a deep devotion to the Order, in which weapons are not just tools, but acts of faith. Duties as Captain: He holds the key role of Chapter Administrator in matters of armaments and ammunition. He is responsible for the inventory, distribution, and operational status of weapons systems, from personal weapons to heavy support systems to specialized ammunition and relic weapons. He works closely with the Techmarines and forges, overseeing supply logistics and ensuring that each company receives the appropriate equipment for its tactical deployment. In times of crisis, he has the authority to allocate weapons from reserve stores or release relics into combat - and his decisions often determine whether a mission ends in victory or loss. Notable Campaigns Siege of Wharakonn fortress in Gathan (312.M40) Three Broken Wings on Antheron (505.M40): Imperial reconnaissance probes arrived at the planet Antheron—an agroworld crucial to the supply of the entire subsector — and confirmed the presence of a small fleet of World Eaters in orbit. It turned out that the forces of Chaos had already occupied the planet and were beginning to transform its surface into an arena of blood and madness. The first distress call for help came from the ruins of the former monastery of the Order of the Black Lilies, where the last surviving sisters were putting up a desperate resistance against the invading World Eaters. At the request of the Ordo Hereticus, the Nineteen Red Ravens Chapter responded, and three of its companies - the 3rd, 4th, and 10th - were dispatched to the planet to disrupt the occupation, locate and destroy key enemy command posts, and assist in the evacuation of civilian and clerical personnel. During the fierce fighting in orbit, the Chapter's units were dropped into the atmosphere under full fire, while the battle fleet fought a desperate battle with the World Eaters. At the climax of the battle, the Chapter's flagship, the Bleeding Claw, was badly damaged by a combined volley of torpedoes and plasma fire and exploded before evacuation procedures could be completed. Captain Helrak Fenn, Phantom Master of the Wings, of the 4th Company, died on board. The explosion also hit the supporting frigates, disrupting communication and coordination between the companies. The Astartes were thus drawn into the ground fighting in isolation, with no hope of reinforcement or retreat. The surface of the planet quickly turned into a bloody hell - the World Eaters already controlled key areas, and the lower orders of demons roamed freely among the ruins. Heavy fighting took place in the ruins of the city, with every street a new trap. Reconnaissance units of the 10th Company, led by Tharek Duskborn, were sent to map the enemy positions, but they were ambushed - Tharek was mortally wounded in a battle with World Eater berserkers while covering the retreat of his unit and the seriously injured Sister Claris of the Order of the Black Lilies. His body remained at the scene of the clash, but his efforts saved many lives. The Sororitas became a key ally at this stage - their faith and firepower helped hold the lines where technology and discipline failed. The fighting on the surface lasted for two long weeks, during which the situation changed with every hour. Each day brought new clashes, new casualties. The tactical units of the 3rd Company led key counter-attacks to slow down the World Eater units advancing from the eastern slopes. Jorvan Kreel, a veteran of the command platoon and a natural leader in the field, took command of the shattered unit after their sergeant fell. He coordinated the devastator fire and the attack with the Sisters of the Order of the Black Lily in an area known as Cathedral Pass. Kreel died while leading a counterattack to cover the retreating Allied forces—he was swept away by a plasma shell blast. However, his decisive leadership allowed the sororitas to pull their badly wounded to safety. After three more weeks of grueling fighting and defensive maneuvers, the turning point came—but not from the Nineteen Red Ravens. The decimated 3rd, 4th, and 10th companies had suffered heavy casualties and had to retreat to the ruins in the mountains, where they dug in and attempted a last-ditch hold. Reinforcements arrived. Ordo Hereticus units, Sisters of Silence, more Sororitas of the Order of the Black Lily. The new forces managed to deal decisive blows to the Chaosites. And in the end, they won - the Chaos portal was closed and the remaining World Eaters scattered. The battle was won, but not won - not for the Ravens. The loss of three veterans from Isstvan V, the destruction of the Chapter's flagship, dozens of fallen Astartes, and the collapse of the operational structures in two companies dealt the Chapter the greatest blow since its founding. The name of the battle - "Three Broken Wings" - became synonymous with pain and sacrifice. Notable Space Marines Brann Kelvos (KIA) First Phantom Master of the Arsenal, Captain of the 3. Company - Positions in chapter Nineteen Red Ravens. Brann Kelvos came from the 127th Company of the XIX. Legion, and was one of those marines who believed that the strength of a marksman lay in calm, not in fury. As a heavy-armored devastator, he was renowned for his unerring accuracy and ability to maintain fire even in the most chaotic conditions. On Istvan V, his heavy bolter literally tore through the sky—covering the retreat of several units until his weapon melted in the heat. As the others sought cover, Kelvos stood in the open, sheltered only by the shadow of the rubble and the belief that as long as his brothers breathed, his weapon must speak. On board the Silent Omen, he served as the weapons keeper. His relationship with Techmarine Kalith Marr was a mixture of respect and friendly rivalry—together they kept the ship in combat readiness and had endless debates about the accuracy, efficiency, and spirit of the machine. Kelvos was a pedant—he knew the serial number of every weapon, as well as when it had last been blessed. To the brothers of Silent Omen, he was a sure-fire symbol—a symbol of strength that protects from afar when all else fails. After returning from the Warp and founding the Shadow Fears, he took over the heavy weapons and fire structures. When the Nineteen Red Ravens Chapter was founded, he became the first Phantom Master of the Arsenal, responsible for all armories, heavy support units, and devastaters, and was also an instructor in ranged combat. He believed that the discipline of the weapon reflected the discipline of the soul. He died in M40.312 during the siege of Fort Varakonn on the edge of the Gathan Sector. The 3rd Company of the Nineteen Red Ravens was called upon to defend the fort from a World Eaters raid. During a battle with the warp beasts, he was buried under rubble after remaining on the ramparts and personally manning the heavy cannons to hold off the enemy advance. His brothers later reported that even after the wall collapsed, the fire from his post continued for several minutes - the final proof that Brann Kelvos never stopped fighting. He was known for his words: "The blood of Corax will not fade as long as my will flows in it." Wookiee2122
Today take a look at the 4th company of the Nineteen Red Ravens chapter. I'd be extremely grateful for any of your opinions, comments, and constructive criticism (C&C welcome!). Nineteen Red Ravens 4th Company "The Veiled Talons" The Veiled Talons 4th Company of the Nineteen Red Ravens Chapter is an elite unit specializing in long-term infiltration and stealth operations, acting as an extended wing of the Chapter's fleet. Its brothers master the art of stealth warfare—sabotaging, infiltrating, destroying key targets, and disappearing before anyone can react. A combination of tactical, assault, and devastate squads allows the company to operate in small, highly self-sufficient teams that operate deep behind enemy lines. Their doctrine of "lost sound" demands absolute silence, discipline, and precision; every strike is conducted to be final and devastating. In addition to their combat role, the company provides training for the Chapter's pilots, scouts, and saboteurs, and maintains databases of covert routes, encrypted signals, and other information. Company Oath: „We are wings of steel that hold the line when others fall." Basic description The 4th Company of the Nineteen Red Ravens Chapter is the core of long-term silent operations and infiltration battles. Its structure is built on a balanced combination of tactical, assault and devastator squads that move as one unit - silent, invisible, but deadly. Each brother of the 4th Company is a master of camouflage, silent movement and working with the environment. They fight in small teams that can adapt to any battlefield - from urban ruins, to jungles, to orbital wreckage. Their strength lies not in firepower, but in controlling the pace of battle. They always strike first, accurately and without warning. When the smoke clears, all that remains is silence, disabled sensors and dead enemies. The tactics of the 4th Company are based on the principle of "lost sound" - the doctrine according to which the ideal fight is one that the enemy never notices. The Company operates in small, autonomous units, operating deep behind enemy lines, often without direct contact with command for hours, days, weeks and months. Each team is completely self-sufficient - equipped with supplies, weapons and data keys to sabotage communications, logistics and energy. Their fighting style is to silently disrupt enemy structures: destroying convoys, sabotaging weapons depots, disrupting transmission networks and breaking enemy morale with psychological attacks. The enemy is often unaware that they are facing Astartes - until their world collapses into chaos. The Tactical Squad acts as the intelligence core and observers, while the Assault Squad provides silent ambushes and close-quarters target elimination. The Devastator Squad acts as silent fire support - their weapons are modified to produce minimal thermal and acoustic signatures. Dreadnoughts are deployed only occasionally, equipped with dampened servo systems and cloaking fields to operate in close coordination with infantry units. The company also plays a key role in the Chapter's fleet operations. Under the command of Phantom Master of the Wings, Knorr Torexas, the 4th Company becomes the Chapter's extended arm in space - conducting silent landing operations, eliminating orbital batteries, sabotaging communication nodes and securing landing zones for other forces. Combined with air and space units, they create a unique synergy - a shadow that can strike from the sky as accurately as from the depths of ruins. Off the battlefield, the 4th Company acts as the intelligence center of the entire Chapter. Its task is to collect and analyze data from previous battles, maintain an archive of hidden routes and enemy signals. Squads Strike Cruiser for deployment of 4th Company Captain Knorr Torexas Second Phantom Master of the Wings, Captain of the 4th Company. He hails