Wookiee2122
Nineteen Red Ravens Allegiance: Imperium of Man Founding: Unstated Founding(39th Millennium) Successor of Raven Guard Corvus Corax lineage. Chapter Master: Kite Fierce Homeworld: Guranion 12 Fortress-Monastery: Alatum Castellum Allies: Raven Guard, Iron Hands and Salamanders Number of Marines: 1,000 Specialty: The Nineteen Red Ravens carry the legacy of the Raven Guard, but have given it their own unique style. They fight fast, with precision, and with a clear goal of crippling the enemy - never wasting the lives of their brothers or civilians. Their attacks target weak points, command centers, and critical infrastructure to crush the enemy before they can fully defend themselves. Their tactics emphasize stealth, disruption, and quick strikes. Battle Cry: For Corax! For the Imperium. For revenge!!! Colours: Black Chapter History Horus Heresy The history of the Nineteen Red Ravens Chapter harkens back to the Age of Darkness, during the galaxy-wide conflict known as the Horus Heresy, primarily to the events of the Dropsite Massacre of Isstvan V. It was here, that several members of the Astartes fell under various companies, 14 Chapters, XIXth Legion. During the tragic events of the Urgall Depression, various surviving Legionnaires became separated from the main army of the XIXth Legion and their companies in the confusion of the retreat. And they witnessed brutal atrocities around them. In the following days, these Astartes managed to join the rest of the XIXth Legion. Until Corax and his children were driven to the Gular Salt Plains. The Legionnaires, numbering around 50 Astartes, were separated from the Legion during the retreat and were driven into nearby ravines. And were thus unable to participate in the final battle at the Gular Salt Plains. And so unfortunately missed Commander Branne's unexpected rescue mission. These 50 Astartes were stranded on Isstvan V for the next few months. The Astartes formed into several squads. All the while they were on the run and hiding from the Traitor Legions and surviving on the planet's surface in various catacomb hideouts. Later they moved further north and hid in the desert area. During that time they went through several hard clashes with members of the Chaos Legions. By miracle or chance, 2 squad managed to find a wrecked but slightly damaged Thunderhawk belonging to the Traitor Legion World Ethers. After a few weeks, the "Mechanics" managed to get the ship operational. In the end, only 22 surviving Astartes from various companies boarded the Thunderhawk with several containers of gene-seed. Since the Thunderhawk originally belonged to the Traitors, the ship managed to get off the planet. Their next intention was to find a larger ship capable of warp travel among the battle debris in the system, if it were necessary to repair it and fly home. Unfortunately, their intention failed. The Astartes were unable to find a ship capable of operation in space. So they decided not to return to the planet. But luck or fate favored them. The Raven Guard Command sent a small reconnaissance mission to the planet Istvan V. A strike cruiser named Silent Omen, on board of which were 11 Raven Guard Legionnaires. Silent Omen was picked up by Thunderhawk and had to immediately jump into warp because it was attacked by enemies. Thanks to the Warp Anomaly, the ship emerged into reality at the beginning of the 39th millennium. 39th millennium Silent Omen with 33 Legionnaires arrived at Deliverance. The crew of surviving Astartes was subjected to investigation, whether they belonged to traitors or whether they were somehow negatively affected by the warp. When a few weeks later all tests finally confirmed the purity of their gene-seed and loyalty to the Imperium of Man and the Raven Guard. Their gene-seed was declared a relic. The then Chapter Master with the Librarian decided on the necessity of isolating and protecting this gene-seed. As a secret project, a special secret unit of the Raven Guard - Shadow Fears was formed from all 33 surviving Astartes. 40th millennium In the following centuries, after several successful missions, it was decided that the unit would become the cornerstone for the founding of a new Chapter with pure gene-seed. The founding of a separate Chapter occurred in the period M39.600-700. At the beginning of its existence, the Chapter was founded as a fleet. In the time of M40.009, the Chapter liberated Planet Guranion 12 from the Dark Eldar cabal. About a century later, this planet became the Homeworld of the Chapter. Wookiee2122
Notable Campaigns Operation Silent Roar (404.M39): A sharp increase in Orc activity was detected in the central part of the Velkaer sector, including signs of the construction of a massive war machine. Unable to respond in time due to a lack of troops, Imperial forces were dispatched to the planet Ikran-Delta, a Shadow Fears strike force with the goal of destroying key infrastructure before the Orc war could fully erupt. The unit landed at night in the ruins of an old manufacturing zone and split into smaller teams. Saboteurs mined supply routes while Devastators positioned themselves on elevated positions. The tactical core then struck directly at the Orc command post, incapacitating their warboss and causing panic. Despite mounting resistance, the Astartes stuck to their plan - the enemy was disorganized and unable to respond in a coordinated manner. A series of controlled explosions destroyed the power cores, and the Gargant, which was being built, collapsed into its own ranks. The Shadow Fears withdrew without a trace after completing their objective. The operation was considered a complete success. The Orc threat in the sector was averted before it could grow to any greater proportions. The mission demonstrated the unit's ability to strike quickly, silently, and precisely - as the spirit of the XIX Legion and the Raven Guard demanded. Battle of Oryx-Tau (499.M39): The Shadow Fears unit was dispatched to the planet Oryx-Tau in the Gharron Nebulae, where signs of chaotic activity had emerged. The planet's surface was infested with warp energy, indicative of the presence of Word Bearers. The mission's objective was to strike before the warp rift opened. Veteran Sergeant Decael Torm led a platoon of devastators and occupied a high ground with a direct line of fire on the main complex. His heavy weapon silenced several defensive positions and allowed the strike teams to advance. Despite fierce resistance, Torm remained steadfast, holding a position from which he could coordinate the fire of the entire section. When the enemy attempted a counterattack, Torm decided to cover the retreat of the part of the forces that were in contact inside the complex. In the final overload of fire systems, he fell, personally stopping a group of mutant warriors with a swift volley. His heavy bolter remained the last weapon in action until his brothers withdrew to a safe zone. Torm's body was later found at the scene of the clash - he remained at his post until the end. His sacrifice allowed the mission objective to be completed without further losses. His name was inscribed in the annals of the fallen and to this day serves as an example of calm and devotion in the heart of chaos. Operation Glass Silence (561.M39): A Tau interstellar communicator on the moon of Yiv'Ratha-3 began jamming Imperial transmissions throughout the Vathor subsector. Imperial command had designated the station as a priority target for destruction, but a direct attack was ruled out due to the strong defenses and civilian presence. The task was entrusted to the Shadow Fears unit, known for their ability to destroy with surgical precision. During the night, the pods landed with a small squad in craters near the station. The soldiers moved unnoticed through the maintenance systems, guided by old maps from the days of human colonization. The saboteurs placed a silent charge on the main power core, while the rest of the team prepared escape routes. The explosion hit precisely. The communications complex collapsed in on itself, and its debris scattered into the wasteland. The Tau were disoriented and most of their defenses reacted too late. The Shadow Fears left the moon without casualties, while the communications chaos in the area prevailed, which the Empire used to quickly counterattack. The mission lasted less than six hours, but its impact was calculated to affect entire systems. In the unit's chronicles, it was marked as a textbook example of the silent destruction of a key target without open conflict. Battle of the Varantar Tomb (Date Unknown; Officially - 400-700.M39): On the planet Varantar, which was known for its ancient tombs and archaeological sites from the Dark Age of Technology. During the research, a warp seal was discovered, which attracted the attention of the Word Bearers and their 7th Company, the Black Choir. Together with the Chaos Cultists of the Cults of the Doomsday Confession, they began performing rituals on the planet, during which they sacrificed civilians and prepared to activate the warp portal. The Shadow Fears, an elite unit of the Raven Guard, volunteered for this mission to prevent the activation of the "Gate of Confession". And also to exterminate their hated enemies from the World Bearers. With the help of the surviving Deltar Guards, they began a guerrilla war in the underground catacombs, selectively eliminating the Chaos leaders and Word Bearers preachers. The attacks were swift and precise, but the Chaosites were determined to open the portal at all costs. The decisive moment came when the Chaos forces were able to activate the portal. The then-young Librarian Duren Valak sacrificed himself to deactivate the warp seals, preventing the planet Varantar from being swallowed up. Also killed in the battle was Sergeant Mornak Sael, a veteran known for his tenacity and determination, who was a key authority figure to the Shadow Fears' younger brothers. Thanks to the heroic efforts of the Shadow Fears and their sacrifices, the planet Varantar was saved from falling into the Immaterium. Although the unit suffered casualties, their success ensured the planet's safety and halted the spread of Chaos. Varantar became a sacred place where the relics of fallen heroes, especially Mornak Sael, were enshrined. Battle of the Gharron Nebula ((Date Unknown; Officially - 600-700.M39): Several Imperial ships disappeared in a remote area known as the Gharron Nebula. The reconnaissance revealed the activity of the World Eaters – former brothers of the Legiones Astartes, now malignant servants of Khorne’s fury. The Shadow Fears were sent to investigate and stop the threat. The operation led through wrecked ships and dead colonies, whose ruins were ravaged by crazed berserkers. Sergeant Malrek Othus led a tactical squad into the heart of the battlefield – the devastated orbital station of Korshen’s Fall, where the World Eaters had set up a command post. The battle was fierce and personal. The Shadow Fears used precision, deception and movement, while the traitors threw their bodies into the attack without fear of death. Malrek Othus fell while covering the retreat of his wounded brother, pinned between two treacherous chain-axe marines. After several days of fighting, the World Eaters’ forces were scattered. The Shadow Fears had won – but at a high price. Malrek Othus' body was never found, but his helmet was recovered from the wreckage and placed in the treasury. His death symbolically closed the era of shadow warfare - before the brothers revealed themselves to the world as a new chapter. Battle of Ilathen Bridge (991.M39): The Chapter's Nineteen Red Ravens faced an unexpected invasion by an Eldar splinter "lighthouse" in the Ephesus system. The conflict began when Eldar warriors launched a series of surgical strikes on defense stations around the moon Ilathen, disrupting Imperial control of a key trade route. The Third Company was sent to secure Ilathen Bridge - a vast orbital structure connecting an industrial complex to a defense station. Led by Aspects of the Guardians and highly mobile units, the Eldar forces used teleportation and rapid strikes to sabotage and confuse Imperial lines. The Chapter responded by deploying a combination of Devastators, assault teams, and precision drop pod reinforcements. The fighting was characterized by unpredictable movements of the Eldar forces and the need to adapt tactics on the fly. The company commanders applied the doctrine of flexible command, which managed to stabilize the situation and force the Eldar to withdraw after the destruction of their transmission crystal. The resilience and discipline of the units were particularly outstanding during the night phase of the engagement, when the brothers were literally cut off from the main force. The battle ended in victory for the Nineteen Red Ravens, albeit at the cost of several fallen brothers and severely damaged station systems. The bridge was held and subsequently fortified, while the Eldar survivors withdrew via a hidden portal. The conflict was later recorded in the Chapter's chronicles as a warning against underestimating fast enemies. The Hunt in the Shadows of Guranion (009.M40): In the year M40.09, a wave of sudden kidnappings and massacres struck the planet Guranion 12 - entire villages disappeared without a trace, bodies were found mutilated and desiccated. The name "Black Riders from the Stars" resurfaced from ancient clan legends - dark gods who hunt humans like game. In reality, it was an incursion by the Dark Eldar cabal, led by Archon Vess'korys, who had chosen the planet as a new hunting ground for entertainment and the slave trade. The Adetus Mechanikum had a small research team on the planet, as it had been conducting genetic research on the planet's population for many years to determine whether it was suitable as a homeworld for future Chapters. The Mechanic units lacked the resources to confront the Eldar threat. So they sent out a distress signal for help. The Nineteen Red Ravens, the closest loyal Astartes at the time, picked up the call for help and arrived without hesitation. They landed in the Misty Mountains Valley at night and began Operation Silent Light. Thanks to the presence of the Mechanic, the Marines received detailed information about the terrain and the distribution of enemy forces. Thanks to this, they tracked down and eliminated the Drukhari attack groups one by one. The Battle of several weeks culminated at the sacred site of Stonecradle, where the Nineteen Red Ravens destroyed the portal gate back to Commorragh and killed Vess'korys himself. The result was that for the quick and decisive action that protected the population and prevented further attacks, the planet was officially entrusted to the stewardship of the Nineteen Red Ravens as their domain several years later. The Ordeal of the Eclipse of Doom (412.M40): The 6th Company of the Nineteen Red Ravens Chapter, under the command of their Captain Daryn Kol, is sent to the Hesiskar Prime system to escort a convoy of Adeptus Mechanics supply ships. The mission goes awry when a massive Space Hulk, the Eclipse of Doom, emerges from the warp and appears directly in the convoy's path. During an emergency maneuver, the Strike Cruiser Silent Fenix suffers critical damage and Kol orders an emergency landing on one of the Space Hulk's stable sections. Shortly after landing, however, it becomes clear that the hulk is not dead - its corridors are inhabited by the mutated remnants of the World Eaters, who have turned into bloodthirsty monsters after millennia. The escort mission becomes a battle for survival. Daryn Kol immediately organizes defenses and divides the brothers into sectors to hold their positions as long as possible. The fighting lasted six days before the company was surrounded. Kol decided to stay with most of his command squad and cover the retreat of the last survivors. In the meantime, a small platoon of 6th Company sabotaged the wreck's reactor core, triggering the self-destruction of the entire Space Hulk. Only seventeen brothers escaped, carrying their captains' sealing wax and the memory of their brave captain, who fell with both judgment and honor. In his honor, the brothers of 6th Company have since recited an oath known as Kol's Formula: "Where logic fails, let reason prevail. Where reason falls, let honor stand." Operation Silent Fall (477.M40): The presence of Word Bearer forces in the Halvorn sector was revealed, transforming the abandoned industrial complex of Vordath Secundus into a bastion for the spread of heresy. The Nineteen Red Ravens Chapter sent a small infiltration team to carry out a sabotage operation. The mission was to destroy a key power reactor connected to a warp communications facility that could summon reinforcements from the depths of the Eye of Terror. Tarven Jhelt, a veteran saboteur and master infiltration, was given command of the operation. Together with five brothers, he penetrated deep into the enemy complex, overcoming cultist defenses and demonic guards, and placed a timed charge on the main reactor shaft - the explosion was intended to destroy the entire complex and disrupt the warp flow of communications. As they retreated, the brothers were intercepted by a patrol of Word Bearers. In the ensuing clash, two Astartes were seriously injured. Jhelt realized that the enemy could locate and deactivate the bomb. Therefore, he decided to stay. Together with his two brothers, he formed a final defensive ring - slowing the enemy and blocking access to the charge until their last breath. The explosion tore the complex apart. All data, equipment, and heretical forces present were wiped out. The bodies of the saboteurs were never found—only a recording of the final communication, in which Jhelt calmly confirms the success of the mission. Their names are now carved into a plaque inside the 9th Company sanctuary—a reminder of heroism without witnesses. Three Broken Wings on Antheron (505.M40): In M40.505, Imperial reconnaissance probes arrived at the planet Antheron—an agroworld crucial to the supply of the entire subsector—and confirmed the presence of a small fleet of World Eaters in orbit. It turned out that the forces of Chaos had already occupied the planet and were beginning to transform its surface into an arena of blood and madness. The first distress call for help came from the ruins of the former monastery of the Order of the Black Lilies, where the last surviving sisters were putting up a desperate resistance against the invading World Eaters. At the request of the Ordo Hereticus, the Nineteen Red Ravens Chapter responded, and three of its companies - the 3rd, 4th, and 10th - were dispatched to the planet to disrupt the occupation, locate and destroy key enemy command posts, and assist in the evacuation of civilian and clerical personnel. During the fierce fighting in orbit, the Chapter's units were dropped into the atmosphere under full fire, while the battle fleet fought a desperate battle with the World Eaters. At the climax of the battle, the Chapter's flagship, the Bleeding Claw, was badly damaged by a combined volley of torpedoes and plasma fire and exploded before evacuation procedures could be completed. Captain Helrak Fenn, Phantom Master of the Wings, of the 4th Company, died on board. The explosion also hit the supporting frigates, disrupting communication and coordination between the companies. The Astartes were thus drawn into the ground fighting in isolation, with no hope of reinforcement or retreat. The surface of the planet quickly turned into a bloody hell - the World Eaters already controlled key areas, and the lower orders of demons roamed freely among the ruins. Heavy fighting took place in the ruins of the city, with every street a new trap. Reconnaissance units of the 10th Company, led by Tharek Duskborn, were sent to map the enemy positions, but they were ambushed - Tharek was mortally wounded in a battle with World Eater berserkers while covering the retreat of his unit and the seriously injured Sister Claris of the Order of the Black Lilies. His body remained at the scene of the clash, but his efforts saved many lives. The Sororitas became a key ally at this stage - their faith and firepower helped hold the lines where technology and discipline failed. The fighting on the surface lasted for two long weeks, during which the situation changed with every hour. Each day brought new clashes, new casualties. The tactical units of the 3rd Company led key counter-attacks to slow down the World Eater units advancing from the eastern slopes. Jorvan Kreel, a veteran of the command platoon and a natural leader in the field, took command of the shattered unit after their sergeant fell. He coordinated the devastator fire and the attack with the Sisters of the Order of the Black Lily in an area known as Cathedral Pass. Kreel died while leading a counterattack to cover the retreating Allied forces—he was swept away by a plasma shell blast. However, his decisive leadership allowed the sororitas to pull their badly wounded to safety. After three more weeks of grueling fighting and defensive maneuvers, the turning point came—but not from the Nineteen Red Ravens. The decimated 3rd, 4th, and 10th companies had suffered heavy casualties and had to retreat to the ruins in the mountains, where they dug in and attempted a last-ditch hold. Reinforcements arrived. Ordo Hereticus units, Sisters of Silence, more Sororitas of the Order of the Black Lily. The new forces managed to deal decisive blows to the Chaosites. And in the end, they won - the Chaos portal was closed and the remaining World Eaters scattered. The battle was won, but not won - not for the Ravens. The loss of three veterans from Isstvan V, the destruction of the Chapter's flagship, dozens of fallen Astartes, and the collapse of the operational structures in two companies dealt the Chapter the greatest blow since its founding. The name of the battle - "Three Broken Wings" - became synonymous with pain and sacrifice. Battle of Frowar (555.M40): On the outskirts of the Arkeon capital city on the industrial planet Frowar, an ancient Necron tomb awakened. Before the Imperial administration could realize the extent of the threat, the defenders were overwhelmed and the city was reduced to ruins controlled by ruthless