I may have screwed myself again…but seeing Hatchette partworks selling the Fronteris terrain set for £80 seemed like a bargain compared to my purchase of the Adeptus Mechanicus ruins from Kill team.  Fronteris are shown in the 10th ed Combat Patrol setups so I thought I was on to a winner.

All the setups for 11th seem to consist of ruins at each corner I guess to allow larger units to enter and maybe gain cover?   Overall are bunker type buildings going to be useful in/relevant in 11th?

Area matters, then the emelents on it define the type of cover and associated rules. even without scenery models on the shadow board, the area would retain an impact in games. See it as 2D terrain, even if 40k bears 3D in its DNA.

Anyway, all previous scenery models still remain usable. I do not foresee any big reset in the short term.

As examples, I took pics of the Fronteris material onc eon the new patterns of areas.

Yet, for sure, the model's type distribution is centerd on sizes that may not be that fully aligned with the set of patterns proposed in 11th. but for me, it will work good enough.

Thanks, that’s great work, I guess what concerned me the most was that (and I could be/probably am mistaken) the GW example layouts have a mixture of dense and light terrain on a single mat.  So rather than that mat representing a single type of terrain it represents the boundary of an objective, or have I got that wrong?  It seems that the Fronteris set is predominantly solid terrain, but with the Volkswagen set I will be able to field an interesting, if not “chapter approved” battlefield.

Indeed, unless you have ruined Ryza pattern STC hab, Fronteris is essentially solid scenery. But Hachette collection had ruins too in its Previous itération and there is still some on eBay. It gives options. The biggest concern with Fronteris is the lack of height and upper levels.

Not being a competitive gamer what’s the concern with a lack of floors?  Sniper type units?
