So I need to fix a vehicle and i think at this this point, i have to take the paint off and start over. The problem is this tank has an already painted interior which will be almost impossible to reach if i stirp that off too so i'm reluctant to do anything that involves leaving it totally submerged  in a stripper. Can anyone suggest a good way to get the paint off without dunking it into thinner/stripper etc?

It sounds like any of the liquid removers (e.g. IPA) and an old toothbrush are probably what you want, although you're probably going to want to make sure you've got the openings taped off to prevent any of the remover getting in.

I've seen AK's one used in this manner.

Any experience with this one? I'm just scared it will damage the plastic

Nope. I've just used isopropyl alcohol and a toothbrush in the past. AK's product page says it's fine for use on plastic, but also not to leave parts soaking in it.