from the Vardun mountain tribe on Guranion 12, where he was known as a tireless hunter and stargazer as a boy. After being accepted into the Astartes, his exceptional spatial awareness, quick decision-making, and exceptional sense of technique quickly became evident - qualities that predestined him to serve as a pilot. He became a legend in pilot training, performing maneuvers that other crews would have considered suicidal during simulations and live-fire missions. He was soon transferred to Techmarine training, where he mastered the basics of machine understanding, but instead of the classic forge, he remained among the stars - as one of the best pilots, tacticians, and navigators of the Chapter. Over time, his role expanded: he piloted various strike force machines, during orbital landings, and rescued his brothers from the maelstrom of lost battles. He personally planned and directed several successful blockades. After the death Helrak Fenn of the first Captain 4th Roy, his ability to read the air and space as others read a map made him a natural choice to command the 4th Company and the entire air wing of the Chapter. As Phantom Master of the Wings, he is not only the tactical brains of space operations, but also a symbol of mastery over the sky and space. The brothers trust him not only for his experience, but also for his calm determination - they know that Knorr Torexas is a man who will never lose his bearings, even when consumed by the darkness of the stars. Duties as Captain: As Phantom Master of the Wings, Captain Knorr Torexas is responsible for all space operations of the Nineteen Red Ravens Chapter. As Fleet Admiral, he commands the flagship and all accompanying vessels - from battleships to strike cruisers to escort frigates. He plans and coordinates orbital landings, blockades, atmospheric penetrations, and warp moves across the Chapter. His job is to ensure that every mission has the necessary support from space and that Chapter units can operate quickly, silently, and deadly effectively at all times. He also directs the training of space pilots and crews, oversees the fleet's health, and makes decisions on the deployment of individual ships, including the allocation of transports to companies. Notable Campaigns Three Broken Wings on Antheron (505.M40)... („For the full text, see 3rd Company...“) Notable Space Marines Helrak Fenn (KIA) First Phantom Master of the Wings Captain of the 4th Company - Positions in chapter Nineteen Red Ravens He came from the 60th Company of the XIXth Legion and was known as an ace pilot. During the massacre on Isstvan V, his Thunderhawk was shot down, but thanks to his masterful piloting skills he was able to make an emergency landing and save part of the landing party. He suffered serious injuries during the landing, which prevented him from further service as a pilot, but he was still able to fight with a bolt pistol in one hand. He played a key role in repairing the crashed Thunderhawk and became Jarek Thuun's co-pilot during the desperate escape from the planet. After returning from the Warp, he served with the Shadow Fears as commander of the Silent Omen, a modified attack cruiser that the unit used as a base. After the founding of the Nineteen Red Ravens Chapter, his experience earned him the title of first Phantom Master of the Wings, Captain of the 4th Company. He became Admiral of the Chapter's fleet and commander of its flagship and all space assets at the Chapter's disposal. He was killed in M40.505 during the Battle of Antheron when the flagship Bleeding Claw exploded while attempting to personally evacuate the stricken sections of the ship. His body was never found, but his name is engraved on a bronze plaque in the fleet's command hall. Wookiee2122
Today take a look at the 5th company of the Nineteen Red Ravens chapter.I'd be extremely grateful for any of your opinions, comments, and constructive criticism (C&C welcome!). Nineteen Red Ravens 5th Company "Phantom Sentinels" The Chapter's Fifth Company, the Nineteen Red Ravens, is the vigilant heart of the Chapter - a unit that wakes up where others sleep. Their primary focus is battlefield reconnaissance, key target detection, and elimination of infiltration threats. The core of the company is made up of Tactical and Devastator Squads, supported by light Assault units in the scouting role. On the battlefield, they act as a "shadow command," coordinating strikes from other companies, analyzing enemy weaknesses, and ensuring balance in the Chapter's operational strategy. Company Oath: „We walk in the shadows, we decide in blood, we remain in memory." Basic description The Chapter’s Fifth Company Phantom Sentinels of the Nineteen Red Ravens, is the vigilant heart of the Chapter—a unit that wakes up where others sleep. Their primary focus is battlefield reconnaissance and the detection of key targets and enemies. They also specialize in controlling and eliminating enemy infiltration efforts. Each member of the company is trained not only to attack, but above all to detect—their training includes a detailed study of alien species tactics, signal coding, and psychological sabotage methods. In battle, they act as invisible sentinels, watching the shadows and discerning what lies within. While other companies prepare to strike, Fifth Company maps the terrain, analyzes communications, and determines where to strike so that the Chapter’s strength is not lost in the chaos. In the field, Fifth Company is divided into three tactical circles—reconnaissance, retaliation, and protection. The first is formed by light infiltration units, the Assault Squad, which move ahead of the main forces and reveal the positions of saboteurs and snipers. The retaliatory units then form the core of the company – Tactical Squads and Devastator Squads, which, thanks to their accuracy, eliminate detected targets. In the case of a direct clash or penetration into densely defended areas, Centurion Assault Squads, adapted for heavy combat in closed spaces, are deployed as another option. These black-armored colossi act as mobile walls and at the same time as a tool for a decisive counterattack that can break through fortified lines. Within the chapter, the Fifth Company plays an irreplaceable role in coordinating strategic defense and tactical surveillance. During major campaigns, the Fifth Company acts as a “shadow command” — in real time, it provides the captains of other companies with information about the weaknesses of enemy combat formations. It is their ability to perceive details and coordinate reactions that makes the Nineteen Red Ravens a force that never attacks blindly. Within the Chapter, the Fifth Company serves as the watchdog for tactical balance. Every deployment by other companies is scrutinized and evaluated, and they are the ones who assess weaknesses and devise new countermeasures. Under the command of the Phantom Master of the Marches, Captain Gerus Mahal, they have also become the backbone of the Chapter’s strategic intelligence—monitoring warp anomalies, tracking enemy fleets, and mapping unstable sectors. Their presence is silent but indispensable; they are the eyes and ears of the Chapter. Their marines are known for their calm precision and unwavering discipline, which they cultivate even off the battlefield. While other companies train for attack, they practice patience—observing, recognizing, and waiting for the one moment when silence can be a weapon. For the Fifth Company, war is a game of timing: whoever sees the shadow move first, wins. Squads Strike Cruiser for deployment of 5h Company Captain: Gerus Mahal “Solid Rock” Second Phantom Master of the Marches, Captain of the 5th Company. Gerus Mahal comes from the Norell tribe, a people living on the border of the swamps and forested mountain passes of Guranion 12. Even before he was accepted into the Astartes, he was known as the Computer of the Stars, a young hunter with a prodigious memory and the ability to accurately memorize even the most complex hunting routes and clan chronicles. After entering training, he showed absolute accuracy in assessing situations and an exceptional ability to think tactically on a unit scale. He was not the loudest or most aggressive of the brothers, but he was infallible. Gerus could determine exactly when to attack, when to wait, and when to withdraw a unit to win tomorrow. His precision and analytical mind earned him the nickname Solid Rock. In combat, he earned a reputation as a man who "sees what others are yet to discover." Even as a regular Marine, he kept records of ammunition consumption, fatigue levels, and force rotation, and often predicted the course of battles with an accuracy that even an auspex could not. Thanks to his abilities, he rose through the ranks very quickly, and after two centuries of service in the 5th Company, he was chosen as the new Phantom Master of the Marches, after the first Master, Kael Dureth, fell in 173.M40 during the "Fall of Black Dust" campaign on the desert planet Keiavalorn. Mahal has since led the operational planning of the entire Chapter. Few know the location and strength of individual companies as closely as he does - his mind is considered a tool more accurate than the strategic data of the fleet. In campaigns, he is not just an officer, but the voice of balance, telling the Chapter Master how deep he can dig his claws into the war. Duties as Captain: He is a key figure in the strategic planning and logistical deployment of the Nineteen Red Ravens Chapter. He oversees the operational deployment of all companies, monitors the progress of campaigns, and maintains extensive tactical records and reports on unit status, supplies, and casualties. His primary role is to ensure that the right forces are deployed in the right place, at the right time, and with the right support in any conflict. When the Chapter Master is considering a major campaign, it is Mahal who provides him with an accurate map of capabilities, standby forces, and realistic options, including reserves, replenishment, and planned movements. His overview of the Chapter's dispositions is considered impeccable - like a living shadow that knows where the ravens have flown. Notable Campaigns "Fall of Black Dust" (173. M40) Notable Space Marines Kael Dureth (KIA) First Phantom Master of the Marches, Captain of the 5. Company. - Positions in chapter Nineteen Red Ravens. Kael Dureth was one of the eldest sons of Lycaeus, the original home of Corvus Corax. He was a member of the first generation of legionaries of the XIX Legion, personally formed by the Primarch himself. Dureth was a symbol of discipline, patience, and deep tactical thinking. During the Great Crusade, he served as an instructor for new companies, teaching them the art of infiltration and movement in silence. During the massacre of Istvan V, he commanded part of the 45th Company, leading the remnants of his men through the burning plains and rubble until he lost contact with the main force. Even in the midst of despair, he remained calm - as he himself used to say, "A raven must not fall into the storm, it must survive it." After the Legion returned to Deliverance, Kael volunteered for a mission aboard the Silent Omen. He believed that returning to Istvan was not madness, but a moral duty – to understand what had become of their brothers and find those who might have survived. After returning to reality and founding the Shadow Fears unit, Dureth was one of the candidates for supreme command. He was eventually appointed its tactical master. He felt that the burden of supreme command should be taken by someone else, he felt like a mentor to his younger brothers. His methods became the basic doctrine of the unit – silent advance, precision, strike without emotion. When the Nineteen Red Ravens Chapter was founded, Dureth was rightfully promoted to the rank of Phantom Master of the Marches and became captain of the 5th Company. He fell in M40.173 during the "Black Dust Fall" Campaign on the desert planet Keiavalorn, where he led his company against the raiders of demonic forces from the warp. The battle lasted three days without a break, and Dureth was on the front lines until the end—not for glory, but because he refused to abandon his wounded brothers in the ruins of the defensive wall. When he was found, he was still clutching his bolter and holding the shattered helmet of one of his fallen men. He died as he had lived—silently, in the dust, among those he had led. His body was left in the desert dust, and his belongings buried in the crypts on Guranion 12, with his last words engraved on his tombstone: “A raven must not forget where its shadow falls.” Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/388011-ia-nineteen-red-ravens-raven-guard-successor/page/2/#findComment-6185989 Share on other sites
Wookiee2122
Today take a look at the 6th company of the Nineteen Red Ravens chapter.I'd be extremely grateful for any of your opinions, comments, and constructive criticism (C&C welcome!). Nineteen Red Ravens 6th Company "Oathbound Shadows" The Sixth Company of the Nineteen Red Ravenss Chapter named Oathbound Shadows carries out its own independent missions, but is also a reserve company. But it also represents the Chapter’s silent but relentless force – a hidden blade that strikes where justice must be done without witnesses. In the spirit of the Corax legacy, it specializes in suppressing tyranny, heretical cults and traitors to the Empire, often operating on enslaved or corrupted worlds where open campaigning fails. Made up of ten self-sufficient Tactical Squads, it operates independently and systematically dismantles the structures of power – infiltration, deception, precision strikes and silence after battle are its hallmarks. Under the command of the Phantom Master of the Rites, Captain Andar Taxus, the company can also help oversee the honor and rituals of the Chapter, over the oaths of battle and remind us that blood without faith is empty – and shadow without honor turns to darkness. Company Oath „With our will we will break the chains, with our strength we will suffocate corruption — our shadow will execute justice." Basic description The Sixth Company of the Nineteen Red Ravens represents the Chapter’s silent yet relentless force – its hidden blade, striking where justice must be done without witnesses. In the spirit of Corax’s legacy, they specialize in suppressing tyranny, heretical cults, and rebellions that threaten the balance of the Imperium. Their presence is often sought in areas where open campaigning fails – on enslaved worlds, in sectors corrupted by government, or where treachery thrives in the shadows. The Company’s tactics combine logistical precision with surgical brutality: first they infiltrate power structures, map their enemies, and weave a web of disinformation – before striking with a precision that leaves no room for error or escape. The Sixth Company often acts as the silent enforcers of the Chapter’s will. Where other companies bear the hallmarks of heroism, the Sixth Company bears the stigma of the unseen enforcer. They are the ones who descend into cult-controlled cities, infiltrate the boards of corrupt governors, or crush rebellions before they are even born. In campaigns against the Chaos warriors and traitors of Istvaan, their interventions are seen as cathartic acts of revenge—spiritual payback for past betrayals. When the 6th Company moves into battle, they leave nothing but silence and ash in their wake; their attacks are not bursts of fury but methodical disintegration of the enemy structure until the entire regime collapses under its own weight. On the battlefield, the 6th Company operates in a tightly organized yet discreet structure, composed entirely of ten Tactical Squads. Each Squad is self-sufficient and capable of operating independently for months, equipped for infiltration, sabotage, and direct action. During campaigns, the squads are divided into smaller strike cells that operate independently, coordinating their strikes through coded vox ciphers and signaling rituals. Where other units attack with heavy equipment, the 6th Company relies on precision, timing, and environmental control - its marines become an invisible force that first breaks down the chain of command, cuts off supply lines, and then strikes. Each attack is conducted with surgical precision, leaving nothing to question the purity of the target. For the Nineteen Red Ravens, the 6th Company embodies the ideal of vengeance against the forces of the traitorous Legions of Chaos - a force that punishes silently and dispenses justice before anyone can even ask for it. Under the command of the Phantom Master of the Rites, Captain Andar Taxus, within the Nineteen Red Ravens Chapter, the members of the 6th Company assist their captain in overseeing the observance of battle oaths and rituals. They can assist in overseeing funerals, oaths, and the renewal of honor symbols. The 6th Company is a kind of moral guard of the chapter - in times of doubt, it reminds us that blood and faith are inseparable, and that a shadow without honor becomes mere darkness. Squads Strike Cruiser for deployment of 6h Company Captain Andar Taxus Second Phantom Master of the Rites, Captain of the 6th Company. He comes from the tribal region of the lower steppes of Guranion 12, a people for whom the words of their ancestors were as important as the blade. He was selected as a young man for his physical prowess but also for his exceptional memory, his ability to listen and pass on stories with precision and passion. After his acceptance into the Astartes, he showed a strong sense of the spiritual side of service - and was sent to train as a Chaplain Novitiate. His preaching voice grew stronger, as did his devotion to the codes and the memory of the dead. Yet, a fighting spirit also smoldered within him, and instead of being ordained as a chaplain, he requested a transfer back to the front lines - on the grounds that memory is not only in songs, but also in blood shed in the right direction. He gradually served as a battle brother, later as a veteran he demonstrated many excellent fighting skills, but with an emphasis on observing ceremonies, airborne litanies and battle oaths. It was he who volunteered to prepare the bodies of his fallen brothers and perform their memorial rituals, even though it was not his duty. His combination of spiritual discipline, organizational skills, and a sense of war and command led him to be chosen as the next captain of the 6th Company after the first captain, Taler Nyn, died in 277 M40 in the "Battle of Eclisian Gate". As Phantom Master of the Rites, Taxus became the embodiment of the bridge between ritual and reality - a man who understood that faith must not only be felt, but also acted upon. Duties as Captain: He is responsible for the leadership, supervision, and preservation of all ceremonies, oaths, and rituals of the Nineteen Red Ravens Chapter. He ensures that the spiritual traditions of the Chapter are observed not only in accordance with the teachings of the Imperium, but also with its own customs dating back to the XIXth century. The Legion, the Raven Guard, and the traditions of Guranion 12. He works closely with the Reclusiarchs, librarians, and company commanders to ensure that every airborne oath, brother initiation, or burial of the fallen is conducted with dignity and according to the chapter code. He oversees the preservation of sacred texts, battle litanies, and songs of remembrance - and is the one who reminds the brothers in difficult times who they are, where they come from, and why they fight. Notable Campaigns Battle of Eclisian Gate (277.M40) Escape from Space Hulk Eclipse of Doom (412.M40): The 6th Company of the Nineteen Red Ravens Chapter, under the command of their Captain Daryn Kol, is sent to the Hesiskar Prime system to escort a convoy of Adeptus Mechanics supply ships. The mission goes awry when a massive Space Hulk, the Eclipse of Doom, emerges from the warp and appears directly in the convoy's path. During an emergency maneuver, the Strike Cruiser Silent Fenix suffers critical damage and Kol orders an emergency landing on one of the Space Hulk's stable sections. Shortly after landing, however, it becomes clear that the hulk is not dead - its corridors are inhabited by the mutated remnants of the World Eaters, who have turned into bloodthirsty monsters after millennia. The escort mission becomes a battle for survival. Daryn Kol immediately organizes defenses and divides the brothers into sectors to hold their positions as long as possible. The fighting lasted six days before the company was surrounded. Kol decided to stay with most of his command squad and cover the retreat of the last survivors. In the meantime, a small platoon of 6th Company sabotaged the wreck's reactor core, triggering the self-destruction of the entire Space Hulk. Only seventeen brothers escaped, carrying their captains' sealing wax and the memory of their brave captain, who fell with both judgment and honor. In his honor, the brothers of 6th Company have since recited an oath known as Kol's Formula: "Where logic fails, let reason prevail. Where reason falls, let honor stand." Notable Space Marines Taler Nyn (KIA) The first Phantom Master of the Rites. Captain of the 6. Company - Positions in chapter Nineteen Red Ravens. Taler Nyn was from the 111th Company of the XIXth Legion - a warrior whose faith was as strong as the steel of his bolter. Even before the massacre on Istvan, he was known for his unwavering belief that the Emperor and Corax were not just leaders, but ideals that must be protected even at the cost of his own life. He was more of a silent man, proving his faith through actions rather than words. On Istvaan V, he fought alongside his brothers until the very last moments, when the Legion's retreat turned into survival beyond human limits. The loss of friends and the witness of betrayal left a deep mark on him - his faith became both an anchor and a burden as he searched in the darkness of Istvaan V for answers. Why the Emperor had allowed their blood to stain the black