machines. Part of the 3rd Company of the Nineteen Red Ravens was deployed to locate and destroy the core of the Necron presence. In the ruins of Arkeon, the Astartes clashed with relentless legions of Necron Warriors, including heavily armed Immortals and the insidious Flayed Ones. Although the marines managed to form a defensive line and neutralize several teleport beacons, they were repeatedly forced to retreat in the face of overwhelming odds. Apothecary Ferren Raal, known as the Cold Touch, tirelessly tended to the wounded and extracted the gene-seed of their fallen brethren under enemy fire. Tragedy struck when veteran Faralus Gaheron was gravely wounded during a breach into the main chamber of the underground complex. Ferren Raal immediately moved to his position and began an extraction. At that moment, the area was hit by a volley of Necron weapons. Ferren covered his fallen brother's body with his own, saving his gene-seed, but himself succumbed to his devastating injuries. After the battle, the Necron presence was eliminated through targeted strikes and bombardment of the main tomb. Ferren Raal was solemnly inducted into the Hall of Heroes, as his death became a symbol of the apothecary's oath - to protect the brothers' gene-bequest at all costs. Defense of Castle Sourstone (614.M40): On the devastated world of Thullis, for centuries stood the silent fortress known as Castle Sourstone - a pre-Imperial observatory of black stone - surrounded by acid mists and corrosive rain. During the bloody campaign of the orcish Waaagh Tzolkha. This isolated outpost was attacked by a massive force of Orc warriors led by the warlord Gharazamad the Grey Claw. Thirty Marines, part of the 2nd Company of Nineteen Red Ravens, and their librarian Thareon “The Silent Voice,” were sent to defend it. Once the Marines arrived, they had no choice but to retreat. The communications link failed and the orbiting Strike Cruiser “Corax’s Heart” was destroyed. The battle lasted fourteen days and nights. Thareon, a master of the discipline of Shadow Memory, sealed the minds of the defenders, binding them to the structure of the fortress itself. As the troops fell, their memories remained: in the walls, in the shadows, in the echoes. The Orcs were blinded, confused, and mad with terror—attacking wraiths, falling into traps, fighting each other. Thareon commanded in silence, his thoughts guiding his remaining brothers as one blow. Yet the end was inevitable. He and his four brothers were the last to go, trapped in the heart of the fortress armory. When the Imperial Navy landing party arrived weeks later, they found only ash, rubble, and Thareon's charred body in a lotus seat—at the heart of a circle of shadow and ice. The message sealed in his psychic seal ended with the words: "Memory holds us. And we hold the line." Battle of the Black Moon of Neluthar (684.M40): This mission initially appeared to be a standard infiltration operation. A reconnaissance force from the 7th Company of the Nineteen Red Ravens Chapter, led by Librarian Vekar Teralith, was tasked with eliminating a demonic prophet who was spreading psychic madness across the continent of Luthar. Vekar and his brothers made the landing, equipped with camouflage gear and precise orders. It soon became clear that the enemy's strength had been underestimated. Chaos cultists and marines... protected the prophet with warp spells. Which distorted space itself and disrupted communication links. After several days of protracted fighting and losses in the Astartes ranks, Vekar decided to act alone. According to the orbital probe's records, the Marines of the 7th Company fiercely defended the temple entrance under the onslaught of overwhelming enemy forces, while Vekar himself entered the prophet's temple and unleashed a technique known as the Memory Core Rupture, a psychic strike focused on direct contact with the target's mind. The result was a massive psychic detonation of energy that wiped out all life within a twenty-kilometer radius. All that remained were piles of dead bodies from both sides and scorched earth. Vekar's body was never found. The names of the fallen Astartes were inscribed in the Record of the Raven's Voices with a special seal. This battle remains one of the most terrifying testaments to the selfless service of the Astartes. Battle of Haark's Fall (812.M40): The Battle of Haark's Fall took place on the edge of the Tenebris sector, where the once-proud manufacturing world of Haark II had been reduced to a ruin-covered wasteland under the onslaught of a massive Ork invasion. Waaagh! The Grambuk had overrun the entire planet, crushing the Imperial defenses in a matter of weeks. The remaining forces retreated to the ruins of the main hive, Dorrask, where they awaited a miracle - or doom. The Nineteen Red Ravens, led by the 1st Company under the command of Verrian Drosk, answered the call for help. The Astartes landing was swift and hard. Verrian personally led the assault on the roofs of the hive, where they fought furiously to cut off the Ork supply lines. In the midst of the battle, during the third wave of the enemy attack, a veteran carrying the 1st Company's banner was mortally wounded by a shell explosion. The standard fell into the mud among the rubble, half-burnt. Verrian, who had once saved the 44th Company battalion from Isstvan, did not hesitate - he grabbed the flag and rushed forward without a word. The banner rose again - dirty, torn, but visible. The surrounding brothers followed Verrian in a counterattack that momentarily turned the tide. Verrian led the spearhead of the attack to the command center of the orc headquarters, where he encountered Warbos himself. The orc boss was a colossus, brutal and mad, armed with a hammer made of engine pistons. Verrian faced the monster in face-to-face combat. The duel lasted minutes, perhaps only seconds - in a furious rhythm of sword, banner, and blows. Finally, the boss impaled Verrian with the rusty tip of his blade. But at that moment, Drosk's final blow—a fist clenched around the standard—struck him squarely in the throat. Verrian fell like a warrior, his banner clutched tightly in his hands. The Warboss collapsed beside him—severely wounded and sentenced to death, which Sergeant Kaelos delivered to him hours later. The banner was saved, stained with Verrian's blood. Today it hangs in the Hall of Deception on Guranion 12, an unforgettable symbol of loyalty that does not fall—even when its bearer does. Battle of Nacht Exodus (868.M40): Erupted on the lost moon of Drelhar IX, where an Adeptus Mechanicus archaeological team was summoned to investigate underground structures of unknown origin. When the explorers lost contact, four squads of the 5th Company of the Nineteen Red Ravens, including Librarian Kalen Mirhane, were dispatched to the planet at the request of the Tech-Priests to assess the situation and ensure the evacuation of survivors. Adeptus Mechanicus archaeologists discovered an unidentified xenos structure on the moon of Drelhar IX, which was later revealed to be a malfunctioning Webway gate. Its activation inadvertently allowed Drukhari forces to enter the planet. As 4th Company Astartes penetrated the core of the underground complex, they were attacked by the forces of the Thousand Bloodbound Cabal, whose technology distorted space, time, and the senses. Confusion, disorientation, and a series of false ambushes soon divided the platoons and shattered command. Librarian Kalen attempted to stabilize the situation using his own Reality Fixation technique, which anchored the brothers' consciousness through collective memory. While this helped hold the formation together for a little longer, the Eldar resistance grew stronger. Deep in the catacombs, however, the brothers encountered Archon Veyressi himself and his relic known as the Seal of the Cowfetters. Kalen resolved to absorb its power in an attempt to prevent its use. Archon Veyressi, in a last-ditch attempt to thwart Kalen's efforts, cast a powerful warp spell. The combination of the two energies created a powerful surge of energy that eventually exploded, causing the ceiling of the underground complex to collapse. The losses of 5th Company were heavy, with 4th Platoon alone being a single Marine. The operation was formally concluded as a tactical defeat, but Kalen's act remains etched in memory as a desperate attempt to turn the despair of battle into solid ground. Wookiee2122
Chapter Homeworld Name: Guranion 12 Status: Inhabited planet. Type: Feudal world. Relationship: The presence of the Chapter on the planet is a form of stewardship - the population has limited contact. The Astartes are seen as mythical heroes, from legends. Population: A less populated planet... Location: … I HAVE TO THINK ABOUT THIS…. Guranion 12 has been the homeworld of the Chapter Nineteen Red Ravens for centuries. The planet's gravity is slightly higher than standard. The atmosphere is breathable, with high humidity. The climate is mild and humid, with rainy seasons and frequent fogs that are thick even during the day. Mountains, deep forests, lakes and moors make up most of the surface. The soil is fertile but rough - suitable for grazing and growing crops. The most common natural phenomena include: Storms with lightning without thunder, called "loud silences" by the inhabitants. Seasonal migratory flocks of black birds, which herald the change of seasons. The presence of the Chapter on the planet is a form of stewardship - the population has limited contact. The Astartes are seen as mythical heroes, from legends. Planet History In the millennia before the Empire, Guranion 12 was an advanced colony of humanity - a world of technology, large cities, orbiting stations, production nests and its own fleet. Administration was decentralized, but stable. Its people lived in the glory of the Golden Age of the Human Expansion Era, until the time when the men of iron rebelled. This world was also affected by this war, and the great cities became ruins. Its destruction was completed by warp storms at the threshold of the 26th Millennium. They buried the stars behind an impenetrable veil. They cut off the planet from other worlds. The following centuries of isolation, the collapse of interstellar communication, and the depletion of key technologies brought a slow but inexorable decline. Machine networks fell silent, knowledge faded, and the world slipped into a long period of darkness. Civilization was left in ruins. Cities were overgrown with thorns, and the people survived in communities that became the basis of a clan system. Guranion 12 was not rediscovered until after the Great Crusade in M33. By then, it was already a backward world, completely beyond Imperial standards. After a brief inspection, it was classified as a feudal world. The Imperium restored formal reporting as orbital and remote, but interfered little in the daily lives of the inhabitants. During M39, a small research team was sent to the planet by the Adetus Mechanikum, tasked with conducting genetic research and determining whether the planet's population was suitable for recruitment into the Adeptus Astartes. And if even Guranion 12 itself is suitable as a homeworld for future chapters. In the year 009.M40, Guranion 12 was hit by a Drukhari raid. The Vess'korys cabal began hunting the planet's inhabitants for entertainment and the slave trade. The local Mechanic forces lacked the resources to confront the Eldar threat. So they sent out a distress signal for help. The Nineteen Red Ravens, the closest chapter at the time, intervened quickly. In a series of silent strikes, they crushed the raiders and destroyed their portal at the old site called Stonecradle. In the year 015.M40, the Mechanicum and other Imperial authorities agreed that the planet be entrusted to the Nineteen Red Ravens for stewardship. Since then, the chapter has used it as its base planet for recruiting new recruits. And so construction began on the chapter fortress and other necessary infrastructure for the chapter to operate. 125.M40 after all construction was completed, the Nineteen Red Ravens Chapter settled on Guranion 12, which has since become its homeworld. Wookiee2122
Fortress-Monastery Name: Alatum castellum Type: Planetary Fortress. Location: Located at the site of the planet's highest mountain. Surrounded by dense clouds. Description: Alatum castellum is the Fortress-Monastery of the Nineteen Red Ravens Space Marines Chapter on the world of Guranion 12. Alatum castellum is a very old building complex carved into a mountain, far in the North of the planet. Location: Located at the site of the planet's highest mountain. Surrounded by dense clouds. Description: A massive and vast fortress, built inside a mountain. Its main tower, which also houses the main entrance to the fortress, is shaped like a raven's head. Most important rooms: Corax's Great Hall: A vast entrance hall, showing the power and glory of the Chapter. The walls of the hall are lined with 22 statues of heroes and many reliefs depicting famous battles from the Chapter's history. The ceiling of the hall depicts a scene of the battle of Isstvan 5 so that no member of the Chapter will forget the horrors from which the Chapter was born. On the floor in the middle of the hall is the Chapter's emblem. On the opposite side of the main gate is a statue of Corvus Corax, reminding everyone who is their father. Raven Hall: A huge aviary was built inside the fortress, where the Chapter keeps ravens from Terra. The ravens are also allowed to roam freely throughout the fortress and around it. The Chapter Master himself takes care of the largest and strongest raven. Librarium (Raven Wisdom): The second most important place in the fortress is the great Library. Where the librarians guard and preserve the entire history of the Chapter. The oldest records hide a past dating back to the times of the Great Crusade. The memories of all 22 original marines who survived Isstvan V are recorded here. Also their memories of various battles during the Great Crusade. Thanks to these records of memories, the Chapter managed to find several ancient Dreadnoughts lying on ancient battlefields. Forge and Armory: Deep under the mountaintop is the Chapter's forge and armory. Therefore, it is able to maintain its own combat needs. Apothecarion: The most heavily guarded inner complex of rooms where the Apothecarions tend to wounded Space Marines. It also serves as a repository for the Chapter's gene seed, of course. Reclusiam (Chapel): The Chapter also has a sacred place that contains rare relics acquired throughout the Chapter's history. Here are fragments of armor from Isstvan 5, armor from fallen champions of the Chapter. Blessed weapons that have drunk deeply of the blood of Heretic, xenos, and humans. Banners and shattered icons of defeated enemies. Chambers of the Silent Voices: These are special, isolated rooms within each Company's chapel. They are reserved for brothers who are on the verge of spiritual imbalance. They serve as a place of meditation, penance, and healing of the mind for those who have been struck by the shadow of loss, guilt for the fall of a comrade, or symptoms of mental instability. Each chamber is decorated in the style of its company, the walls covered with wax seals and engraved with quotes from the Song of the Red Ash Wings. The room is completely silent. The brother spends his time here alone, under the supervision of a chaplain who enters the chamber only for designated moments of contemplation. The purpose of these chambers is not to punish, but to help the brother find his place in the shadows again - in a balance between memory, silence and the will to continue. Returning from the Chamber of Silent Voices is considered a rebirth, and brothers who pass through it are often quieter, more serious - but stronger than ever. Chamber of Remembrance: A sacred and silent place deep in the heart of the Nineteen Red Ravens Chapter's fortress monastery, serving as the spiritual center of the Chapter and a temple to the memory of the fallen. Inside a circular chamber, lined with niches of sealed relics and fragments of armor, lies the sealed Codex Record of Raven Voices. The chamber is a place of contemplation, penance, and oath, where brothers silently pay their respects to those who have fallen and confront their own past. Every step, every whispered name, and every touch of stone here is a reminder that memory is not a burden—but a commitment. Crypts: A complex of burial chambers deep in the heart of the mountain. The marines of this chapter also honor their dead—When a battlebrother falls, his brothers take Corvia and his Brother's Soul totem, then his body is left at the site of his death. Upon his return to the Keep, the marine's items are placed in a chest that is then walled up in a small tomb. On it is carved his portrait and a list of his deeds. Brother Tyler
I haven't had time to read this in depth, but I really appreciate the amount of thought and time that you've put into this. I look forward to (a) seeing the rest of the content you've developed, and (b) taking the time to read this in depth. Development of DIYs tends to be a labor of love and there is too little engagement from other community members, unfortunately. Do you have any of the Nineteen Red Ravens in miniature/model form, yet? Or is everything just "on paper" at this point? Yes, I have a lot of fancy text and graphics for this chapter of mine. I will gradually upload more things and texts here. I will be happy for any opinion and advice on my texts. Yes, I already have some miniatures. I will add them in the next post. Wookiee2122
Hi, as I promised, I'm posting a few pictures of my chapter's miniatures here. I don't make big armies for W40k, I mainly make small teams for Kill Team. Mostly various KT remakes for my chapter. I don't like primaris armor. Firstborn armor is closer to my heart and I like the MK6 the most. I started learn painting with Resin 3D printed miniatures because I was afraid that as a newbie I would ruin the original miniatures with my painting. :-D Here I am adding some 3D printed marines. I don't have decals on shoulders yet. Because i made my own decals. I would be grateful for any opinion and advice. I would be grateful for any opinion and advice, I am open to discussion. Wookiee2122
Hey everyone, here is a look at how my custom Space Marine Chapter is structured. I would love to hear your thoughts, feedback, and critiques. Let me know what you think in the comments below! Chapter Organisation Reaction to Primaris: The Chapter in the times of M42. can still be considered a Firstborn Chapter. Because it has not yet received Primaris reinforcements. The Chapter has basic, concise information about Primaris from various Imperial and non-Imperial sources. But this information has so far created skepticism among the Chapter's top leadership. If the Nineteen Red Ravens receive Primaris reinforcements in the future, it is not impossible that they will accept them. But it is also not impossible that they will not accept them, since the Apothecaries deeply revere the original purity of their Primarch's Geneseed. Furthermore, the Adeptus Mechanicus itself has a great interest in maintaining the purity of the original geneseed of Primarch Corvus Corax and the Raven Guard Legion. General Description: Chapter Master, 10 Captains - Each Captain has a command squad. 100 Marines, 10 platoons. 