Valkyrion
Epic Deed, Battle Tactic, Strategic Ploy etc? Do they serve a function I've missed during my 11th prep? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/388230-do-stratagem-categories-mean-anything/ Share on other sites
Xenith
Not that I can see. They played a small role in I think late 8th where certain characters like Dante got a free use of a Battle Tactic stratagem, but nothing since then. brother_b, Karhedron and Valkyrion 2 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/388230-do-stratagem-categories-mean-anything/#findComment-6179189 Share on other sites
Inquisitor_Lensoven
They sound cool. And looking cool and sounding cool are the most important things. Tawnis
They were just a broad description of the type of stratagem they are. Battle Tactics are straight buffs to damage or durability: Things like Armour of Contempt to reduce enemy AP, or one that give damage buffs like Dev Wounds, +1hit or wound, Ignores Cover, Sustained or Lethal hits, that kind of thing. Strategic Ploys modify or change rules of the game: Things like embarking in a Transport out of phase, getting an auto advance amount, returning units to reserve, stickying an objective, that kind of thing. Epic Deeds are a little more nebulous and the least common, but are for cinematic moments: Things like fight on death, auto deadly demise, retaliatory attacks, those kinds of things. However, looking at the new 1DP detachments for 11th edition, it looks like this has been done away with.