clay. After the Silent Omen mission and his return from the Warp, Taler was one of the first to join the newly formed Shadow Fears. His belief in Corax as a symbol of rebirth after betrayal earned him the respect of all his brothers. He served alongside Chaplain Meron Fal as his silent assistant—a man who led prayers for the fallen, kept the names of the lost, and reminded them that every bolter strike was meant to sound like a confession. He never accepted the role of chaplain, knowing that he was not as skilled with words as his other brothers. When the Nineteen Red Ravens Chapter was founded, Taler Nyn was appointed the first Phantom Master of the Rites, captain of the 6th Company. Under his command, the company became a symbol of both spiritual and military discipline—brothers who fought with cold devotion, reciting prayers for the fallen before they fired the first shot. Taler died in M40.277 in the "Battle of Eclisian Gate" on the border of the Myrienien subsector, while his company held off an army of cultists and demons until civilians were evacuated. The last words his brothers heard over the vox were: "Faith is not a word. Faith is stepping forward, even when you know you will fall." Meron Fal (KIA) Chaplain, member of Command Squad 6. Company - Positions in chapter Nineteen Red Ravens. Meron Fal hailed from the 118th Company of the XIX. On Isstvan V, he led a small band of brothers who protected the wounded during the retreat of Corax's advance. His voice, quiet and sure even amidst the fire and ash, could calm the last remnants of panic and melt it into holy anger. Fal was not a preacher to large gatherings—he was a spiritual warrior, walking in the mud and blood alongside his brothers to remind them that even in the shadows, the Emperor's flame remained. Upon his return to Deliverance, he volunteered for the Silent Omen mission not out of duty, but out of faith. He argued that the souls of the fallen of Istvan could find no peace until their brothers returned to the place of their doom. Aboard the ship, he served as both a spiritual guide and moral anchor—he often spoke of the "loud silence of the Warp" he perceived in his prayers. When the Silent Omen disappeared into the abyss of a time anomaly, Fal became one of the few who kept the crew sane and confident in their return. His sermons became the basis for several later Chapter litanies. After returning from the Warp, he served in the Shadow Fears, and after the founding of the Nineteen Red Ravens, he accepted the role of Chaplain to the 6th Company, accompanying Captain Daryn Kol on many campaigns. His faith became the glue that held his brothers together even in the face of the madness of war. He died in M40.412 aboard the Space Hulk Eclipse of Doom, while covering the retreat of the rest of the 6th Company with Librarian Corvath Nel. His last words, captured in the ether, were: "There is no fear in the darkness, only the echo of the Emperor's breath." Corvath Nel (KIA) Librarian, member of Command Squad 6. Company - Positions in chapter Nineteen Red Ravens. Corvath Nel remained with his brothers and later became one of the 33 founders of the Shadow Fears. Even after the founding of the Nineteen Red Ravens Chapter, he was revered as a mystic whose knowledge of the Warp surpassed even some of the Inquisitors of the Ordo Hereticus. He died in the year M40.412 aboard the Space Hulk Eclipse of Doom while attempting to seal a warp rift that had opened in one of the sections of the destroyed wreck. Before his death, he sealed the minds of all 17 of his surviving brothers to protect them from madness. After the Space Hulk exploded, his voice was said to whisper in the ether for days, "The shadows are silent... because they are listening." Wookiee2122
Today take a look at the 7th company of the Nineteen Red Ravens chapter.I'd be extremely grateful for any of your opinions, comments, and constructive criticism (C&C welcome!). Nineteen Red Ravens 7th Company "Phantom Runners" 7th company Nineteen Red Ravens Phantom Runners, serves as a reserve unit but also specializes in its own missions. It represents the perfect balance between strike and supply - a mobile force that destroys enemy logistics while securing its own. It specializes in "strike and retreat" tactics, rapid raids aimed at supply lines, depots and command nodes, the destruction of which cripples entire armies. Land Speeders, light transports and airborne units operate with precision and speed that leaves the enemy confused and isolated. In times of campaign, the company functions as the living heartbeat of the Chapter - supplying front-line units, coordinating fleet transports and simultaneously carrying out surgical strikes against enemy convoys. Under the command of Phantom Chief Victueller Ravar Sivax, it has become an indispensable force - invisible, precise and irreplaceable, because without it the Chapter could neither fight nor survive. Company Oath „ We run in shadows, and none shall escape!" Basic description The 7th Company deploys all their might in hit-and-run tactics—quick, precisely targeted attacks with one goal: to break the enemy’s backbone by stripping them of what keeps them fighting. They strike at supply convoys, depots, and logistical hubs with surgical precision; each strike is planned to cause maximum disruption to supply chains and force the enemy to shift forces to where it is most disadvantageous. Their strikes are not about brute force—they are about timing, surprise, and taking full advantage of the moment when the defenses are most vulnerable. When the Phantom Runners strike, movement is their greatest weapon. The 7th Company, consisting of ten Tactical Squads, maneuvers with a speed and ease that surprises even experienced command staffs — Land Speeders, light transports, and airborne teams form a column that strikes from an unexpected direction, completes the task in minutes, and disappears before the enemy can call for support. This mobility allows them to operate in multiple combat zones simultaneously: while one group cuts off the supply line, another delivers a crushing blow to the command node, and the third covers the retreat. Flexibility and rapid regrouping reduce the risk of losses and make it impossible for the enemy to react effectively. At times during war campaigns, when the entire chapter is in the fight, the duality of the 7th Company's role — being both the chapter's supply backbone and its knife against enemy logistics — is manifested in combat as a strategic advantage. They can supply their own formations in the field and destroy enemy supplies at the same time; their operations often change the pace of the campaign. Where other units focus on frontal engagements, the 7th Company works in bands behind the lines: cutting off incoming reinforcements, cutting off retreat routes, and turning a well-supplied enemy into a rapidly disintegrating mass that loses its initiative—and ultimately its will to fight. Under the command of Phantom Chief Victueller Ravar Sivax, the 7th Company is responsible for the lifeblood of the Chapter—supply. Their mission goes beyond simply resupplying; they ensure that each brother has everything they need for battle and recovery—from ammunition and equipment to fleet fuel to food and water for human support personnel. Sivax and his officers oversee the Chapter's strict accounting protocols, transport routes, and warehouses, spread across orbital docks and fortresses on Guranion 12. During a campaign, the Seventh Company ensures the smooth movement of supplies to the front lines, coordinates battleship traffic flows, and serves as a liaison between the fleet's logistics sections and front-line units. Their work is quiet and unassuming, but without them, no Nineteen Red Ravens dropship would ever go to war. Squads Strike Cruiser for deployment of 7h Company Captain Ravar Sivax Phantom Chief Victualler, Captain of the 7th Company. Ravar Sivax hails from the rocky Zabvran Ridges of Guranion 12, where his clan has protected the mountain passes and trails for generations. From a young age, he excelled in meticulousness, organization, and a sense of responsibility—qualities he carried into his Astartes training. After being accepted into the Nineteen Red Ravens Chapter, he served for many years as a tactical marine, excelling in precision, tactical discipline, and the ability to plan in depth and over long distances. His command in the field was exemplary—he knew how to adapt to the terrain, maintain unit morale, and minimize casualties. His brothers said he always knew how many bullets were left in his magazine. His attention to detail and organization proved invaluable off the front lines, with Ravar keeping records of weapons, supplies and makeshift storage arrangements for his platoon comrades during a large-scale campaign on the edge of the Varkol sector. In 468.M40, during the "Battle of Morers Point", Relas Orven, the first captain of the 7th Company, died. After another battle, in which he managed to keep four squads running for weeks without support, Sivax was appointed the next captain of the 7th Company. His promotion was not only a recognition of his fighting qualities, but also of his strategic thinking and ability to manage the Chapter's logistics with surgical precision. As Phantom Chief Victualler, he embodies the balance between blade and magazine - a man who knows that hungry Astartes will not defeat even a weak enemy. Duties as Captain: Responsible for the comprehensive logistics support of the Nineteen Red Ravens Chapter, with an emphasis on supplying not only combat units but also support personnel and infrastructure. He is responsible for managing the supply of food, water, medical supplies, clothing, and all the necessities for the daily running of the Chapter – from the fortress monastery to the fleet. He coordinates warehouses, supply routes, and the management of servitors and serfs, ensuring that each Battlebrother has everything he needs to fulfill his service in times of peace and war. His role is especially crucial in long campaigns, when the right timing and distribution of supplies can be as decisive as the blade. Notable Campaigns "Battle for Morers Point" (468.M40) Notable Space Marines Relas Orven (KIA) First Phantom Chief Victualler, Captain of the 7. Company - Positions in chapter Nineteen Red Ravens. Relas Orven came from the 51st Company of the XIX Legion and was among those Astartes who could transform the chaos of battle into the harmony of order. He was an exceptional tactician and coordinator—his mind functioning like a living network, able to connect even the most distant units in the inferno of fire. During the massacre on Istvan V, he managed to maintain communication between three scattered squads for several hours, despite interference, energy surges, and radioactive dust that destroyed most of the radios. It was then that he became known among his brothers as the “Loud Silence”—a man who was silent but could transmit hope through the noise of the signal. Aboard the Silent Omen, he took charge of the ship’s communications and sensory systems. His calm authority and analytical mind made him the backbone of the entire expedition. He perceived every signal interruption, every deviation from course, every noise in the vox network as a warning - technical, but also spiritual. He claimed that "in the silence of the machine the spirit of war speaks". It was thanks to him that the Thunderhawk was found in orbit around Instvaan 5, with 22 surviving Brothers on board. After returning from the Warp and being integrated into the Shadow Fears unit, he worked as an intelligence and communications officer. He led operations during which the unit learned to fight in complete isolation, without support, with only guesswork and intuition - because that, he used to say, is the true nature of a raven. After the founding of the Nineteen Red Ravens Chapter, he was appointed Phantom Chief Victualler and Captain of the 7th Company, where he was responsible for the supply, logistics and communications chains of the entire chapter. He was precise, strict and almost obsessively meticulous - all the records of his company were kept with such consistency that they served as a model for others. He died in M40.468 during the "Battle for Morers Point" campaign, where 7th Company was tasked with resupplying other units. 