1 Sergeant for each company. Standard role advancement: After a warrior becomes a full-fledged Battle Brother, he is assigned to a Devastator unit to gain experience in power armor combat. He serves in a support role to the heavy weapons brothers in the unit. He identifies targets, carries ammunition, and collects weapons from fallen soldiers. Once proven stable and reliable in battle, he is assigned one of the heavy weapons. As the Space Marine proves himself steadfast and disciplined in the Devastator units over the following years, he earns a place in the assault squads, which are specialists in close combat.. They are equipped with jump packs and armed with a melee weapon in each hand. In these units, a Marine should learn to enjoy close combat and look the enemy in the eye without fear. After a Space Marine of the Nineteen Red Ravens has proven himself to be brave and wise, he may earn a place in the Tactical Squads. Also thanks to his service in the Devastator and Assault units, he has demonstrated his adaptability in his approach to the art of war and mastery of a variety of tactics and weapons. When a Space Marine has participated in hundreds of campaigns and thousands of battles, and has overcome the worst that the galaxy can throw at him, he is considered a veteran. Even in the Nineteen Red Ravens, such honor is not measured by length of service, but by blood shed, horrors overcome, and mighty deeds performed. Veterans of the Nineteen Red Ravens are also battle-proven leaders and highly experienced warriors. As such, they often fulfill the role of sergeant, leading squads of all types in any of the other companies. When a veteran demonstrates many years of combat experience and is awarded the Crux Terminatus and other war honors, he or she earns the right to serve in the elite 1st Company. In the Nineteen Red Ravens, veterans often wear classic power armor, which is why they are most often formed into Vanguard Veterans or Sternguard Squads. Because Terminator armor is less mobile than other Space Marines, the Nineteen Red Ravens Chapter does not own many of these armors and only a small number of elite Veterans wear them. These veterans have the Indomitus pattern at their disposal. The Chapter also has several Tartaros pattern armors. Climbing the ranks: In the Nineteen Red Ravens, each new brother starts out as an ordinary warrior. They learn to cooperate, handle pressure, and survive their first encounters with the enemy. Those who succeed become a full-fledged part of the unit. Those who prove themselves in combat and can remain calm under pressure are given more responsibility. They begin to lead small groups, and other brothers rely on them and follow their example. Some eventually take the lead, plan events, or supervise the training of younger ones. Not because they ask, but because they have shown that they can do it—by actions, not by words. Officer Ranks Chapter Master role: The Chapter Master of the Nineteen Red Ravens, as the greatest warrior, he has centuries of combat experience and is a master in all forms of combat. He leads the battle from the front lines, his experience allowing him to see how victory can be achieved. He also serves as the Governor of Guaniron 12, the home planet of the Nineteen Red Ravens Chapter, and has overall command of the battle fleet. Captains’ roles and specialist duties: Phantom Master of the Keep, Captain of the 1st Company. His duty is also to maintain the balance between military command and the spiritual shadow that permeates the Chapter's culture. In peacetime, he oversees the training of the most elite veterans, and in wartime, he leads the charge where unyielding strength and centuries of experience are needed. Phantom Master of the Watch, Captain of the 2nd Company. Duties as Captain: He is the ultimate commander of the Chapter's Keep defenses and oversees the security of the homeworld of Guranion 12. When the Chapter Master is off-planet, he assumes full responsibility for coordinating defense systems, standbys, and forces. He has the authority to call in defense units, activate reserve armories, and direct defenses in conjunction with the fleet and Techmarines. He also ensures that all access to genetic resources, libraries, and relics is protected according to Chapter protocols. Phantom Master of the Arsenal, Captain of the 3rd Company. Company He plays a key role as the Chapter's weapons and ammunition administrator. He is responsible for the inventory, distribution, and operational status of weapons systems, from personal weapons to heavy support systems to specialized ammunition and relic weapons. He works closely with the Techmarines and forges, overseeing supply logistics and ensuring that each company receives the appropriate equipment for its tactical deployment. In times of crisis, he has the authority to allocate weapons from reserve stores or release relics into combat - and his decisions often determine whether a mission ends in victory or defeat. Phantom Master of the Wings, Captain of Company 4. The Captain is responsible for all space operations of the Nineteen Red Ravens Chapter. As Fleet Admiral, he commands the flagship and all accompanying vessels - from battleships to strike cruisers to escort frigates. He plans and coordinates orbital landings, blockades, atmospheric penetrations, and warp movements throughout the Chapter. His job is to ensure that every mission has the necessary support from space and that the Chapter's units can operate quickly, silently, and deadly effectively at any time. He also directs the training of space pilots and crews, oversees the fleet's health, and makes decisions about the deployment of individual ships, including the allocation of transports to companies. Phantom Master of the Marches, Captain of Company 5. He is a key figure in the strategic planning and logistical deployment of the Nineteen Red Ravens Chapter. He oversees the operational deployment of all companies, monitors the development of campaigns, and maintains extensive tactical records and reports on the status of units, supplies, and losses. His primary role is to ensure that in any conflict the right forces are deployed in the right place, at the right time, and with the optimal support. When the Chapter Master is considering a major campaign, it is the Captain of Company 5 who provides him with an accurate map of capabilities, standby forces, and realistic options, including reserves, replenishment, and planned movements. Phantom Master of the Rites, Captain of the 6th Company. Responsible for the conduct, supervision, and preservation of all ceremonies, oaths, and rituals of the Nineteen Red Ravens Chapter. He ensures that the spiritual traditions of the Chapter are observed not only in accordance with the teachings of the Imperium, but also with its own customs derived from the XIXth Legion, the Raven Guard, and the traditions of Guranion 12. He works closely with the Reclusiarchs, Librarians, and Company Commanders to ensure that every oath, brother initiation, or burial of the fallen is conducted with dignity and according to the Chapter's code. He oversees the preservation of sacred texts, battle litanies, and songs of remembrance - and is also the one who reminds the Brothers in difficult times who they are, where they come from, and why they fight. Phantom Chief Victualler, Captain of the 7th Company. Responsible for the comprehensive logistics of supporting the Nineteen Red Ravens Chapter, with an emphasis on supplying not only the combat units but also the support personnel and infrastructure. He is responsible for managing the supply of food, water, medical supplies, clothing, and all the necessities for the daily operation of the Chapter - from the fortress monastery to the fleet. He coordinates warehouses, supply routes, the management of servitors and serfs, and ensures that each Battle Brother has everything he needs to fulfill his service in times of peace and war. His role is especially crucial in long campaigns, when the right timing and distribution of supplies can decide victory as much as the blade. Phantom Lord Executioner Captain of the 8th Company He is fully responsible for the training of all specialized assault units of the Nineteen Red Ravens Chapter. His task is to ensure that each Battle Brother of the Company is proficient in Jump Pack management, close quarters combat, and the rapid elimination of key targets. He oversees the condition and selection of equipment intended for close combat. During a war campaign, he often personally plans airborne maneuvers and determines the direction of the strike where brutal breakthrough force is needed. He also serves as a model of pride and fighting courage for others. Phantom Master of Relics. Captain of 9th Company. He holds the key role of custodian of all heavy weapons and firepower. He is responsible for the training of Devastators across the Chapter, their discipline in the handling of heavy weapons, and their deployment in fortress defense and war operations. He also oversees the maintenance and deployment of rare and master weapons. During times of war, the Chapter often personally plans which Devastator units and weapons will be called into service. Within the Codex structure, he is responsible for Devastator doctrine and represents the unwavering strength and deadly precision in the Chapter's tactics. Phantom Master of Recruits And Reconnaissance, Captain of 10th Company. He bears the immense responsibility of training the Chapter's new recruits, the Nineteen Red Ravens, and leading their youngest members on reconnaissance missions. His duties include not only preparing new recruits for the harsh conditions of combat, but also highly specialized training in areas such as infiltration, sabotage, and survival in hostile environments. He also plans and directs strategic reconnaissance operations, and is intended to be a role model for new Astartes, who learn from his impeccable skills in silent and deadly combat. His experience and knowledge of tactics and terrain make his role in the Chapter indispensable, and his leadership and training of the new generation of Astartes is crucial to the future of the Nineteen Red Ravens. Sergeants: In the Nineteen Red Ravens Chapter, Sergeants lead a 10-man platoon of most squads – be they tactical, assault, devastation, reconnaissance, veteran or terminator. They are responsible for leading their brothers directly on the battlefield, often in the toughest clashes, where seconds and instincts decide. Only those who demonstrate nerve, courage and the ability to make quick, correct decisions even under pressure can become Sergeants. They must be not only a strong warrior, but also a natural authority – someone whom their brothers will follow even into the shadow of death. An experienced Sergeant who has proven himself in many battles can earn Veteran status and be called to the Command Team or First Company – among the most honored warriors of the Chapter. Veterans: The Chapter’s veterans are the shadow of an ancient war and the blade of a new one. Veterans are some of the Chapter's most experienced and dangerous warriors. They excel in all forms of combat and are armed with the finest equipment the Nineteen Red Ravens have to offer. They lead by example, spearhead attacks, and prove their worth in every battle, forged by thousands of battles and unwavering loyalty. Their presence on the battlefield is a source of inspiration and reassurance - a warning to the enemy that the end is coming. Command Squas: The Command Squad of the Nineteen Red Ravens is also an elite unit composed of veterans who form the closest entourage to each company captain. These marines are chosen not only for their combat skills, but also for their tactical thinking and ability to lead independently. Members of the Command Squad regularly find themselves in the toughest battles, and only the most experienced survive long enough to be considered as future successors to their captain. The command squad serves not only as a bodyguard, but also as a support unit – the Company Champions defend the honor of the unit in hand-to-hand combat, the Antiques (standard-bearers) proudly carry the company banner, and the veterans provide fire support using special or ancient weapons. This platoon is the backbone of the command and ensures continuity of command in every campaign, even in the event of the loss of the captain. Wookiee2122
Hey everyone, here is a next look at how my custom Space Marine Chapter is structured. I would love to hear your thoughts, feedback, and critiques. Let me know what you think in the comments below! Specialist Ranks Librarian: On the Chapter's home planet, Librarians are chosen from among the gifted apprentices of the tribal shamans. Once a psyker completes their training, they can enter the Librarius as a lexicanium and then rise through the ranks to become Codicier, Epistolary, and eventually Chief Librarian. Also in the Nineteen Red Ravens, their duties off the battlefield include interstellar communication and screening potential recruits for psychic abilities. They maintain knowledge of the Chapter's history, records of rare items, and serve as psyker warriors on the battlefield. In combat, the Librarian's psychic abilities often manifest in useful, and often destructive, ways. In the Nineteen Red Ravens, these abilities include casting destructive spells, building protective fields, masking the movement of friendly units, or psychically intimidating the enemy. More powerful Librarians use their abilities in more subtle ways, being able to step out of time to anticipate the enemy's next move, or deflect fire from friendly targets. They wield brutal weapons and wear psychic hoods to enhance their abilities. They are often armed with power weapons that only Librarians and other psykers can fully utilize, channeling their powers through these weapons. Techmarine: Chapter techmarines, are marines who have shown an interest and talent for technology, tend to the Chapter's vehicles and weapons, manage the forges and oversee the production of new equipment, and hold secrets about technology unique to the Chapter, wield all manner of axes and have servo-weapons or other mechanical enhancements built into their ancient armor. The Chapter needs Techmarines to maintain its most valuable equipment, which is the Dreadnaughty. The Chapter also owns several older Contemptors and Leviathans. Chaplain: The Chaplains of the Nineteen Red Ravens are guardians of faith, tradition, and memory. They lead their brothers in prayer before battle, reminding them of their oaths and the Emperor's legacy, but they also hold the painful history of betrayal on Istvaan 5. Their words provide strength and inspiration - even when all else fails - their voices are filled with both anger and hope. Each chaplain carries a rosarius, which protects them with an energy field, and a crozius arcanum - usually in the form of a heavy mace - a symbol of faith, but also an instrument of righteous punishment. Their presence on the battlefield is more than just spiritual: they are beacons of determination and strength that hold their brothers together even in the darkest hours. Given the Chapter's past and its origins in suffering and betrayal, the chaplains of the Nineteen Red Ravens are considered especially important. They are not just preachers - they are the living memory of the Chapter, the voice of those who have fallen, and the conscience of those who have survived. Apothecary: The Apothecary's role is to serve as a field medic and biological researcher, and is also among the Chapter's elite warriors. Apothecarys are highly respected within the Chapter, charged with maintaining the health and genetic purity of the Space Marines. Not all injured Marines can be saved; in such cases, it is the Apothecary's responsibility to provide the "Imperial Peace" (euthanasia) to those warriors who deserve it. The Apothecary's duty is also to harvest the progenoid glands from the bodies of fallen Marines, needed to cultivate geneseed. Each company in the Chapter is assigned an Apothecary to accompany it into battle. Marines rarely go into battle without an Apothecary available, as each Marine is a valuable resource, and the loss of any of their geneseed would be a blow to the Chapter. Apothecaries, who rarely go into battle, serve as bio-researchers and participate in the training of neophytes and potential new apothecaries. Champion: The Champion of the Nineteen Red Ravens Chapter is also a member of the Space Marine Honor Guard. He is a warrior of immense skill and great bravery. He is willing to lay down his life in defense of the Chapter Master. He must be prepared to challenge any enemy leader to single combat. His training is focused on this unique duty. He is equipped with a force sword so that he can fight for the honor of his Chapter. Ancient: They are known as the standard bearers of each company. These Space Marines have demonstrated honor and fighting ability sufficient to be granted the right to carry the company's banner into battle. They often form part of the command team and fight alongside veteran squads as well as the company captain. Even the standards of the Nineteen Red Ravens are ancient relics steeped in history and deeply revered by the warriors of each company. Some of them have been carried on the battlefield for hundreds, if not thousands, of years. The Marines of the Nineteen Red Ravens companies, from the most seasoned veteran to the newest recruit, fight harder in the presence of the Ancient and the standards. The Ancients are powerful and fierce warriors, for it is their duty never to let their banner fall while they still breathe. Losing a banner while alive is considered the worst and most shameful disgrace. Honor Guard: The Honor Guard is the Chapter Master's escort, protecting him in battle and carrying the Chapter's banner.b They are veterans who have won all the awards and honors within the Nineteen Red Ravens Chapter. They have a wealth of experience, even so much so that the Chapter Master himself seeks their advice. They fight with cold courage, their experience having turned the tide of many battles. When one of the Honor Guard members dies in battle, his brothers fight even harder to retrieve his relics and return them to the Chapter's vault. Other: Phantom seeker: Line Ranks Scout Troops. The Scouts of the Nineteen Red Ravens are the eyes and ears of the Chapter—young neophytes learning the arts of shadow and deception in the field. Deployed far ahead of the main force, they operate as independent infiltration teams, gathering intelligence, destroying key infrastructure, and sowing confusion in the enemy ranks before the first shot of the main assault is fired. To the Nineteen Red Ravens, Scouts are not just scouts—they are key instruments of the silent war. Every success behind the lines is theirs, and every fallen Scout is considered a young hero who took the first sacrifice on the path to full brotherhood. Tactical squad: The Tactical squad is the most versatile and tactically flexible force in the Nineteen Red Ravens army. It makes up the majority of the four battle companies and two of the four reserve companies. This makes it the most common type of unit in the Space Marine force. The Nineteen Red Ravens tactical units are the backbone of the Chapter – versatile, disciplined and ready to act independently in any conditions. They are based on the teachings of the Raven Guard and combine precision, rapid response and the ability to adapt to the situation in real time. Each individual in the squad has undergone rigorous trials and years of service in other roles before earning the right to wear the tactical insignia. They operate covertly on the battlefield, often deployed deep behind enemy lines, where they use terrain, shadow and disinformation. They attack key targets – command posts, communication nodes and supply lines – with surgical precision. Their missions are short, deadly and without unnecessary attention. Each member of the squad is well versed in infiltration, sabotage and direct combat. Not only is their training in “wraith-slipping” an advantage, but also a strong ability to operate independently of central command. The Nineteen Red Ravens tactical unit is a shadow that strikes where the enemy is most vulnerable – and before they realize they have been defeated. Assault squad: The Nineteen Red Ravens assault units are built for quick, precise, and deadly strikes. As frontline shadow hunters, they specialize in surgical strikes against command targets, sabotage, and counterattacks at key locations. Taking advantage of their rapid mobility via jump packs, motorbikes, or speeders, they operate within or outside the front lines—hidden but ready to strike. Close combat is their forte—each member is a master of movement, infiltration, and hand-to-hand combat. They often launch attacks from high above or from unexpected directions, shattering enemy morale and destroying command before they can react. Hit-and-run tactics are the order of the day—they don’t stay in one place longer than necessary. Their sergeants double as scouts and coordinators—they monitor the battlefield, relay key data, and adjust the company’s attack direction as needed. The Nineteen Red Ravens assault units are like blades slithering out of the darkness – fast, precise and unstoppable. Devastator squad: Devastator squad are specialized units tasked with long-range fire support and equipped with the Chapter’s rarest heavy weapons. Even within the Nineteen Red Ravens Chapter, two Devastator squad are typically assigned to each of the four battle companies, while the entire 9th Reserve Company is comprised of Devastators. The Nineteen Red Ravens Devastators are a silent, relentless force tasked with crushing key targets with surgical precision. They serve not as static batteries, but as mobile support for moving tactical and assault squads. Thanks to their training in silent deployment, they are able to assume advantageous positions without detection and strike the enemy before they realize where the death has come from. They focus on eliminating heavy vehicles, fortifications, and high-priority targets, clearing the way for faster units. They work in tight, well-coordinated teams, and their fire is often coordinated via Libraria or an advanced tactical-optical interface, allowing them to target with precision even in conditions of limited visibility. Some Devastator units also operate as silent "attention-catchers," using flashfire and deceptive positions to distract the enemy - only for the main blow to come from another direction. Their fire is not a storm - it always strikes the heart of the prey. Vanguard Veterans: The Vanguard Veterans of the Nineteen Red Ravens are lightning in the shadows, experts in the art of close combat. They are the elite strike force of the 1st Company, specializing in lightning close-quarters engagements. Deployed where a line must be broken, a precision strike must be delivered, or an ally must be rescued, they are a deadly combination of speed, precision, and experience. Each Veteran is a master of infiltration and close-quarters combat. Equipped with jump packs, specialized weapons, and in some cases, camouflage gear, they land like ghosts from above. They strike, crush key resistance, and disappear before the enemy can react. They are trained to operate in small groups, often without direct support. The Vanguard Veterans do not lead frontal attacks, they are a wedge that finds a weak spot and tears it apart without mercy. Their presence on the battlefield is a harbinger of the end approaching – not because of their overwhelming strength, but because of the cold, calm precision with which they carry out their deadly mission. Sternguard Veterans: The Sternguard Veterans are the Chapter’s unwavering bulwark – the elite marksmen of the 1st Company, trained to accurately and calmly destroy the enemy in the most difficult conditions. They bear the brunt of the last line: covering retreat, holding their ground, or standing firm in the face of overwhelming odds. They use specialized bolters, a variety of ammunition, and unwavering discipline to dominate the battlefield through control and precision. Unlike the Vanguard Veterans, they do not seek close contact. Their strength lies in patience, cool judgment, and accurate fire from ideal positions – from heights, ruins, or narrow access routes. Where others retreat, they stand. They weaken, slow, and at the perfect moment destroy the enemy. The veteran Sternguard of the Nineteen Red Ravens are both shield and blade - those who remain when others flee. Every shot is a testament to their devotion, every strike a response to the betrayal of Istvaan that they have never forgotten. Terminator squad: The Terminators of the Nineteen Red Ravens form the core of the 1st Company - elite warriors clad in rare relics of Terminator tactical or assault armor. The Nineteen Red Ravens Chapter has several Tartaros-type armors. Each suit is entrusted only to brothers who have survived decades of service, bear a deep bond to the fallen, and have passed the ultimate test of honor. In the eyes of the Chapter, the armor is a symbol of the spirit of the fallen of Istvaan - it cannot be owned, only worn with humility. Terminators are also deployed in the Chapter according to their division: Tactical Terminators use a combination of heavy firepower and melee hammers or swords; Assault Terminators are armed with storm shields and lightning claws or energy hammers, designed to break through resistance in heavy combat. In Nineteen Red Ravens doctrine, they also serve as an "unstoppable wedge". Terminators move via teleportation or heavy transport vehicles into the heart of an enemy position, where they strike without warning. Their advance is slow but inevitable - accompanied by psychic power and terrifying silence. Where their brothers creep in the shadows, Terminators come as living death - and in their presence the enemy no longer has a future. Centurions: The Nineteen Red Ravens Centurions are the heavy fist of the Chapter - slowly advancing walls of metal that break down fortifications and secure key positions. Equipped with Centurion Warsuit armor, they combine firepower with extreme durability. Unlike the light and stealthy strikes common to the Chapter, Centurions are deployed when forces are needed that will not only defeat, but overwhelm and crush the enemy. They are a dark exception to the Shadow Doctrine - and that is why they are so effective. The Chapter employs two basic types: Assault Centurions are armed with jackhammers and flamethrowers, specializing in fighting in urban ruins and against bunkers; Devastator Centurions carry heavy grav-cannons, lascannons or rocket launchers and support other units from defensive or breakthrough positions. They usually operate in small groups as an unstoppable wedge or defensive anchor during encirclement. Although they are not masters of stealth, their presence on the battlefield is carefully chosen - deployed where shadow is no longer enough and where darkness is needed to strike with the full weight of iron. Their slow, destructive advance is often accompanied by cover from the shadows – because once the Centurions move, the enemy knows that retreat is no longer possible. Wookiee2122
