Waaagh?
Seems the vet breachers are mostly unchanged other than a 2pt per model increase and the option for the sergeant to have a thunder hammer. Glad they didn't radically change them. *Edit* also seems they can all take combis now too. Edited June 25 by Waaagh? Joe
Pretty certain the below is a typo on the Veletaris Raider Section. Quote May include up to 1 additional Veletarii at +7 Points per Model. So you'd go from a 10-man squad to an 11-man squad... Xenith
Great, but another nail in the coffin of the breacher this edition - other than looking awesome (the best reason to take them) they are outshone by assault marines with combat shields which are now a 5++. The veteran despoilers can get a 5++ for a total of 20ppm, 2pts cheaper than a breacher, and get an extra attack on top, and lose heavy. All true, but my alpha vet breachers can take banestrike combi bolters and that’s gonna be rad as hell to build. Also regular breachers have Line so if there are mechanics that interact with that, it may be helpful. Plus, lascutters for opening doors and dreadnaughts! Breachers have always been fairly rubbish but they look fantastic. I think you're missing that the Combat Shields don't have the Shieldwall reaction, but the Breachers do. I'm not, it's just that I place zero value on that reaction (move react out of LOS is more powerful, so is shooting), while the 50% increase in set up move (2" -> 3") the despoilers get over the breachers is huge, and the loss of Line 1 for Vanguard is also significant. I really struggle to find a use for shieldwall. Sure it does something against mass S4/5/6 shooting, but you were never going to lose many models to that anyway, especially with 2W each. I would be extremely happy to be shown how to get the most from it however - I love my breachers, I just think they're overcosted and now combat shields give a 5++ they have lost their niche. Big distinction is that a Combat Shield is just a 5++ in melee, the Boarding Shield gives you a 5++ all the time. gator.actual
I am extremely excited about this release. I'm a big fan of the CQB aspect of the Gallowdark and Tomb World. So this calls to me. And new units are always a plus. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/388125-journal-tactica-zone-mortalis/page/2/#findComment-6178229 Share on other sites

MARK0SIAN
I agree breachers are a bit underwhelming for their points when compared to other units. I’d give them all the old shield wall rule that phalanx warders had where they gain plus 1 to their invulnerable save if they’re in base contact with others in the unit. It would be a cool bonus and really encourages setting them up in a lore accurate way. de Selby 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/388125-journal-tactica-zone-mortalis/page/2/#findComment-6178242 Share on other sites