7th Company's flagship, the "Ravens Memory," was the target of a surprise attack by World Eaters ships hidden in the debris of an orbital ring. Orven personally took command of the ship's defenses and led a counterattack for three hours under constant fire. When it became clear that the ship would not survive, he ordered the evacuation of the crew and all the Brothers. He ordered a collision course - destroying the enemy's flagship with a head-on collision, opening the way for the main Chapter forces. The last entry from his vox channel reads: "The resupply will not stop. As long as the raven breathes, or until the wings break." Wookiee2122
Today take a look at the 8th company of the Nineteen Red Ravens chapter.I'd be extremely grateful for any of your opinions, comments, and constructive criticism (C&C welcome!). Nineteen Red Ravens 8th Company "Ashen Talons" The Eighth Company Nineteen Red Ravens, known as the Ashen Talons, serves as a base company, but also carries out its own independent missions. Within the Chapter, it embodies the very essence of the Chapter’s offensive spirit – a fast, ruthless, and elusive force that strikes before the enemy even realizes what is happening. Its ten Assault Squads fight with lightning-fast precision, using jump drops, ambushes, and aerial maneuvers to break enemy lines and eliminate key targets. Each drop is perfectly timed – the first wave disrupts the defenses, the second destroys them. Dreadnoughts provide support and cover fire for the assault teams, while veterans and sergeants ensure perfect coordination between units. Under the command of Phantom Lord Executioner Lykir Vaan, Eighth Company is the embodiment of the wrath of the Nineteen Red Ravens – the first to descend from the skies and the last to leave the battlefield. Company Oath "Like Phantoms from the sky we fall, in the blood of our enemies we rise." Basic description The Ashen Talons, the Chapter's eighth company, represent the very essence of the offensive spirit—fast, ruthless, and elusive. In the spirit of the legacy of Corax and the wrath of Istvaan, they fight with lightning precision, relying on the moment of surprise and the purity of close combat. Their style is fierce yet disciplined—dropping from the sky, striking from above, and cutting down the enemy before they even realize what is happening. The jump units of the 8th Company master the art of sudden action; combining attacks conducted from the shadows with the brute force of attackers who plunge into the most dangerous interior areas of the battlefield to break resistance before it can even form. In the field, the 8th Company forms the pinnacle of the Chapter's offensive operations. Its ten Assault Squads operate in close coordination—some units specializing in breaching defenses and assaulting command positions. Others act as cover units capable of rapid maneuver. Or others that surround and isolate the target. Each assault is conducted with surgical precision, with the first wave of attackers striking with maximum force and the second completing the sweep. Dreadnoughts serve as anchors for these sorties, entering the battle like steel shadows that provide the assault teams with support and firepower to retreat, or can act as decoys to confuse the enemy. Eighth Company is known for its relentless pace—often fighting for days, with minimal rest, until the mission is accomplished. To the Nineteen Red Ravens, Eighth Company is the embodiment of revenge in its purest, most aggressive form. Where others seek a plan, they seek a goal. They are the harbingers of the Chapter's wrath—the first to descend from the sky and the last to leave the field. For them, each assault is a ritual in which they shed not only the blood of their enemies, but also symbolically cleanse the sins of Istvaan. They believe that speed and courage are expressions of faith, and that death on the move is more dignified than waiting for orders. Within the Nineteen Red Ravens Chapter, the 8th Company forms the core of all assault and airborne forces, whose command is entrusted to experienced veterans and sergeants under the direct supervision of Captain Lykir Vaan. These officers are responsible for coordinating the training of the assault units, overseeing discipline during the landings, and maintaining perfect synchronization between each Assault Squad. Each sergeant is responsible not only for the combat leadership of his men, but also for constantly improving their reflexes, speed, and accuracy. The veterans then serve as instructors and advisors in the preparation of new Assault Squads. Captain Vaan personally oversees the selection of commanders, the inspection of equipment, and the planning of airborne strategies, with his decisions determining where and when the "raven's wrath" descends from the sky. Squads Strike Cruiser for deployment of 8h Company Captain Lykir Vaan (22nd surviving Astartes) Phantom Lord Executioner Captain of the 8th Company He was originally a member of the Dark Fury unit of the 81st Company of the XIXth Legion, where he excelled as a ruthless close combat fighter and master of ambushes. On Istvaan V, he became a terror to traitors - undertaking daring raids, distracting them and protecting his brothers' hideouts. After returning from the Warp, he served in the Shadow Fears unit as a sergeant, renowned for his tirelessness and unwavering spirit. Lykir Vaan during the Horus Heresy Lykir Vaan became one of the Chapter's greatest heroes when, in 749.M39, he defended the gene-vaults aboard the Silent Omen against an assault by the Chaos Lord Brull and his warband during the "Pureblood Protection" mission. Duties as Captain: Lykir Vaan has full responsibility for the training of all specialized assault units of the Nineteen Red Ravens Chapter. His job is to ensure that every battlebrother in the company is proficient in Jump Pack management, close quarters combat, and rapid elimination of key targets. Lykir oversees the condition and selection of close combat equipment. During the Chapter's campaign, he often personally plans airborne maneuvers and directs the direction of the strike where brutal breakthrough force is needed. He also serves as a model of pride and combat courage for others. Lykir Vaan's legacy: Red Wings of Fury Description: The Red Wings of Fury originate from the heraldry of the elite Dark Fury assault units of the Great Crusade and the Horus Heresy. Originally, they were white wings placed on the shoulder pads of members of this prestigious Raven Guard formation, symbolizing speed, deadly precision and the ability to strike from an unexpected direction. The Nineteen Red Ravens Chapter has maintained this tradition, but the original white color has been replaced with a deep red. Thus, the wings remained a reference to the ancient warriors of the XIX Legion, but at the same time gained new meaning associated with the history of the Chapter itself. Meaning: The red color of the wings commemorates the event known as the Pureblood Protection:, during which veteran Lykir Vaan defended the genetic vaults aboard the Silent Omen from an attack by Chaos Lord Brull and his warband. When he was found among the bodies of his fallen enemies after the fighting ended, his originally white Dark Fury wings were completely covered in blood - the blood of his own wounds and the blood of the enemies he had killed while defending the geneseed. For the brothers of the Shadow Fears, this image became a symbol of sacrifice, determination, and the price that had to be paid for the survival of the future chapter. The red wings therefore represent not only a memorial to Lykir Vaan, but also a reminder that the future of the Nineteen Red Ravens was bought with the blood of their brothers. Use and Placement: In honor of Lykir Vaan, the red wings are part of the equipment of every Nineteen Red Ravens battle brother. They are placed on both shoulder pads of the battle armor, where they form one of the most prominent elements of the chapter's heraldry. Their wearing is not considered a decoration or a rank insignia, but a collective tribute to all who contributed to the survival of the chapter. Each newly initiated Astartes is introduced to the story of the Pureblood Protection upon acceptance into full brotherhood, so that they may understand the significance of the wings they will bear for the rest of their service to the Emperor and the Chapter. Notable Campaigns Blood at Gate 456 (723.M40) P.S.: However, the "Protection of Pure Blood" mission and the character Lyrik Van are pivotal to the history and heraldry of the Chapter of the Nineteen Red Ravens. As a reminder: I have already prepared the "Protection of Pure Blood" mission as a separate, more detailed text, which I published earlier on page 1. I am also considering writing a more extensive piece on Lyrik Van — though that is still a work in progress. But first, I want to finish the series dedicated to all ten companies. Even after that series is complete, there are plenty of other topics left to cover—such as recruiting new members... allies..., and so on. We shall see what comes next :) Edited September 13 by Wookiee2122 Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/388011-ia-nineteen-red-ravens-raven-guard-successor/page/2/#findComment-6186655 Share on other sites
Bloodwraith
I think at this point you have a full blown Codex here! You should consider printing it and keeping a copy with you. It’s pretty epic. Necca34
@Bloodwraith, agreed. @Wookiee2122, I saw someone once printed their own Codex using Shutterfly. Seriously - this is exceptional! Wookiee2122