Hi everyone, here's another look at my own chapter. Today I'm going to show you the look of the chapter, its colors and markings. I'd love to hear your thoughts, feedback and criticism. How do you like the chapter emblem and the markings of each company? Chapter Appearance Chapter Colours Chapter symbol: Red silhouette of a flying raven from the front. In place of the head, there is a white raven skull. Between the wings is the black number XIX. The number is part of the emblem, because the chapter is proud of its origin from the 19th Legion. In the case of shoulder plates, the number is displayed separately in the lower part of the shoulder plate, the red raven is alone. Armor colors: The Chapter most often uses black armor types MK6 and MK7. Wookiee2122
I wanted to share a major historical turning point for the Shadow Fears (the transitional unit before they officially became the Nineteen Red Ravens). This event directly explains why the entire Chapter wears red wings on their shoulder plates today. I’d love to get your thoughts on this part of the lore: How do you feel about this specific boarding action as the catalyst for the Chapter’s name and heraldry change? For the modeling guys out there, have you ever used the Forge World Dark Fury shoulder pads on your custom Chapter's standard tactical Marines? Design Notes: Why the Red Wings of the Dark Fury? I wanted to share a quick behind-the-scenes look at how the visual identity and lore of my Chapter actually came to life. At the very beginning, it was driven by pure modeling passion. I absolutely love the design of the winged shoulder pads from the Horus Heresy Dark Fury unit. To me, they are easily one of the most visually striking pieces of armor from the entire Age of Darkness. Of course, I fully understand and respect the official Warhammer lore. I know what these wings meant in the 31st Millennium and that the Dark Fury unit has practically vanished from the modern setting. However, I had a very clear vision in my head: I desperately wanted to see those mechanical wings on my miniatures, specifically painted in vibrant red. As a dedicated Warhammer fan, I didn’t want to just slap some cool-looking bits onto modern Space Marines without any narrative explanation. I needed a strong lore reason that would justify such a radical shift in heraldry within the galaxy. And that exact hobby goal is how the story of the Battle of Kawaros X and the heroism of Lykir Vaan was born. Those red wings worn by my entire Chapter today are no longer just an ornament. They are a direct symbol of the exact moment the future of the Nineteen Red Ravens was bought with blood in the pitch-black corridors of the Silent Omen. In the end, my desire for a specific aesthetic gave my Chapter its ultimate founding myth. C&C is highly welcome! Pureblood Protection In 749.M39, the Shadow Fears joined forces with the Astra Militarum and Adepta Sororitas to quell an apparent warp crisis on the moon of Kawaros X. Brull Brotherhood One of the primary missions of the secretive Shadow Fears unit since its inception has been to wage relentless warfare against the treacherous legions of the Horus Heresy. Although they served the Raven Guard in secret, their frequent adversaries over the centuries have been the World Eaters and Word Bearers warbands. Most notable among these is the Brull Brotherhood, a brutal warband descended from the World Eaters. Their leader, the cruel Chaos Lord Brull, has developed a personal hatred for the Shadow Fears over the years, who have repeatedly thwarted his warband's raids, sabotaged his campaigns, and robbed him of victory and spoils of war. Where other Chaos commanders saw only more enemies of the Empire, Brull saw an affront that must be washed away with blood. After yet another defeat, Brull and his right-hand man, Magos Falabor Vereexis of the Dark Mechanica, hatched a plan not to conquer the world or open a new warp portal, but to destroy the Shadow Fears once and for all. On the remote moon of Kawaros X, they created a fake warp crisis. Cultists carried out mass sacrifices, demonic manifestations appeared in the sky, and entire settlements were massacred to create the illusion of an impending demonic invasion. As Brull had expected, distress calls quickly spread across the Imperial communications network. Several Imperial forces responded to the threat. Astra Militarum units were dispatched to Kawaros X to secure civilian sectors and conduct ground operations, while the Adepta Sororitas battle sisters were tasked with preventing further demonic activity. When the Shadow Fears intercepted a transmission of information about the situation, they decided to act without waiting for orders. Due to the presence of the traitorous Astartes, they immediately joined the operation and, together with other forces, launched a large-scale landing on the lunar surface. In the following hours, fighting raged across cities and industrial complexes. The battle lasted two days and two nights. Brull soon discovered that his plan was not going as he had hoped. He had expected an isolated action against a few small units of Astra Militarum and Shadow Fears. Instead, he was faced with a coordinated attack by thousands of Guardsmen, fanatical Battle Sisters and elite Shadow Fears. The cultist forces were systematically destroyed and the demonic rituals interrupted one by one. The Shadow Fears airborne units penetrated deep into enemy lines and destroyed command posts, while the Sororitas led cleansing attacks against the Chaos sects. By the end of the second day, it was clear that Brull's operation on the lunar surface had failed. However, this was only the first, and less important, part of Brull's plan. Trapp in the depths of space While two-thirds of the Shadow Fears fought alongside the Adepta Sororitas and Astra Militarum on the surface of Kawaros X, the other half of the Chaos forces, under the personal command of Brull, waited in hiding among the ruins of old mining stations on the edge of the system. As Imperial forces began evacuating thousands of civilians and survivors from the attacked moon, Brull's forces attacked one of the refugee convoys. The convoy's commanders reported that without immediate assistance, thousands of innocents would be condemned to death. The crew of the Silent Omen could not ignore such a call. The ship therefore separated from the rest of the fleet and set out to aid the besieged transports. It was only when it arrived in the area of the clash that it became clear that it was a carefully prepared trap. Hidden forces of Brull's forces emerged from the surrounding wreckage of the mining stations and caught Silent Omen in the crossfire. Although the ship's crew fought with their usual discipline and managed to damage several enemy vessels, Brull achieved his main objective - separating the legendary ship Shadow Fears from all possible reinforcements. A fierce space battle ensued, during which several assault boats with drop pods broke through the Silent Omen's defensive fire. Chaos Space Marines penetrated the main hangars, service decks, and engineering sections. Brull, unwilling to risk being stopped by a single line of defense, divided his forces into several strike groups. Several isolated clashes quickly erupted within the ship's interior. In the first hours of the attack, it seemed that the Chaos had achieved complete surprise. Their goal was to penetrate deep into the heart of Silent Omen, kill its command, disable its reactors, and turn the legendary ship Shadow Fears into a burning wreck drifting through the void of space. At first, the Chaos had no idea what treasure lay hidden within Silent Omen's interior. However, as the battle progressed, Brull's veterans began to notice strange behavior among the defenders. Some sections of the ship were defended with unusual ferocity, despite having no apparent strategic importance, while elsewhere the defenders were hastily withdrawing. Brull, who had spent centuries at war with the Astartes, quickly realized that only relic vaults, command archives, or gene stores could be of such value. When the remains of the Apothecarion and specialized gene servitors were found among the fallen defenders, his suspicions turned to certainty. At that moment, he changed his plan. Instead of destroying the ship, he gave the order to break through to these heavily guarded ship corridors. If the Shadow Fears geneseed was indeed located beyond those walls, then its destruction or theft would be a much greater victory than the mere loss of the ship. During the defense of Silent Omen and its gene vaults, an event occurred that would forever change the history of Shadow Fears. As the Chaos forces pushed deeper into the ship's interior, and the individual lines of defense were pushed back one by one, the defenders concentrated their forces around the Apothecarium and its genetic archives. The defense was taken over by a reserve force that had been left on board in case of an emergency. And at their head stood one of the original 22 surviving brothers from the ancient times of the Horus Heresy. A veteran who had served for centuries, he was known for his unwavering discipline, experience from countless battles, and devotion to the legacy of the fallen of Istvaan V. As the situation grew increasingly desperate and the Chaos forces began to focus their attacks on the sectors protecting the genetic vaults, this warrior led the defenses and turned the narrow corridors leading to the Apothecarium into a bloody fortress. His name was Lykir Vaan, a former Dark Fury and one of the most respected veterans and instructors of the Shadow Fears. The defense of the apothecarion had become a slaughterhouse within hours. The corridors leading to the Apothecarium were narrow, and the defenders had taken advantage of them to the last detail. Every inch of floor was soaked in blood. The World Eaters attacked in waves, driven by hatred and battle madness, while the Shadow Fears defenders retreated only when dozens of their dead enemies lay beneath their feet. Lykir Vaan stood at the head of the defense. His lightning claws flashed like silver lightning through the flashes of emergency lighting, and each lunge meant the death of another traitor. The bodies of Chaos Marines piled up in the hallway and blood ran down the walls of the corridors. Yet the attack did not cease. Brull's warriors were willing to sacrifice many cultist lives and dozens of their own veterans just to break through the last line of defense. But when hours of fighting proved that even his elite warriors could not break the defenses, Brull decided to end the stalemate himself. The Chaos Lord pushed forward, a living embodiment of war. His armor was covered in runes sacred to Khorne, while in his hands he clutched a huge chain axe, its teeth roaring with a desire to kill. When Brull appeared before the vault, the two warriors immediately charged at each other. A brutal duel ensued, in which the fury of the World Eaters clashed with the disciplined deadly precision of the Raven Guard. Brull's strength was able to crush steel partitions and several times struck Vaan's armor so hard that it tore its plates. But Lykir refused to retreat. He dodged the devastating blows and landed one precise hit after another on his enemy. Saving the future Meanwhile, on the surface of Kawaros X, the tide was turning in the Imperium's favor. Chaos rituals had been disrupted, enemy command posts destroyed, and most of the cultist forces crushed. Astra Militarum units consolidated control of the conquered areas, while the Adepta Sororitas conducted cleansing operations against the last pockets of heresy. When the Shadow Fears commander assessed that the enemy on the moon no longer posed a significant threat and that the Imperial Guardsmen and Battle Sisters could finish the remaining battles without Astartes support, a distress call finally arrived from Silent Omen. Reports confirmed that their home ship was under attack and fighting was raging within its bowels. The decision was immediate. The Shadow Fears handed over responsibility for completing the campaign to the Astra Militarum and Sororitas forces, withdrew their units from the battlefield, and began a hasty return to orbit. Driven by fear for their brothers and the fate of Silent Omen, the entire strike force was determined to break through to the ship and save it before it was lost. The returning strike force attacked the enemy ships around Silent Omen with such ferocity and speed that the enemy were destroyed or driven into retreat. On board Silent Omen itself, the battle turned into a relentless fight for every corridor and every deck. The returning Astartes began systematically clearing their own ship of the intruders. While the company captain and his brothers fought hard in the command sections, veteran Kaer Vorthan, one of the original thirty-three survivors of Silent Omen, led a small group of brothers towards the genetic vaults. The path was lined with the dead. The corridors were littered with the bodies of World Eaters, broken weapons, and the debris of destroyed bulkheads. The closer they got to the Apothecary, the more fierce the signs of battle became. When they finally reached the last line of defense before entering the genetic archives, they were greeted by a sight that none of those present would ever forget. Lying among the bodies of fallen Chaos Marines and several of the Shadow Fears brothers lay the massive corpse of Brull, once the feared leader of the renegade warband the World Eaters. Leaning against his torn body was a badly wounded Astartes, barely conscious but still alive. It was Lykir Vaan. His armor was shattered, slashed to the ceramite in many places, and bloody wounds were visible beneath. But it was his shoulders that caught everyone's attention most. The wings of the Dark Fury unit, which had been brilliant white, were completely covered in layers of dried blood - the blood of their enemies and his own. In the dim light of the emergency lamps, it appeared to be red. Kaer Vorthan then reportedly paused for a few moments without speaking. Before him sat not just an exhausted warrior. Before him sat a brother who had defended the future of Shadow Fears with his own flesh and blood. Aftermath: The defense of the Silent Omen genetic vaults became one of the most revered events in the history of the Shadow Fears and later the Nineteen Red Ravens Chapter. Lykir Vaan survived his injuries, and his act secured him a place among the unit's greatest heroes in his lifetime. The brothers were well aware that if he had fallen then and Brull had infiltrated the Apothecarium, the genetic legacy upon which the future of their entire line rested could have been destroyed. In the years that followed, the story of the defense of the vaults spread among the new Astartes. The image of Lykir sitting among his dead enemies, his white Dark Fury wings stained with the blood of his enemies and his own, became a symbol of unwavering devotion, sacrifice, and protection of the brotherhood. When it was later decided to form a separate Chapter of the Nineteen Red Ravens, it was decided that the new Chapter would not only carry the legacy of the Raven Guard, but also a reminder of the day its future had been saved. The Mark 6 armor shoulder pads, customized for the unit, The Dark Fury, with its signature white wing markings, were adopted as the basis for each brother's armor. Their original white color was replaced with red. Not as a symbol of anger or revenge, but as a reminder of the blood shed in the Defense of the Geneline and the sacrifice of those who stood by Lykir Vaan at that time. Since then, each brother of the Nineteen Red Ravens has worn red wings on his shoulder - the eternal legacy of a warrior who defended the future of the entire chapter with his own body. Wookiee2122
First look at the models: Introducing my Corvus Strike Team I finally uploaded some photos of the finished marines to my gallery, which I'm now adding directly here. This is my finished tactical squad for the Nineteen Red Ravens chapter, which I call the Corvus Strike Team internally. From a modeling perspective, this is probably a wild kitbash. As a base, I used the bodies of the marines in the MkVI Corvus armor from the Horus Heresy box set. But to achieve exactly the look I had in mind, I combined them with 3D printed parts. The specific winged shoulders (repainted red), arms, backpacks and some weapons come from the print. My main goal was to create similar, dynamic poses for these guys in the MkVI armor, like the original Phobos Strike Team from Kill team. I wanted them to exude the right overflow and shadow character that is typical for my chapter at first glance. Ps: When I have more time, I'd like to take pictures of the marines individually. I would be very happy for any of your comments and constructive criticism (C&C welcome!). Let me know how you like these poses and how the matte black with red wings scheme looks on the models live. Any feedback would be very helpful! phandaal, Brother Tyler and Bloodwraith 2 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/388011-index-astartes-nineteen-red-ravens-raven-guard-successor/#findComment-6177556 Share on other sites

Wookiee2122
