@kabaakaba Sadhammer  love it!  Had to look it up.  Probably a conversation on another thread but are there Ai type rules i.e. attack the nearest enemy etc?

Well, of course you're following the analogy with NPO in kill team. Although I prefer to play for each side as it's my army.

1k using the paperwork looks like a nightmare.  In the app you press a few buttons and the units are visually represented

100% agree. I haven’t used pen and paper to make a list since 8th edition started. Unless one counts adding enhancements when they’re not in a list builder?

My group was a bunch of adults getting our games in after we got the kids down, not "let's take up a full weekend day after typical errands are done" lol

6 hours including travel time is hardly a full weekend day, but I get that having kids really changes your math with time spent doing things.

It is a "full weekend day after typical errands are done," which is what he said.

Hell, 6 hours is like 2-6x more free time than most parents will have on a normal weekend day. The math is less "should I spend my free time doing this" and more "the day would need to be 30 hours long to do this, but then the kids would just have more activities anyway."

Yeah, the math changes when you've got kids and adulting to do all the time. My 'free' time is aboutan hour or 2 a night, and thats even with my kid now grown as my peak playing days (5th) are long long behind me.

6 hours in a single block for gaming? Just not happening anymore, thats a dedicated and planned for event :D

6 hours for a single regular game is...way too much, but if thats the direction its gone, wow.

Half that would be about the max.

For me, if I'm playing a 2k game out at an event or just a pickup game at my LGS, it's usually 3-3 1/2 hours, but I do often play horde armies and am usually one of the last tables to finish.

If I'm playing at home with a friend, it's more like 4-6 because we often take it far more slow and casual, chatting about stuff and talking strategy all the while.

Most of our game days are dedicated and planned events :)

To each their own, but I'm 100% pen and paper.

I can get a list done in no time from the points on Warcom and I never have to worry about my phone dying or some update messing up the rules or list for an event I'm in, or a myriad of other things I hear people with the app complaining about.

I feel ya, mine are often relegated to Friday nights. Kids are in bed by 8, and then up into to about 1ish playing warhammer. My friends will sometimes sleep over in the spare room, and we just hope the kids let us sleep in a bit the next day.

Blood Angels have divergent favoritism and have some of the most detachments you can take, exclusive or not exclusive. So which of those exclusive detachments didn't make Blood Angels feel like Blood Angels?

I forget exactly which one it was, but Red Thirst was locked behind a 3DP detachment (when really it should be a core rule).

This is another example of tournament prevalence dominating the scene. They did say that being restricted to the specific force disposition was for tournaments and that when you're just playing a casual game, you can decide to just play whatever disposition you want.

I went looking for this and have failed finding it on my own. My buddy loves his UM list, but hates having to do Priority Assets. Can you link where they said that please?

100% agree, I print out anything I need at the table with one exception and that’s the rules. Too much paper and I find the 80/20 rule applies: 80% of play uses 20% of the rules. Anything outside that, I trust what my opponent says, we ask a rules lawyer, or look it up.

In the warjounal at least, during the pick disposition step you can pick a custom mission. Which allows you to either rando yours and the opponent's mission or pick one of the 25 missions.  I'll have to check my mission deck later to see if it offers this as an option in it's little rules packet.

It was in one of the Q&A videos IIRC, I THINK the first one, but may have been the second,.

Price of using Warhammer + has just gone up by £1/month.  I’m not into their media and there’s plenty of painting/hobby stuff on YT so £7 per month to use the (albeit) good app has become a bit daft.  Supporting New recruit for £28/ year may be a better choice for me.

I’m personally trying to go toward 8”x5” record cards.  Tricky to gather all the info but hopefully worth it.

MAN isn't NewRecruit the best? Took me a little bit to get used to it vs using Battlescribe but once I got used to it, making lists in the spur of the moment became a breeze.

Funny, I always found a word processor and calculator did the trick just fine...

I already have to do math amd typing for work. I'm not going to do it for leisurely purposes especially when these apps/programs will actively catch mistakes.