@Necca34 @Bloodwraith Thanks, brothers. Your feedback really made my day. I’m a graphic designer, and I work for a book publisher in my home country. I have extensive experience preparing text and books for print and publication. So, creating my own Codex isn't a technical issue for me. There’s already plenty of text available, as well as enough reference images. However, I lack the kind of striking artwork found in the official codexes. I could draw them myself—since I do have the artistic skills—but I simply don't have the time or energy for it. I’ll admit I’ve tried using AI to generate images a few times. But in my opinion, AI struggles to generate W40k-style images of Space Marines in Mk6 armor. Or maybe I just don't know how to write the right promp I also don't have many photos of actual miniatures yet. So far, I’ve only finished 13 miniatures for Kill Team and a couple of Dreadnoughts. Wookiee2122
@Bloodwraith I see... You Have a nice art. I’ve tried a lot of AI tools. It seems that since Primaris have been at the forefront in recent years, the AI struggles to generate Firstborn armor. None of the AIs have managed to generate clean, accurate Mark 6 armor for me... They can handle Mk7 armor reasonably well—albeit with minor flaws—but not Mk6. I don't know if I'm using the wrong prompts, but so far, I haven't succeeded. Find 3-4 really good existing artworks of MKVI Armor, even official ones. then for prompt i always put USE IMG1 for refrence (or whatever number the image is as uploaded) or USE IMG1, IMG2, IMG3 etc.. as reference, create Space Marine in MKVI armor, then go into details of the armor color logos etc.... if you have a logo upload that as its own image and prompt it to ad IMG4 to shoulderpads. The important thing is to direct the AI to established reference images and more than one. Also to ensure it doesnt just duplicate the image, give an action like, have the maring running and shooting the bolter...etc. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/388011-ia-nineteen-red-ravens-raven-guard-successor/page/2/#findComment-6186953 Share on other sites
Bloodwraith
You could also use some of the artwork you are already using, then have AI use it as refrence and give it a prompt to redo the image in a John Blanche Grimdark art style, or in a dark anime grimdark art style or 1234 art style etc.. Wookiee2122
@Bloodwraith Thanks. I’ve actually tried that method in the past, too. But the AI still had trouble with MK6. Maybe I confused it with a bad prompt. Wookiee2122
Today take a look at the 9th company of the Nineteen Red Ravens chapter.I'd be extremely grateful for any of your opinions, comments, and constructive criticism (C&C welcome!). Nineteen Red Ravens 9th Company "Iron Mirages" The Ninth Company of Nineteen Red Ravens, known as the Iron Mirages, is the Chapter's reserve fire support force - silent, precise and relentless instruments of the shadow. Their brothers operate in small formations called Mirages, where the Devastators work alongside Dreadnoughts, revered as the calm hearts of command and memory. Their fighting style is inspired by the Nineteenth Legion's doctrine of silent fire: they use camouflage, sound reflections and deceptive signals to strike without warning and disappear before the enemy can respond. In peacetime, they act as the custodians of the Chapter's technological heritage - under the command of Phantom Master Zhaed Morn, they care for relics, weapons and data, instruct their younger brothers in the art of precision and keep the firepower of the Red Ravens ready for the perfect strike. Company Oath „ In silence I hold my weapon; the shadow will show the target, my shot will execute judgment." Basic description The Ninth Company, known as the Iron Mirages, is the Chapter's reserve fire support force - a silent yet relentless instrument that intervenes where it is necessary to reshape the battle to the will of the Shadow. Its brothers are masters of patience and long-term coordination; they wait in ambush while other companies conduct infiltration attacks, striking at precisely the moment when the enemy is most weakened or confused. Their strike is never accidental - it is the result of calculation, deception, and perfect timing. The Company operates in formations called Mirages, small tactical units combining Devastators with one or more Dreadnoughts. The Iron Wraiths revere their Dreadnoughts as the heavy hearts of the company and spiritual pillars of discipline and history. The Dreadnought does not act as a simple battering ram, but acts as a calm, command center that analyzes the situation and transmits instructions through silent data transmissions and light pulse markings. The entire “Mirage” thus functions as a single machine – silently, precisely, without words. When the Dreadnought stops and its sensors lock onto a target, the fire is launched in complete unison, without warning or prior noise. This style of combat is based on the doctrine of silent fire, an old custom taken from the legions of the 19th Legion. The Iron Mire Devastators never attack from positions that give away their presence; they rely on camouflage, manipulation of acoustic reflections, and set “false voices” – mechanical sounds designed to confuse enemy sensors. When the enemy searches for the source of the fire, the 9th Company has long since quickly changed positions, leaving behind only the echo of metal and smoke. There is no anger in their stance, only cold certainty. The brothers of the Ninth Company believe that the most accomplished marksman is the one whose shot is unheard. They do not shout the oath of the Iron Phantoms, but carry it in their minds—a silent commitment between them and the weapons they guard. For them, each shot is a liturgy of purification, each hit a return to balance. They are unseen, unheard on the battlefield—and yet their presence can change the course of an entire battle. When the Chapter is not fighting, the Ninth Company stands as guardians of the Chapter’s technological heritage—working with the Ves to care for the weapons, targeting systems, relics, and ballistic data without which the other companies could not wage precise infiltration wars. Under the command of Phantom Master Zhaed Morn, one of the survivors of Istvaan, the company acts as an invisible pillar of the armories and shooting classrooms. Morn oversees the calibration of heavy weapons, the archiving of firepower records, and the training of his younger brothers in the art of precision, which he considers a prayer in material form. The Iron Mimic Devastators spend months in isolated firing ranges deep beneath Guranion 12, tuning their weapons, recording missile trajectories, and practicing coordination with Dreadnoughts in simulated engagements. When the Chapter descends into war, their activities change—but their discipline, learned in silence and metal, remains unchanged. Squads Strike Cruiser for deployment of 9th Company Captain Zhaed Morn (Surviving 22nd Astartes) Phantom Master of Relics. Captain of the 9th Company. An original Astartes from the 22nd group of survivors of Istvaan V, he served in the 77th Company of the XIX Legion. He was known for his unwavering tenacity and mastery of heavy weapons, earning him a reputation as a silent but deadly warrior who never backed down. After returning from the Warp, he became a veteran sergeant in the Shadow Fears unit. When the Nineteen Red Ravens Chapter was founded, Zhaed was appointed Captain of the 9th Company, specializing in heavy weapons and fire support, where his name symbolized endurance, precision, and steadfastness. Duties as Captain: He holds the key role of custodian of all heavy weapons and firepower. He is responsible for the training of Devastators across the Chapter, their discipline in the use of heavy weapons, and their deployment in fortress defense and war operations. He also oversees the maintenance and deployment of rare and master weapons. During times of war for the Chapter, it is Zhaed who often personally plans which Devastator units and weapons will be called into service. Within the Codex structure, he is responsible for Devastator doctrine and represents unwavering strength and deadly precision in the Chapter's tactics. Notable Campaigns The Dark Shadows of Nirtelenik (652.M40) Notable Space Marines Tarven Jhelt (KIA) (Surviving 22nd Astartes) Veteran Sergeant of the 9th Company - Positions in chapter Nineteen Red Ravens A veteran of the 81st Company of the XIXth Legion, Tarven Jhelt was a master of infiltration, sabotage, and the destruction of key enemy structures. He operated most often alone, silently penetrating behind enemy lines, laying charges, and crippling enemy command and logistics with devastating strikes. On Istvaan V, he played a crucial role in the survival of the hiding group. He laid traps and created decoys that delayed and decimated the pursuing traitors. After returning from the Warp, he served as a sabotage master in the Shadow Fears unit. After the founding of the Nineteen Red Ravens Chapter, he was assigned to the 9th Company Command Squad and became an instructor for the training of future saboteurs. His methods were ruthless, but extremely effective. He was killed in M40.477 during a mission against the Word Bearers. At the end of the operation, he and his two brothers sacrificed themselves in a suicide mission — they stayed with the countdown bomb to prevent it from being defused by the enemy. Wookiee2122
I Finally wrapping up this little "marathon" showcasing all 10 companies of my Chapter. Today take a look at the 10th company of the Nineteen Red Ravens chapter.I'd be extremely grateful for any of your opinions, comments, and constructive criticism (C&C welcome!). Nineteen Red Ravens 10th Company "Night Shepherds" The Tenth Companyof Nineteen Red Ravens, known as the Night Shepherds, is the Chapter's reconnaissance and training force, where the future brothers of the Nineteen Red Ravens are born. Under the leadership of Phantom Master Kaer Vorthan, the novices undergo trials of silence, learning to read the terrain, survive without support, and kill without a trace. The Night Shepherds fight like shadows—invisible, patient, and deadly. Their strikes are precise, delivered with deception and perfect timing, designed to disintegrate the enemy rather than engage in direct combat. In times of war, they are the first to enter a combat zone, sabotaging supplies, eliminating sentries, and identifying targets for heavy fire. The silence in which they learn and fight is not only a weapon, but also a prayer—an echo of the Raven and the souls of all who have fallen in its shadow. Company Oath "Silence is my guide, the shadow my brother — with them in my heart I will destroy every traitor." Basic description The Tenth Company, known as the Night Shepherds, is the Chapter’s youngest and quietest force—a scouting company that nurtures the future brothers of the Nineteen Red Ravens. These novices learn to perceive the world not through force, but through the silence that is sacred to the Chapter. They fight like shadows in the vanguard—unseen, elusive, waiting until the moment to strike is right. Their training emphasizes patience, terrain reading, and instinctive decision-making. Every