After the Battle of Kawaros X, it's time to reveal the very foundations of my chapter and introduce you to the legendary group known as The Twenty-Two from Isstvan V. These are the original legionnaires of the XIXth Legion, who survived the Dropsite Massacre and the subsequent six months of guerrilla hell on the planet's surface, went through a time anomaly in the Warp, and still carry a completely pure gene graft from the Great Campaign. Below you will find a complete list of their names, their original roles in the Legion, and their later fates - I would be extremely grateful for any opinions and constructive criticism (C&C welcome!), especially on the idea of slower aging due to the influence of the Warp, and which of these heroes interested you the most with their story. ************* PS: Color Annotations - The color of the character's name.Blue: The character is still alive and active in the Chapter.Red: The character was killed in action. ************* Twenty-Two From Istvaan V The Twenty-Two From Istvaan V are 22 Raven Guard Legionnaires from various companies who survived on the planet Istvaan V for over half a year after the Drop Site Massacre. They flew off the planet in a repaired Thunderhawk. Thanks to 11 Raven Guard Legionnaires who were sent to explore Istvaan V. they were rescued aboard the Strike cruiser named Silent Omen. During the return to their home planet Deliverance, the ship got stuck in warp and emerged into reality at the beginning of the 39th Millennium. These 22 Astartes became the cornerstone for the founding of a special secret Raven Guard unit - Shadow Fears. In the following decades, after several successful missions, it was decided that the unit would become the cornerstone for the founding of a new chapter of the Nineteen Red Ravens. Some of the surviving individuals held important positions of command in this chapter. Warp anomaly:The 22 Astartes, who entered the Warp in the 31st millennium and did not return until the early 39th millennium, differ from their kind in another disturbing way: since their re-emergence in reality, they have aged noticeably more slowly. Their long imprisonment in the Warp has left a subtle but permanent mark on their physiology - as if time has passed differently for them even after they have escaped the warp currents. The Apothecaries have noted that their cellular regeneration and geneseed stability exhibit anomalies that cannot be attributed to any known mutation or heresy, but nevertheless defy even the standards of their parent chapter, the Raven Guard. Of the 22 survivors, several are still alive in M42. Their vitality defies all medical expectations. They do not appear to have been corrupted by the warp—more like they carry a subtle “warp of time” that has slowed their aging without granting them true immortality. Although the Nineteen Red Ravens Chapter has drawn its gene seed directly from these original 33 survivors since its inception, the question remains whether this warp anomaly is passed down through the generations. No younger brother has yet shown similar signs of extended vitality—but both Apothecaries and Librarius admit that it will take time to answer. Some believe it was a unique consequence of long wandering through the Warp that cannot be passed on… while others argue that such a legacy can only manifest after centuries of service. Notable Space Marines 1. Seraphon Krol "Shadow Eagle" Legion Veteran Tactical Squad - Positions in the Raven Guard Legion of the 31th Millennium First Phantom Master - Positions in chapter Nineteen Red Ravens Veteran Contemptor Dreadnought - Positions in chapter Nineteen Red Ravens He came from the 44th Company of the XIXth Legion. After the massacre on Isstvan V, he became the informal leader of the twenty-two surviving Astartes who remained trapped on the planet's surface when the remnants of the Raven Guard made a desperate evacuation. During the months spent in the enemy hell, he kept the group together through iron will, tactical skill, and unwavering faith. After a dramatic escape from Istvan and return from the Warp back to reality, he was appointed commander of a formation known as the Shadow Fears. A century later, he became the first Master of the newly formed Chapter of the Nineteen Red Ravens. During a mission in M…. he was almost mortally wounded and his body was preserved in the sarcophagus of a Contemptor Dreadnought, modified for jump maneuvers. After awakening in a metal body, he renounced the title of Chapter Master. In the hangars where the Chapter stores its Dreadnoughts, it remains in a state of hibernation within its metal body. It is awakened only in times of greatest conflict, when it serves as a respected advisor and feared warrior and living witness to Istvaan. 2. Verrian Drosk (KIA) Veteran Legion Command squad, Standard bearer - Positions in the Raven Guard Legion of the 31th Millennium First Phantom Master of the Keep - Positions in chapter Nineteen Red Ravens A proud and experienced warrior, standard bearer of the 44th Raven Guard Company, which he managed to save from the burning hell of Isstvan V. This relic, steeped in the blood of the fallen and memories of betrayal, is today stored in the treasury of the Nineteen Red Ravens Chapter as one of its most sacred artifacts. Even after returning from the Warp, Drosk continued to carry the standard within the Shadow Fears unit, becoming a living symbol of perseverance and loyalty. After the founding of the Chapter, due to his military merits, leadership skills and indomitable tenacity, he was appointed Captain of the 1st Company. He fell in M40.812 during the Battle of the Manufacturing World of Haark II, when another veteran who carried the standard of the 1st Company fell by his side. Verrian, who himself had carried banners in countless battles for centuries, did not hesitate to pick up the fallen flag and continue the attack. He held this standard until the last second of his life, despite injuries and the superiority of the enemy. His life was ended by the orc boss Grambuk - but Verrian fell with the flag raised in his hands, a warrior loyal to the end. 3. Morr Caldar Legion Apothecary. Assigned to the Tactical Squad - Positions in the Raven Guard Legion of the 31th Millennium First Phantom Cheaf of the Apothecary. - Positions in chapter Nineteen Red Ravens He came from the 74th Company of the XIX. Legion. In the hell of Istvan V, Morr Caldar played a key role in the survival of his unit. His medical skills, cool mind, and unwavering discipline kept twenty-two wounded, exhausted Astartes alive in the face of hopelessness. It was he who saved several surviving Astartes on the battlefield, under fire from traitors. He also managed to take several samples of the geneseed from Istvan 5. After returning from the Warp, the Raven Guard command assigned him to participate in tests of the genetic purity of the survivors. He worked with his legion's apothecaries and the Techpriests of the Adeptus Mechanicus to confirm that their geneseed had survived centuries in the Warp untainted. His work was instrumental in the later experimental establishment of a separate unit, the Shadow Fears. After the formation of the Nineteen Red Ravens Chapter, he was appointed its first Phantom Chief Apothecary. Since then, he has guarded the Chapter's genetic heritage with the same devotion with which he once protected his brothers in the hell of Isstvan 5. 4. Ferren Raal (KIA) Legion Apothecary, Assigned to the Assault Squad - Positions in the Raven Guard Legion of the 31th Millennium Command sguad 3. Company - Positions in chapter Nineteen Red Ravens He came from the 87th Company of the XIXth Legion. During the dark months of survival on Isstvan V, Ferren Raal was an indispensable aide to Morr Caldar. His cold efficiency in the field, his ability to conduct operations and extract geneseed even in the harshest conditions, and his unwavering calmness earned him the nickname Cold Touch. He was also responsible for keeping 22 Astartes alive. After returning from the Warp, he participated in experiments related to the cultivation and analysis of the surviving geneseed, working with the Adeptus Mechanicus and the Raven Guard apothecaries. His pragmatism and courage were key in the first phase of restoring confidence in the unit. After the founding of the Nineteen Red Ravens Chapter, he was assigned to the 3rd Company Command Platoon as a veteran apothecary, where he continued to save the lives and gene-legacy of his brothers-in-arms. He fell in M40.555 during the Battle of Frowar while operating on a severely wounded veteran. He died under a volley of xenos plasma weapons. 5. Sareth Lorn (KIA) Legion Chaplain - Positions in the Raven Guard Legion of the 31th Millennium First Phantom Chief Reclusarium - Positions in chapter Nineteen Red Ravens Sareth Lorn hailed from the 57th Company of the XIX Legion, and was the spiritual pillar of the 22 surviving Astartes during the horrors of Isstvaan V. As a chaplain-legionnaire, he stood shoulder to shoulder with his brothers in the face of betrayal and death. Amidst the ashes, blood, and despair, he raised his voice to the hymns of the XIX Legion, singing the battle creed and reminding them of a goal that must not be forgotten - to survive, to avenge, and to serve. His faith and determination held the unit together as tightly as a weapon. In those darkest hours, he was a voice of hope and a warning of death to the traitors. Who betrayed the Imperium and the Emperor himself. And he was right - they survived. After returning from the Warp, Lorn served as a chaplain in the Shadow Fears unit, where he continued to shape the spirits of warriors old and young. When the Nineteen Red Ravens Chapter was officially founded, he was named its first Phantom Chief Reclusiarch—the supreme voice of faith, wrath, and vengeance. His war club became a symbol of the Chapter's resolve. And his words, spoken on the eve of each battle, became a litany whispered by the brothers before they descended from the shadows. After being gravely wounded during the battle of Guarion 12, he was placed in a stasis sarcophagus housed within the Reclusiarch. His body is intact, his Crozius resting on his chest, and the brothers believe that he will one day rise again on the day of the final battle—the day when the Chapter's shadow will be deepest. Chaplains trained by his words guide the Reclusiarch according to his teachings, but they always turn to the silent crypt, as if he might answer them at any moment. 6. Vaelus Khar Legion Tactical Marine and Librarian Consul - Positions in the Raven Guard Legion of the 31th Millennium Phantom Chief Librarian - Positions in chapter Nineteen Red Ravens Vaelus Khar was from the 41st Company of the XIX Legion, and was one of the psykers of the XIX Legion. After the Edicts of Nikaea were passed, and Corax himself banned Librarians from his legion, Vaelus was then assigned to the Tatactical Squad. During the massacre on Istvan V, in those dark hours, he ensured critical communication between the scattered squads. On the battlefield of Istvaan 5, in the chaos and bloody slaughter, despite the ban of his primarch, he again showed himself as a powerful user of Warp magic. His ability to predict the movements of the enemy, and the ability to strike fear in the hearts of traitors, often decided the survival of the entire unit and significantly contributed to the escape of the survivors from the hell of Isstvaan. After returning from the Warp, he served again in the Shadow Fears as Librarian and a member of the Command Platoon. He acted as a silent advisor, but also an attentive chronicler - he recorded in detail not only his own service in the XIX Legion, but also the events of Isstvaan V from the perspective of the survivors. His memory became the basis of the archives of the future Chapter. With the establishment of the Nineteen Red Ravens, he was appointed the first Phantom Chief Librarian, a master of war magic and guardian of the Chapter's memory. He believes that leadership must be based on discipline, clear judgment and precise planning - and this philosophy shapes every Librarian. 7. His ability to improvise from scrap materials earned him the nickname “The Screwdriver”. On Isstvaan V, he kept the armor and weapons of the 22 survivors in working order – often under fire and without resources. His greatest test of skill was repairing a crashed Thunderhawk found in the desert’s mountainous sands. Together with his brother Thuun, they were able to get the wrecked machine back up and running and prepare it for a desperate escape from the cursed planet. In the service of the Shadow Fears, he became the unit’s chief technician and equipment manager. When the Nineteen Red Ravens Chapter was formed, there was no question who would be given the title Phantom Master of the Forge. Elor Vex continues to watch over the souls of all the Chapter's machines - with a "screwdriver" in one hand and a Bolt pistol in the other. 8. During the massacre on Istvan V, his unit of Dreadnoughts was destroyed and Thuun himself was badly wounded. Apothecary Morr Caldar amputated his crushed leg and replaced it with an improvised prosthesis. Despite his handicap, he continued to repair the survivors' equipment, side by side with his brother Elor Vex. Together they restored the crashed Thunderhawk to life, which Thuun piloted in his desperate escape from the planet. In the ranks of the Shadow Fears, he was in charge of vehicle maintenance and war equipment. After the founding of the Nineteen Red Ravens Chapter, he became the right-hand man of Master of the Forge Elor Vex. After escaping the planet and returning from the Warp, he joined the Shadow Fears unit, where he held the position of veteran and reconnaissance expert. He was a living weapon of vengeance - a shadow that descended from the sky with one purpose: to kill. After returning from the Warp, he took on the role of sergeant in the Shadow Fears unit. During the Battle of Kawaros X, veteran Lykir Vaan led a heroic defense of the genetic archives aboard the Silent Omen from an overwhelming World Eaters assault. In the narrow corridors of Aphotecaria, he and his men managed to withstand overwhelming odds for many hours, and in a brutal hand-to-hand combat, personally killed the enemy commander, Chaos Lord Brull. He was severely wounded, and his armor wings were completely stained with blood, saving the Chapter's future genetic legacy, which later inspired the red wing symbol on the shoulders of the Guardians of the successor Chapter, the Nineteen Red Ravens. Although he never held an official title, he became the unit's informal strategic advisor. For Kol, war was mathematics - and he was its solver. In the hell of Istvan V, he studied the movements of traitors, analyzing their habits and looking for loopholes that the survivors could exploit. After returning from the Warp and being incorporated into the Shadow Fears, he served as a quiet but key voice in planning operations. When the Nineteen Red Ravens Chapter was founded, Daryn Kol became Phantom Master of the Rites and was appointed Captain of the 6th Company. In his new role, he was responsible not only for strategic planning, but also for upholding the Chapter's code and fighting principles. Under his leadership, the 6th Company became a model of discipline, precision, and efficiency. Kol continued to reject faith as a tool - his faith was in logic, structure, and lethal efficiency, which he carried throughout all the structures of his company and the entire Chapter. He died in M40.412 aboard the Space Hulk named Eclipse of Doom. Kol chose to stay with most of his command squad and cover the retreat of the last survivors. Thanks to his sacrifice, at least 17 Asartes of the 6th Company survived. His personal experience of survival and his firm belief in the Emperor's justice made him a natural authority for his younger brothers. He was known as a quiet but unyielding warrior who spoke with actions rather than words. He fell during the combat mission “Battle of Varantar’s Grave” M39.400-700, in the days before the founding of the Nineteen Red Ravens Chapter. At the suggestion of the Apothecarion, he was transferred to the sarcophagus of the Contemptor Dreadnought, where his consciousness and will continue to serve the Chapter. After returning from the Warp, he served as a sabotage master in the Shadow Fears unit. After the founding of the Nineteen Red Ravens Chapter, he was assigned to the 9th Company Command Squad and became an instructor for the training of future saboteurs. His methods were ruthless, but extremely effective. He was killed in M40.477 during a mission against the Word Bearers. Wookiee2122
I apologize for posting two long posts today, but it is important for me to complete the information about the entire founding Thirty-Three. Of course, I would like to focus on other topics next time. To complete the sacred number of my founders, we must look to the stars above Isstvan V. While the Twenty-Two fought for their lives on Earth, a small, unofficial reconnaissance expedition of eleven brothers aboard the cruiser Silent Omen risked everything among the wreckage of spaceships in a system destroyed by the living. Below you will find a record of these 11 saviors of the genetic line - comments and criticism are welcome as always (C&C welcome!). ************* PS: Color Annotations - The color of the character's name.Blue: The character is still alive and active in the Chapter.Red: The character was killed in action. ************* Eleven From Silent Omen The Eleven From Silent Omen are 11 Raven Guard Legionnaires who survived the massacre on Istvaan 5. A few months later, this group was sent aboard the strike cruiser Silent Omen to explore Istvaan 5 and try to find any other survivors. The mission was partially successful, as the group managed to find the Thunderhawk in orbit around Istvaan V and the 22 surviving Brothers who had managed to escape the planet. While returning to their home planet Deliverance, the ship became stuck in warp and emerged into reality at the beginning of the 39th millennium. These 11 Astartes also became the cornerstone for the founding of a special secret unit of the Raven Guard - the Shadow Fears. In the following decades, after several successful missions, it was decided that the unit would become the cornerstone for the founding of a new chapter of the Nineteen Red Ravens. Some of the surviving individuals of this group held important leadership positions within this chapter. History of the Silent Omen Mission 31th millennium - Horus HeresyThe Silent Omen mission was announced shortly after the reunification of the remnants of the XIX Raven Guard Legion after the massacre on Istvaan V. Corvus Corax, meanwhile, was focused on rebuilding the Legion, but there was unrest among his surviving officers - some hoped that a few more Brothers might survive on the surface. From this view, an initiative was born by a group of veterans, led by Vaedran Koror. They presented a proposal to the Raven Guard high command: send a reconnaissance expedition, small, fast, and independent, to search for the lost Brothers. The Primarch himself gave his consent - quietly and without official record in the archives. Thus was born the Silent Omen mission, named after the light cruiser that would carry it. The Raven Guard had been decimated after the massacre on Istvaan V, and although Corax was rebuilding the Legion's strength, the thought of returning to the world of betrayal left a bitter aftertaste. The mission was nevertheless approved – a silent acquiescence, a gesture of faith rather than a strategic decision. The expedition aboard Silent Omen was modest but determined. Just eleven Astartes – survivors from various companies of the XIX Legion – were selected from those who volunteered for the mission. A mission that was to be more of a duty than a hope. Silent Omen was to arrive in the Istvan system, conduct a system and orbital scan, and determine if there were any signs of life or signals from surviving Raven Guard legionnaires on the planet’s surface. Landing on the planet was not planned; the crew were to simply send a report in the event of silence or signals from the surface. Hide and await further orders. One reason for this approach was the fear of further traitor traps. The departure from Deliverance was without ceremony. No fanfare. Just the silence of the docks, the echo of footsteps on cold metal. A brief nod and a blessing from those who remained. The ship undocked from its anchor arms at dusk, as the city of Lycaeus sank into ashen gloom and the wind from the mines shrouded the sky. Only a few servitors watched as Silent Omen's hull disappeared into the shadow of the moon—a quiet departure in the spirit of a Legion that always acted from the shadows. Upon arrival in the Istvan system, the planet was dead silent. Silent Omen moved through scattered debris fields—the remnants of the fleets of loyal and traitorous forces that had clashed there during the massacre. The surface of Istvaan V was still shrouded in dust and radioactive storms, preventing scanners from picking up any signs or signals of survivors. The crew began sensor scans of the planet and the system. Several hours later, tactical communications specialist Relas Orven picked up a faint signal. It was an emergency transmission in Legion code—a sequence identified as the Raven Guard cipher. The signal came from a damaged Thunderhawk, which was drifting slowly in orbital drift. At first, there was distrust among the brothers on the Silent Omen—the hull bore the visual markings of the World Eaters Legion, which could have indicated an attempt at a ruse by traitors. However, after several exchanges of encrypted vox codes, it was confirmed that the Thunderhawk was in possession of the surviving Raven Guard. Twenty-two Astartes who had managed to hide and escape from the surface after the betrayal. Once the connection was verified, Silent Omen performed an approach maneuver and opened the dock. When the brothers finally met, neither spoke—only silence and mutual glances between the eleven and twenty-two Legionnaires. All those who survived the impossible, it linked their destinies forever. The commander of the Silent Omen mission, Vaedran Koror, a seasoned Raven Guard veteran, considered continuing the search after finding twenty-two survivors. The discovery of a Thunderhawk full of brothers who had survived the horrors of Istvaan 5 for another 6 months had rekindled his hope – if they had survived the horrors of Istvaan 5, others might have survived too. The preliminary scans of the planet showed only radioactive silence. But in time, perhaps some more signals would be discovered. The commander of the Silent Omen wanted to stay in the system longer, to resume exploration and map more wreckage of loyalist ships. There was even discussion of forming a small landing party to search for the hidden brothers. The order to return had not yet come – the mission was completely isolated, relying on its own judgment and courage. However, their decision-making was interrupted by the sudden arrival of several vessels that emerged from behind the wreckage of former fleets. The sensors showed the desecrated insignia of the Word Bearers and the Dark Mechanic's escort vessels. Silent Omen was on full combat alert due to the danger of the mission and immediately switched to defensive fire, but the enemy's numerical superiority was overwhelming. The enemy ships tried to outflank them. The crew quickly understood that if they stayed, they would be cut off. The captain decided not to seek battle - the goal of the mission was not to fight, but to survive and bring the truth about the survivors of Istvaan V.. Silent Omen returned fire and tactically maneuvered through the debris until a short window of escape opened. Despite minor damage to the shields and navigation matrix, the ship held steady. Aware of the risk, the captain gave the order to jump into the Warp - without full pre-planning, but with the accurate judgment of an experienced Navigator. The warp drives activated, the space around the ship began to twist and disintegrate into dazzling flashes. As the thunder of enemy fire drew within range, the Silent Omen suddenly disappeared in a glow of unreality, escaping the trap - without anyone on board suspecting that with this leap they would escape not only the battle, but also their own time. Warp… 2 months? 