hd3
So I need to fix a vehicle and i think at this this point, i have to take the paint off and start over. The problem is this tank has an already painted interior which will be almost impossible to reach if i stirp that off too so i'm reluctant to do anything that involves leaving it totally submerged in a stripper. Can anyone suggest a good way to get the paint off without dunking it into thinner/stripper etc? Firedrake Cordova
It sounds like any of the liquid removers (e.g. IPA) and an old toothbrush are probably what you want, although you're probably going to want to make sure you've got the openings taped off to prevent any of the remover getting in. I've seen AK's one used in this manner. I'm just scared it will damage the plastic Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/388092-how-to-strip-paint-off-a-model-without-submerging-it/#findComment-6175970 Share on other sites

I've just used isopropyl alcohol and a toothbrush in the past. AK's product page says it's fine for use on plastic, but also not to leave parts soaking in it. hd3 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/388092-how-to-strip-paint-off-a-model-without-submerging-it/#findComment-6175984 Share on other sites
Xenith
Depends how thick the paint is - if it's on thinly, 99.9% isopropyl alcohol sprayed on will work. You can probably make a shallow pool and submerge one part of the tank at a time only. If it's only a small bit of bad paint, then you can probably dab it on with a cotton bud and peel back paint you're unhappy with. WBRBloom
@hd3 I was about to suggest to also try Biostrip, if you're in the UK or if you can find it where you're located, which is a plastic safe paint remover in the form of a gel (meaning it won't easily go any further from where you apply it) however, any kind of paint remover you decide on will also expect from you to wash it off afterwards either putting it in a bath or under the tap. This could potentially mean that any kind of stripping agent will end up going in the interior as well.