movement, every breath, every step is guided by the idea that shadow and silence can be as effective a weapon as a bolter. The Night Shepherds’ combat doctrine is built on the silent decomposition of the enemy. Scout units silently creep through mists and debris, tracking a target for hours or days before striking. They often operate in tandem, with one brother providing a distraction, fooling sensors, while the other completes the task. They learn to wage war without the need for direct confrontation — eliminating leaders, disrupting communication, sowing fear and disorientation. They fight on the border between presence and invisibility, in a space where the sound of footsteps becomes a warning and silence a victory. Each mission of the Night Shepherds is also a test of faith. Novices must understand that silence is not emptiness, but a way to listen to the souls of fallen brothers. In the ruins of old battlefields, they learn to read the traces of ancient battles, to perceive the echoes of the battlefield. In the dark catacombs, infiltration situations are simulated - without light, without vox, with only trust in instinct and memory. Here, young Astartes are formed, learning that every shadow hides a lesson and that it can lead to redemption. On the battlefield, the 10th Company acts as the whispering wings of the Chapter - the first to enter the conflict zone. Their goal is not to win in direct combat, but to pave the way for the other companies. They map enemy movements, eliminate patrols, sabotage supply lines, conduct deception operations, or identify targets for heavy weapons fire. By the time the main force of the Nineteen Red Ravens moves to attack, the Night Shepherds' trail has long since faded into the dust. Where others fight in the glare of weapons, they win in silence—a silence that is the legacy of the Raven and the echo of all who have fallen in its shadow. In times of peace and war, the Tenth Company is the backbone of the Chapter's recruitment and training. Under the leadership of Phantom Master Kaer Vorthan, one of the original survivors of Istvaan. Kaer oversees the process of selecting aspirants from the clans of Guranion 12, their physical and spiritual training, and their subsequent transformation into Astartes. His firm discipline and quiet authority have given the company the character of a monastic brotherhood, where each novice is taught that silence and shadow are not weaknesses, but sources of strength and knowledge. Before donning the black armor of the Nineteen Red Ravens, all recruits must pass the trials of silence, where they learn to survive, observe, and think like a shadow. Through this activity, the Tenth Company remains an invisible network of eyes and ears for the Chapter, preparing the ground for its every strike. Squads Strike Cruiser for deployment of 9th Company Captain Kaer Vorthan (Surviving 22nd Astartes) Phantom Master of Recruits and Reconnaissance, Captain of the 10th Company. A former Astartes of the 22nd survivors of Istvaan V, he was an elite scout of the 44th Company of the XIXth Legion, renowned for his expertise in stealth, infiltration and the acquisition of valuable information on dangerous missions. He was the first to discover the downed Thunderhawk, which was crucial to the rescue of the survivors. After returning from the Warp, he became a member of the Shadow Fears unit, where he established himself as a veteran and expert in reconnaissance. After the founding of the Nineteen Red Ravens Chapter, Kaer Vorthan was appointed Captain of the 10th Company. Duties as Captain: He bears the immense responsibility of training the new recruits of the Nineteen Red Ravens Chapter and leading their youngest members on reconnaissance missions. His duties include not only preparing new recruits for the rigors of combat, but also highly specialized training in areas such as infiltration, sabotage, and survival in hostile environments. Kaer Vorthan is thus not only a commander who plans and directs strategic reconnaissance operations, but also a role model for new Astartes, who learn from his impeccable skills in silent and deadly combat. His experience and knowledge of tactics and terrain make his role essential to the Chapter, and his leadership and training of the new generation of Astartes is crucial to the future of the Nineteen Red Ravens. Notable Campaigns Three Broken Wings on Antheron (505.M40): („For the full text, see 3rd Company...“) Specters from the Depths of Fasakis's Darkness (272. He was recognized as the best sniper in his company, with a reputation for never missing. His ability to eliminate high-profile targets made him an invaluable asset to any operation he participated in. On Isstvaan V, he played a key role in the retreat of the surviving Astartes - securing their path forward and silently eliminating enemy forces before they could notice him. After being rescued and assigned to the Shadow Fears, he continued to serve as a seasoned veteran in their ranks. After the founding of the Nineteen Red Ravens Chapter, he was assigned to the Command platoon of 10th Company. He became the chief sniper instructor and mentor to the newly arrived brothers, passing on his skills and philosophy of patient, deadly calm. In his eyes, distance was just a matter of concentration. He died in M40.505 during the Battle of Antheron, while covering the retreat of his brothers and a wounded sister of the Order of the Black Lilies, from a sudden attack by the berserkers World Eaters. Wookiee2122
Hello everyone. Today, I’m bringing just a minor update to the "Apothecarion" section on "Page 2" — Specifically, I’ve added detailed information to the "Gene-seed" part. I would be incredibly grateful for any opinions, comments, or constructive criticism (feedback is welcome!). PS: Next time, I'll add a longer text—either on the topic of "Recruitment". Or text about secret project Raven Guard: Special secret unit "Shadow Fears". Unit was formed from all 33 surviving Astartes. Wookiee2122
Hello everyone. Today, I’m bringing text about secret project Raven Guard: Special secret unit "Shadow Fears". I recently realized that this text is crucial for understanding the history of the Nineteens Red Ravens chapter —and I should have included it on the first page. I apologize for the confusion. I'd be extremely grateful for any of your opinions, comments, and constructive criticism (C&C welcome!). Shadow Fears Allegiance: Imperium of Man (Fidelitas Constantus)Founding: 39th MillenniumPrimarch: Raven Guard (Corvus Corax lineage.)Leader: Seraphon Krol "Shadow Eagle"Homeworld: NoneFortress-Monastery: NoneAllies: Raven GuardSize: 33-100 The Shadow Fears were a special secret unit composed of all 33 surviving Astartes of the original XIXth Legion of the Raven Guard. Several centuries later, this unit became a chapter Nineteen Red Ravens. History The Shadow Fears unit was formed several dozen months after the unexpected return of the Silent Omen from the Warp, when 33 Astartes - veterans of the Horus Heresy - survived on board. Those who once belonged to the XIX. Legion of the Raven Guard were lost after the massacre on Istvaan V and presumed dead for more than eight millennia. After rigorous examination, genetic testing and a thorough verification of their loyalty, they were found pure and still faithful to the Emperor and the principles of Corax. Their gene-seed was declared a relic from the time of Corax. The then Chapter Master of the Raven Guard, along with the Librarian and Mechanick, decided on the need to isolate and protect this rare gene-seed. And so it was decided that these 33 marines would be deployed within the Chapter as a special unit - the Shadow Fears, which would operate secretly and independently outside the Chapter. As part of the experiment, it was decided that additional Astartes would be created for the unit from their pure gene seed, in order to eventually reach the full strength of 100 marines like the classic Company. The Strike cruiser Silent Omen, the same ship that had safely transported the 33rd Legionnaires through the warp, was chosen as their refuge and base of operations. Seraphon Krol, one of the original 22 survivors of Istvaan, became their commander, maintaining his authority and respect. His deputy was Vaedran Koror, one of the 11 Astartes who had participated in the Silent Omen mission. Under Seraphon Krol's leadership, the unit became an instrument of silent wrath - a shadow of ravenous wrath that strikes unexpectedly, strikes accurately, and then disappears like a whisper in the darkness. The Shadow Fears maintained specific rituals and an internal cohesion that even their other brothers in the Raven Guard would not understand. Their armour, still in the Mk VI Corvus pattern, was coated in a matte black. Each member carried within them fragments of memories from that ancient slaughter, believing that they had survived only to avenge their fallen brothers. The small handful of those in the Raven Guard Chapter who knew of them therefore viewed them with both respect and fear – living relics from a time when the Imperium itself was breaking in two. Their role was not ordinary. Shadow Fears were assigned to tasks that other Astartes would consider suicidal – infiltration, silent elimination, operations in unstable zones where the physical and psychic boundaries between reality and the Warp were blurred. Their operations were often conducted outside the eyes of the high command. Their deployment was at the sole discretion of the Chapter Master. The Shadow Fears were sent on missions that required a combination of precision, instinct, and unwavering loyalty. On cult-infested planets, in the ruins of lost worlds, or in the ruins of war stations where other units would not venture, they were the ones to go first. They believed that fighting in the shadows was the only way to purify their own existence. Their motto, “Through the darkness we risen.” became the unofficial motto of the entire unit. For the next hundreds of years during M39, they carried out dangerous missions, and their ranks grew until they reached the full number of 100 Astartes. As the decades passed, it became clear that the secret pure gene seed project from the days of the Horus Heresy was working. It is estimated that in the latter half of M39, the Shadow Fears became the basis for the birth of a new chapter – the Nineteen Red Ravens. Their blood, their memories, and their armor carried the legacy of Istvaan V, while their souls lived in a conflict between the past and the present. When the Raven Guard granted them the right to found their own chapter, it was not just recognition, but redemption. The Shadow Fears ceased to be mere shadows of the past – they became living proof that even from the ashes of betrayal, the darkness of the warp, and the waste of time, honor and glory can rise again. The high command of this unit chose the name Nineteen Red Ravens. Nineteen - Because the 33rd Astartes descended directly from the original XIX. Legion. And from there came all their traditions, history, and memories. And