8,000 years! The Warp – a living ocean of emotion, thought and endless madness – had long been a place no mortal should look into for too long. To the Astartes, it was merely a means of travel. When the Silent Omen set out on its desperate voyage, its crew had no idea that they would be crossing the boundaries of time and understanding. The first days were peaceful – the sensors showed a steady course, the Navigator reported normal warp currents. But with each passing day, small certainties began to disappear: voice recordings occasionally echoed from the empty corridors, data terminals turned on by themselves and a low, pulsating sound, reminiscent of a heartbeat, echoed in the cabins. The walls of the ship seemed to breathe, shadows on the metal plates occasionally moved. Space visually shrank or expanded. The brothers began to have dreams that repeated themselves – always the same image, a black sky full of ash-covered wings and a distant voice speaking their names. No one spoke of them aloud, yet everyone knew they had the same dream. Time on the Silent Omen had become flexible, flowing differently. Days merged, sleep and wakefulness lost their meaning. Yet none of the crew had changed—no obsession, no deformation, no signs of warp corruption. When, after two months of human perception and the ship’s timekeeping, they finally emerged from the unreality, they found a world they had not recognized. The ship was intact, the records clean, the bodies unaged—and yet several thousand years had passed. 39th millenniumWhen Silent Omen finally broke through the depths of the Warp and its sensors picked up the Deliverance's navigation beacon, a wave of relief and celebration erupted aboard. The brothers believed their mission was over - that after two months of silence they were returning home to surrender the geneseed of the fallen and rejoin the Legion. But the communications protocols were not responding, the identification codes were rejected as obsolete by thousands of years. It was only after several days of contact with orbital stations and a personal encounter with a modern Raven Guard airborne unit that they understood that they had returned to a world that was no longer theirs. Confusion and silent wonder reigned on Deliverance. Thirty-three Astartes descended from Silent Omen, clad in black MK6 armor from the time of the Horus Heresy, bearing the insignia of the defunct Legion - perfect relics of the past, breathing myths that had long since passed into history. For the current Raven Guard brothers, it was like seeing ghosts that refused to die. And for the returnees themselves, it was a moment of pain and disruption – the Emperor had sat like a statue on a golden throne for thousands of years, Corax had disappeared, Horus had fallen, and the Legion they had sworn allegiance to had been shattered into hundreds of smaller chapters – all they had known, all they had fought for, now existed only in legends and incomplete archives. For the 33rd Astartes, a long period of interrogation, genetic testing, research and interrogation followed. All under the watchful eye of the Raven Guard’s Reclusiarm, Librarius and Apothecarion. A small investigation was conducted by the Imperial Inquisition itself. Only after long months was it confirmed that their geneseed was pure, their minds intact and their loyalty unshakeable. And so ended the Silent Omen mission... Aftermath The thirty-three men torn from time by the Warp were given a new place in a world that had long forgotten them. A hundred years later, by the will of the Raven Guard command, under the supervision of the Adeptus Machanicum and the secret surveillance of the Ordo Hereticus, a separate unit was formed - the Shadow Fears. Brothers lost in time, now called to serve again. Their oath remained the same as before.: "For Corax! For the Imperium!!For revenge!!!" After the founding of the Nineteen Red Ravens Chapter, the three oldest Librarians - led by Vaelus Khare - began to investigate strange deviations in the dream psychic waves of those who had returned aboard the Silent Omen. It was not possession, nor a trace of contamination. More like an echo - an invisible imprint that appeared in their dreams and meditations. As if their minds were touched by something that could not be named. The Librarium kept this fact a secret even from the Chapter command. In his writings, he speaks of a "silent presence" or "dream presence" that has never manifested as a threat, but has never disappeared either. Some whisper that this entity may have protected Silent Omen from the dark powers of the warp, guided them safely through the warp, and held back the flow of time. Could it be the Emperor himself? Or perhaps Corax himself, who disappeared into the warp millennia ago - and then protected his sons from the darkness of the warp? Or worse, some dark warp entity that has not yet manifested its evil intentions? Could something truly be holding the 33 lost souls in the storm, unreal, remains the question. Warp anomaly:The 11 Astartes, who entered the Warp in the 31st millennium and did not return until the early 39th millennium, differ from their kind in another disturbing way: since their re-emergence in reality, they have aged noticeably more slowly. Of the 11 survivors, only one is still alive in M42. He was among the lucky few who evacuated with Corax from Istvan 5. A few months later, he personally volunteered for a mission aboard the Light Cruiser Silent Omen. He considered this mission a duty to his fallen brothers who remained on the surface. Korr was quiet, direct, and deeply disciplined. Aboard the Silent Omen, he served as a commander, his authority among his brothers unshakable. After returning from the Warp, Vaedran Korr was one of those who had the hardest time adjusting to the changed times and world. Everything he knew—the brothers, the legions, the Emperor's Dream—had crumbled to dust long before they arrived. Yet he had become one of the pillars of the newly formed Shadow Fears. His discipline and sense of duty helped hold the unit together when others were falling into doubt. He was unyielding, stern, but fair. For him, there was no "giving up"—only "holding on." Korr became a natural deputy to Captain Seraphon Krol, often leading the unit's smaller strike operations, during which he became renowned as a master of coordinated ambushes and encirclements. After the founding of the Nineteen Red Ravens Chapter, Vaedran Korr was appointed First Phantom Master of the Keep, captain of the 1st Company. His company became a symbol of steadfastness and brotherhood. Korr reshaped the Chapter's fortress doctrine—he saw defense not as a static position, but as a network of living points capable of immediate counterattack. In his eyes, defense was a form of patient offense—and his brothers learned to fight and die accordingly. Vaedran Korr fell in M39.892 during the defense of Citadel Kuthren on the planet Sibiss 7 when a fleet of Word Bearers attempted an invasion. He personally led the final counterattack in the outer tunnels of the citadel, where he encountered the dark apostle Neplehan Draknor. Though gravely wounded, he activated the citadel's self-destruct sequence, burying the entire assault force beneath the rubble. His final words, transmitted via vox, became a legend of the Chapter: "The shadows of the fortress will not fall while the last Raven breathes." In memory of his sacrifice, the First Company is nicknamed Korr's Guard—the Chapter's elite shield and a symbol of boundless loyalty. 2. Apothecary Jareth Sorn (KIA) Legion Apothecary in Assault Squad - Positions in the Raven Guard Legion of the 31th Millennium. Apothecary in Command sguad 3. Company - Positions in chapter Nineteen Red Ravens. He came from 77th Company of the XIXth Legion. Apothecary Jareth Sorn came from 77th Company of the XIXth Legion, where he served as a combat medic in the assault unit. He was distinguished by his extraordinary diligence and calm, which he was able to maintain even in the harshest battles. On Istvan V, he became the last surviving Apothecary of his platoon. As the remaining brothers fell one by one, Jareth treated the wounded with unwavering calm, often working in the mud and blood. Aboard the Silent Omen, Sorn became the main authority on medical care and geneseed supervision. His dedication bordered on fanaticism - records indicate that he refused to regenerate his own physical damage until the geneseed of all his fallen brothers had been secured. The laboratory aboard the Silent Omen was transformed into a silent sanctuary; above each geneseed box hung the name of the fallen and a piece of their armor. Jareth was said to speak to these relics, as if he could still hear their voices. After returning from the Warp, he joined the Shadow Fears organization, where he became the chief protector of the gene heritage and symbolic guardian of memory. He was at the service of the chief apothecary, Morr Caldar. When the Nineteen Red Ravens Chapter was founded. His obsession with the purity of the Corax geneline deepened - he saw it as a sacred task and constantly warned against the possibility of "blood tainting". He died (009.M40) during the first days of fighting on Planet Guarion 12, defending the gene pool of his fallen brothers from an attack by Drukhr raiders. He refused to retreat and remained in the pits. His brothers found only charred armor and intact boxes of geneseed samples after the battle - proof that Jareth Sorn had fulfilled his promise. 3. Kalith Marr (KIA) Legion Techmarine - Positions in the Raven Guard Legion of the 31th Millennium. First Phantom Guard of Wheels - Positions in chapter Nineteen Red Ravens. Kalith Marr came from the 122nd Company of the XIX. He saw machines as living organisms. He said that "every machine has its own rhythm, its own pulse, and if you listen to it, it will respond to you." On Isstvan V, he commanded several armored vehicles that covered the retreat of the XIX Legion infantry. When all his tanks were destroyed, armed only with a service axe and a bolt pistol, he proudly cut through enemy lines. After returning to Deliverance, Marr volunteered for a mission aboard the Silent Omen - partly out of responsibility, but mainly because he wanted to see again the wreckage of the machines he had left behind on Istvaan V. On the ship, he held the position of Chief Technician and Armory Manager. He was a man of few words, but his presence was felt throughout the ship—every component, every valve, and every weapon system worked more precisely than the Mechanicum specifications dictated. When the Shadow Fears unit was formed, it was Marr, along with Elor Vex and Jarek Thuun, who kept the unit's technology running. After the founding of the Nineteen Red Ravens Chapter, Marr was chosen as the first Phantom Guard of Wheels—a title that symbolized his oversight of all the Chapter's ground-based machines, especially tanks. His relationship to the machines was almost spiritual: he considered them companions in battle, not tools. He died in M40.199 during the siege of the Tarkess Reach fortress when his command tank, the "Red Corvus," was hit. Instead of retreating, he remained in the cockpit, manually diverting the overpressure, saving dozens of his brothers in the escort platoon. His body was never found. 4. Corvath Nel (KIA) Saergant Tactical Squad - Librarian Consul - Positions in the Raven Guard Legion of the 31th Millennium. Member of Command Squad 6. Company - Positions in chapter Nineteen Red Ravens. Hailing from the 103rd Company of the XIX Legion, he was known from his earliest days as a quiet, focused psyker with an uncanny ability to read the silence between words and the movement in the shadows. After Corax banned Librarians from his Legion, he was reassigned to the Tactical Squad. At the time of the Isstvan V massacre, he commanded a small group of Tactical Squads that covered the retreat of Corax's party. After returning to Deliverance, Nel changed. His visions became darker - he spoke of "soul remnants" that remained on Istvaan V, echoes of the fallen that were said to call from the ashes. When the Silent Omen was announced as a reconnaissance mission, he volunteered, saying that he must finish what Corax had started. Aboard, he served as a Warp Navigator, where his psychic abilities kept the ship out of the deadly currents of the unreal. To the crew, he was a calm voice in the madness, a spiritual guide who understood fear and loss. It was said that his presence silenced even the whispers of the Warp. When the Silent Omen reappeared in real space centuries later, Corvath Nel remained with his brothers and later became one of the 33 founders of the Shadow Fears. Even after the founding of the Nineteen Red Ravens Chapter, he was revered as a mystic whose knowledge of the Warp surpassed even some of the Inquisitors of the Ordo Hereticus. Nel could blend into shadow so perfectly that even the sensors of his enemies registered only "emptiness." It was said that when he cast his power, the space around him became denser and the light refracted, as if reality itself rejected his presence. His cold discipline and spiritual calm in the midst of any bloody inferno could save dozens of brothers who would otherwise have fallen. He died in the year M40.412 aboard the Space Hulk Eclipse of Doom while attempting to seal a warp rift that had opened in one of the sections of the destroyed wreck. Before his death, he sealed the minds of all 17 of his surviving brothers to protect them from madness. After the Space Hulk exploded, his voice was said to whisper in the ether for days, "The shadows are silent... because they are listening." 5. Meron Fal (KIA) Chaplain Consul - Positions in the Raven Guard Legion of the 31th Millennium. Member of Command Squad 6. Company - Positions in chapter Nineteen Red Ravens. Meron Fal hailed from the 118th Company of the XIX. On Isstvan V, he led a small band of brothers who protected the wounded during the retreat of Corax's advance. His voice, quiet and sure even amidst the fire and ash, could calm the last remnants of panic and melt it into holy anger. Fal was not a preacher to large gatherings—he was a spiritual warrior, walking in the mud and blood alongside his brothers to remind them that even in the shadows, the Emperor's flame remained. Upon his return to Deliverance, he volunteered for the Silent Omen mission not out of duty, but out of faith. He argued that the souls of the fallen of Istvan could find no peace until their brothers returned to the place of their doom. Aboard the ship, he served as both a spiritual guide and moral anchor—he often spoke of the "loud silence of the Warp" he perceived in his prayers. When the Silent Omen disappeared into the abyss of a time anomaly, Fal became one of the few who kept the crew sane and confident in their return. His sermons became the basis for several later Chapter litanies. After returning from the Warp, he served in the Shadow Fears, and after the founding of the Nineteen Red Ravens, he accepted the role of Chaplain to the 6th Company, accompanying Captain Daryn Kol on many campaigns. His faith became the glue that held his brothers together even in the face of the madness of war. He died in M40.412 aboard the Space Hulk Eclipse of Doom, while covering the retreat of the rest of the 6th Company with Librarian Corvath Nel. His last words, captured in the ether, were: "There is no fear in the darkness, only the echo of the Emperor's breath." 6. Kael Dureth (KIA) Veteran Tactical Squad - Positions in the Raven Guard Legion of the 31th Millennium. First Phantom Master of the Marches, Captain of the 5. Company. - Positions in chapter Nineteen Red Ravens. Kael Dureth was one of the eldest sons of Lycaeus, the original home of Corvus Corax. He was a member of the first generation of legionaries of the XIX Legion, personally formed by the Primarch himself. Dureth was a symbol of discipline, patience, and deep tactical thinking. During the Great Crusade, he served as an instructor for new companies, teaching them the art of infiltration and movement in silence. During the massacre of Istvan V, he commanded part of the 45th Company, leading the remnants of his men through the burning plains and rubble until he lost contact with the main force. Even in the midst of despair, he remained calm - as he himself used to say, "A raven must not fall into the storm, it must survive it." After the Legion returned to Deliverance, Kael volunteered for a mission aboard the Silent Omen. He believed that returning to Istvan was not madness, but a moral duty – to understand what had become of their brothers and find those who might have survived. After returning to reality and founding the Shadow Fears unit, Dureth was one of the candidates for supreme command. He was eventually appointed its tactical master. He felt that the burden of supreme command should be taken by someone else, he felt like a mentor to his younger brothers. His methods became the basic doctrine of the unit – silent advance, precision, strike without emotion. When the Nineteen Red Ravens Chapter was founded, Dureth was rightfully promoted to the rank of Phantom Master of the Marches and became captain of the 5th Company. He fell in M40.173 during the "Black Dust Fall" Campaign on the desert planet Keiavalorn, where he led his company against the raiders of demonic forces from the warp. The battle lasted three days without a break, and Dureth was on the front lines until the end—not for glory, but because he refused to abandon his wounded brothers in the ruins of the defensive wall. When he was found, he was still clutching his bolter and holding the shattered helmet of one of his fallen men. He died as he had lived—silently, in the dust, among those he had led. His body was left in the desert dust, and his belongings buried in the crypts on Guranion 12, with his last words engraved on his tombstone: “A raven must not forget where its shadow falls.” 7. Erios Maen (KIA) Sergeant Tactical Squad - Positions in the Raven Guard Legion of the 31th Millennium. First Phantom Master of the Watch, Captain of the 2. Company - Positions in chapter Nineteen Red Ravens. Erios Maen hailed from the 71st Company of the XIX Legion and was already known as a master of infiltration and silent killing during the Great Crusade. On Istvan V, he led a small squad of legionnaires who remained behind enemy lines for weeks after being betrayed. He ambushed supply convoys, laid traps and dismantled fortifications, and killed traitors one by one. As Corax's forces withdrew, Maen remained behind to cover their retreat. His people no longer saw him as human - he became a shadow, moving among the rubble and blood, unseen and unheard. After returning to Delivrance, he volunteered for the Silent Omen mission, acting as the infiltration operations commander aboard the ship. After returning from the Warp, he became a pillar of the Shadow Fears unit, where he led training in silent operations and infiltration. His fighting style was surgical and emotionless, his presence commanding respect even among his officers. Maen was a man who considered silence the highest form of devotion - he used to say that "In the dark, there are no words, only deeds." When the Nineteen Red Ravens Chapter was founded, Maen was appointed the first Phantom Master of the Watch, taking over the chapter's defenses, its warning systems. Under his leadership, the 2nd Company became an elite force in the defense of fortresses, night raids. His brothers said of him that he "never sleeps - he just waits until darkness comes." He died in M40.226 during Operation "Silent Mercy" on the ruins of the moon Kaharis V. In the final stages of the battle, he faced the mad World Eaters champion Gorovath Boron - a giant warrior who wore the bones of his victims attached to his armor. Maen faced him with cold precision, dodging his blows and delivering the blows like a surgeon. When severely wounded, he did not retreat. With his last strength, he stabbed Gorvath with his own chainsword and then bled to death. His death was not noisy - just quiet, dignified and wordless, just as he had been all his life. 8. Brann Kelvos (KIA) Veteran Devastator Squad - Positions in the Raven Guard Legion of the 31th Millennium. First Phantom Master of the Arsenal, Captain of the 3. Company - Positions in chapter Nineteen Red Ravens. Brann Kelvos came from the 127th Company of the XIX. Legion, and was one of those marines who believed that the strength of a marksman lay in calm, not in fury. As a heavy-armored devastator, he was renowned for his unerring accuracy and ability to maintain fire even in the most chaotic conditions. On Istvan V, his heavy bolter literally tore through the sky—covering the retreat of several units until his weapon melted in the heat. As the others sought cover, Kelvos stood in the open, sheltered only by the shadow of the rubble and the belief that as long as his brothers breathed, his weapon must speak. On board the Silent Omen, he served as the weapons keeper. His relationship with Techmarine Kalith Marr was a mixture of respect and friendly rivalry—together they kept the ship in combat readiness and had endless debates about the accuracy, efficiency, and spirit of the machine. Kelvos was a pedant—he knew the serial number of every weapon, as well as when it had last been blessed. To the brothers of Silent Omen, he was a sure-fire symbol—a symbol of strength that protects from afar when all else fails. After returning from the Warp and founding the Shadow Fears, he took over the heavy weapons and fire structures. When the Nineteen Red Ravens Chapter was founded, he became the first Phantom Master of the Arsenal, responsible for all armories, heavy support units, and devastaters, and was also an instructor in ranged combat. He believed that the discipline of the weapon reflected the discipline of the soul. He died in M40.312 during the siege of Fort Varakonn on the edge of the Gathan Sector. The 3rd Company of the Nineteen Red Ravens was called upon to defend the fort from a World Eaters raid. During a battle with the warp beasts, he was buried under rubble after remaining on the ramparts and personally manning the heavy cannons to hold off the enemy advance. His brothers later reported that even after the wall collapsed, the fire from his post continued for several minutes - the final proof that Brann Kelvos never stopped fighting. He was known for his words: "The blood of Corax will not fade as long as my will flows in it." 9. Lykor Thane Assault Squad - Positions in the Raven Guard Legion of the 31th Millennium. Nineteen red ravens Chapter Champion - Positions in chapter Nineteen Red Ravens. Lykor Thane was the embodiment of the fierce spirit of the Raven Legion - a warrior who never looked back. He came from the 182nd Company of the XIXth Legion. He fought on Istvan V until the very last moments, when most of his unit collapsed under the fire of the traitors. With a broken jump pack, he threw himself into the midst of the World Eaters crowd several times, armed only with a sword and grenades. After the battle, he was a role model among those who miraculously survived and refused to surrender - a spark of fanatical determination was born in his eyes that never left him. When the Silent Omen expedition was formed on Deliverance, he was one of the first to volunteer. He saw this mission not as an order, but as a purification - a journey back to the world of betrayal, where he had left a piece of his own soul. After returning from the Warp, he became an indispensable member of the Shadow Fears unit, where his ferocity in battle contrasted with an unexpected wisdom and understanding for his brothers - he was both a warrior and a protector of the unit's spirit. He became a symbol of courage and steadfastness, constantly training, leading others in combat simulations and reminding them that their task was not only to survive, but to keep the flame of anger and revenge alive. When the Nineteen Red Ravens Chapter was founded, Lykor Thane was unanimously named Chapter Champion - the living sword of the Chapter. His fighting style became legendary: fast, deadly, almost dancing. Thane is now considered a relic from the Legion era, but also an eternal fire, a reminder that the blood of Istvaan 5 will never cool. He fights in black MkVI armor with reliefs of broken wings, carries the Chainsword "Phantom's Oath" and a jump pod decorated with the names of the fallen. As he enters battle, his brothers whisper his name—not as a greeting, but as an oath that the shadows of the past still watch. 