Casual Heresy
Thought I'd start the topic for this one since I'm almost finished. Willing to say that this is the best edition launch tie-in since Dark Imperium. It might even beat Dark Imperium in the context of being an edition launch tie-in. Admittedly, the bar was on the floor. I wanted to like Indomitus but its the novel that makes me understand why other people are so against Gav Thorpe. Leviathan has some really good scenes, but it feels like a few good bits of writing thrown together and loosely connected by showing off the contents of the box. Season of Fire avoids the mistakes of the past by not going through a checklist of what's in the box. I think Reid has achieved her stated goal of writing a love letter to all the wars for Armageddon through the years. The focus in very much on the Orks but there are plenty of nods to the first war and subsequent chaos shenanigans. All in all, I'd rate it as a very enjoyable read.