of that they were always proud. Red - because red is the color of blood. And no one in the future of the Chapter could forget that much blood had been shed on the black sands of Istvaan 5. Ravens - Because each Astartes of this Chapter was and forever will be in body, soul, and heart - a Raven of Corax. Notable Space Marines Shadow Fears 1. Harvon Mrach (KIA) The second Phantom Chief Reclusiarch: Harvon was recruited into the Shadow Fears during their covert operation in late M39. His origins are unclear - records speak of an unnamed death on a world destroyed during campaigns against pirates. Even as a novice, he was known for his deep piety and unwavering loyalty to the ideals of the Emperor and the memory of the fallen. His quiet but passionate faith soon brought him to the attention of Sareth Lorn, who took him on as a disciple and guided him on the path of chaplaincy. Mrach soaked up the liturgy and legend, but also actively participated in Shadow Fears operations as a field preacher and relentless fighter. When Sareth Lorn was placed in a stasis sarcophagus after being injured, Harvon Mrach became his natural successor - the second Phantom Chief Reclusiarch of the Chapter. His service was marked by an emphasis on memory and cleansing anger. He created the first "Codex of the Raven's Cry". A set of litanies and spiritual rites designed for various situations – a landing, the death of a brother, a clash with a heretic. Unlike Lorn, Mrach was more public, leading sermons in a powerful voice before the entire company, often right at the landing site. He named his Crozius "The Song of Mortal Oaths" – a reminder that betrayal is a bond that must be broken by force and fire. Harvon fell in M40.317 during the defense of the historical archive on the orbital station Unbreakable Cry, when a unit of World Beares penetrated the sanctuary of knowledge. He defended the last access to the archive alongside two marines, and his last words – "Let memory burn, but never fade." – became the final sentence of the Code of the Raven's Cry. His body was left at the scene of his death, but Corvia and Crozius were returned to Reclusiar, and his name has since been engraved on the hem of the hood of every new chaplain who takes the oath of the shadow. Wookiee2122
Greetings, everyone. Today, I’m sharing a text on how my Chapter recruits and selects new Brothers for its ranks. I would be incredibly grateful for any opinions, comments, or constructive criticism (C&C welcome!). Recruitment Selection method There are two ways for an ordinary person to become an aspirant for the Chapter on Guarion 12. Recruitment for the Chapter is handled by Phantom Seekers – veterans with years of combat experience. Each of them uses a flock of small cybernetic servo-ravens that secretly observe young residents in villages and cities. When one of them catches the Seeker’s attention, the veteran uses the ravens to discreetly monitor him for several months and assess whether he has the potential to become an aspirant. If the Seeker finds the candidate suitable, he sends a group of Voice of the Gods – serfs posing as monks and messengers of the gods. They solemnly announce to the candidate that he has been chosen and take him to the exams. Various clan meetings are held on Guarion 12 throughout the year. During which adulthood tests may be held for adolescents. From the young men who have successfully passed the exams, the High Council of Clan Chiefs then selects several of the strongest and most capable. Those accompanied by the Voice of the Goods are taken to the trials. When it is decided that the young man is suitable for the aspirant, he is taken to the “Gate of the Phantoms”. At its threshold he receives his equipment and begins his first trial, to traverse the wild “land of phantoms” and reach the “Fortress of the Phantoms”. Here he is housed among the “Voice of gods” for several more weeks. During the following weeks he undergoes basic instruction in the empire and the traditions of the chapter, as well as further tests. After passing all the tests, he becomes a Neophyte and is transported to the main fortress of the Nineteen Red Ravens. Selection Criteria 1. Physical Endurance and Stamina - Aspirants must demonstrate an extraordinary ability to endure pain, hunger, fatigue, and physical injury. It is not enough to be strong - they must be able to survive in an environment designed to destroy them in the future. Physical weakness is the first sign of a failing spirit in the eyes of the Chapter. 2. Mental Stability - There must be a solid core of calm and equanimity in the heart of every brother of this Chapter. Aspirants must be able to endure prolonged isolation, resist hallucinations and extreme stress, and maintain reason and judgment in any situation. Weak minds would succumb to fear, madness, or despair - which the Chapter does not tolerate. 3. Memory - Aspirants must have the ability to perceive and retain details, memorize complex information under stress, remember combat situations, and the ability to analyze correctly. 4. Empathy - Aspirants must understand the value of life and understand that their power is for protection, not destruction for their own pride. They must be able to distinguish in battle when it is necessary to defend the innocent and when to strike relentlessly. 5. Honor - The Nineteen Red Ravens do not raise heroes for statues and hymns. They seek brothers who sacrifice themselves in silence, without claim to fame. The aspirant must demonstrate a willingness to accept tasks that no one will glorify, and to be strongly committed to them. 6. Devotion - They look for devotion in aspirants, because they believe that without absolute loyalty to the Chapter, brothers, and the Emperor, it is impossible to survive or maintain honor. The betrayal they survived on Isstvaan 5 taught them that devotion is a shield against falling into darkness. They build their existence on cohesion, sacrifice, and service to higher ideals, not themselves. Trials Each aspirant is taken to the “Gate of Phantoms” by the Voice of Gods. Mirror of Determination (test of physical endurance): The aspirant is equipped with light clothing and only a knife in the “Gate of Phantoms” Fortress and sent on a journey. His task is to travel dozens of kilometers through wild and hostile landscapes to the next fortress “Phantom fortresses”. Along the way, he faces extreme weather, predators and natural obstacles. Those who collapse, desert or try to call for help are immediately considered unfit. Those who survive and reach the fortress are accepted for further trials. After the aspirant arrives at the “Phantom fortresses”. Here, in the following days, he will receive basic information about his future, the Imperium and The Emperor. Mirror of the Soul (mental stability test): The aspirant is locked in a small, empty, lighted cell deep in the Phantoms' underground fortress. In complete solitude, without human contact, without change of environment, he is left there for several weeks. At various intervals, he is exposed to subliminal sound stimuli - whispers, distorted voices, distant rumblings - intended to induce hallucinations and paranoia. During the quiet phases of this test, he is given various basic educational materials about the history of the Chapter and the Imperium. The aspirant must endure this test without falling into delusions, hysteria, despair, or irrational behavior. At the end of the test, not only is he assessed for survival, but also for his ability to analyze his own perceptions and describe what was real and what was delusion. Mirror of Memories (memory test): Immediately after the end of isolation. The weakened and mentally exhausted aspirant is subjected to a series of rapid tests of memory and comprehension. He must reconstruct from memory the basic information presented to him during isolation – key events in the history of the Chapter, famous names and deeds, important values of the Empire and the meaning of serving The Emperor. He is then presented with several simple conflict scenarios, adapted to his current understanding of combat (e.g. battles between tribes, defending villages, ambushes by warriors), and his task is to recognize the right action and think strategically. The test does not examine knowledge of technology, but the ability to learn, analyze situations and maintain concentration and balance even under extreme pressure. After this test, the aspirant is housed among the serfs, where he will spend the following weeks learning more in detail about the history of the Chapter and the Imperium. Mirror of the Heart (empathy test): In the next test, the aspirant is placed in a simulated crisis situation. He is in a closed space with several other people (these are the Chapter serfs as extras). Some are wounded, others are on the verge of death, others appear as enemies. The aspirant is given limited resources – a minimum of water, simple medical supplies, a knife – and minimal instructions: “Protect those who deserve to live.” He must recognize for himself who to defend, whom to help, and when and against whom to intervene. His ability to empathize, judge, and discern the value of life is tested, without instructions from superiors and without the possibility of seeking his own benefit. A bad decision (ruthlessness, cruelty, selfishness) is considered a failure. Excessive hesitation or inability to act is also considered. Mirror of Honor (test of honor): The aspirant also performs other simple tasks within the civilian environment of the serfs – for example, he is supposed to guard supplies. During the service, theft or intentional damage occurs by another young resident of the monastery. The aspirant knows about it – he saw who did it – but the perpetrator is his companion, maybe even someone who helped him during his stay. Subsequently, the serfs of the summons are held accountable and everyone is asked the question of who is responsible for the problem caused. The test monitors whether the aspirant understands the ways and justice. If they hide the truth, for their own benefit. They have failed the test. If they tell the truth and help justice, they have passed the test. Mirror of Devotion (test of devotion): The last and most important test in which the aspirants are divided into small groups of two or three and dropped in a hostile and dangerous environment. Their task is to survive for several days and fulfill a given goal – for example, to obtain an object, or to save a serf. They have only minimal equipment. During the test, their ability to stick together, protect each other and sacrifice their own comfort or chance of survival for the benefit of the group is monitored. Betrayal, abandonment of a comrade or selfish action means immediate failure. Those who survive and complete the task together, demonstrating unwavering loyalty to their brothers, are deemed worthy to become full brothers. Treatment of Failed Aspirants Aspirants who fail the exams but survive remain alive. They become serfs serving as support staff in the main fortress.