10. Relas Orven (KIA) Tactical Squad - Positions in the Raven Guard Legion of the 31th Millennium. First Phantom Chief Victualler, Captain of the 7. Company - Positions in chapter Nineteen Red Ravens. Relas Orven came from the 51st Company of the XIX Legion and was among those Astartes who could transform the chaos of battle into the harmony of order. He was an exceptional tactician and coordinator—his mind functioning like a living network, able to connect even the most distant units in the inferno of fire. During the massacre on Istvan V, he managed to maintain communication between three scattered squads for several hours, despite interference, energy surges, and radioactive dust that destroyed most of the radios. It was then that he became known among his brothers as the “Loud Silence”—a man who was silent but could transmit hope through the noise of the signal. Aboard the Silent Omen, he took charge of the ship’s communications and sensory systems. His calm authority and analytical mind made him the backbone of the entire expedition. He perceived every signal interruption, every deviation from course, every noise in the vox network as a warning - technical, but also spiritual. He claimed that "in the silence of the machine the spirit of war speaks". It was thanks to him that the Thunderhawk was found in orbit around Instvaan 5, with 22 surviving Brothers on board. After returning from the Warp and being integrated into the Shadow Fears unit, he worked as an intelligence and communications officer. He led operations during which the unit learned to fight in complete isolation, without support, with only guesswork and intuition - because that, he used to say, is the true nature of a raven. After the founding of the Nineteen Red Ravens Chapter, he was appointed Phantom Chief Victualler and Captain of the 7th Company, where he was responsible for the supply, logistics and communications chains of the entire chapter. He was precise, strict and almost obsessively meticulous - all the records of his company were kept with such consistency that they served as a model for others. He died in M40.468 during the "Battle for Morers Point" campaign, where 7th Company was tasked with resupplying other units. 7th Company's flagship, the "Ravens Memory," was the target of a surprise attack by World Eaters ships hidden in the debris of an orbital ring. Orven personally took command of the ship's defenses and led a counterattack for three hours under constant fire. When it became clear that the ship would not survive, he ordered the evacuation of the crew and all the Brothers. He ordered a collision course - destroying the enemy's flagship with a head-on collision, opening the way for the main Chapter forces. The last entry from his vox channel reads: "The resupply will not stop. As long as the raven breathes, or until the wings break." 11. Taler Nyn (KIA) Tactical Squad - Positions in the Raven Guard Legion of the 31th Millennium. The first Phantom Master of the Rites. Captain of the 6. Company - Positions in chapter Nineteen Red Ravens. Taler Nyn was from the 111th Company of the XIXth Legion - a warrior whose faith was as strong as the steel of his bolter. Even before the massacre on Istvan, he was known for his unwavering belief that the Emperor and Corax were not just leaders, but ideals that must be protected even at the cost of his own life. He was more of a silent man, proving his faith through actions rather than words. On Istvaan V, he fought alongside his brothers until the very last moments, when the Legion's retreat turned into survival beyond human limits. The loss of friends and the witness of betrayal left a deep mark on him - his faith became both an anchor and a burden as he searched in the darkness of Istvaan V for answers. Why the Emperor had allowed their blood to stain the black clay. After the Silent Omen mission and his return from the Warp, Taler was one of the first to join the newly formed Shadow Fears. His belief in Corax as a symbol of rebirth after betrayal earned him the respect of all his brothers. He served alongside Chaplain Meron Fal as his silent assistant—a man who led prayers for the fallen, kept the names of the lost, and reminded them that every bolter strike was meant to sound like a confession. He never accepted the role of chaplain, knowing that he was not as skilled with words as his other brothers. When the Nineteen Red Ravens Chapter was founded, Taler Nyn was appointed the first Phantom Master of the Rites, captain of the 6th Company. Under his command, the company became a symbol of both spiritual and military discipline—brothers who fought with cold devotion, reciting prayers for the fallen before they fired the first shot. Taler died in M40.277 in the "Battle of Eclisian Gate" on the border of the Myrienien subsector, while his company held off an army of cultists and demons until civilians were evacuated. The last words his brothers heard over the vox were: "Faith is not a word. Faith is stepping forward, even when you know you will fall." Wookiee2122
Today I want to introduce you to the Librarius of the Nineteen Red Ravens Chapter, commanded by one of the last living witnesses of Isstvan V. The Chapter Librarians are not just war "wizards"; they are the guardians of the collective memory of the entire brotherhood, who have developed a unique psychic discipline. Below you will find a complete overview of the functioning of the library, details about Vaelus Khar, and a breakdown of all six unique psychic abilities that these shadowy mystics wield - I would be extremely grateful for any opinions, comments, and constructive criticism (C&C welcome!), especially how you like the story approach of these specific disciplines!PS: I would especially like advice on how these individual disciplines and skills could best be transformed into real game rules. The Librarius Vaelus Khar Phantom Chief Librarian Epistolary Codicier Lexicanium Acolytum Chapter Serfs Librarian Servitors The Librarius of the Nineteen Red Ravens is not only the center of war magic, but also the guardian of the Chapter's history, collective memory, and spiritual legacy. Led by Phantom Chief Librarian Vaelus Khar, one of the original survivors of Istvaan V, this unit is dedicated to developing the unique psychic discipline of Shadow Memory and ensuring that the power of the Warp is used with discretion, respect, and service to the Chapter. Here, the Librarians study the records of battles, the knowledge and memories of the Brothers, and the deep streams of consciousness left behind by the fallen. The Librarius is a place of silence, meditation, and psychic anchorage, where every word, memory, and thought is recorded as a whisper into eternity. Vaelus Khar First Phantom Chief Librarian After the founding of the Nineteen Red Ravens Chapter, Vaelus Khar became its first Phantom Chief Librarian. As one of the few surviving psykers from Istvaan V, he carried the burden of memory for generations. He created the Chapter's Librarian Order and built the Sanctum Mentis - a place of training, meditation, and archiving the memories of the fallen. His approach was strict, based on discipline, the study of history, and mastery of one's own mind.Vaelus was known as a quiet but influential advisor. He spoke little in the Chapter's council, but always with the weight of a prophet. He raised new Librarians with an emphasis on responsibility and inner peace, and each Codicier had to pass not only tests of power, but also a confrontation with the Chapter's past. He believed that leadership came from clear judgment, not emotion. As the Chapter's living archive, he collected the testimonies, dreams, and dying words of the Marines. He believed that no death was in vain if it was kept in memory – and it was from these fragments that he formed the chronicles that became the holy texts of the Chapter. His personal book – the so-called “Memory of Istvaan” – is locked in a glass crypt, accessible only to Librarians, Chaplains and Apothecaries. After the Chapter was founded, he rarely appeared on the battlefield. When he did, it was at times of greatest threat. His presence embodied the spirit of the collective mind. While he could use offensive destructive magic, his psychic abilities were focused on dismantling enemy morale, blocking the rituals of traitors and reading the thoughts of captives. When an answer to corrupted magic was needed, he brought it with cold precision. He was not only a war mage, but also the guardian of the memory and conscience of the Nineteen Red Ravens. Chapter History The Nineteen Red Ravens Chapter Library, housed in the cloisters of Sanctum Mentis, preserves the entire history of the Brotherhood. It begins with the records of the survivors of Istvaan V, who formed the Shadow Fears unit after a long journey through the Warp, and continues with the events leading up to the official founding of the Chapter. It chronicles the first tests of loyalty, integration into the structures of the Empire, and the key decisions that shaped the Chapter as we know it today. The library contains detailed records of the most significant battles. In addition to tactical data, personal testimonies of marines are also preserved, showing how individual events affected the mind and spirit of the Chapter. The emphasis is not only on victory, but also on the lessons learned from heavy losses. A special place in the library is occupied by a collection called The Memory of Istvaan, written by Vaelus Khare. This collection of testimonies, memories, and prophecies forms the heart of the Chapter's identity. In addition, secret texts intended only for librarians and chaplains are kept here - they discuss warp phenomena, suspicions of Chaos influence, or possible changes in the geneseed. The entire library serves as a memory, a warning, and an inspiration to all brothers who fight in the name of the Emperor and their fallen ancestors. Disciplines Shadowmnémis Discipline Memory as a weapon. Shadow as a shelter. Silence as eternity. A psychic discipline developed by the Librarians of the Nineteen Red Ravens Chapter, combining mystical elements from the Obscuration disciplines (Raven Guard) with a unique spiritual philosophy based on the collective memory of the fallen. The Red Ravens Librarians believe that the souls of fallen brothers linger in the shadows of battle and can be summoned, heard, and used through the power of the Warp. This school of magic is therefore both offensive and defensive: it allows you to manipulate perception, darken the mind of the enemy, and at the same time call upon the reflections of your fallen brothers, their memories, fears, and determination. Shadow Memory Discipline Abilities: 1. Shadow Remembrance The Librarian touches a break in the Warp and summons a reflection of a fallen brother—a shadowy echo of his last action, cry, or movement. This flash of the past can be projected onto the battlefield to disorient an enemy, remind a unit of their objective, or guide a brother in doubt. The shadow that appears is not a ghost in the true sense of the word—it is an imprint of memory, materialized by force of will. Sometimes it leaves behind words, sometimes just a silent look. But it always reminds them that memory is not dead. 2. Shadows of the Past With this ability, the Librarian spreads a field of distorted reality around him, drawing those around him into a sense of reenactment. Enemies suddenly feel as if they are fighting the same battle all over again—losing track of time, repeating mistakes, hesitating where they should have attacked. In the eyes of the weaker, the past begins to blend with the present, and those who carry guilt or trauma in their hearts can be completely paralyzed. For the brothers of the Chapter, on the contrary, it acts as an empowerment - they hear old voices, see fallen comrades, and are reminded of why they fight. 3. Footsteps of the Fallen The Librarian temporarily connects his and his brothers' minds with the collective memory of the fallen - the result is a surge of intuition, coordination and an almost supernatural perception of the battle space. The brothers feel as if they are walking on a well-trodden path, as if someone ahead of them knows exactly where to put their foot, where to aim their weapon. This ability is often activated during infiltration missions, sabotage, or fighting in chaotic environments where direct command fails. It is not direct guidance - but rather the feeling that someone has walked the same path... and that the path is not over yet. 4. Echo of the Oath Old promises still ring in the shadows. With this ability, the Librarian summons a psychic echo of a vow made long ago by a fallen brother - an oath of revenge, loyalty, or anger. These words connect with the minds of his comrades, creating a shared mental resonance - something between a litany and an armor. The effects range from increasing resistance to completely eliminating fear. For strong brothers, this echo encourages them, for broken ones it can turn it into a new flame. However, the oath is not always heard pure - sometimes despair also hides in the shadows. 5. Memory Obscuration While other forces rely on the transfer of memories, this ability is reversed - the Librarian specifically strikes the enemy's mind and tears out a key moment. Loss of orientation, disappearance of knowledge of command, forgetting the task - each blow of erased memory can mean chaos in the enemy's ranks. This power is silent, subtle, yet effective—the enemy suddenly has no memory of where they are or why they are holding a weapon. Those who survive sometimes claim that “someone has taken their inner light.” 6. The Whispering Crypt The Librarian plunges into the silence of the shadows and briefly opens a mental channel to the collective memory of the fallen brothers of the Chapter. His voice joins with the voices of those who are no longer there—and through this unity, he becomes an instrument of the ancient will. This ability is often called upon at the most critical moments: when lines are broken, faith wavers, and the brothers stand on the brink of defeat. The whispers of the crypts that pass through them are not audible to the ear—but each warrior feels himself lifted, his hand strengthened, and the power of those who have fallen… but never gone. Psychic artifacts Crown of Shadows: is an ancient Librarian helmet dating back to the Raven Guard Legion, which enhances the wearer's ability to manipulate shadows and confuse the enemy. It grants short-term invisibility and makes it difficult for enemies to attack, making it ideal for infiltration operations and eliminating key targets. Light Mirror Fragments: Are small crystals that enhance the ability to see into the future and reveal hidden threats. The wearer is able to plan and sense the direction of battle more accurately, providing a tactical advantage and warning of danger. Heart of the Damned: Is a dangerous amulet pulsing with warp energy that temporarily enhances the wearer's psychic abilities, but threatens to disrupt their mental balance. It is used exceptionally and with great caution as a weapon of last resort against the forces of Chaos. Orb of Eternal Fire: Is a small orb that never goes out and serves as a symbol of hope and perseverance. It enhances the wearer's psychic abilities, protecting them from exhaustion and allowing them to maintain concentration even in the longest of engagements. Shadow Eye Gaze: An amulet that allows the wearer to briefly read the thoughts and intentions of their enemies. Its power helps to detect betrayal, deception and psychic threat, making it a valuable tool for both investigation and combat. Chaos Fragment: The remnant of a destroyed warp artifact, used to amplify devastating psychic attacks. Despite its impure origins, the Chapter holds it as a means to combat Chaos with its own power. Shining Ring of the Phoenix: An ancient ring set with a warp crystal that protects the wearer from psychic attacks. It serves as a powerful defense against the influence of the Warp, especially attacks on the mind and will of the Astartes. Thareon's Silent Helm: It is sanctified with the ashes of the fallen of Castle Sourstone. Its inner layers have been irreversibly altered by the psychic echo of the last battle—faint scratches, invisible to the naked eye, are said to still vibrate with the whispers of dead brothers. Librarians believe that the helmet functions as a point in the memory field Thareon created upon his death, and that whoever wears it can momentarily see the shadows of the fallen and hear their voices in a language of images and feelings. It is used only during the highest initiation rites, when the Librarian candidate must face the silent truth of the price of loyalty—and survive in spirit the weight of memory this relic carries. Faceless Mirror: A forbidden psionic focus kept deep within the isolated vault of the Nineteen Red Ravens Chapter Library, sealed by the seal of three Librarians. The artifact takes the form of an oval, darkly shiny plate resembling blackened glass, on whose surface nothing is reflected - only shadowy echoes of other people's memories. According to legend, it retains the imprint of the soul of Vekar Teralith, who burned everything, including himself, in his last mission with a single burst of psychic energy. The mirror has the ability to reveal not only past thoughts and actions, but also fragments of potential memory - the memories of those who are yet to come. Its use is dangerous: it can break the mind and courage, and is reserved only for the Supreme Archivist in times of greatest necessity. Secret knowledge The secret knowledge held in the archives of the Nineteen Red Ravens is not intended for the eyes of ordinary mortals, nor for most Imperial officials. Its origins date back to the days after the return from the Warp, when the Shadow Fears unit made contact with relics of the Dark Age of technology. One of these relics was a broken data crystal, containing fragments of incomprehensible formulas, apparently intended for the construction of weapons systems capable of acting directly on the soul of the enemy. The knowledge was carefully decoded and locked away in the deepest layers of the Chapter - access to which is granted only to the highest-ranking Librarians. During the campaign in the Nelkaris system, the Chapter encountered a fragment of a Xenos entity, which appeared to belong to an unknown species capable of manipulating the timeline of reality. This "time crystal" behaved as if it were alive - it responded to the presence of psykers and occasionally transmitted fragments of the future. Although sealed in a protective sarcophagus, several Librarians have experienced prophetic visions under his influence. These visions are stored in the so-called "Mnemonic Circle" - a special psychic database that records only that information that cannot be safely transmitted orally or in writing. The Nineteen Red Ravens have also uncovered forbidden knowledge of shadow manipulation - not only in the optical sense, but also in the realm of perception and memory. Fragments of records of experiments by the Imperial Navigators and Assassinorum, who attempted to erase the presence of other people from people, exist in the archives. The Nineteen Red Ravens have discovered parts of this technology - primarily methods for "erasing" individuals from shared reality for a short period of time. Although the use of this knowledge is considered extreme, in the darkest of crisis situations it could decide the outcome of a battle. The Chapter also holds information about several forgotten Mechanicum bunkers on abandoned worlds, including detailed maps, access codes, and schematics of defense mechanisms. These locations often contain not only weapons and equipment from the Dark Age, but also databanks full of forgotten Imperial records. Some of this data even concerns the Adeptus Custodes themselves, as excerpts from ancient logs record their names and movements during the Heresy. The Red Ravens Librarians believe that some of this knowledge can be used to combat treachery from within the Empire. Also of note is the knowledge of the so-called "Shadow of the Emperor's Wrath" - a strange phenomenon that several veterans encountered during battles against daemonic invasions. It was an intangible entity that seemed to protect individual brothers in their darkest moments, before disappearing again. The Librarians believe that it may be a reflection of the will of the Emperor himself, or a long-forgotten defense mechanism of the Golden Throne. The revelations continue to be analyzed, but remain shrouded in mystery – and the belief that the Emperor is not fully asleep is a powerful motivator for the Nineteen Red Ravens. The records kept by the Librarians of the Nineteen Red Ravens, drawn from 22 survivors of the XIX Legion, contain knowledge of long-lost battlefields where the wrecks of fallen Dreadnoughts rest. The Chapter has occasionally recovered and reverently restored these relics of war – particularly rare Contemptor and Leviathan-type machines. Each find is kept by the Techmarines with strict ritual, and is considered an act of service to the Imperium and a tribute to the memory of the fallen. Other Time warp anomaly: The 33 Astartes, who entered the Warp in the 31st millennium and did not return until the early 39th millennium, differ from their kind in another disturbing way: since their re-emergence in reality, they have aged noticeably more slowly. Of the 33 survivors, several are still alive in M42. Their vitality defies all medical expectations. They do not appear to have been corrupted by the warp—more like they carry a subtle “warp of time” that has slowed their aging without granting them true immortality. Although the Chapter of Nineteen Red Ravens draws its gene seed directly from these original 33 survivors since their inception, it remains a question of whether this warp anomaly is passed down from generation to generation. No younger brother has yet shown similar signs of extended vitality - but both the Apothecaries and the Librarians - led by Vaelus Khare, who himself is one of the 33 survivors - admit that the answer will take some time. Some believe it was a unique consequence of the long journey through the warp that cannot be passed on... while others argue that such a legacy can only manifest after centuries of service. Dream presence: The three oldest Librarians, led by Vaelus Khare, investigate a disturbing theory that is not publicly taught in Librarius. The 33. survivors of warp trip brought more than just memories from the Warp with them. During their long wandering outside reality, their minds and souls may have been watched over by an unknown entity from the Warp, whose intentions remain unclear. Although none of the 33. Astartes showed signs of possession or heresy, or gene contamination. Certain anomalies in the dream visions and meditations of Vaelus Khare and later Librarians - especially the first ones from the Shadow Fears unit - indicate that some kind of invisible connection persists between them and the Warp. This "dream presence" has become the subject of secret research and control, but has not yet been identified as a clear threat. Or if the entity exists, what its intentions are. The highest circle of the Librarian is silent about it - as if it were a ghost that is better not to be awakened. Wookiee2122
Today we look at the Reclusiam of the Nineteen Red Ravens Chapter, ruled by the firm hand and quiet word of the High Chaplain. The Chaplains are not just roaring preachers; they have formed a unique cult of shadow, memory, and sacred silence that permeates the entire brotherhood and reminds us of the eternal loyalty to the legacy of the fallen of Isstvan 5. Below you will find a complete history of the High Chaplains, descriptions of silent rituals, or ritual punishments, and a list of sacred relics. I will be extremely grateful for any of your opinions, comments, and constructive criticism (C&C welcome!). Reclusiam Nakius Triven Phantom Chief Reclusiarch Reclusiarch Chaplains Acolytum Chapter Serfs The Reclusiam of the Nineteen Red Ravens Chapter is the spiritual heart of the Brotherhood – a place where warlike faith, memory and oath intersect. Under the leadership of Phantom Chief Reclusiarch Nakius Triven, the Reclusiam provides not only spiritual guidance and liturgy of battle rituals, but also the careful distribution of chaplains to individual companies. They not only strengthen the faith and morale of the Brotherhood, but also oversee the purity of the soul and remind us of the fidelity to the legacy of the fallen of Istvaan 5. Led by its Master of Sanctity, the Reclusiam forms a specific cult of shadow, memory and silence that permeates the entire Chapter like an invisible but strong network of loyalty and meaning. Masters of Sanctity Sareth Lorn (KIA) Legion Chaplain - Positions in the Raven Guard Legion of the 31th Millennium First Phantom Chief Reclusarium - Positions in chapter Nineteen Red Ravens Sareth Lorn hailed from the 57th Company of the XIX Legion, and was the spiritual pillar of the 22 surviving Astartes during the horrors of Isstvaan V. Harvon Mrach (KIA) Asistent Chaplain - Positions in the Shadow Fears 39th Millennium Second Phantom Chief Reclusarium - Positions in chapter Nineteen Red Ravens Harvon was recruited into the Shadow Fears during their covert operation in late M39. His origins are unclear - records speak of an unnamed death on a world destroyed during campaigns against pirates. Even as a novice, he was known for his deep piety and unwavering loyalty to the ideals of the Emperor and the memory of the fallen. His quiet but passionate faith soon brought him to the attention of Sareth Lorn, who took him in as a disciple and guided him along the path of a chaplain. Mrach imbibed the liturgy and legend, but he also actively participated in Shadow Fears operations as a field preacher and relentless fighter. When Sareth Lorn was placed in a stasis sarcophagus after being injured, Harvon Mrach became his natural successor - the second Phantom Chief Reclusiarch of the Chapter. His service was characterized by an emphasis on memory and cleansing anger. He created the first “Codex of the Raven Cry.” A set of litanies and spiritual rituals designed for various situations – a landing, the death of a brother, a clash with a heretic. Unlike Lorn, Mrach was more public, leading sermons in a powerful voice in front of the entire company, often right at the landing site. He named his Crozius “The Song of Mortal Oaths” – a reminder that betrayal is a bond that must be broken by force and fire. Harvon fell in M40.317 during the defense of the historical archive on the orbital station Unbreakable Cry, when a unit of World Beares penetrated the sanctuary of knowledge. He defended the last access to the archive alongside two marines, and his last words – “Let memory burn, but never fade.” – became the final sentence of the Codex of the Raven Cry. His body was left at the scene of his death, but Corvia and Crozius were returned to Reclusiar, and his name has since been engraved on the hem of the hood of every new chaplain who takes the oath of the shadow. Nakius Triven Third Phantom Chief Reclusiarch - Positions in chapter Nineteen Red Ravens Nakius Triven hails from the Farhearing tribe, living in the misty heights of Guranion 12. His people were known for their oral heritage – the songs of their ancestors, the tales of ages gone by, and the belief in spirits who watch over their clan from the heights of the heavens. Even as a boy, he would sit by the fires and listen to tales of gods who had fallen for their pride, and heroes who bore their loss as a sign. It was this sensitivity to words and memory that made him a special choice for selection into the Adeptus Astartes – a warrior with strong arms, but also a silent boy with eyes turned to the heavens and ears always open to stories. After being accepted into the Nineteen Red Ravens Chapter in the early years of its founding, Triven proved to be an exceptional adept. His calm, concentration, and deep faith—now turned to the Emperor as a divine Father—brought him into the service of the Reclusiarch. He had studied under Harvon Mrach, whose powerful, thunderous preaching was a far cry from his own—Triven preached in whispers, in questions, in stories that the brothers had to guess for themselves. His style was personal, hushed, profound—and the brothers, who had experienced the deaths of their brothers and their own failures, found solace in him. When Harvon Mrach fell, it was Triven who, in his sermon, was able to describe his loss without pathos—and at the same time revive his legacy. Today, as the third Phantom Chief Reclusiarch, Triven is the voice of quiet faith. Where Lorn commanded with silence and Mrach thundered with words, Triven combines memory with image. His liturgies are built on stories—each landing begins with a parable, each funeral ends with a name to be told. The brothers see him as the bearer of a new chapter of the chapter’s spirituality—not a weaker one, but a deeper one, rooted in the soil of Guranion and the souls of those who come out of the mist to walk in the shadow. As Master of Sanctity, Triven leads the entire Reclusiam of the chapter with calm determination and a deep sense of symbolism. He personally initiates each new chaplain, listens to their spiritual journey, and on that basis assigns them to a company where their words will carry the most weight. Triven does not believe in blind orders—in his eyes, each chaplain is a bearer of living memory and should lead the brothers in the spirit of truth, as well as tradition. His style of command is focused, narrative, and meditative, which is why the entire Reclusiam acts more like a network of silent thinkers than shouting preachers. Triven's influence is evident in every company: where his chaplains are, faith is strong, but there is also humanity - anchored in stories, names of the fallen, and a deep understanding of why brothers fight in the first place. Prayers: The prayers of the Nineteen Red Ravens Chapter are deeply rooted in two sources: the bitter memory of the betrayal on Istvaan V and the spiritual tradition of Guranion 12. They are whispered, whispered in the shadows, and carried in the hearts of the brothers like an echo of an oath that can never be broken. The Song of the Red Ash Wings: This oldest litany is a prayer for the fallen brothers of the original XIX Legion. Its opening verse— “From the thunder of betrayal we rose in the mist, blood in our mouths, names in our chests.” - is recited just before the landing. This litany is not just a remembrance, but a challenge: its words contain a silent fury and a sacred desire for purification through battle. Hymns of the Spirits: Another strong tradition is the oral prayers inspired by the culture of Guranion 12, which the brothers often use in personal prayer or in silent funeral rituals. These chants commemorate the bond between the living and the fallen, and often begin with the words: “I speak to those who are not here, but still walk the path with me.” When a brother falls, his name is added to these prayers and becomes part of the “Record of Raven Voices” – a code of names carried by each chaplain. The belief that the dead can hear is more than a superstition to the Chapter – it is a way of remembering why every Astartes fights. The Curse of Unforgiveness: A special place in Reclusiar is occupied by the liturgy and prayer of hatred, which is recited only when faced with specific enemies - primarily Word Bearers and World Eaters. Its words are old, sharp, and carry the voice of those who survived Istvaan: "We know no reconciliation. We know no mercy. We know no oblivion." In these moments, the brothers pray not for their own survival, but for the destruction of those who betrayed. This prayer is considered sacred and dangerous - those without sin should not hear it. And few recite it without fear, for it draws too deep a dark echo of the past. Yet within it lies the core of the chapter: pain melted into an oath, faith connected to the shadow, and the names of the dead that will never be forgotten. Rituals: The rituals of the Nineteen Red Ravens Chapter are deeply symbolic, and always associated with memory, silence, and oath. Each newly-inducted Battlebrother undergoes a ceremony known as the Shadow Initiation – held in the cavernous crypts of the fortress monastery, where the Record of Raven Voices, a list of the names of the fallen, is read to him for the first time. The novice holds a stone from Isstvaan V, the site of the fallen brothers, and swears that his actions will amplify the voices of those who no longer speak. This forms a unique relationship between the brother and the history of the Chapter – each new Astartes is a continuer of the story, not just a warrior. The ceremony concludes with the ritual anointing of the helmet with the ashes of young ravens. Before each battle, a gathering called the Liturgy of the Lost Ravens is held, led by the chaplain of the respective company. The brothers stand in a circle, silent, listening to a voice recalling the names of the fallen from the previous campaign. This is followed by a short speech from a surviving veteran. Then, an object (piece of armor, seal, weapon fragment) symbolizing memory is placed in the center, which the brothers tap with their hands - a simple gesture that replaces the shouts and shouts of other chapters. Finally, the final sentence is heard: "We will go quietly, but we will not disappear." After the battle, the ritual of Ash Veneration follows, in which the chaplain rubs the armor of each surviving brother with ashes from the battlefield, reminding him of whom he survived. When a battle brother falls, his brothers take Corvia, the totem of the Brother's soul, from his body, his equipment, weapons and harvest his gene seed, after which the body is left at the site of his death for the scavengers. Upon returning to the Fortress, the marine's items are placed in a chest that is then walled up in a small tomb. On which his portrait and a list of the deeds he has done are carved. In this way, the chapter never forgets – every landing, every return, every fall is part of the memory line that holds their brotherhood together in both shadow and light. Oaths: The oaths of the Nineteen Red Ravens Chapter are silent, solemn, and rooted in memory and shadow. Unlike other chapters, they are not shouted out in front of the battle line, but are whispered or spoken in spirit, often in the presence of only the chaplain and their own squad. Some of the most powerful of these vows are known as: The Oath of the Raven’s Voice: The youngest brothers, upon their first real deployment, take the Oath of the Raven’s Voice, pledging that their actions will be the words of those who can no longer speak—the team means their fallen brothers. This simple but powerful oath is often accompanied by a small relic—a wax seal engraved with a verse from the Song of the Red Ash Wings. For the Nineteen Red Ravens Chapter, the oath is more than a ritual—it is a bond that holds the shadow together, giving every beat of the heart or hand a meaning that goes beyond mere victory. Fallen Phantom’s Oath: A Marine chooses the name of a brother who fell in a previous campaign and vows that his actions in battle will be a continuation of that lost brother. He writes the brother’s name or insignia on a small piece of parchment, places it in a pouch with his personal totem – and carries it with him into battle. Phantom’s Oath of Silence: Veterans take a more difficult oath called the Phantom’s Oath of Silence – a ritual in which a unit renounces personal honor, glory or reward until a specific objective is accomplished. This oath is always confirmed by touching a stone seal with the Chapter’s emblem, carried in each drop pod, and after taking it, the brothers wear a black raven feather hanging from their belt – a sign that in battle they do not speak, but act. Penance: In the Nineteen Red Ravens Chapter, penance is considered a deeply spiritual process, not just a punishment. The basic offenses are disobeying orders, disrespecting weapons, and desecrating the memory of the fallen. A Marine who, for example, questions an order without reason or refuses to share the burden of battle with a brother disrupts the balance of trust and unity—a grave sin in a Chapter whose strength is built on mutual reliance. But any damage to a relic, thoughtless handling of equipment, or neglect of the remains of a fallen brother is viewed much more severely—for every piece of equipment carries a story and a name. Punishments are often symbolic and psychologically demanding, but not physically harsh. A common form of penance is the "Service in Silence". The offender is cut off from communications (both regular and vox) within his unit and is restricted to gestures during daily life in the Chapter Fortress and during missions, as an expression of isolation and the need to regain trust without words. Other penances may include standing watch in the Vault of Memories all night, listening to recordings of the voices of the fallen, or tending war relics while a chaplain recites the stories of each weapon. In extreme cases, the marine may be stripped of his insignia and sent alone to hunt the Guarion Tiger in complete silence, armed only with a knife. By hunting the beast, he atones for his sins. The most severe form of penance is the "Nameless Shadow" - a state in which the brothers cease to call the offender by name until he proves himself through action or sacrifice. This ritual is extremely rare and reserved only for those who have gravely tarnished the memory of the fallen—for example, by concealing a failure that led to the death of a comrade. For the Nineteen Red Ravens, repentance is not retribution but a path to purification, a return to the shadow that protects. Anyone who emerges from it bears a new name—not forgiven, but cleansed. Holy Relics: Voice of Krol: A small, sealed vox-codex that contains the final sermon of Seraphon Krol, the Chapter's first Phantom Master, delivered shortly before his final battle. This recording is only played at the initiation of a new Captain or during crisis prayers—the brothers believe its words strengthen the spirit and remind them of the meaning of silent leadership. Eye of the Traitor: The blackened lens from the helmet of a fallen Word Bearer who was destroyed during one of the Chapter's earliest battles. The relic is set in a metal frame and kept in the Oath Vault. It serves as a reminder of the betrayal of Istvaan, as well as a memento that no enemy is invincible. Before each campaign against traitors, the brothers silently pass by this artifact and touch it with the fingers of their gauntlets. Ashes of the Seven: A small urn containing the ashes of seven brothers who fell during the initial landing on Guranion 12. It is placed in the central sanctuary of the monastery, beneath the Altar of Silent Names. Each chaplain swears his oath of office at this urn, as a reminder that every new victory is built on the blood of those who have not returned. Crozius "Song of Death Oaths": A ritual Crozius Arcanum that belonged to Harvon Mrach, the second Phantom Chief Reclusiarch. It was repaired after his death, but is no longer used in battle - it is carried in processions and during liturgies. Its hilt is wrapped in black ribbons bearing the names of those who fell in battle - its weight is a reminder of the weight of lives lost. Phatom's Finger: The mummified finger of Varek "The Nameless", one of the original 22 survivors of Istvaan V. The finger is encased in a glass jar and set in a niche in the Chamber of Memories, with the inscription: "Remember even those whose names have not been preserved." It serves as both a warning and a consolation - that none of the brothers are forgotten, even if their voice, face, and name are lost. Codex of the Raven Cry Codex of the Raven Cry is a handwritten volume of holy litanies, war chants, and ritual rites compiled by the second Phantom Chief Reclusiarch, Harvon Mrach. It contains specific prayers for moments of landing, funeral orations for fallen brothers, liturgies before fighting heretics, and cleansing texts for returning from corrupted battle zones. The Codex is not just a religious text—it is a guide to how to strengthen the spirit through words, transform pain into will, and commemorate the fallen at every turn. The book has gold plates decorated with battle reliefs, is kept in the Reclusiarch, and is read aloud by the Chapter's Chief Chaplain at major ritual events. For the brothers, opening it is considered a special honor—a sign that silence turns into words, and words into deeds. Record of Raven Voices The Record of Raven Voices is a large, handwritten book housed in the Chamber of Memories, with a black adamantium spine and silver plates engraved with the signs of the annual cycles and raven motifs. The book contains the names of all the brothers of the Nineteen Red Ravens Chapter who have ever served - from the twenty-two survivors of Istvaan to the current brothers of Guranion 12. Each name is inscribed by a chosen Librarian and consecrated by a chaplain. Information about origin, date of initiation, rank, and notes on deeds or manner of death. The pages of the fallen are marginally treated with ashes from the battlefield where they last fought. The codex is opened only during the most important rituals - most notably during the Gathering of Phantoms - when a portion of the names are read out in a silent ceremony, reminding that the brothers live as long as their name is remembered. Other: The Reclusiam of the Nineteen Red Ravens Chapter not only conducts spiritual ministry, but also nurtures the inner balance of the brothers, who often face profound psychological pressures. The weight of memory—both personal and collective—is an inseparable part of life in this chapter. Some brothers, especially those with a strong sense of honor and memory, can be overcome by “Phantom melancholy,” a state in which their minds descend into silent obsession with the names of the fallen, remorse, or loss of meaning. These brothers are not considered broken—the Reclusiam often leads them to retreat into meditation, work in crypts, or even volunteer service in the Silent Camp, where they serve voicelessly in memory sanctuaries. In extreme cases, a syndrome called “Echo of the Betrayal Cry” can occur, a psychological condition in which a marine begins to perceive the voices of traitors from Istvaan in dreams and seizures. The Reclusiar considers this disorder an extreme form of spiritual pollution, and carries with it the danger of rage or restlessness in battle. Brothers with this stigmata are isolated in the Chamber of Silent Voices, where they are spoken to only by chaplains or librarians, who try to help them find balance through liturgies, remembrance of the fallen, and deep introspection. Those who manage to return from this edge are considered especially wise - or dangerous.
